hello world

bismuthbound 2022-10-04 00:00

It is a little tricky to figure out exactly what I need to do or where I need to go at times, but I see a lot of potential in this project from what I could figure out while playing it. The music and visuals as well as the actual setting mesh well to create a cozy and slightly whimsical atmosphere. Using the theme to activate an event every 10 seconds instead of making the events occur for 10 seconds is also a great way to balance the gameplay for the player and gives you a bit more flexibility with the events themselves. Thanks for sharing your talents with the jam!

Nice little game. very laggy on the web version. Make it hard to play

spacefudge 2022-10-04 00:04

Love the pixel art assets with the 3d space, sets the mood real well

ofiro 2022-10-04 00:06

I really enjoyed the atmosphere set by the music, graphics and environment :)

Unlike how some other games have interpreted the theme, your pacing is slower which I like - more comfortable.

thatanonoword 2022-10-04 00:15

It's an interesting little game. Maintaining a bunch of plants and giving them what they need is so fun and unique. It doesn't really fit every 10 seconds though. The art is nice but is a bit excessive on the lighting. There's a lot of unique items you could give to plants, but I think only a few are needed. Other than this, great game!

katie-tooher 2022-10-04 00:40

I really love the water sound. Good splash

stvup 2022-10-04 01:04

The whole mood is quite relaxing, 3d pixel graphics was a great choice! Music is lovely!

remco 2022-10-04 08:31

The art is & atmosphere are lovely, I especially like the careful application of bloom.

I had a hard time keeping up with customer demands due to a little lag, but also that none of the plants' names are never mentioned anywhere -- but the customer refer to them by name! Also given how far apart everything is, and that there are tables in the way, 10 seconds feels on the short side to me (though that could be post-gamejam-day brain speaking).

nikolaj 2022-10-04 15:10

Amazing game feel and beautiful art! I was a bit confused how to go about managing the planties, but then again I am bad at that IRL anyway. Great job!

amanda-neff 2022-10-04 17:03

The gameplay is a bit confusing, but the art is phenomenal!

beefsock 2022-10-04 18:04

I dig the background on the itch page and the amazing pixel art! What a beautiful game your team has put together. While parts may be a bit confusing those issues are overshadowed by the sheer amount of plants and decor to look at as you play.

grump-ai 2022-10-04 18:13

well executed concept! fun gameplay loop and great graphics. 2d and 3d combination worked really well, reminded me of the style of games like TinyKin

parsonb 2022-10-04 18:15

VERY nice aesthetics, really well done on the look and feel of the game. I do wish there was a little more of an explanation on how things worked, it took me a little bit to understand all the different mechanics. Overall though, I enjoyed it!

inkajoo 2022-10-04 18:19

Looks cool, but can't play, it tanks my Legion 5, we're talking 0.1 frames per second.

bloodyaugust 2022-10-04 19:04

As you and others have said, there's definitely some feedback for the player missing here. I didn't know what kinds of plants the customers wanted... Sometimes the name was obvious, but many were not. Maybe icons instead of text would work better here. Indications in-game for where to fetch resources would have been nice, too. But the gameplay loop, when I understood what I was doing, felt solid! The art style is also GORGEOUS. Nice entry! :tada:

david-stevenson 2022-10-05 02:28

Took me a bit to under *how* to play, but when I figured it out it made sense. Really like the art and sound!

oozer 2022-10-05 02:36

top notch graphics keep it up!

robobarbie 2022-10-05 02:44

Like other people have been saying, it took a bit to figure out where to get things, but the whole things was just so dang charming and cute. Feels like the start of a really fun and cute shop management sim!! Love it!!

nyxkn 2022-10-05 09:41

Really really nice art style and visuals! Unfortunately I had absolutely no idea of what I was supposed to do and couldn't figure out how to water the plants. Music and sounds are really well made. This seems to have great potential but needs better instructions / tutorial!

misterstripey 2022-10-06 00:52

Hey! I really enjoyed playing this one on stream. Here's a link to the vod that will be up for a week if you want to share it with your team: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1610268632?t=01h07m46s

This game was right up my alley with fantasy plants and cool characters (Greg the frog man). I know you said the descriptions were missing, but part of the fun for me was discovering the names of the plants and what they liked to eat. Now, that definitely kept me from getting a high score, but I felt like it was a fun part of the game to discover on my own what a Saguaron is. Chill gardening & shopkeeping vibes = A+. Great job to the whole team and thank you for sharing :)

mooptychunk 2022-10-06 01:36

This was very cool looking and challenging. Not sure where I can find the names of the plants, but I enjoyed the trial and error anyway. Great job!

chartle 2022-10-06 01:53

Looks great! A little confusing what to do but those concerns you addressed in the dev notes so it's good to see you thought of that stuff :) Charming game!

tex-killer 2022-10-06 02:12

It took me a while to get the hang of it as well, but once I did I no longer missed any events, got to event 70 and decided to stop. It doesn't have an ending and the difficult doesn't spike, right? Maybe something should be done to give the player a reason to keep playing, otherwise it feels like doing the same thing forever after a while...

Anyway, the art was amazing like others have said, the sound was nice and the game is very well finished. Congratulations!

bozzwtf 2022-10-06 04:41

Hey all - **thanks so much** for the amazing feedback and support. @#$% yeah :metal:

We *love* hearing the different takes and suggestions - and while we're pretty damn proud of "unbeLeafable", ya'll are too kind lol.

We shuffled a bit on a tutorial - and clearly we've got lots to learn. Hope it wasn't too frustrating, but *personally* I'm super-encouraged some folks enjoyed the trial and error. (to some extent )

Don't forget to vote Lots of love, :love_letter:

xparker 2022-10-06 05:41

Neat entry with the eye of sauron looking at you .

I especially enjoyed the moody audio, good fit.

langotriel 2022-10-06 14:54

Lovely presentation! the fully animated pixel art and immersive 3d environment works very well to set the mood, together with the music. It's unbeleafably good.

loveapplegames 2022-10-08 10:43

Pretty amazing work for 72 hours! Good looking and original graphics. At first I did not understand what was going on. I also had to get used to the mouse controls. Maybe better mouse feedback would help, like the mouse pointer changing when you are on something that you can interact with.

midna 2022-10-08 14:33

I agree with the previus comments. Amazing work for 72 hours! Gameplay was a bit confusing at first. Loved the graphics and mood.

samuli 2022-10-09 12:45

Really nice game. A bit confusing at first, but I got the hang of it fast. A run button would be nice as the game had quite many timers.

animawish 2022-10-10 09:37

What a triumph of a game jam game! Absolutely adore the style, and the gameplay loop is neat and thematic. Nice work!

pureimprov 2022-10-11 00:23

Nice! Love the art and all the strange and wonderful plants (:

oddballdave 2022-10-20 23:14

The graphics in this are exactly the kind of style I love in games. In fact the whole thing is quite polished. I'd like to see a version of this that is a little more chilled out. I felt like I couldn't relax and enjoy my surroundings. Having said that it does work as a game, and fits the theme so I'd have to say an all round great entry.

Good stuff :8ball:
