LD27 — 10 Seconds

GLITCH by TravisChen 2013-08-27T08:04:00

The concept is nice, however the controls aren't very responsive : the camera moves too fast while the character has much inertia and is very slow. I think you have something that visually works, one effect aside (the first one hurts the eyes a bit, at least for me) though, there's a nice ambience.

Legend of Troll by Christina Antoinette Neofotistou 2013-08-30T20:04:00

The visuals are neat. There is a bug that makes you win the game whatever the troll layout is if you morph the lads at the right of the screen. This confused me at first about what the gameplay was. It would have been nice to have less cuteness or polish on the graphics and a bit more content/gameplay. Good job anyway.

Kind regards,
nathan

SoulReaver by CarmineGames 2013-08-27T14:04:00

First of all, it's quite fun to play because the controls are responsive. Nice work on that.
However, the way you designed your "time bar", it really doesn't look time-related, thus your game feels like it missed the theme : why do white balls would give you time back again ?
Using an hourglass and sand, using a setting closer to the prince of persia series would have made it clear.
Apart from that, the audio is pretty repetitive.

Anyway, I think you got part of the deal nailed there, but not everything yet. Keep it up, next time you'll certainly get there.

Cheers,
Nathan

RUNTRIS by sgehlich 2013-08-28T11:18:00

The controls are slick and responsive, the game is challenging but not too hard, and the concept feels fresh. Good job !

Terminal 10 by alts 2013-09-02T07:24:00

It's a clever little compo overall, and it feels quite fresh.

Kougeki by ResonantCraft 2013-08-27T07:47:00

The game is still a bit rough around the edges, but we unfortunately didn't have the time to go much further !

Kougeki by ResonantCraft 2013-08-28T12:50:00

@everyone thanks

We'd like to push it further some day, add content and mostly extend a lot the range of possibilities for the player, but at the moment we have 2 games in the making.

Kind regards,
Nathan

Penpals by killmonday 2013-08-28T11:20:00

The collisions, and mainly the platform's edge pushing the character back breaks the fun a little bit. Apart from that, it's visually appealing and feels pretty polished. Good job !

10 Seconds Quest by Nora Shishi 2013-08-27T21:37:00

This game is smart overall, I think that the concept is quite ingenious, even though it's quite simple. Good job !

A Game of Thrones by Tiago 2013-08-27T09:48:00

Yeah, you got to some nice game there. I'm not a big fan of the humor chosen there, which lacks a bit subtlety, but the gameplay works well :)

Mishlike by MidCry 2013-08-27T10:27:00

The fact that you have to uncover the dungeon step by step instead of uncovering space based on a cone/circle of vision makes it a bit tedious to play. I also think that the theme doesn't really work as is, considering that rogue likes are exploration games. However, you did some nice work there, there is quite a bit of content to play through.

Save The Children by MrAwesomeHimself 2013-08-30T10:26:00

The use of the theme is very smart here, despite the limited realization.
I find strange the gameplay choice of having a very weak child die when he's being fed (and dies too if you don't feed him) though (and it is also possible to feed a dead child...).

10 Seconds to Loot ALL the Things by Muznak 2013-08-27T12:06:00

A clean game overall, only the use of the arrow feels tricky to me. You could have pushed the loot thing further two, making tons of money pop, to really emphasize on your game's main mechanic.

Cheers !
Nathan

The Duellists by jay griffin 2013-08-27T07:56:00

Nice work here, I think it only lacks a little bit of snap during the aiming phase (see Call of Juarez 2 for reference), but it's quite interesting overall, suits the dare well.

10 seconds to escape from Hell by eemmbbeerr 2013-08-27T13:23:00

It feels a bit blocky to me : although the controls are responsive, the jump is so small that I don't feel really free as a player.

Keep it up anyway !
Nathan

Must Hold IIITTT by Recid 2013-08-28T11:25:00

Too bad the controls and collisions make it hard to get a good grasp of the gameplay. It also lacks a bit of snap (dynamism) as far as the movement speed is concerned. Anyway nice work, it's pretty tough to go 3d.

Lamesoak by Tegu 2013-08-27T09:44:00

The game lacks a challenge/reward paradigm at the time, making it hard to enjoy playing it. It would help too if the controls had more snap to them (if the character moved faster).

10 Seconds to escape by FireZenk 2013-08-27T13:13:00

As far as the controls are concerned, I think it would've been nice to have continous movement. Otherwise it's a pretty classic game. It's clean anyway, so good job on that.

10" to rise by canvapps 2013-09-02T07:14:00

Pretty nice, and mostly the game feels original in its structure, at least as far as the ludum dare is concerned. It feels like it lacks some sense of challenge at the moment though.

