I liked the concept of this remote control for various switches. The gameplay could feel a bit tighter.

- I didn't understand that in the very first puzzle I had to "interact" with the disabled power source before my remote would start working. I was moment away from giving up before doing that by accident.

- The zappy channels were a bit unforgiving and unexpected. I would have my character die before any audio or visual cue occurred on the electricity rails.

- After dying a bit in to the game, my remote seemed to stop working. It was tough to tell if that was the case or if I was just pursuing the puzzle the wrong way.

Those issues aside, I think this concept has good potential! Nice work :)

magnusfurcifer 2021-10-04 09:57

I like the concept and it's on them. It did get a bit overwhelming trying to listen for the right time to cross the electricity floors but that might just be me.

appoxgames 2021-10-04 09:59

I got stuck in the beginning longer than I want to admin, since it says click "E" to interact it was trying to interact with the wall and used the remote etc. There was some unique mechanics like the remote to make it interesting. Well done!

liam 2021-10-04 10:01

I enjoyed this but I did get a bit frustrated with the loud bgmusic messing with my ability to hear the electrified floor. Fun concept with the unstable components and good level design. Will come back to have another crack at finishing. Nice work!

indiemoose 2021-10-04 11:37

Cool game but in my opinion game should teach player what to do and where to go bcs player will get stuck fast when there is no guide lines

guine 2021-10-04 13:18

Nice work! I loved the game!

pashaloban 2021-10-04 13:21

Cool game

paperaeroplane555 2021-10-04 13:21

yeah i had to take a while to understand the "long sound" for the electrified floor :-: and the timer doesnt help hahah

but honestly yeah it is a very interesting concept to have certain abilities of your character disabled (although i would've liked it if it was given some kind of warning) and the music is really good at creating the atmosphere. nice!

qthree 2021-10-04 13:24

I like how you used shaders to make such basic graphics into something so cool.

owl-skip 2021-10-04 13:24

Cool, tricky platformer, really nice. Can't add much which hasn't been said but well done!

aplegatt 2021-10-04 14:20

Nice and simple puzzle platformer. Not sure if the background music being so loud was intentional but it was kinda frustrating in connection with electrified floor :) Good job :)

volkoeb 2021-10-04 14:29

unclear

mvasko2 2021-10-04 15:32

I couldn't finish it, but I quite enjoyed it.

I really liked the music, both the cheerful one at the beginning, and the action one when everything breaks. It got really stressful then, with the timer and everything!

The graphics are also pretty good. The slight curves make it feel really retro.

Nice game overall. I might have another stab at finishing it later.

mlkvr 2021-10-04 16:34

Ahhh that electric fields I have died many times couldnt hear them because background music which is beautiful tunes btw, grinding effect when its under 1minute was cool too managed to finish it in my second attemt, very good game Congrats!

caudatecoder 2021-10-04 19:19

Thanks for the feedback everybody! As bugfixes are allowed I turned down the background music volume.

I also suspect that some of you thought that they can't hear the sound behind the background music, while robot's microphone was out of power. Now I see that this was not communicated clearly enough and UI is kinda bad. That's a lesson I learned this jam  Thanks!

kalevrk 2021-10-04 21:12

I like the addition of the instructions in the bottom bar. I think that it would have been more frustrating without that. I like the style and the different interactions with the environment. Nicely done!

justcallmebb 2021-10-05 03:14

Cool concept! Having to choose the right path based on which skills are disabled is an interesting angle. Level design could use some work (my interact button was disabled when I got to the part with all the doors and had to just sit and wait until it came back) but for 48 hours this is pretty good :)

rustywolf 2021-10-05 03:28

Really like the idea of a platformer with no jump. Some creative solutions to allow for the puzzles to work, nice!

caudatecoder 2021-10-05 09:24

@justcallmebb yeah, I knew this was frustrating at times. I should've dedicated more time to level-design but making all those systems to work (especially the connectors with sound warnings) took a lot of time.

I've got some ideas on how to improve it, maybe I'll make it better after jam. Thank you for playing and giving thorough feedback!

skahd 2021-10-05 10:34

i like the game but its kind of confusing sometime

pkzinpo 2021-10-05 16:58

I really like the game! While only having my left earbud in, admittedly, I did get a little confused at first when you mentioned 'long sound' until I put in my right earbud and figured out that it was stereo sound haha. The graphics and feel are really neat and polished! I did manage to finish, but it was on the second try. For me personally, I think it is a good amount of difficulty. I also like the music! Something that could possibly be added are short alerts to notify the player that something is about to turn off? Other than that, I really liked it, good job!

skleembof 2021-10-05 18:21

This is a great idea, but I think the implementation needs work. When your microphone gets disabled, passing the electric floors becomes a guessing game. I think you need a better way to detect whether you can pass the floor or not.

Like maybe you could see if the bridge was safe to pass by looking at some color led on the opposite side, but your vision is another system that can fail which limits your viewing distance. This way you have to pass obstacles using only vision or sound. You decide which is tougher and then you learn to take advantage of the times when your systems are functioning to pass over the more difficult obstacles. There's a lot of room for experimentation here.

The graphics and sounds were impressive and the overall presentation was great.

jackaljk 2021-10-05 20:17

Great soundtrack and mechanics, well done!

kuro917 2021-10-05 21:08

Impressive art and music, very cool!

slimmerburger 2021-10-05 21:52

I liked the concept behind it, but I found it really hard to get past the electric floors. The sounds and music were really good too, just think the gameplay could've used a bit of tweaking, still a great entry

caudatecoder 2021-10-06 12:57

@pkzinpo thank you for detailed feedback, I'm glad you enjoyed it and made it to the end!

@skleembof > When your microphone gets disabled, passing the electric floors becomes a guessing game

That was kind of the point of having them. They get too dangerous without microphone so you must avoid them. This should've been communicated clearer  And levels should have ways around them when the mic is off

> your vision is another system that can fail which limits your viewing distance

That's a great idea, I thought about it as well. I just decided that it will be too hard to make right in 2 days.

Thank you for detailed feedback!

jefvel 2021-10-06 18:31

Neat little game! I wasn't super sure how everything worked though, but I managed to turn on the big battery and win the game anyway. As far as I understand the R and space tools get turned on and off randomly and you need to work around that.

It could be a bit clearer if the icons for the different tools were displayed on the objects they can interact with in the level. There was some info text at the bottom too, but it became a bit tricky to read when you have a countdown timer you have to play against.

For it being your second jam and first compo ever you did good! Actually finishing a game in that time period is a challenge, well done!

drunkardwolf 2021-10-06 19:09

Hey, thanks for playing and streaming my game, really found the video helpful. Loved this entry, the visuals and audio especially, gave me a retro vibe, similar to the classic 3DRealms platformers Duke Nukum and BioMenace. If I had to criticise one thing it would be that the electrical bridges seemed to hit me when they were off, not sure If I was using them wrong, but maybe giving them a 'charging' visual/sfx before they turn on to give me an indication before they turn on. Otherwise a great entry, really enjoyed.

caudatecoder 2021-10-06 20:10

@jefvel thanks for your feedback! Yeah, I totally see that UI needs huge improvement. I'll try to fix it up after review :)

@drunkardwolf thanks, glad you enjoyed it! > visual/sfx before they turn on to give me an indication

They actually do have a sound effect warning. Maybe you couldn't hear it because of stereo sound like Skleembof did? Or maybe you missed the part that the robot's microphone turned off and you couldn't hear the warning? It was communicated through the bad UI I talked above  I totally should improve it

str8griz 2021-10-07 03:36

Great mood and feeling to the game, it did take me a little bit to figure out the controls but got it figured out in the end!

mchs-productions 2021-10-07 08:25

Very fun to play, 5/5 would recommend

ludokultur 2021-10-07 17:10

The audio and graphics create a really tight atmosphere. It got hard to hear the sound cues clearly, which I assume was intentional. Very nicely done!

agrdev 2021-10-07 17:12

Amazing! Love the visuals and sound  It's cool there are multiple paths through the level depending on your state and luck  I didn't understand the microphone purpose while playing, until I read your description afterwards  Great work!

montazhnikus 2021-10-08 19:08

I really liked the graphics and music. This is especially the effect of a picture tube. BUT PLEASE ADD JUMPS! Their absence pisses me off!)

caudatecoder 2021-10-08 19:39

@montazhnikus haha, thanks for your input  That was intentional, but I'll consider that. Maybe not exactly "jumps" as it won't fit the character IMO, but maybe some sort of jump-jet or jet-pack :)

apples-mmmmmmmm 2021-10-08 21:01

Nice entry! Before crossing the first electric path I definitely mistook it for an area that should be fallen through, rather than run across, perhaps reworking the graphics to look more like an electrified platform would be helpful there. Having a progress bar or something to let the player know when the next shift of usable tools would happen would probably be useful in deciding what path they might take. Some visual indicator of which radio device you're going to send signals to when you get close enough would be nice as well. Good job on forcing the player to learn how each of the tools works before advancing to the stage where they've all broken down.

caudatecoder 2021-10-08 21:58

@apples-mmmmmmmm thank you for very detailed feedback! great suggestions I'll keep them in mind

vphyre 2021-10-09 02:20

Very good game. The 3 main mechanics are very interesting.

