Really easy to understand and the core gameplay is a lot of fun. I like the idea of falling through to the next level, the enemy movement varieties were nice and the powerups made progressing fun. Nice art style too.

This was a really cool game. I really liked the different items. the game really gave me a binding of isaac feel
My favorite game that I've played so far! It's a lot of fun making progress slowly and seeing yourself become stronger. Would love to see this idea expanded!
the progress of this game attracts me so well !This is game is cool and it really reminds me of the binding of issac lol. Nice Job!
Good reuse of chess moves and other classic move of board game industry with rogue lite mecanics :) Really nice game ;) congrats
Lovely art style!
The core game functionalities are very nice. collecting powerups, dodging the enemy, falling through hole to another level is a nice concept.
Definitely some of my favorite gameplay so far this jam. I got to the Jack of Hearts and then when I tried to go another level down, the game froze while I was over the pit. Not sure if that was the end of the game.
But well done, very smooth! Toward the latter half of the game, I had so many upgrades that it seemed like I could move anywhere, so the game wasn't as exciting, but there sure were lots of bright colors to keep me entertained.
Wow this game is amazing. The gamedesign is refined and clever. Creating something like that in such a short period of time is simply impressive. And the soundtrack! It felt so good, the whole experience was super relaxing.
this was really cool. I definitely liked the feeling of progression giving you more and more ability to move as you went on. was also satisfying to kinda think outside the box to get the items so it was super rewarding. I had the run die to a bug where I went to a hole but didn't fall through then couldn't move anymore. no biggie of course, it's a jam. Awesome job taking a simple concept and really fleshing it out with the powerups and enemies.
Really liked the mechanics and the gameplay! Nice take on the roguelike genre. Just thought that it shouldn't be as easy as it is to get to the next level, especially when its must harder to actually get upgrades. Overall, nice game!
I liked it, kinda easy to get stuck in no-win situations on some floors though, the chill music really added to it.
I love the idea of the game, it is easy to learn and hard to master. In my opinion it can be a full game, for mobile platforms and PC ofcourse.
I really liked it and I think it's the jam game I spent the most time on! I just had a hard time keeping track of bonuses I already had and how long they lasted but like I said it's pretty fun and have a lot of potential
Really cool idea !
That's a really nice game. Funny, interesting and moody.
I really liked the art style also really cool idea not like the thousand of deep sea and mine shaft games. Good Job!
This game is really fun, nice work
Addictive game play! Great music and simple and awesome art! Good job! There perspective works really well in this game!
Loved this! Real "return of the lich" vibes, really loved the concept and the art
So, you did right by focusing on the core gameplay. As you said, there were some things missing that would have been nice, but you often have to make sacrifices for the length of a jam and choosing the right ones can be tough. I think you did that here. This game with more menus but less core gameplay would be definitively worse, for example. Keep it up!
I liked the core idea of the game and thought it was well executed. Well done with the art as well.
Very innovative and felt great, great joh
Very fun and addictive! It's pretty, it sounds great, it's got it all. This is one of my top 2 LD games I've seen so far. Unfortunately both me and my friend's game froze. For me, it happened when I double clicked on the hole above me as I was being attacked
A turn-based roguelike! Always glad to see. Great idea, great music, simple but pleasant graphics. I sincerely enjoyed the production quality on this game. The only things that I wanted to see would be the ability to use arrow keys, WASD, or 8624 on the numpad instead of the mouse, and the ability to press something to wait a turn instead of the timer. If you like this type of game you should look into the 7DRL challenge next year. It ended recently nd there are a lot of good traditional roguelikes. Super pleasing to play, so much so that I went back and played some of your other LD games, really unique stuff, keep it up.
Great game mate. I really enjoyed the whole aesthetic of the game and the music was also very fitting for the style. I only wish I could possibly hover over the skills to see if it would be worth trekking across the map to grab or just move on to the next stage. Keep up the good work yo!
This is a fantastic take on the theme. I love the scribbly art style. It fits really well with the music. This could have used a mute/volume control because it was a bit loud, but otherwise this is great. Well done! One question - what does the Anvil powerup actually do? It says allows you to "fall" downwards? How is that different than going through a hole normally?
This is really good! I love the visual design and I love the gameplay even more! The small levels, predictable enemies, lots of different powerups.
There's one thing I would change though and that is the automatic time progression. I often had the situation that I would have liked to really analyse a level, the enemies and my options to try and find an optimal strategy. With the automatic time progression I couldn't always do that and sometimes had to drop a level, just to save myself.
If that would be changed this game would go from really very good to simply great. (Oh, and maybe the things that you wrote you didn't have time for, like menus etc. but such things missing doesn't bother me too much in a jam game.) Let me know if you plan to make a postjam version (maybe with an option to turn off the automatic time progression? :smirk:). I would love to play that.
You really did polish the gameplay, it was a fun and rewarding experience. I kept going deeper and deeper to find new upgrades to play with until I felt totally over powered. The only reason I stopped playing was because the game got stuck for some reason after I jumped into a hole. The animations and music would still play but I couldnt interact with the game anymore.
