Nice little game. Liked your character sprite :) The growing vines makes for a very interesting threat. a bit unpredictable (in a good way) that add some tension.
Some pointers: The art is a bit uneven. if you put oulines on your character there should some too on the rest of the assets so that it looks coherent. Some of the elements/ platforms kinda blended with the background making it a bit confusing on where to go/jump at first; It can be easily fixed by adding oulines on what is interractable/solid (platforms, vines, walls) and leave the background without or with thiner/lighter oulines.
appart from that, It's a very nice & cute jam game. Good work :)
Great character sprite, and Victory/GameOver/Menu art. I recognize that Game maker's physics isn't the best, especially as a beginner.
Overall a solid entry for a second game. Keep at it, I can't wait to see more of this style
Really good for a second game. The collisions could use some work, had some difficulty telling when it was safe to attack. I also would have liked it if everything was a bit faster.
It is lovely, surreal and scary. The whole atmosphere - the visuals and music working well together. Skipping few categories to vote in, I did not get that far to judge everything, but what I can tell I like. Requires a lot of patience for starting over and over, and those wines are punishing. It is a great submission anyway.
Cool take on the theme, and a nice lo-fi implementation of growing plants. Hitboxes could definitely use a little work, and it would be cool if different parts grew at different speeds so you didn't find yourself surrounded 20 seconds in.
Lovely little game! Congrats on finishing your second game. Beautiful character art & music. Hitting the vines and being hit by them wasn't always easy to understand, maybe some visual/audio feedback would improve that. Good job!
Nice little game. Played it to the end. I liked the cute player character alot! Other graphics were very simplistic. The vines looked cool as they were growing, but they could have used an outline. I found myself dying several times because I couldn't see the growing vine from the background.
Hitting was a good idea. The hitting animation could have included the hand. Hit range could have been a bit longer as you also easily walk accidentally too close to a vine when trying to hit it. Some sound effects also would have helped to notice when you hit something, when the vines grow, when you get hit etc.
Mood worked for me and it was already set at the cool title screen and the music added to it. The end screen looked good and also continued with the mood, being cute and grim at the same time.
Good game for your second one! Hope to see what you make next time :)
Thanks for the game! Great music!

nice
Nice entry, I love the mood with the idea, the visual and the music! For the gameplay, I feel it's too harsh with dying in one hit, having a health bar and a push back animation for the character when hit would feel way better I think, also maybe the new vines could appear with a preview before actually hurting you, so you know where you can and cannot go. I liked how tortured the vines looks and the idea is super cool, thanks for making the game, keep up the good work!
Very impressive for your second game!
I see that @nusan already said everything I wanted to say - a health bar and a push back animation would be better than instant death, and preview of vines are also a great idea.
Last but not least, I liked the graphics very much, especially in the main menu. It's clean, simple and elegant.
