A masterpiece. Ouch oof owie my hands
woah, I'm not sure how I'm going to face the cold realities of daily life after experiencing this artistic representation of birth and the cycle of life. My outlook on the universe is forever changed because of this experience.
Once long ago my grandfather told me a story from his days in the war, about how he and his squad got captured by German forces, and about how that experience shaped him into the man he is today. I never thought I would understand what he went through, until I played this game. This game will truly change your outlook on the universe. This representation of Yoshisaur is nothing short of ground-breaking.

I feel like this game, and also some other games were made to be played on a computer that can run the game, and are meant for us to play. And also, when we play a game like this game or other games, we should look at it and hear it and contemplate the sounds and sights in order to properly experience the game. Generally speaking, when hearing and looking at a video game, while we play it, we can then also start to ruminate on what the video game is and what it means. The way it can have an impact on the humans who look and hear at the game is hard to quantify, but I think Plato said it best when he said that playing and looking at and hearing a game is a good way to then form an opinion on the game that we can store in our memory and recall at a later date. This is generally the method I have taken when approaching a new game for me to play and look at and hear, and with this game, I was able to properly proceed through that process and produce a polished partition in my mind that when I now think on I can confidently put forth the opinion that this is objectively a game which has been made to see and look at and hear and also play and generally experience with our sensual preceptors. 10/10

@andidebob Thanks for the great feedback! We'll get that AI tightened up. Sorry for the confusion on the leaderboard, it doesn't properly refresh to show your new score when you die, but your score was properly submitted! You are currently sitting at 3rd place (behind 2 devs who already have a bunch of practice :p) good work! Wave 34 is no joke.
Nice, been wanting to make a game like this myself for a while now. This is a solid entry in the genre, the movement speed compared to the enemies feels just right, and the variety of weapons is impressive for a jam game. I found it a bit difficult to understand where my weapons were going to attack, and when, but overall, great work!
Damn this was hard, and a cool idea, I like the way the music stops when you do, and I generally found the character controller to be precise enough to support the high speed and low margin of error you were going for. Also love seeing more Godot games, always give props for that cuz I'm biased and love Godot lol. Good work!
We've got a rust/bevy enthusiast on our team, so I know enough about bevy to be incredibly impressed by this lol. Great work all around! Ran great in browser. Didn't have a single bug. The 3d tetris was a really cool touch, though it would have been nice to have full orbit camera control for that.
Overall a super impressive entry, wave 5 was my favorite.
Wow, pretty impressive for one person in just 20 hours. I didn't run into any obvious bugs. At one point I did get trapped underneath a shipping container :( but that is my own fault for being a terrible pilot lol. Love seeing more godot games, great work on this one, I can't even imagine what you'd be able to pull off with, say 40 hours of work!
This was a ton of fun, I loved the different upgrade options, and the frequency with which I got to upgrade. Game ran great in the browser. Aiming was spot on and I never felt like I unfairly missed a shot, which can be really tricky to get down just right in games like this. All around great work, had a lot of fun after level 15 :D
This is a gem. The vibe establish in the intro sequence is great. The entire concept of accidentally hitting the end of space too hard, breaking it in the process, is fantastic.
The actual gameplay left me wanting slightly more control over my fart rocket, but I also feel like some level of imprecision is part of the charm, and in general it felt appropriate for the game. I also loved all the silly little sound effects.
Solid entry, this game has a distinct personality, and that can be a really tricky thing to get right in just one weekend.
Loved this. I was particularly a fan of how self explanatory it all was, I instantly understood what to do and the decisions I had to make (full throttle gang for life). Great art, loved the slimes lol but it was all solid. Didn't have a single bug in multiple runs. Be proud, this was well designed, well scoped, and well executed.
Wow, I love this. It's like an absurdist art piece, more of an experience you can relax with and enjoy rather than something you have to actively focus on interacting with. Might not be for everyone but I certainly love this style of game. Lots of good little jokes, good voice acting, and good processing/effect work on the audio as well. I wont spoil the climax here but it had me laughing for a good while. Really enjoyed this!
Also, huge props on the inclusion of subtitles. Accessibility efforts always win extra points with me.
