it was a little easy. Me being dub, thought medusa was the enemy and tried to kill her half of the game and i still won 1st try even though i sucked a the game. Make it harder. But, i loved the concept. Keep on making.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD46 → Medusa

@rickerricker26 Yeah, I didn't get chance to tweak the difficulty enough. It's basically impossible to lose without trying to atm:sweat_smile:
Great concept, fun graphics, interesting and innovative gameplay. I love the balance between Medusa being a bigger target but also having more "health" although the game needs to be more difficult and maybe even a little more punishing when Medusa is hit. I liked it! Also loved the twist with the side stuff and the textboxes in general.
Loved the Tentacle mechanic, it's a short sweet experience. Liked the stabilizer, though I didn't use it often. I would say it needs a bit of music and maybe a less grating shoot noise. But, aside from audio, great game!
@bookerbluejay yeah the audio needs a bunch of work, it was always something I meant to get back to, but never did :weary:
Really cool take on the theme. The art work looks really nice and the controls are very good. The tentacles work very smoothly and are a really great mechanic. The game however lacked a soundtrack which could have really added to the atmosphere.
I feel like the idea of tentacles growing out to form weird shapes is underutilized by the current mechanics, but it's a cool idea.
Loved the concept and the graphics are sweet. I also think you could explore more the tentacles. It's fun when they start to disturb me and I have to play around it.
I felt so protective over medusa, I rather sacrifice my ship than let her get hurt, good job on making the player feel that.
the intro story and little dialogues during the game were so fun and well done! you introduce new mechanics during the game in a very smart way.
the ending screen was super, I am glad I finish this game!
👍very good job, I enjoyed this game!
The stabilizer switching and tentacle growth are definitely the most interesting concepts here! Would love to see an expanded version with those ideas explored further.
Excellent game! The self expanding nature of Medusa gave the game a lot of depth unlike traditional save the vip games.
What a thrill it is to have a gigantic monster on screen that we want to protect instead of shooting at it. That's a very pleasing experience, it looks really good, and the dialogue/progression is really nice too! Aside from the lack of music, it feels perfect (it's very easy, but that's not necessarily a bad thing).
Whoa, I just love the tentacles, and how you can shoot them with the ship, or how they wither away when they are hit closer to the core. Great game!
Great game! The graphics look great and the ship's controls are nice.
Great game ! Controls with gamepad are good :)
A game with plane  [I did it !](https://static.jam.vg/raw/3a3/c2/z/2dc9d.pngg)
Enjoy your flight !
That was pretty great, I'm a sucker for pico-8 style anyway but the art was really cute and I thought the mechanic was nicely done with medusa growing and shrinking. The little story, dialogues and stabiliser twist helped keep my interest till the end. Was only missing some nice little pico-8 chip tune to be basically perfect. Great job
Pretty awesome! Art was good, gameplay was alright, and the dialogue kept it interesting. The growing medusa was a really cool touch, probably the best part of the game in my opinion. Though I will say the sound could be a bit annoying, but it wasn't too bad all things considered.
This is the best game I've played so far! The fact that the Medusa snakes behave like they do in "Snake" is really clever, and you should definitely explore this idea further.
As others have already said, the lack of music and difficulty are the only things that could really be improved here. Once or twice I shot Medusa by accident and I was surprised that there wasn't a bigger penalty for doing so.
There is so many truly original ideas packed in this little game. I was first impressed by Medusa herself growing and losing tentacles, but then two times surprised with twists exactly in a moment when I thought: yeah now I've probably seen it all what it offers. And this is excellent.
PICO8 is awesome :) as always
