Very interesting idea. the animation bone left body is great!

loligxp 2018-12-03 08:34

Nice little game, the only thing missing would be Sound

daniel-abeleira 2018-12-03 18:11

Ha ha the idea is great

Really liked how the centipede feet (and the creatures in general) look! The player's hitbox was large enough that combined with the high, unadjustible jump, I didn't feel like I had much ability to dodge enemy bullets, especially when it came to the four-legged onion-like monsters. That was ok because experiencing the leg system was fun in itself, though. Good work!

Wow! The more I played it, the more I loved it! Great idea, cool mechanics, interesting art-style and great ending! :) One of my favorite entrys

There is something very disturbing about the world and it's inhabiting creatures (well including the playable one), while it is also the thing I like probably the most. Very original, simple but still somehow making tense atmosphere. Even simplest sounds would definitely help to have some feedback, I was not sure at the beginning if my spits actually do any harm to enemies, and/or if jumping on creatures does. Maybe leveling enemies slower too - by having some level 0 with one hit enemy just not to scare you off with current one, that is pretty tough to begin with.

@onnofal Many things could definitely be done better. I wanted to add sound but didn't have enough time to add sound that I like. Gameplay and level design can be better and etc. The thing is, I might have suffered from motivation issues, I took my sweet time and did this game pretty laid back. Most of the levels I did in the last few hours. This is also my first LD, so next time I might be more aware how much time I have.

Maybe part of the fact the world is disturbing is that I was a bit depressed making this game, heh. Anyway, I think I always like to make games that have some element of darkness in them.

I also had a lot of fun drawing the creatures. I decided to do a very dirty drawing, I didn't even bother to clean the pixels outlines so it made the whole press extremely easy/fast and fun.

I think somehow with years of experience making failed games, and the fact I am almost 40, made my first LD a pretty good attempt.

Thanks.

Very cool attempt! Quite enjoyed this one too ! Well done!!

It's simple but it plays well. The idea of eating yourself is fun and interesting.

The only thing I would change is making everything do more damages. Being face to face with an enemy and shooting until one of us die isn't that great, so making you able to one shot or two shot everything, but everything also doing more damages to you would make the game funnier IMO.

Loved the idea, and the way the enemies look and move around! I really liked all the effects of limbs falling around and the enemies shooting projectile. In general had a lot of fun playing this game.

One thing that bothered me though - it's very hard to play this game with Ctrl in web version, at least on mac. My mac kept interpreting Ctrl+Up as bringing up my mission control and messed up my game. Would be nice if this was mapped to a different key.

In any case, great game!

Love that wonky physics gameplay :D

2018-12-14 14:48

Good start! I included it in my compilation video series of games from the Ludum Dare, if you’d like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/aRIyiUZY0TQ

kornel-meszaros 2018-12-15 14:28

I confess I did not really understand the game but it's nice for a compo entry! :)

pompi-pompi 2018-12-15 14:37

You walk around and kill the enemy creatures. After killing all enemies you can pass the level. You press space to heal yourself but it cost you one leg(if you have one). Enemies drop legs and you can pick them up to replenish your legs. You shoot with left ctrl, takes a bit of hits to kill enemies though.

bloodjohn 2018-12-15 15:39

An idea with legs - has the potential.

purrseus 2018-12-15 15:41

I really like the slightly distressing mood your little world creates! The designs are wonderfully weird in their strange creepiness. This worked really well for me. The animation of the legs works really well, too! This all lifts the basically very simple graphics up by quite a few steps!

As with every silent game, sound would have been nice, but it was not hard imagining it, so it didn't hurt the experience by much for me.

The game plays fluently, but fighting the enemies is not that fun, because everything is very tanky. Dealing and receiving more damage would have made it more fun, because right now dodging is very hard while still dealing considerable damage. It boils done to two contrahents standing in front of each other and sponging all their shots.

All in all a nice entry!

And now you have your deserved 20 votes :)

masterkrepta 2018-12-15 16:33

Good start for a simple game and mechanic. I liked the hand-drawn art style.

kornel-meszaros 2018-12-15 16:51

@pompi-pompi ooooh, I missed the healing part. Thanks, I'll take another look!

arron-fowler 2018-12-16 10:53

I enjoyed this far more than I tought I would at first. It is a good mechanic and the different enimies were well designed. It would have really benefited from audio. Great job.

mara 2018-12-17 12:13

I really liked the leg animation :-)

mahalis 2018-12-22 20:42

This is a sublimely weird game - the art style is really cool. Nice work.

patvanmackelberg 2018-12-25 02:36

Very cool use of the theme, it was a great start!

I don't need legs!

Really nice animations, the mechanic is fun but the controls could be tweaked because I pressed space to jump and ended up with no legs and the enemies carried me wherever I wanted to go. Also I think movement should be independent of your aiming because now you can't really aim backwards to shoot the enemies or above/below you.

Good work, hope you can get further next Ludum Dare.

drevilbrain 2018-12-30 21:14

I really like the monster sprites. Kinda reminds me of the stuff I would draw for fun.
