So funny, great game! Art, audio and gameplay so amazing.
I would have liked a more dynamic gameplay, especially when jumping from/to cars, but otherwise, the game is well executed, simple enough, and plays very well. Overall a great entry ! Congratulations !
Loved the idea
I thought this was so hard. That's not bad, it's just how it is. The only thing that irked me slightly was when i figured out that I could die if i go off screen, but the ENEMIES do not. :( i worked hard to get him on that car and drive him off screen, but he didn't die. lol xD Very cool game, love the concept, and the art and motion is saweet.
Thanks, everyone! @fluffy-kaeloky What exactly are you hoping for in terms of dynamism? I had to keep it simple to finish in a jam timeframe, but I'd love to extend this with various types of attacks and special powers. @commanderstitch Sorry you had a hard time with it! If I extend this, the camera will stay on the character, but for now I just had it kill you if you go off screen because I couldn't think of a better answer that would work in the time limit. Thanks for playing!
@pyrian By dynamic, I mostly meant a smidge faster. I personally would have liked for the jump to feel like a real fast jump, faster cars to offer more possibilities etc ... Overall faster is what I meant. Still, it is perfectly understandable to keep it simple for a jam ;)
Well played! That was awesome. At first, I was distracted a lot by the lines and speed of the cars, but once I got used to it and learned to transfer to front and back using different lines, then it was a pleasure to play. Good job'
Love it! It's like a Futuristic Frogger haha. Would have maybe liked to hear some more original music (those Kevin MacLeod creative commons tracks tend to get reused everywhere lol). Let me know If you ever in need some music & sfx for game. Cheers and great work!
This is brilliant! When I got knocked off a car but landed safely on the car that just happened to be passing I was so pumped. It's a great take on the Frogger mechanic. Thanks for a really fun entry.
Good stuff :8ball:
At first I thought it was just a frogger clone with a twist, but man.. I didn't saw the ennemies haha. When you understand the gameplay mechanics it's so much fun. Made it to level 4 but then was overwhelmed and too stressed to make good choices. Really fun, and the audio and arts are good too. Good job man, keep it up !
Not really matching the theme, but so fun ! A crazy idea and a nice realization. Good job !
I would have never imagined needing hotline Miami frogger in my life lol
Thanks again, everyone! @amerigo-gazaway Thanks! Yeah, I just threw that in at the last minute real quick. Think you could do something reminiscent of the music to Spy Hunter but more cyberpunk? The reactions are positive enough that I'd like to extend this game with upgrades and more enemies and stuff. @darriasart Thanks ahaha that is so awesome, can I quote you on the itch page and promotional materials? Lol.
@pyrian Nice! Would love to take a stab at it. Not sure if your referring to the main theme from Spy Hunter (Peter Gunn theme) or something else from the soundtrack. Can you send me a couple reference tracks to listen to get a better idea? (maybe one from Spy Hunter and something more cyberpunk?) My email is amerigomusic@gmail.com.
Nice game as stress relief! But I got a bit of dizziness after a while playing. I hope the main character could be a bit larger and more noticable.
Maybe with a closer camera zoom, and let it follow player? Not sure how it would affect the gameplay.
And a juicy sfx when you managed to kick the enemy would be nice!
@pyrian Would something like this work? Here's an example of a Cyberpunk style music track I created: https://www.dropbox.com/s/pt7euorswgsp1r5/Cyborg%20Highway%20Patrol.wav?dl=0. Or are you looking for something with more of a spy-movie element in the mix?(this approach usually involves leaning more heavily on big band/jazz style sounds/instruments, guitars, strings horn sections etc)
Great concept! Simple but original. I think this would benefit from a clearer graphical representation. I found following the player and enemies is an eye strain. For example, make them bigger and contrast better with the cars.
Very fun. Loved knocking the enemies off cars
Great Frogger-like game!
Loved the ideia, had i great time playing.
I love the concept for this. Ironically, it's much easier than frogger, and that's a good thing- i appreciate it letting me hone in on cars when i jump to them.
Cool concept and execution. Funny interpretation of the theme as well :D
This game is a lot of fun! It's game play is solid and mechanics exiting. I didn't really run into any problems but perhaps instead of waves enemies could constantly spawn so there wasn't a frantic chase with the last enemy.
Beautiful presentation, game explanation is straight to the point. The noise amuses me when I get kicked off of a car hahahaha Good job!! :)
Really cool game, I wish the car speeds were random as it would have made it more difficult and interesting.
Simple and responsive with great art, love it.
Really simple but nice
Clean and really playable. Nice job
Great premise, great execution. Reminds me of that scene from the matrix reloaded in the best possible way. Timing when to jump could be tricky, but in a way that added to the fun and challenge of the game. Great stuff!
@carlsonandpeeters : Oh that makes me so happy, Matrix: Reloaded was a big part of the inspiration to try and make something like this!
I like the feel of the jumpping from car to car. there is a nice satisfying feel when you kick enemies off the car.
Fun game. Great spin on an old game mechanic that took it in a new and very enjoyable direction. I like that you can't by mistake jump off at the wrong time. Once I realized that I had way more fun with it too. Great visuals and music too.
Wow! That was visually challenging! When you wtop playing the worls is shifting away :) I like the concept and the easy controls.
Nice game! As others have said, it wasn’t easy and the player/enemies are sometimes hard to spot, but I liked the fact that if you knock an enemy and there is a car behind, they will just land on that car!
This game is GOOD! Like really good! I liked the graphics, the music but I really loved the smooth controls. Nice idea, great execution!
Great game. Easy to control yet fun and challenging to master. Simple and nice-looking graphics. Well done!
Solid core concept, smooth execution. Pretty good! Action is punchy. Would have loved from more things like powerups / special moves to spice things up.
@joror : Yeah, adding special abilities and new enemies is exactly where I want to take this! Just didn't make it into the jam version, I'm afraid, due to time limitations.
I often lost track of my character, and the whole death mechanic got a bit confusing. Sometimes being hit killed you, and others the traffic saved you, and honestly, I think this is kinda weird. I would get hit, then release the controls expecting death, wonder where the game over screen is then actually die from still being in the game. This was also a pain for the enemies, since the amount of hits required to kill them was random. I didn't really have any control over whether or not a hit enemy dies, since that depended on the position of the traffic; a factor out of my control. Thus, it just felt like RNG as to whether or not an enemy (or I) would stay dead.
Awesome game, high quality for a 72 hour endeavour, good job!
Woohoo, 50 ratings! Thanks for the kind and helpful feedback, everyone!
Interesting little game! I really liked the dynmic of jumping cars and attacking people. After a ahwile you really get into the flow of gameplay. It was pretty hard on the eyes after a while though. all the movement and different velocities of the cars and the moving street below was tiring my eyes. The art was rather basic, so I think you could improve the game in that department and maybe that might fix some of the issues I mentioned before.
Good job nontheless. The game itself works great and is pretty responsive.
Very addictive and smooth gameplay!
Sometimes you get into these little duels with people knocking each other back and forth and it's really great, as well as when there are multiple enemies close by and you have be really careful.
It would be either fun or annoying if the traffic in the lanes changed a bit more in speed, or if cars could start blinking to move between lanes.
It possibly takes slightly too long to get going, but that's a general issue with wave based games and hard to solve without making it very difficult for first-timers.
Got to Wave 3 and $14 000
Very cool game! It makes me feel like I'm inside an action movie when playing. Great work!
