Really fun experience, slow paced and great mechanics. I loved it!

dhim 2021-04-26 09:55

It's difficult to understand where you can fall or where you cannot!

hilkojj 2021-04-26 09:58

The game stays black in Chrome, linux. It was playable in Firefox though, but laggy. However, the game idea is really nice, and the fact that the tower is randomly generated is nice too!

hilvon 2021-04-26 10:00

The game has potential, but it really needs more Depth (no pun intended).

First of all - it appear there is a "correct" direction to traverse each level and trying to leave the level in the wrong direction results in a gameover - even though you don't hit any obstacle. The danger of going the wrong way needs to be telegraphed more clearly.

Then the "disappearing plate" is also a bit confusing. A reasonable person would think that falling through a disappearing plate while it is gone is a good thing because it progresses you to the goal of getting deeper. But no - once again it causes a gameover. Maybe the danger mechanis for those plates should be changed from disappearing to spikes or flames indicating that it is not safe to travel over this one at this point.

kromeboy 2021-04-26 10:23

@hilvon @dhim I think is clear that a visual cue to the dangerous fall. I will add in the post jam version a striped warning band in place of the missing floor tiles

dhim 2021-04-26 10:30

Nah I mean sometimes you have to drop down a level ( at the end of the platform) But if you fall the same heigth through a hole you are dying. It's not very coherent in terms of gameplay. Maybe add some pads where it's safe to land

rainysolar 2021-04-26 10:34

The experience is nice. I could avoid every red balls and red floors , but I always do not have enough patience. Even there is no pressure to push me.I really like the feeling of moving around.

barindwalin 2021-04-26 10:35

Confused by the one-way descent. The dynamics were a bit lacking. If the rings were tilted and folded into a spiral, it would be cool.

clemonades 2021-04-26 13:48

Really like the simple gameplay. Easy to master/understand. Does the difficulty scale as you get lower and lower?

kromeboy 2021-04-26 13:55

@clemonades yes, the difficulty scale. I think that at some point it could become impossible due to multiple consecutive trapdoors

onnofal 2021-04-26 18:24

At first I was confused, red plates are not evil, they are actually good ones! And the point is to get deeper, but to avoid gaps at the same time. Still I got it after a short moment. I also do not much enjoy the inertia of character, I think in such a game some non-physical based controller may work more snappy.

Nice tribute to the Nebulus, I loved it as "Tower Toppler" on DOS, that was an incredibly difficult game. I was surprised I haven't seen any modern approach to this yet, so congratulations that you are the first.

If I may have one more wish, I would populate the platforms with some more kinds of obstacles or enemies or anything challenging - often you need to move a long distance and it gets repetitive a slows down the pace.

annie-owl 2021-04-27 13:19

Nice little game. I wish there was some sort of constant threat. Like the tower was crumbling from the top, and platforms were disappearing one after another - that would make gameplay more challenging and engaging, but I still enjoyed my descend as it is

zorfmorf 2021-04-27 14:53

I had fun playing it!

It takes a bit to figure out how to properly descend and where/why it is allowed or not allowed to fall. On a climbing game, the penalty for falling through a whole or falling in general is inherent, since you want to go up. So here it can be confusing.

Falling damage and save landing spots (cushions or something) could help, since it would also allow the player to gamble on taking a risky jump onto a pad several layers down if the opportunity presents itself.

hypp 2021-04-28 05:26

Great idea! I like these kind of "reverse" games where you take a game idea and flip it around. I felt that it was a bit too easy?

secret-magic-404 2021-04-28 05:42

I like the simple and accessible gameplay. Anyone should be able to play this!

I agree with what @onnofal said. The red platforms look like they should be avoided like the red enemies. Perhaps making them orange or yellow would have been less confusing at first.

The controls were tight, you never feel like the game is unfair to you.

Well done

todward 2021-04-28 18:34

Nice Game! Liked the concept of it. For me it could use a little speed up. Maybe loose a bit precision and allow the user to play the game at double of the current speed.

matt-lowe 2021-04-28 22:56

Great game with simple controls. I enjoyed playing it!

blockerz 2021-04-28 23:01

Nice job making a game in a weekend! I would love to see a little more added for gameplay variety but its good simple game. Congrats on finishing!

6smith 2021-04-29 02:17

nice and simple idea, well implemented. would've appreciated some sound effects though!

dylan-morrow 2021-04-29 04:36

cool idea, I think its been said in many of these reviews that there needs to be some sort of direction as to how far you can fall, its odd that to goal is to go deeper yet the fastest may means you lose. Music would have been nice as well! Procedural was nice and I like the different obstacles! Good game!

antonishig 2021-04-30 18:33

Nice and simple, I like that. Some music would really add to the experience.

rolle 2021-05-01 12:59

I loved Nebulus back in the days! This is a nice reminiscence of that game. Had to play it "just one more go", so that is a good grade right there I think.

I would have loved to see some clearer directions on where you would die falling down, and where not. This could be solved with level-design also I guess. Also maybe adding time to the experience would "spice" the game up, making it so you can't linger around on a level too long. Of course sound and music would also have added some extra spice to the game but I understand that it's not always possible to add all you want in such a short time.

Congrats on a well made and fun game! :rocket:

viperux 2021-05-01 13:08

Nice game, I've lost at around -85m. I would have loved some "risky" but rewarding ways to go down faster (es. small drops with a lot of red platforms with different timings). Well done!

brice-mahier 2021-05-17 02:35

Some game mechanics needed some "try and error" to understand, but overall, nice job!