The graphics are well produced, and match the game's proposal.

The sound is very good, both the music and the sound effects. Although I would like the volume to be a little lower, or have some control over the sound volume.

I also really liked the gameplay, the interpretation of the theme was very creative and well implemented. It was fun and even exciting to race against time using the two non-disabled mechanics.

A curiosity is that I for some reason for a few minutes believed that I should use my microphone (talking or making noise) to be able to access some functionality of the game hahaha.

Anyway, it was a good job!

caudatecoder 2021-10-09 08:39

@vphyre haha, that's a good one  Thank you for your feedback, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Yeah, this game totally needs the explanation of what microphone's purpose is

coderaurus 2021-10-09 09:37

Interesting idea. Unfortunately, I felt the game lacked clear instructions thus making the experience frustrating at times. For the electric fields, it would be cool if there was a visual cue in addition to the sound. Without the sound it just feels RNG in a bad way.

Other than that, the game looks nice and has good tunes. It fits the theme. Only the menu music was very loud for me.

Well done!

caudatecoder 2021-10-09 09:53

@coderaurus thank you for playing and giving me feedback!

> Without the sound it just feels RNG in a bad way

That was the point of them but I failed to communicate it through both UI and level-design. You must avoid them and take a different path when your microphone fails. Same as you would try to find a path without charger tool when it's out of power. But then again you really should not be learning this from comments

ubershmekel 2021-10-09 18:07

The music was a bit sharp and chirpy for my taste but still pretty cool. I was a bit confused and frustrated by the game. I wasn't sure whether or not I should learn the pattern of the electric floor, or try to avoid it. The fact it seemed kind of random with sometimes a quick double burst, and sometimes a long burst, made it just unclear. Even though I got to the end of the game, I didn't feel like I used the "look up/down" mechanic, I just kind of tried things. This idea seems to have a lot of potential. I would recommend to make the obstacles better telegraph their intent - one that always kills you, and one that has a consistent death-notdeath cycle. That way, I would spend more time making choices instead of researching the timing. The art style was cool, the robot was neat. And the game itself played real smoothly. Great job. Thank you for the game.

lovor 2021-10-10 12:02

It's a great game, but I still don't understand why I need a microphone)

solah 2021-10-10 16:05

I liked the puzzle design, the art and music are cool too! That's a good game, well done!

pat-cleaver 2021-10-14 15:44

fun game, interesting set of puzzles. Especially impressed that this is a compo entry, congrats!

lcstark 2021-10-21 12:37

A fun puzzle game. The aesthetic side is great, the game both looks and sounds like one of the classics. The round robot character made me think of Supaplex, though it turned out to be a totally different kind of puzzler.

The random nature of malfunctions can make the game impossible to complete. In the second level, there's an area where there are three platform levels, each one with the connector obstacle. When the microphone malfunctions, there's no way of telling if they are safe to pass or not, so I had to just wait until the mic fixed itself.

Another problem with that area is related to the same location. I got stuck on it for quite a while, because no matter where I was standing, I could hear the sound from more than one connector, which made it difficult to know when to move on through. Eventually I've managed to get through it by moving the camera away, but it didn't feel like it was the intended way to solve this puzzle. And immediately after that I got a series of doors which all needed to be charged to open, so I dashed through it afraid my charging system would malfunction in the middle and force me to wait again.

Overall, I really liked the concept. Given more time to design more levels with more types of traps, it can become a very good puzzle game. For now though, it's a very good LD compo entry. Well done!

caudatecoder 2021-10-21 20:20

@lcstark thanks a lot for such detailed feedback!

Yeah I know this wasn't much fun. I actually already reworked (but not published yet) that part — now systems don't turn off on timer, instead you can go to one of the "rebalance" stations. This way you are actually engaged and not just wait even when the path ahead is blocked. Now I want to add a few more levels to the game so a player could get used to the sound of electric floors and microphone system before adding stress of the timer running out. I hope to finish this update this week!

Anyways thanks again for playing and leaving feedback!
