The music and visuals are amazing. Crouch felt a little unresponsive sometimes, but since I almost never needed it that wasn't too bad. I think some of the collectibles are slightly out of reach? Loved how the progression of everything was so well tied together. A few checkpoints were a little mean with needing to immediately turn hard, but nothing too bad. You guys made so much damn game I'm impressed that I had as few problems as I did. Very well done guys.

great my eyes - i love it

pohko 2021-04-28 01:52

Wooooow, this was super cool. Really fun take on the theme, and the environment and post processing is so freakin fun. It's super chill, I'll probably keep taking a trip from time to time. Congrats! :mushroom:

nedmakesgames 2021-04-28 04:43

Wow, super impressive! The graphics are all really pretty, and the shader work is top-notch. Towards the end, the bloom and chromatic aberration started to hurt my eyes a bit, but I think it's worth the experience. Also, I could see myself listening to the music outside the game - it was great! I especially liked how it synchronized with specific points in the course.

Gameplay was fun! The course is also surprisingly long for a ludum dare game! My only complaint here was that crouching didn't seem to really do anything, besides maybe dodge under obstacles.

The theme is fun too. I was not expecting to see that first foot in the forest - I guess I should have expected it from the game's name!

Anyway, great entry!

Absolutely amazing soundtrack and a mind-bender of a trip

jin9310 2021-04-28 07:42

I really love how you approached the theme and that you have basically made audio-visual experience, which feels really fresh among other entries. It was a nice trip! :) Great job!

raptor851 2021-04-28 14:31

I loved it, great visuals and sound, responsive controls, very satisfying. My only real complaint is near the beginning that first dense grove of trees with the set path has a nearly impossible right turn followed by left that you have to turn well in advance of both and need pretty tight timing to make it through, it's by far the hardest thing in the whole game and it's right at the start so it may cause people to give up right there. Also those little groves right by the finish have gaps in them that look like you can fit through but you can't, it looks like you just smack an invisible wall if you try.

rhoka 2021-04-28 17:35

@raptor851 Thanks for playing and glad you enjoyed it! Sorry you had some trouble with the beginning part. We had very little gameplay testing and you always get really good at your own game so it's always difficult to balance what you think is easy or hard with what a new player experiences. AS to your concern about invisible walls, we had a lot of assets to create and keep track of and some of the hit boxes didn't always align perfectly. I tried to make them as close as possible in the time we had. Thanks again for trying it out! :)

rexgame 2021-04-28 19:23

it is a great game !

theg 2021-04-28 19:35

The name didn't sink in before I started playing this so I was in for one hell of a ride. Started as a nice skiing game before becoming what it did. Loved it.

korfi 2021-04-28 19:36

It was a really nice game, great audio and visuals! All in all a very satisfying experience :D

dazrow 2021-04-28 19:37

Captivating visuals! And also quite picturesque. As for improvement wishes - I think the game could you a bit more dynamics, with more variety of sharp turns and slopes? Cause quite a lot I could just go in a straight line and still complete huge chunks of the map. Other than that - a very solid work. Great job!

chrisap 2021-04-28 20:47

The audio visual experience was definitely something new. I was vibing the whole way through. The controls were simple and it felt relaxing to cruise along a trippy road. I kinda wish I could crouch while moving from side to side but you have to stop moving sideways before you can hold crouch. Great game <3

testudor 2021-04-28 20:50

Really cool! I especially liked the music transitions between the areas.

jvdwijk 2021-04-28 22:29

I really liked the experience, very very chill!

2bitcrook 2021-04-29 01:03

An absolute trip indeed!

Wonderful visuals and music make for a great ride all the way down. This is the first game I've played that made me go "wow...this in VR would be perfect!" but even without that, is a wonderful visual splendor!

So glad you implemented checkpoints, and quite a good number of them too!

A very minor crit would be the hitboxes on the collectables being a little bit bigger would be nice as I felt like sometimes I missed them and was quite close, but that's really the only thing I can think of that was room for improvement.

Great job everyone who worked on this, you did great!.

jokerbomb 2021-04-29 02:02

Very well done =) As a New Englander, I can safely say glades of any time in third person is terrifying! A lot of my feed back is already stated here so, I'll just leave you with a well done!