I love space. Cool game, well presented, the UI in particular looked really great. I was a fan of the movement controls for sure. I wanted to try and get a black hole but it would've taken too long :( maybe setting those down at 100 would convince more people to get on the grind lol. I also loved all the secret little easter eggs floating around out in space.
Lots of impressive details here - great art, and it all scaled correctly to my screen, big props there. I also really appreciated the tutorial, I definitely would've been a bit confused without it! The game itself was quite challenging, but once I got the hang of it, I was making interesting decisions every second or so - a great density. It also hit the theme really well. All around a strong submission, great work!
I am winner!!! Yay. Super cool visuals, loved the variety and the world itself was impressively large. Game length felt just right, and I enjoyed figuring out which items to carry at any given moment, and where to bring certain things. Perhaps my favorite detail is the way the music nicely fades between different variations on the track as you enter a new area, that's an awesome touch. Great work!
Cool concept, once I understood what was happening it was a lot of fun jumping around and swinging frantically, searching for the next opening. Props for the extensive settings menu, though all of my audio sliders did start at 0. If you were to put a mouse sensitivity slider into this game, that would make me so happy. I am used to super low sensitivity for fps games, so while I think your default value will work for the majority of people, it left me unable to truly control things the way I wanted to. And I really want to have that precise control because the game is quite fun!
Great work adding a leaderboard as well, I've done a number of those myself but never managed to present it as beautifully as you did here with the flickering light and the clipboard and all that. Awesome game!
Cool entry! Love seeing Godot games. The different abilities all felt unique and useful, and I had to change the way I played a fair bit based on the ability I selected. Every mechanic I interacted with worked, and it was clear what I had to do at all times. I did enjoy aiming the shots just right to collide with a far away virus as it ran in. Also appreciated the extra polish in the music change and the hilarious low disk space notification. If I could add any one thing to this game, it would be an online leaderboard so that I could try and flex on everyone else :p
The car AI was solid, they drove erratically enough for me to never feel safe but didn't take it so far that it felt too random or unfair. Also loved the risk/reward tradeoff for bailing out to the oncoming lane or the grassy area, provided a constant influx of interesting decisions for me to make. Great work!
Super cute, fantastic art, creative gameplay too. I love cats. Keep making cat games.
Also I appreciated the tutorial the start, the controls made a lot of sense after that. Smart idea.
Congrats on your first jam! It gets a lot easier each time you do it. Props on managing to get anything submitted at all, but extra props for submitting a working game that even has volume sliders :D I love volume sliders.
The game was simple in a good way, didn't have to do a bunch of research to get going, just run and shoot. The only real complaint I have is just that sometimes I wouldn't shoot in the direction the character was facing. All around a really solid first entry. Keep at it!
Ambitious entry! I loved the art style, definitely hit some nostalgia for me. Unfortunately, since I wasn't able to change the mouse sensitivity, I had a difficult time aiming (I play on incomprehensibly low DPI and sens because I am a crazy person) but I generally got the feel for it and was able to power through. I like the idea of losing inventory space when you get shot, interesting take on the theme!
Love the look of this one, its tough to make black and white look THIS good but you pulled it off. I found the movement to be too slow, but to your credit I never got stuck on anything and was able to traverse the entire level. I also massively appreciate the inclusion of volume sliders, that type of polish really makes a jam game stick out to me.
Good work overall, excited to see what you make next!
Cool game, I love the fuel management aspect of it and the way the ship flies. I think you could benefit from slightly increasing the density of asteroids with crystals, but it was still perfectly possible to play and progress. Good work!
Oh and nice stars in the background, I like how you handled that!
Absolutely love the "don't start" button, that's hilarious.
The mashup of dating sim and racing game is also wild, the time pressure makes me say stupid things. That bee is really mean :( Funny dialogue options, just funny all around. Worked great in my browser as well. I think professional motorsports need to take notice of the innovations presented here to properly modernize themselves.
I am satisfied with my date.
Cool game, very impressive art! Loved the voiceover work as well. I generally found the character to control nicely, and I liked the way you slowly introduced abilities. This is very well put together, I can tell you guys know what you're doing, so I'm going to be slightly harsher than I am to other games because I believe this entry to be just a few bits of polish away from extraordinary.