By far one of the most fun games in the jam so far, great job!
Very innovative gameplay. I like that there are a lot of different powerups, though I found it a bit confusing at times because there were so many to remember. It felt a bit too hard to pass behind most enemies to get the money I needed for further powerups. Maybe I'm just bad at this  Really nice music too!
Had a lot of fun playing this probably way too long. I love the chill music, just wanted to hang out there and make enemies run after me all day just to stay in the mood. A slick entry overall!
How did you come up with such an interesting mechanic and idea? One of my favorite games now!
I love this!! Excellent Mechanics. Reminds me a little of "Into The Breach". The only thing I can criticize is that he music does not go well together with the retro music, it felt like it came from a different browser tab or so. Apart from this very well done. Some ending and permanent progression would be nice! :)
Thanks so so so much for playing everyone! Here goes, a mega response!
@carraka @thetimesweeper @cody-miner @skleembof I’m actually really happy to hear it crashed for ya, I believe it crashed because you found every single item, and the shop had no idea what to stock. So that just means you played for waaayyy longer than expected! I would fix this bug, but the issue is I then have nothing to give the player (money would be worthless and you’ve got enough hearts). Thanks for playing and sorry for abruptly killing your runs!
@raptor851 some levels are impossible without certain items, and whilst the game is optimised to avoid that, you can always leap in a hole. Quite often though there’s some neat way to get the thing, ya just gotta think out of the box. Thanks for playing!
@harrison-dunn the anvil allows you to move to the bottom of the current level, not to the next one. That’s bad explanation on my part, but glad you enjoyed!
@quetzakol if I were to continue the game (don’t think I will) I’d limit the number of power ups you can hold and make you pick and choose. And better ui would certainly be in order!
@oc1d umm there is no retro music, I think that seriously is a different browser tab.
@maybeagoose woa favourite huh, thanks I’m glad you loved it! I came up with this cos I wanted to use the theme in the mechanics, rather than just using it as the setting (e.g. underground). And idk bits just built up from there, I thought enemies could be dropped to the next level for risk / reward, then that flowed into the no attacks and movement system.
I had a lot of fun playing, though I didn't understand what I was doing. I just kept dropping through holes until a monster caught me! :)
Man, what a great game, for real, and also love seeing you talk big game like that, "sorry for missing menus but core gameplay is as strong as ever", and let me tell you, it really is, designwise the most daring and cool game i've seen so far in this jam, It's more of a pacifist rouguelike take on Pawnbarian, and it works wonders, absolutely fantastic, if you were to add those menus and stat trackers and perhaps some kind of boss, this would be already ready to ship, the simplistic art honestly is very charming and adds a lot, the sound is also very pleasant, incredible work!
@justcamh maybe retro music is the wrong word for this. There are realistic sounding strings and then there plays a melody and it sounds like it is a very simple/retro keyboard tone. It does not really fit IMO and it definitely comes from your game :D
I can not believe you pulled off a game design like this. When it comes to "a roguelike without combat", you lose so many levers to pull on for upgrades and you assume the game will be too simple. You managed to find ways to keep it very interesting though, mostly due to the hole and obstacle mechanics.
You figured out so many clever angles on the upgrades and they're a joy to get. In all honesty, gaining access to new types of movement in this sort of design is WAY more interesting than just getting a sword that does more damage. You've really shifted my mindset from this game.
Collecting all the upgrades becomes an intrinsic goal quickly, and you start to feel like a god as you gain more and more powers and can tackle trickier situations. I may have been 4 or so upgrades from having them all but my game did freeze up :O
I actually really, REALLY liked the music choice. It was a very pleasant loop and took the edge off of bad situations and dying. Bold and good choice.
Just a brilliant design all around and one of the best I've played this jam!
This was an amazing game! I really enjoyed it!
Sadly I didn't quite understand how to outplay these enemies, I just kept dropping in hope there is some upgrade/money near me so I can take it and leave. But the idea is really cool and I can totally imagine a full-blown game with a concept like this! Also the music is very fitting as well :)
This was AWESOME. It's one of those games you just want to keep getting further and further. I don't know why I thought the monsters falling down the holes was so funny, but it got me every time haha! It takes a little bit to figure out all the movement stuff (including the enemy movements) but the indicators help immensely.
This is a very fresh take on the theme and I loved the mechanics, I'm not entire sure what the idea was behind use cards, but it was cool that each card suit had its own style (diamond = crystal, clover = grass, spade = rock, heart = dices)
Suggestions if you plan on working on this more (and I suggest you do its amazing): -be able to view inventory (items you have picked up) -Mouse over upgrades so you know what you are picking up -More of all of this **PLS**
I ended up playing more after I ended stream so I could see how far I could get and I had a killer run >:) it ended up bugging out I think because I had all the upgrades I couldnt drop down or move anymore xD
Well done all around though!