6smith 2021-04-29 04:04

that was awesome no complaints just that i want more lol

marcmagus 2021-04-29 14:27

Thanks for sharing your game! I've managed to locate the log file; it's too big to post in here, if you have an email address you'd like me to send it to?

One thing that jumps out is a repeated: > NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object > at CheckpointManager.Update () [0x0009f] in <88014c02b6f04333a615dd9dfcd87996>:0

But probably just a coincidence.

bongard22 2021-04-29 22:07

@2bitcrook Hi that's a great idea and after watching people keep missing checkpoints just barely.

@marcmagus Thanks! Uh you could send it to gamedev@vaguelydamp.com that would be much appreciated.

sirred 2021-04-29 22:52

Very enjoyable to play. I think the beginning felt a little slow but at the end it picked up at the end. Only thing I can think to improve would be adding w to accelerate or s to slow down for the tight spots. Great job.

garys 2021-04-30 00:19

I loved this... You got points straight off for the purple tentacle in the opening screen to be fair. For the first minute or two I wasn't really sure how this fit into the theme, but as the visuals became more and more trippy, I realised what I was going deeper into was some kind of drug induced psychosis! Really, really beautiful to play through. Like others, I wasn't able to collect most of the collectables, and wasn't really sure what they were for - like whether they'd have any effect on the gameplay. Seems the crouch doesn't really do anything either... but no matter - like life, it's about the journey.

michaelyount 2021-04-30 00:21

Snow trippin' is so cool, good game.

heiach 2021-04-30 02:59

I was surprised at how great it looks for a 3d skiing game! I found it quite hard but enjoyed the controls and movements!

hempuli 2021-04-30 05:08

Very cool! The idea was funny and there were some nice surprises there. One checkpoint near the end was particularly nasty on my old laptop but for the most part I could concentrate on the visuals. Good work!

ramble-house-games 2021-04-30 07:13

Amazing art style well executed. This game was a little bit heavy on polygons for my computer I think. I wasn’t getting the frame rate I needed to get the full experience, but I enjoyed the amount that I played. The controls are well thought out and really feel like skiing. The rag doll crashes are just the right amount of schadenfreude. The music is also great, amazing that this was achieved in just a few days. Thank you so much for bringing this by my stream. peachtreeoath 2021-05-01 02:47

Definitely a game that makes you want to keep going just to see how it evolves :) I really enjoyed the difficulty, it made a lot of sense too since it is skiing after all. Both these points created a pacing where you see a cool sight and what's ahead, and then the tense moment where you actually have to navigate the section. Just nonstop rising and falling tension which makes for a great experience.

I'm curious how your team is divided since it had a lot of work done on the art side and the level design side. Is the majority of your team artists?

Very memorable experience and a great way to weave "ski" and "trip" together.

pomo 2021-05-01 12:59

Its rare we I can vibe and chill so hard with a game that I can just talk about random stuff and have a good time! Thanks for submitting it! -PomoTheDog

[Apologies for the technical difficulties at the beginning of the stream!](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1006873415?t=00h00m00s)

Once again, y'all knocked it out of the park with this one. Not only are the visuals and music top-notch, but the whole game as a package is very tight and cohesive. No idea how y'all managed to crank this out in a single weekend, but I'd be worried about whoever you owe your soul to to make it happen.

matthewi 2021-05-02 06:43

This game is beautiful! I love the art and sound direction. Super unique game and I can tell a lot of work went into this trip.JPG

ruddiculous 2021-05-03 05:50

The game jam equivalent of "fresh pow pow." Blown away by this number of people making such a cohesive experience. One of the more memorable games from the jam. Solid work from the Colorado crew, keep shredding gnar!

jake-marks 2021-05-03 18:44

The Vaguely Damp studio does it again. Great art, great music, stunning effects. I am blown away by this game! Here is the VOD: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1003973161

mikoziq 2021-05-04 18:19

Ok

Pros:

- Whatever you're smoking, it's working - Amazing level design - Amazing trip graphics - Great, subtle transition into madness - Music is a nice touch - I like skiing!

Cons:

- Movement is less fluid than I anticipated - I can see parts of levels overlapping - I felt like sometimes the hitbox of the world decided to go against me

The game is just an art to enjoy. Great work!

liero116 2021-05-09 06:02

Controls felt a little stiff to me and turning was slow. I had a pretty hard time getting the game to feel right enough for me to progress to far.