It's fantastic to add controller support, that always deserves huge kudos for a jam. That said, I wasn't able to use the controller to actually start the game - pressing "A" on the main menu just brought me to a gray screen with nothing happening. Having your menus work with the controller is critical. It can be a bit tricky in Godot - you have to make sure that your buttons have a clear "focused" state in the theme, and then call `button.grab_focus()` whenever a menu is presented to give the controller the ability to navigate menus. I also like to bind "A" (on xbox controller at least) to the "ui_accept" default action in the input map, which lets you trigger buttons with the controller the same way you would a mouse.
The second thing I'll mention is the lack of proper fullscreen and mouse cursor capture. The game is super pretty, I would've loved to be able to see it in proper fullscreen! This comes down to project settings in Godot. I typically export my jam games in a borderless windowed state, and include some code for the somewhat universal "alt + enter" key combination to toggle between that and windowed mode. This is very easy to accomplish with the Godot DisplayServer. It also would be great to hide the mouse cursor when in game for maximum immersion!
The last thing I'll note is the audio - the sounds you have are great and contribute a lot to the overall atmosphere, the only issue I have is just that there aren't enough of them. Random things seem to be missing sound, like the player attack and footsteps. If you really want to bring this thing to the next level, getting full sound effect coverage is crucial.
Anyways, I hope I wasn't too harsh or explaining things you already know - I just felt a huge amount of potential in this one and wanted to share my thoughts! It's evident that you are an experienced team, and I'm excited to see what you guys make next. Congrats on the solid entry, and let me know if you have any questions about the Godot things I mentioned above, I'd be happy to further explain some things if you like!
I respect the ambition, enemy AI like this is is quite challenging to create and props to you for going for it over a jam weekend. I'd say you mostly pulled it off as well! The enemies functioned well and the game was perfectly playable. I did find it a bit hard to tell exactly when the enemies were attacking, but managed to land a few parries regardless.
I loved the prologue as well, great little touch. Lots of animation work on this one too, I loved the big dudes with the swords, they were properly intimidating.
Overall an impressive entry, especially for a single person!
Oh, nice water shader btw lol
Super cool idea, can't even imagine how you put this together. I haven't found the gem yet but I am determined. Super unique idea, great take on the theme. I could see myself just keeping this up on my computer constantly and fiddling with it when I get bored.
Super well made game, physics and checkpoint system worked great. I appreciated that I was able to change the volume, but would've absolutely loved being able to change the mouse sensitivity and FOV as well! Gameplay wise it was a blast, I loved having to aim carefully and swing with intention.
I do think that giving the player a little bit of control over their mid-air momentum with WASD would've made the game more approachable. I get that part of the idea is to make you swing accurately to be able to reach the next grapple point, but adding just a tiny bit of extra mid-air control would cut down a ton on frustrating moments.
All in all a really well made game, congrats!
blablabla good game! I loved the style and the silliness and the blood explosions and all that. Didn't experience any bugs as far a I could tell. Game looked, sounded, and played great. Awesome work, and it's super cool you made a sequel, sequels are based. I'm not just saying that because I also made a sequel, it is just a fact that sequels are based.... yes...
Great work on this one, the art is truly fantastic. I also appreciate the functioning upgrade system, those can be tricky! I eventually died because I didn't have enough food to feed mr bomb :( so sad, I never meant to starve him to death.... how will I live with myself now?
Great game, love me a score chaser. Leaderboards are always fun in the jam format, good work getting one implemented! Good take on the theme as well, I feel educated in ocean history after having played it. Most of all though what impressed me was the level design - there was clearly a huge amount of work put into that, which requires really smart planning and efficient work from the very first second of the jam. Kudos, this ones a winner!
Really impressive game, absolutely beautiful to look at and listen to. Walking through that first door was an incredible reveal moment, and the concrete structure looks fantastic. It reminded me a lot of the game Control. The atmosphere was tense and mysterious, something I find more interesting than just being straight up "scary", so props there. The only request I have is to not have the music restart between rooms - the music is fantastic, the way it builds and builds as you progress is super smart, and the way it made my subwoofer go crazy in the final room was good fun. It just kinda pulls you out of things when you go through a door and the music totally restarts. Great entry though, good work!
Cool game, impressive VFX work for sure! A good amount of content and polish for a jam, very competently put together. I'm not too sure that it really follows the theme very much, but I could be missing something - going deeper and deeper behind enemy lines perhaps?