Time To Say Goodby by Satyre 2013-08-27T07:52:00

Yeah, as others said before, it isn't very easy to grasp what to do at first, and a bit frustrating to face the intro again at each trial.
Keep it up anyway ;) !

10 Seconds Before Flush by Geeks-n-chicks 2013-08-27T21:45:00

Not bad there. The visual and the game feel polished overall, even though it's still blocky around the edges : the butterfly and flower placement are quite punitive considering that the bear jumps and falls quite fast and that they are quite small.

Proletarian Ninja X by deepnight 2013-08-27T13:21:00

Very polished, as all your games are.

Every Ten Seconds A Kitten Drowns by matthias_zarzecki 2013-08-27T07:59:00

Nice sense of humor ;)

Mr Moore's Last Seconds by Tainted_Code 2013-08-28T13:32:00

The audio is really clean and the visuals are good overall. However, the game doesn't feel related to the theme and there isn't much gameplay to enjoy there. I think it's a nice try, but you could have had a gameplay centered around changing the character's fate or wife's fate at his own expense in 10 seconds (even with time stretching in his last moments), with different endings for example. The game design just needs a clearer relationship with the "10 seconds" thing.

LD28 — You Only Get One

Shine by AdventureIslands 2013-12-17T22:22:00

Solid entry made in only 48 hours. The learning curve is very well handled for a fantastic final level. Kept me entertained until the end. Only one little thing: I didn't expect the orb to break on wood but it is nitpicking. Good job overall.

Berathen Jam by Venks 2013-12-17T17:35:00

Even if it is simple, it is very addicting. I couldn't get past 13 but I noticed how the difficulty increased like in wario ware so well done in only 72 hours.

ClockTower by fued 2013-12-17T09:46:00

Hey there,

I like the procedural generation you put there. It makes it pleasant to retry the game.
However, the controls feels a bit unresponsive : the shot happens with a delay, and the character has a lot of inertia. I didn't go to the end of the game because of that.
Also, to me, it lacks one little fx and/or sound effect to indicate that the character has taken a hit.

Cheers,
Nathan

blomster by Ditto 2013-12-18T16:47:00

Really, super smart concept !

Doubt by rxi 2013-12-17T18:09:00

Very nice graphics and a unique atmosphere are the strong points of this game. I got past the 4 doors but then I got stuck. Overall I enjoyed playing but I am sure I would enjoy way more if I could reach the ending.

Pillage Rush by Jgpicatoste 2013-12-17T22:25:00

Very innovative gameplay. At first I was a bit confused with a girl on my shoulder and didn't know what to do but later the greediness took me over to get the best one. Well done to graphics and programmation.

BUTTERSLIDE by Mnemusyne 2013-12-18T17:02:00

That's a nice take on this kind of game. The knives add quite a bit of variety in particular. Only the music feels too repetitive and somewhat annoying after a while.
Cheers,
Nathan

The Ronin by ResonantCraft 2013-12-17T16:34:00

Thanks for the comments everyone. The game was made for mobile phones indeed, my teammate and I chose that path as a challenge : can we make a short but polished mobile game in 3 days ?
However we finished so close to the deadline didn't think about adding keyboard support. Is this authorized to add this after the deadline, as a port (if we don't change anything else) ?

@SilentBunny -> if you read this, please catch me up on twitter @ResonantCraft or here in the comments, if you have the time. Normally, reloading the game should be sufficient to make the loading work. Did this happen on chrome (desktop) ?

@rafael : that's unfortunately a tradeoff we had to take to make the gameplay more engaging -> the enemies become stronger and even have a new pattern after a couple of waves. We simply didn't have the time to add multiple skins.

The Ronin by ResonantCraft 2013-12-17T17:26:00

Indeed, we investigated this issue and it seemed to be Firefox related. We just fixed it so now it should work.

Underbyte by unusualcadence 2013-12-17T15:50:00

I love it ! The controls are slick and the gameplay is really solid here. Special mention to the soundtrack which is very well produced and rousing !

Cheers,
Nathan

Walkways of Mind by Pixelfan Games 2013-12-18T16:34:00

The visuals are nice. However, one thing bothered me : having to click on the text boxes instead of using the E key.

Old MacDonald vs Zombies by rogueNoodle 2013-12-17T15:58:00

This is a nice, polished little game overall. The art style is very pleasant. I just wondered how the theme was used here (you only get one life ?). And the music feels too repetitive, mostly because you used a very well known theme (hiya hiya ho !).
This was a good experience overall !

Cheers,
nathan

Jameson The Pilot by rezoner 2013-12-17T18:27:00

So much polished in 48 hours, I am impressed. Mechanics are good and overall it is well done but I found a little bit frustrating that you only got one life. Landing on a planet was not an issue for me. Trying to make your first income was hard thought. Good job.

