Very cool asthetic, smooth gameplay, I enjoyed it, 10/10

Cool game!

I really liked the concept, the design, and the art. Very original idea!

It was a bit difficult to move as well as to avoid the asteroids. One of the things that frustrated me was having the asteroids spawn directly on top of the ship. OOF!

Anyhow, great game, and great effort. Congrats on your first successful jam!

Very interesting combo of asteroids and snake. Gameplay is quite simple, but I enjoyed it. Good try!

This is impressive. I like a lot. A was playing Asteroids on a museum piece of Vectrex console few months ago and I am really having a thing for those. Idea based on that recent experience: if I am not wrong, those old school vector displays did not have just an awesome smoothness for which we have cool resolutions now, but also specific glow. If you may add just a bit of some fine adjusted bloom, it may be even more yummy

Good job for finishing the game nice and clean. I could not tell ammo were the little blue dots at first, I thought these were just stars. But it felt like classic fun.

The visuals are nice and clean. Wish there were more mechanics. The mixup of asteriods+snake is a cool concept and could be improved upon. Good entry.

Watch out for the asteroid spawning right on the player at the start. This is the very first impression of your game, and what I got was being insta-killed the very moment I pressed play. Not a very good first impression. (You should release a hotfix for that, really)

However, getting past that (And the couple more times I spawned right next to an incoming asteroid), the game was enjoyable. The longer tail picking ammo meaning that the longer you are, the more ammo you pick, and the more you are at risk of being hit is a nice gameplay element.

The wireframe visuals gives fidelity to the original game this was based on, and the color scheme is well chosen. The audio was nice to listen to and fits the game.

Congratulations in making it to the Ludum Dare 45 !

I have put out a bug fix that addresses the asteroid spawning on player bug. Thanks to all who have played and rated TailWhip!

I wish I could use more ammo  Here is my playthrough:

PS: itch description says 'Ludem Dare' instead of 'Ludum Dare'.

Really liked this entry. Nice design and interesting mechanics, I was catched for a long time. Good job !

some may consider it a blasphemy to be able to fly backwards in an asteroids clone but I actually liked it as an addition and since there are no thrusters it doesn't seem out of place and the physics of the ship feel great in general

Hey thanks for stopping by the stream the other day. I'd give feedback here but... well you already saw me play it. I'd like the VOD but unfortunately the audio mix was kinda bad.

This was a pretty unique game. The movement felt smooth and glide-y and exactly like what I want in an asteroids-style game. The addition of the tail was a cool touch, too. It came in handy when picking up those tiny ammo pellets. One small annoyance for me was that at some point I ran out of ammo entirely, which just ended the game. I think it'd be nice if the ammo respawned when there's no more on screen.

On the whole this was really cool entry. Good work!

PS: I also came at this prompt with an asteroids-inspired game. I went the no fuel route, though, and slowly evolved away from the asteroids-style game loop. It's sort of neat to see how we diverged.
