The setting is very evocative. I found the movement janky at first, until I read the instructions and realized that it steers more like a real-life car, not a video game car (not being someone who drives, this didn't occur to me). There's a lot of nice polish in terms of lighting, dust, and the like. The gameplay is a bit frustrating, not knowing where to deliver the pizza, but I still had some fun once I figured out how to drive properly. A solid entry overall.
@3lstmsinatrenchcoat Thanks for playing. On the message for the pizza delivery there is a little indicator next to the timer showing which direction the delivery is. :8ball:
This is pretty entertaining - I love the music most of all. I like to imagine it's being blasted out of the car like a nightmarish icecream man.
The truck was hard to control. It was slow at times and then drift like crazy fast. The environment didn't make sense and no story to explain. I kept running into building and drifting out of control.

This is very impressive expecially for a COMPO. The driving feels a bit off at first, but you get a handle of it very quicky. I absolutely adore the atmosphere and kind of halloween-y music and vibe. It really give the game an extra spark. I didn't even mind all that open space, it was very good and it gave me an option to drive recklessly and enjoy the physics.
Extra star for the wobbly Pizza on the car rooftop! I really appreciate little details like this.
That was fun! I think the real hero of this story is the lit pizza sign somehow managing to stay attached despite me rolling my car and crashing everywhere. Seriously though, I thought the bouncing pizza sign was a super nice touch. I also like the radio DJ calling out the next song.
@unitoftime Believe it or not you can actually knock the wobbly pizza sign off the car.
A lot of fun! Really nice attention to detail with the wobbly sign and the radio announcer. Definitely benefited from a second attempt after getting a bit familiarised with the map and the controls. Felt quite good to drive the car and a lot of the time spinning out of control was just hilarious and added to the tension.
Sixty seconds felt fair, able to finish the current delivery even if another one cropped up at the same time, but at three simultaneous orders I was never able to make it 😅 Not sure what the game-over state is as it seemed to end early every time (I had money and I only missed one delivery). May have been a coincidence but it felt like it was programmed to end after the last song?
Being able to keep driving after losing to practice some stuff that I didn't want to risk while on the timer was great.
On my fourth try I finally stuck the landing after the big ramp and delivered the rooftop pizza! But then I got irreversibly stuck on the side of a building a few deliveries later and *the run* was ruined 😭 Happened quite a few times actually so that'd be my main complaint if anything. Wasn't nice to be on a roll and have that happen… ☹️
Audio is great. All the different tracks of course but also the sound effects. It's a fun juxtaposition to the moody graphics.
Never ended up using the handbrake because it didn't seem to do much at least at the speeds I was going. I'm guessing it was for drifting but I wasn't able to figure it out.
Really well done! 🍕 Brought down only by how easy it was to get stuck, otherwise great!
The details here are so satisfying!
The crunches as your fender drags along the hard sand, the sproingy glowing pizza icon, the humble shrugging grin from the downtrodden folk we deliver to - all if packs a punch!
Something so dystopian and yet so heartwarming about a minimum wage driver trying his best to meet impossible standards - while literally every other element of society has collapsed.
The game feels amazing - there is so much joy in bounding over the gentle hills and wrangling our sloppy little vehicle to skid-out infront of the shop, hurriedly load in some zaah, and race off to the next customer. I'm sure you could tinker with the physics endlessly trying to get the truck to feel just right - but I like it a little off-kilter.
Really amazing entry, I kept coming back for more!

This was a fun experience! I was late for the jump sadly, would have been awesome to do that jump at the ramp. I loved the radio, really funny and nice. I liked the mood too, impressive entry!
Nice game. Like the addition of the radio station and the totally-not-a-Pizza-Planet-truck. Good work!
@ava-skoog Great feedback as always. The game ends after 10 deliveries, and your earnings are then your score. I suppose I could have made that clearer. And yes the "handbrake" just removed friction from the tires allowing you to drift.
@digital-bacon We all know that after the bombs have dropped the only things to survive will be cockroaches and Toyota Hilux trucks.

Excellent compo entry! I can't believe how much you were able to implement in a weekend. The vehicle physics feel good and it's a great challenge to drive over sand dunes and try to keep your speed/traction in check so you don't spin out.
You've added lots of cool little physics details, audio details with the radio, nice-to-have gameplay features like the objective compass and the timer for both pickups and deliveries. I also really like that the delivery spots are hand-crafted and not just randomly placed. Especially ones like the top of the building/ramp are a great choice and feel very well designed. There's just something really cool about the idea of a post-apocalyptic delivery game, and I hope you expand this one more after the jam!

What a floating, funny game. I included it in my Ludum Dare 53 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. https://youtu.be/d5bLQmuzzPs

Wow, so much content in such a lovely little game ! I mean, you even get a radio station :D Graphics and sound are great, and the best part is the lore ! The car is sometimes a bit hard to control but other than that, awesome entry. Well done.

One of the best games I've played from this jam. The context is a bit nuts but the game experience is really fun. Visuals and sounds fit really well together, like the car design, environment and radio station. You also nailed very well the controls/camera + UI/level to have a clear indicator but at the same time still have the challenge to find the path and avoid obstacles in a few seconds time. Lastly the guy asking for a pizza on top of the building was a nice and clever addition. A suggestion for any possible future update would be having zombies walking around that you can drive over them and some kind of gas fuel system. Great work!
@apiffer The plan was to have mutants roaming the wasteland that you could run over and ragdoll everywhere, but I didn't have time to figure all that out. You'll just have to settle for bouncing the cacti and barrels around.
Playing your game i kind of remember why i failed my driving licence so many times, that hit right in the spot ahah
Nice game though !, but boy those tips are light ! Should've eaten those pizzas instead ^^

Liked the overall mood, the controls of the car were not as easy - but manageable. I was often like: what is the car doing! But it was fun even then. My highlight for this game were the graphics, it was just overall very fitting, clean, neat. Nice entry for the LD.