On the topic of controls, I think the general flight model for this is awesome. I also think the way you have it set up is really smart, where your directional inputs will always take you in the direction you are pressing, regardless of the orientation of your ship. That is definitely going to make this more accessible to a lot of people.
That said, I play a loooot of space games, and my brain defaults to inputting relative to my ships orientation. So while playing this game I'd see my ship is pointed to the left, press W to accelerate in that direction, but end up going up instead. Like I said, I do get why it works this way, and I think you have the correct default controls, but I would love an option to swap between that and a mode that does not take ship orientation into account! I crave ultimate control :P Hopefully that made sense.
Either way, cool game, great work, congrats on a successful jam!
Fun game, very satisfying to clean all the food up. The way the mold grows creates for interesting gameplay as you can't simply mindlessly spray all over the place, you have to be deliberate with where you clean in order to stop the growth. That's an awesome bit of design. Fantastic work, great entry!
lmao great game, creative take on the theme. Mechanics worked well, nothing janky or unexpected happened, and the game was a proper challenge. Solid art, solid music, solid gameplay... what more can you ask for? Good work!
Reading your story, I'm impressed you managed to put something together! Props to you, that is no small accomplishment. The title of the game is hilarious and got me to click on it lol so good work there as well. I also really liked the little skull guy animation when you die.
This is obviously a very basic version of your idea, but I can see the vision you had and I think this could be a really cool game loop. With an area to explore, more upgrades to buy, and an ending of sorts, this would work really well as a game. Really strong vision, and I hope you're able to keep improving your skills so that one day you can build something to match that vision! Good work overall, I'd be proud of this one.
Cool game, great atmosphere and mood, and I loved the overall gameplay loop - the inclusion of a leaderboard was genius! Not surprised I see Pomo all over it lol. I think the character controller was a little bit floaty and hard to be precise with, but I got the hang of it and was launching myself all over the place in no time.
Awesome level design and great art, loved the batter meter being right on my character, that's a nice immersive touch. Overall an impressive entry, keep up the good work!
Really great game, lots of fun to play, controlled super well which is highly important for this genre. Every death was my own fault. I loved the cute little rabbit dude and would give my life to protect them from emails. Especially work emails..... disgusting. That motivated me to beat it lol great work, impressively polished entry, plays incredibly well!
Really cool game, the presentation is absolutely on point. It's wild what you were able to achieve visually, I absolutely loved it. Good work!
Nice entry, I enjoyed the loop and the graphics were top notch. Fun water shader. Once I got used to how fast I move, I was able to progress fairly well, but it was a bit jarring at first. If you're looking for an improvement to make, I'd say slow down the rate of falling so you can slow down the movement speed as well. Then you could add upgraded movement speed to the upgrades shop! And perhaps you fall faster and faster as you collect items?
Idk, that's one of many possible solutions but the general idea is just to introduce some progression into how quickly your sub can move. Regardless, I ended up really enjoying the speedy movements, so I think it's in a great place either way :D
Well made game, worked without issue! I liked the back and forth of getting stronger, growing more confident, then messing up and having to play safe for a while until I get get upgrades again. If I had a point of feedback, it would be that the sound of the bullets gets to be kinda weird when you are shooting 3+ at a time - because they are all the same pitch and start at the same time, the waveforms overlay on top of each other causing some weird phasing issues.
To address that, you could randomize the pitch of the bullet sound each time it plays, something like +/- 10%. If you wanted to take that a step further, you could have 3-4 different bullet sounds and pick one at random each time a bullet is spawned. Combining the random sounds with the randomized pitch would have a massive impact.
Either way, great work on this one!
Fun game, very satisfying to slurp up coins. So satisfying that I kept drowning due to my unchecked greed for coins.... oops. Upgrades felt impactful and the prices scaled well. Numbers in a game like this are always tricky so good work there.
Great entry all around, congrats on a successful weekend!
@oxnh Awesome, glad the linux build worked, thanks for letting us know! And thanks a bunch for the compliments on the music, I did make both of the songs over the weekend! Me and my trusty piano. I am absolutely flattered by your comparisons, Nujabes is one of my all time favorites and has been a huge inspiration for me, so it's rather surreal to see you say that.