One Strike by tiopalada 2013-12-17T16:08:00

Oooh I like that. You used the theme well (and I'm not saying that because we went a similar path with my teammate ;) !) : it's at the core of your gameplay.
The gameplay lacks a bit of depth, as other said. A single QTE probably isn't enough to keep people entertained for a while.
The art direction is nice. Your animation lacks a bit of punch : the timings should show more contrast (slow lift of the sword, hold and extremely fast hit).
The start screen also is too slow and could be seen as a constraint by players.

Anyway, I wish you the best.
Cheers,
nathan

Crew: A Futuristic Detective Game by metkis 2013-12-17T16:05:00

Amazing ! Without a tutorial you have to rely on your description but overall it is a very solid and innovative concept you got there. I would love to play an extended version of this game if you think about updating it in the future.

Pillow Fortress by Ghost Pixels 2013-12-18T13:45:00

I really like how the Frisbee works ! At first, it felt pretty unclear what the game was about and what I had to do. But as others said there, I find the idea you chose for this universe interesting. Do you plan on extending this game's development ?

One way out by lennaert 2013-12-19T09:26:00

The game looks lovely. Too bad there's this glitch where you die upon restarting the game.
It seems rather hard without some sort of health indicator, and the controls lack a bit of snap to my taste. The mood feels great though.

One Shot to Glory by allanrw 2013-12-19T10:08:00

The game looks quite nice and the idea behind it seems smart to me. The controls feel a bit unresponsive as both the character has a lot of inertia, and the scrolling is quite slow. Also, I would prefer some Up and down control instead of the "touch to go up". It's a personal taste though.

Anyway, good luck and thanks for your feedback on html5gamedevs !

Don One goes to space. by alvarop 2013-12-17T09:25:00

The game seems pretty funny to me. The scrolling is probably too fast or the camera too close to the character : it's hard to anticipate what's up ahead.
Otherwise I like the "frio" and "caliente" thing.

Cheers,
Nathan

Bombevo by harsanalif 2013-12-18T00:43:00

Sale issues here. Sometimes I get a white screen when launching a missile (don't remmeber the color), sometimes, it gets stuck when generating the field. Otherwise, it is well done, love the graphics, found the music a little bit repetitive though. Nice entry.

Ricochere by Knighty 2013-12-18T00:35:00

Very nice. It is very difficult thought, I can't get past level 4. I also found very frustrating that I always missed the last guard by one pixel. But nice entry, congrats.

Jump Chip by arkeus 2013-12-17T19:08:00

Very solid entry. I managed to get to the end and it was quite hard, especially the boss fight. I loved how you totally changed gameplay from a puzzle game to die and retry meat boy game. If I had one complain, it would be the theme not completely fitting. Got 47% completion, very challenging to get them all. Congrats.

Agent Idaho by Mark Ffrench 2013-12-17T09:38:00

I liked it ! The visuals, although they're simple, look really cool.
I'd say the main thing at the moment it that the cars are hard to use :
- you have to be super close to enter them
- they rotate very fast, making them super hard to control
- they bump and stop into pretty much everything, including enemies who could die and drop their collider when you drive on them

Just some thoughts. Overall it feels pretty polished and sounds good !

Moon's quest by JaJ 2013-12-17T23:08:00

Well it is really impressive, so much work done in only 48hours. I got lost in the cave but I loved the retro style (art+music). Because I didn't manage to get further I couldn't enjoy the whole strategic aspect of the game, but I kept me entertained for quite long so congrats !

Ballkeeper by cappelnord 2013-12-19T13:27:00

Well done, this is a very pleasant, polished game.

TITAN SOULS by Claw 2013-12-17T20:49:00

Managed to complete the game. Absolutely stunning. The brain was very hard. I kept retrying to beat him until I read there were more bosses. So in the end after beating him the others were definitely easier. I liked the ending a lot, but I was also a bit disappointed because of it (if you reached it you will know why). So very well done game, congrats.

Princess Kingdom by ncannasse 2013-12-17T15:51:00

Very well done in only 48 hours. At first, I found it a little bit frustrating that you only get one, but I enjoyed playing for quite a long time. Congrats.

Seven Eagles, One Lantern by MadcoreTom 2013-12-19T13:31:00

The character moves a bit fast, so it feels a bit hard sometimes to release the lantern precisely on the switches. Also, the theme lacks presence in the gameplay. But I think you've gone a pretty hard road with the 3d webgl thing, and your game is well made. Good job !

The Naughty List by locknic 2013-12-19T09:22:00

The idea at the core of this game is really nice. Only one thing bothered me as far as the gameplay is concerned : there is no way to jump above enemies, thus when you miss a shot, you're often stuck between a rock and a hard place (gotta take damage).

Nice work though, nice use of the theme !