That was the first game in this LD that I gave 5 stars in all categories. It was just so good. I spent lots of minutes and didn't get bored. One of the bests by far.
I love the combination of beauty with creativity, very well made parabens, appreciate the opportunity to know your work, a big hug to everyone, and keep your reviews referenced in my game.
Very neat idea. It’s like they took my favorite dungeon from Zelda 1, reduced it down to its core element and made it endless. The art is simple but has a nice cohesive aesthetic. The music is pleasant and isn’t distracting. The mechanic is a little complicated but the UI makes it very easy to understand, and you’re never left wondering what your options are. Excellent Submission!! Thank you so much for bringing this game by my stream. Here's a link to the VOD: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1006750294?t=6h55m40s
Very nicely done! The presentation carries a clear aesthetic. I quite like the 2D gameplay in a 3D world.
Game to ez as it is but really cool concept!
I really like the core concept! Having the whole game based around movement, every power-up increasing the capabilities, it's really interesting. Still not sure how to defeat enemies though. I guess it has something to do with the red arrows, but after dancing around enemies I couldn't figure out a way to make them fall. I only succeeded to do so by accident! Maybe there could be some sort of tutorial (given that it also took me several attempts to understand the mechanics). But even with this, the game was fun to play! It is a puzzle that offer interesting choices without being too much complex. Eventually I became invincible and literally had all the upgrades, but that point was fun to reach. Good job!
Very cool, you hit a point though where it stops being challenging. Would be interesting to see if it could get harder somehow.
Hi cam! at first i didn't think much of it, i'll be honest, but damn, as soon as you start getting powers as seeing what you can do, it's like you can see through the mechanics, and it feels fantastic. Man. I actually really liked it, i'll keep it around to play during zoom classes! I played the bugfixed version, as it's what the game was intended to be, anyways! I think that something that pushes you to fight the dance around the monsters would have been great. I mean, you have to go around them in order to get the powerups, but you can always go to the next level if you don't think you can do it. IMO, a level limit (with some kind of boss encounter or something? or maybe a "get X money before level X" mechanic?) would have been great to push the player into really thinking what they do, and to push for the powerup or try again next level. Having the turns go in real time was weird to wrap my head around, as were the moves of some enemies. Some were quite obvious, the others not so much. After a while i got used to it! It makes you think fast while you are in the thick of the action, which is cool. I don't know which one i'd prefer. Also, a bigger playing field (or closer camera) would have been nice too! Overall, dude, this was great.
Brilliant! Very addicting core loop, I wish there was an ending :)
Core of the game is really cool and good, "deeping" effect too, well done!
This is what I percieve as a perfect game jam game. I'm glad you opted out from humor. It's nice that I could give you 7x5*
Wow! One of my favourite games so far! I really liked the design of this, I had to think carefully, but also move quickly.
I liked the aesthetics, but felt it was a little chaotic on the later levels and hard to follow and keep track of all the enemies.
Brilliant! Really impressive work for a jam game, lovely mechanics, feels like with some polish this could be worthy of a proper release. I got quite addicted... Congrats, one of my favourites from this LD.
Okay, this is quite awesome! Music is just great and so fitting to the general atmosphere. Graphics are pleasantly quirky.
And the gameplay is just addicting. I just kept going for one more try and one more try. Very cool idea and truly great implementation. Some minor improvements can be made - like a tooltip that will tell you what a thing does before you pick it up, some additional sfx, some ending or an end-score kinda thing if you'd like to go endless with this concept.
But this is a very cool piece of game already. Very well done!
I really liked the idea and implementation of this- the items had crazy variety and uniqueness. Really sad to see that this had no ending- I seemed to have gotten every item that the shop floors ended up empty, and only money bags spawned. I'd love to see this fleshed out post-jam to have some sort of resolution, excellent work on the entry!
I really like this game! The graphical style is great, the gameplay pulls a lot of depth out of a very simple and easy-to-understand core, and the music just ties everything together. Great work!
Ok I really enjoyed it, loved the music it gave it a nice atmosphere. The gameplay was hard with the wrong cards but very fun once you got going :) I really like the drawing style also. I don't have a lot to add except that there is no win condition but you already mentioned that. Also it's not really clear that you really die when you lose your hard because you just skipped back. Another thing was that some of the enemies could float over holres and others fell in, it was not clear which ones could do that. Aside from these minor things it was really polished and a fun idea. Great entry :)
Hey! @justcamh played our game last weekend, and I just found out about it, so I decided to check out yours! [I played it on stream](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1023963888?t=03h04m22s) :)
I really like the concept and the core mechanics. The gameplay feels polished, and so do the graphics! It doesn't seem very challenging at first, but I found out it was surprisingly easy to run myself into a corner when I tried speedrunning through the levels.
I think it could be a little bit clearer what each enemy does / how they move, but I did learn after seeing each a few times. Pretty nice overall. Very cool idea with the deck of cards :)
Thanks for providing a Linux build!
