LD42 — Running out of space

Space Warehouse by meatpudding 2018-08-14T05:13:51Z

I like it. I wonder if I hit a bug or a lose condition? Ran out of space and was able to sell 2 cubes to the empire but could proceed after that

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Deep Descent by Predominant 2021-04-26T06:46:05Z

Great job! I tuned into your live stream and talked with you briefly while you were still ideating, it's fantastic to get to see where you ended up taking things. This game is hard to get started with but challenging enough to really hold my attention and make me want to get better. Playing on mouse and keyboard is punishingly difficult but I'm enjoying it.

Orbdig by 5Mixer 2021-04-26T19:37:02Z

Very fun sandbox game! I didn't feel a strong sense of urgency to do anything in particular but it was very fun to just spam dynamite all over the place and carve out the mine. Only thing I'd change is make button presses at the top not trigger the player to move around

Falling Lad by someoneman 2021-04-26T20:11:59Z

Just when I was thinking it was too easy the enemy caught up and got me. Good game, definitely more challenging than I first thought. I like the tutorial at the beginning but it might be nice to be able to skip it on replay

Altum by tigerfinch 2021-04-26T21:32:41Z

Cool idea and I've love to be able to give it a real try. Unfortunately it's just too finicky to play with a mouse, at least on my end. Maybe if you put a crosshair in the middle of the screen mouse users would be better able to control movement by adjusting their cursor position relative to that midpoint. I'm sure there are alternatives but that's the fastest, simplest option I could think of right off the bat. If you do end up making changes please ping me and I'll give it another go

Diver by hungryroy 2021-04-25T20:46:41Z

Nice job! The music fits well, if you could extend it a bit longer before it loops I think that would be a nice improvement. If I were better at the game I think I'd get tired of it before the end. The movement side to side feels good, but I wish I had a bit more control with the up and down, it's definitely more difficult than it looks to navigate those tight spaces and the hitboxes feel a little bigger than expected. When you lose a life it would be nice to start again with full oxygen. I'd also recommend renaming gems->pearls since that's what they look like! Thanks for sharing your game!

Embark by Pseudohausen 2021-04-26T21:47:42Z

Fun game, was having a great time with it and then it crashed. Hope you're able to fix that! I like the add-on system

Puzzles All the Way Down by Triastase 2021-04-26T19:52:52Z

Game still isn't available on itch, you may not have finished publishing

Deep Voice by mdotedot 2021-04-26T20:44:06Z

it seems like just talking keeps the bird flying, but it doesn't seem very in sync with deepness of my voice. I tried whistling and that kept it up, but then it dropped off. Is it meant to fluctuate in real time? I like the idea

The Alchemist by DallOner 2021-04-26T20:03:03Z

I haven't really figured out the mechanics or end goal, but it was fun to poke at and see how long I could stay alive

Deeper Trance by dhim 2021-04-26T20:38:05Z

This game is absolutely terrifying, I can feel myself being pulled into the sunken place

1 in a billion by EvoGenGames 2021-04-26T21:25:29Z

Probably not the most accurate to life game but challenging movement mechanic in a race against a whole bunch of opponenets!

Go Deeper by Jeffez 2021-04-26T08:47:26Z

I actually like the music quite a bit as a horror theme, if there as an enemy trying to get you it might fit better

The Falling Knight V.S the Endless Pit of Dark Despair by ilPrinny 2021-04-26T20:18:28Z

Interesting mechanics, it wasn't obvious how to play at first but I got the hang of it, seems really hard to beat the game because the random spawns might just screw you over

Miner Rescue by Vasco Freitas 2021-04-26T21:14:21Z

Really tough game! I haven't figured out how to avoid hitting walls/aliens while simultaneously killing aliens

Drop n Grab by samguy 2021-04-26T09:14:01Z

@5mixer There's a trick to it but I think part of the fun is figuring it out

Drop n Grab by samguy 2021-04-27T03:25:29Z

I played it a bit more last night after submitting and made some changes which change the way it plays quite a bit. https://soclosesam.itch.io/drop-2-grab link here for anyone interested in the new changes.

Really appreciate the comments from everyone so far and I welcome any future critiques as well

Deep trouble in the art gallery by Rob Parker 2021-04-26T08:35:35Z

Way to go! It's a short story but it's well done! I really like that you took the theme in a unique direction. I'd love to see a second room, and I could see some cool potential for branching story if you wanted to take it that direction in the future. One recommendation to make it better as a player: click interactions could have some kind of feedback to show me the click was registered. I found myself unsure what the character was doing and accidentally queueing up multiple actions because of it. A combination of a visual indication of a click with cancellation of previous actions on each new action would be nice.

It came out of space by Suchista 2021-04-26T20:25:24Z

Great music, good gameplay, interesting premise! The restrictions on shooting made kiting difficult which made the game more challenging in a good way. The music set a great tone throughout the game. The hitboxes on the blobs don't occupy their whole bodies, only the lower section, I imagine that may have been intentional but it was a surprise while playing

Goldseeker by Budark 2021-04-25T20:53:54Z

itch.io link isn't working for me

Goldseeker by Budark 2021-04-26T17:05:46Z

Any chance you will post an html5 version?

Into The Depths by Nisovin 2021-04-26T22:03:09Z

Good game and it feels complete! Navigating those little tunnels is pretty difficult, I like that dying doesn't feel like a huge loss and you're able to carry your earnings into the next life with the upgrade system.

Mineshaft by ditam 2021-04-27T00:47:04Z

Cool concept, good execution. I'd love to be able to see the cards in my hand fully, the space feels a bit cramped as it is. A better explanation of the game objectives would help too. Hope you keep working on it!

sp0rm by Derean 2021-04-26T22:27:46Z

I didn't buy enough GME stock to understand how to play this game... Nice job!