Thanks again, glad you enjoyed!
@katasudios lol I completely agree, we are genuinely considering adding proper skateboarding into the game because it's so sad not being able to use the ramp and grind on the rails correctly.
@rubixnoob13 omg, thank you so much for figuring that out. I can't believe it was something so simple lol. Glad you were still able to play, and greatly appreciate the QA work :P
Great interpretation of the theme, it's awesome being able to see the lower levels spinning around beneath you as you go. Looks like you've been busy with bug fixes, and props to you, I couldn't name a single bug I experienced while playing! Solid art, sound effects for the things that need sound effects, a great entry overall.
My one complaint is the controls - this is definitely an interesting approach, and I was indeed able to play the game this way, but ultimately I think I prefer a more traditional wASD style of movement. That's pretty subjective, but I'm sure there are many who would agree with me.
Either way, good work and congrats on another completed jam!
MORE STRONGER????
God I hate how well game dev humor works on me. Literally the exact moment I'm thinking "this could use some more sound effects", I jump and get the "I don't have any sound effects" jump text thingy lmao. Great work with this one, solid amount of content, functional all the way through, and a proper ending. Very funny as well... very deep one could say. Very creative take on the theme, big points there.
All in all I'm just impressed, sure some sound effects would elevate it, but this is still a fantastic entry that I had a great time playing. Congrats!
Wow, fantastic art on this one. In a kind of horrifying, "please don't make me look at that" way lmao, great work. I fear this game may be my future.... I do agree with the couch being the good ending as well. Very realistic.
Dragging the dude around was good fun, I like how he just kinda accepted it. I hope he is able to keep hanging in there :( bro also wtf is up with his toilet???? My god, is he a gamer or something? That is the bathroom of a gamer. Don't ask me how I know.
Super creative entry, good work on this one! All my little criticisms have already been mentioned above so I'll just leave my praise here :D congrats on a successful jam!
Great game, very creative and unique. Lots of work put into every detail. The puzzle mechanic was cool, and you did an incredible job at tutorializing it, which is incredibly difficult! Huge props for that. Not much to critique, just a cool game with great visuals and a lot of interesting things to experience. Awesome work!
I love typing games and I can tell that this one has an incredibly creative approach to the genre. Sadly, I wasn't really able to figure out how to play.. I tried for a while, just wasn't sure what was going on. Tutorials can be really tricky in game jams, but I think when you have an idea as unique as this one, they are essentially required if you want everybody to be able to play it.
The art scope on this one is truly impressive. Great work on that front, cannot compliment you enough. I laughed out loud when I realized I was finally playing one of those mobile game ads, and it was good fun! I tried getting to 999 power, but couldn't quite manage it - I imagine at that point you can take on the big baddie chasing you?
My primary complaint has to do with the camera - sometimes my dudes were so far away, and there was some geo right in front of the camera, and it made it really hard to see what was happening. Tripped a number of trap doors in this manner that cost me some runs ;(
A secondary complaint is that my dudes really suck at jumping :( maybe I was missing something, or maybe this is intended as a kind of reset mechanic, but they kept jumping to their deaths whenever the bridge section came up.
Those things aside, I'm beyond impressed with this one, fantastic work! Definitely going to be checking out your games every jam from now on!
Cool game, great music in particular. I'm a music guy so I got pretty distracted by just focusing on that lol but the other sound effects in the game were nicely balanced with that music for a cohesive overall presentation. Can't tell you how many times a game has great audio assets that just don't work in game because they aren't mixed correctly, but gladly that was not the case here! Good work!
Great art, great dialogue system, impressive scale for a jam. Quite funny as well. This game hits in all areas, good work, congrats on a successful jam!
Cool game, very unique puzzle mechanics and a cute lil worm dude. My only desire is to have a different button bound to the dash so that I can move and dash more easily. Awesome entry!
Lol very funny game, love the physics and the general ambition on display. The floppy waffles were beautiful. Unfortunately I kinda sucked ass at the game, all of my waffle creations were horrible abominations, but I feel like that's kinda the point lmao good work, super unique entry
Super cool game, lots of interesting visual polish. Good shader work, I loved the clouds. The day night cycle was also a wild touch. Then things started getting a bit trippy and spooky lol highly enjoyable! And big props for your menu system, its rare to find a useable menu in jam games, let alone an actually attractive one. Love that.
