Nice music :)

Great Little game. Pretty simple to use 3D Platformer, and I love using swords. Great work.

alina-baybulatova 2021-04-27 09:42

I really liked the character! Great job gyus))

one-truth 2021-04-27 15:36

I loved the character and the music! I really enjoyed it :)

kro 2021-04-27 15:43

Requires polish, imho. But anyway nice game.

teshimoto 2021-04-27 20:21

I like it :)

jfroggg 2021-04-27 21:00

@kro I fully agree. I think a big part of my issue was a late start and giving myself basically compo rules. All the models and all of the code was made during the jam and everything you see is basically what I had time to make. I even had to leave out a whole bunch of work I had done because of issues with my scripts. I've never actually done one of these definitely a huge learning experience. Hopefully next time I either a) Have made progress using Unity or b)Got together with someone to work as a team. Also 100% going to use free resources when needed next time. I'll probably still make the characters but I'm going to definitely leave out the stuff I don't need to spend time making. Thanks for playing though :)

I love the character and the game is overall fun to play, the checkpoint were well distanciated making the gameplay challenging and interesting, the only critique I have is that I could not fully understand how it fits with the theme. A part from that the game is very well made! good job!

flashviper 2021-04-29 15:35

Nice! I like the graphics!

jfroggg 2021-04-29 15:52

@flashviper Thanks that means a lot especially coming from what I just played from you!

pat-cleaver 2021-04-29 16:31

wait so the music is made by a generative system? That's super cool! Also, gotta love an anthropomorphic frog called Greg, you won me over just with that.

david-wallett 2021-04-29 16:39

Thankful for your checkpoints!

Nice plate-former game with a really great effort on character (modeling, animation, etc) and also music. It's a base but yes, it needs some feedbacks and polish to make this experience more enjoyable. For me the priority is the camera: sometimes it's very hard to see where you're gonna land during a jump with this point of view. But it's great job for game jam

Very cute graphics. I found the platform jumping somewhat frustrating - it was hard to know with the perspective camera how far I was going to go and where I'd be supported on lilypads/platforms etc. rather than falling through. But it had a very neat look to it, and obviously a lot of work. Doing a 3D game is quite ambitious, and you should be proud of what you got done.

jfroggg 2021-04-29 16:56

@duck-reaction Yeah the camera. This is a sore point for me especially! I had several camera systems in place and I wanted to have a Crash Bandicoot style follow through the map style camera but I ended up having to pull it last second and go with the base camera. I made some really cool code though while working on the other camera. Where it autogenerated a path and it did work but Cinemachine's tracking didn't quite work completely how I would want. I have some plans to expand on the idea though and it's not a total loss. Yeah this is going to def be a focus in the future. Ironic the thing I spent the most time on didn't even end up in the game haha Thank you for playing though :)

jfroggg 2021-04-29 16:58

@pat-cleaver The music was a track that was completely generated yeah! I used the track and modified it in audacity into a couple different tracks I placed throughout the level to give it a little more variety from the one generated track. Pytchie is super cool and one of the easier tools like it I've used.

flying-dog-fish 2021-04-29 17:01

That frog is really cute and I find it hilarious that it's allergic to water :frog:

neshtyak 2021-04-29 17:30

Awesome froggy =) I think it's great thing that made only in 3 days

sheinxy 2021-04-29 17:33

Well, it's a small platforming game but I like it! I'm usually not a fan of platformers where the characters feels a bit "heavy" but here it was actually pretty nice

The game was a bit short though, but that's normal for a game jam

Will there be a post-jam version? :3

narom42 2021-04-29 19:52

It's a decend 3d platformer. Nothing fancy but I hope you had fun and learnt a lot that's what jams are for. I might be mistaken here but I think you used a rigidbody to move the character. It felt a bit heavy to move, if it is the case then next time use a CharacterController for this kind of simple controls. If it is not then tweak a bit more the settings (speed and stuff) because Crash bandicoot is a nervous game. Have a good one.

jfroggg 2021-04-29 20:01

@sheinxy There definitely will be something coming out of this I hope. Like the player script I have here I actually think if fleshed out could feel a lot better and it's a physics based controller which I've never actually been able to make work until this point. I've always wanted to make something like Crash Bandicoot and I think some of what I have here could be useful. I'm more of a modeler myself so this was way outside my scope looking back but there's only one way to improve and it's to just keep trying right?

sheinxy 2021-04-29 20:19

@jfroggg yeah! Keep trying, keep making games, that's how you learn and improve!

rick2112 2021-04-30 18:46

The frog looks amazing. But you neglect other stuff. The water could be mutch more like water. Nice game

msipp27 2021-05-02 13:30

The movement feels really akward, other than that It's ok at best, boring at worst.

starerik 2021-05-09 07:56

I hope you finish the game post-jam, because you got something here. Good job!

tad-i-guess 2021-05-14 17:02

This is really cool, I like Greg!