Tato - Potato by Noel Widmer 2021-04-26T19:58:43Z

Interesting spin on snake! Solid amount of variables makes for good replayability. Those raindrops slowing you down are a nice touch, and I like that there is a way to reset the potato. The screaming when you bite yourself was a little much for me but I otherwise quite enjoyed it

Wilford - Deep Underground by BattleCat 2021-04-26T21:28:11Z

Would love to see more levels and a use for the items you acquire! Nice job, I think you could add on to this and make something really cool

Dig deeper and deeper by Dovahkciin 2021-04-26T08:43:05Z

It's too bad the performance is too choppy to play, I hope you get it fixed so I can check it out

Space Jump by Gaminghamster 2021-04-26T17:26:31Z

A bit hard to figure out and it's difficult to know where a new platform will be placed. Might be nice to have some sort of visual timer displayed for each platform so you know how much longer it will last. Couldn't figure out the purpose of the stars going across the screen

Infinity Fall by Snoopdawg 2021-04-26T19:54:03Z

Link isn't working, make sure you finished publishing

Past the Final Frontier by towergame 2021-04-26T19:05:55Z

Had fun playing, got stuck after a certain point. I think there's a bug preventing me from actually using anything above tier 5, it just cycles back to tier 1 on the launch screen.

Sub-Uber-Marine by extar 2021-04-26T18:39:24Z

Couldn't really figure it out, but it seems cool. A bit more instruction would be helpful. Nice art, movement feels a little bit clunky but it makes sense for a submarine

Prospector Paranoia by Kovi 2021-04-26T17:16:37Z

You did a lot here, thanks for sharing! I only made it to the 3rd level before I ran out of sanity, it would be nice to have a better way to replenish it. Standing next to the light hardly seems to have any effect. It's interesting that more enemies seem to appear as you lose more sanity and some of them chase you around, making it more difficult to stay sane. Insanity is a cool mechanic, if you continue work on the game I'm curious to see what you do with it. I think the doorways to the next level should be slightly wider or easier to access. Also in the browser it would be nice to have a way to replay without refreshing the page

In Too Deep by RefraX295 2021-04-26T19:51:33Z

Had fun playing! I'd like it if the storm didn't happen and I could just keep playing until the enemies overrun the base. You've got a bug happening on replay which results in the same spawn count from last game continuing, effectively overrunning the new base immediately on new game. You could expand on this in the future with more resource types, more turret types, and perhaps the ability to durable walls to force enemies to take a certain route where you can focus them down. great game overall, especially in 48 hours!

Gold Digger by ThatmanRobin 2021-04-26T21:04:06Z

"well damnit the drill's overheated" Love the audio tracks going on. I wish I could better control the drill, most of the time I can't rotate my view properly and I just spin around trying to right myself to no avail. Props to anyone who can master driving this drill. I think I'd lengthen the time it takes to overheat the drill, seems to happen very fast

Dig Deep Get Gold by Tim77 2021-04-26T20:35:07Z

Fun quick little game! I like that the better you do the more difficult it becomes and the timing is different every time because of it.

Damn, that's deep! by Falke 2021-04-26T05:50:51Z

The camera doesn't move evenly with the ball and I end up resetting because the ball reaches the edge of the screen. Unfortunately this stops me from playing for very long.

Damn, that's deep! by Falke 2021-04-26T06:35:04Z

Thanks to @the-neon-shark and @hilvon for talking about this. I now realize I was hitting the pit edge and actually going to the next level. I think this could be made more clear by letting the ball drop down into the pit

RUN FROM STUFF (2D Chase Game) by PookiPoot 2021-04-26T20:47:34Z

Cool concept and challenging game, jumping feels a bit off from what I expect and I end up getting stuck on walls a lot

SCHWOOP - the antiplatformer by Skye S 2021-04-26T17:40:47Z

Well done! Pretty simple and straightforward, made it easy to learn. I like the multiplier and fall speed going up the longer you freefall. The powerups were a nice touch, it would be cool to see more of those as you get deeper

Excavation Site Alpha by petra_the_kat 2021-04-26T05:22:39Z

I enjoyed trying to construct bridges back and forth from one side to the other and get things as deep as possible before they broke. I noticed there were instructions that might better explain exactly how to play, but I just jumped right in and had to guess about the mechanics for a bit. Fun game overall, I think there's room for improvement with the barrier to entry. Maybe by starting with simpler tiles to build a good base with.

Deepest Ocean by ache games 2021-04-26T08:40:00Z

This is great, I really like it! It's impressive how much you were able to get done in such a short time. The core gameplay is simple and not too difficult, but the mix in of minigames adds difficuulty.

Star Trail by Hectare 2021-04-26T18:31:56Z

Pretty good game overall! I found myself wanting to play "just one more turn" many times, good job creating that feeling.

Some typos I noticed: Permise->Premise preform -> perform

other notes: It would be nice to have a better defined objective, I didn't really know why I was doing what I was doing. Clicking on a ship should show its name so that I have a reference point when the dialogs pop up each turn. I didn't see any reason to upgrade one ship over another and just went for whichever one had the cheapest upgrade. If there's a difference it would be nice to have it called out. Sometimes I just randomly lost a ship and it wasn't clear to me why that happened or what I can do to prevent it. It's really difficult to maintain enough scrap and fuel for everything needed. I wonder if you could add a way to replace a lost ship? Thanks for making the game and sharing it, with some additional polish I think you've got something pretty solid here!