Great work overall, I could see this game working in a larger scale with more development time.
Wildly cool, fantastic use of music. Properly spooky, with trippy visuals that manage to still be understandable so you can progress. Awesome work, keep it up!
Very interesting idea, pretty ambitious for a jam from a coding perspective. I thought your art did well to support it too! I wasn't sure if there was a way to win? I explored a whole lot, made it all the way down, and eventually ran out of light. Cool game though, great concept and it worked without any bugs as far as I could tell. Great entry!
Really cool game, love the look of the red light slowing catching you. I also really like the general design, where you aren't punished too harshly for mistakes, and are instead encouraged to keep going and refocus on getting your speed up. Controls nicely, and offers an inversion option which is great to see. Beyond that, lots of levels that are actually meaningfully different? Nice. This is a great entry, congrats!
Cool game, really impressive style! I liked how much control I had over my character - just enough to have influence, but not enough to prevent hilarious things from happening. The one issue I had was the camera clipping through the ground, causing me to lose sight of my character, but other than that it was a smooth experience!
One thing I'm not quite clear on - did you guys make the music for this? I see you credit a song you're using in the description, but I also see you're opted into the audio category so I'm just not sure what's up there.
Either way, great entry, solid work!
BTW: if you want to get more exposure, you have to get your karma level up! DUCKDEPF has a crazy ~170 karma score which will directly translate to more exposure.
Incredibly creative idea, absolutely love how you create this one giant scroll by the end. Super unique stuff, and the art, music, and writing all support that system perfectly. This is one of the rare jam games that truly pushes the bar of innovation, great work and I look forwards to seeing what you make next!
Lol I love this. Silly but great. Very deep bro. Good work.
Cool game, really great art! It plays nicely as well. I was a big fan of the on screen text as you enter new areas, felt really punchy and professional. I think some of the sound effects were a bit too loud, a quick balance pass there could be beneficial. Overall an impressive entry, good work!
Cool game, innovative mechanic, and the timer is absolutely getting people to be competitive. Well done, great wrok!
Cool game, I liked the tension of the one-hit kills. I really had to focus and be careful with my movements to not die, and it was satisfying to do so! I think lowering the player movement speed a bit and increasing the light around the player a little bit would help the experience be more accessible, but I did enjoy having to use my ears and wits to shoot enemies in the darkness from time to time.
One big tip I could give is to look into camera damping - right now, the camera is glued really rightly to the character, so as you move left and right the camera jerks around with you. This can be a hit hard on the eyes, and makes it tricky to see sometimes. Camera damping would allow the player to move their character around wildly without the camera also freaking out at the same time.
Very creative game, I liked how many different tools I had. Game looked great as well, good effects, good lighting, and a working pause menu! I was a bit confused for a while but eventually was able to figure things out. It could be good to introduce tools one at a time to not overwhelm the player right up front, but either way, great work on this one!
Cool game, ran great, I appreciate the options in the menu! I would love if you included a volume slider as well, but good on you for including ANY options, that's rare for a jam game. Either way, I had fun playing it, and that's the most important bit! Great work!
DEPTH GANGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG lol this game is awesome. The giant rat properly jumpscared me.... the way he emerged from the shadows was horrifying. Something about this game just feels right, the whimsy is spot on and the ending is hilarious. I am a depth ganger for life now.... depth gang and yellow spray paint.
Great work, and thanks for your wonderful stream yesterday!
Awesome cutscenes, definitely the highlight for me. Both the individual frames of art as well as the way they were animated in engine was top notch. I do think the disconnect in style between the cutscenes and the gameplay was a bit jarring, a bit more polish on the in-game look would go a long way. I did like the presentation of a 2D game while using 3D assets, that's a neat touch. Blob fish is very cute :) I'm more of an audio guy, so I've got some detailed thoughts on that up next.
I liked the music a lot, although there were some times when it would cut in and out suddenly which felt a bit strange. That said, the writing, instrument choice, and performance all gave me cool underwater vibes, and it sounded great on both speakers and headphones. I think you would benefit from a mixing pass on the sound effects relative to the music - it's clear from the music that you know what sounds good, and if you want to bring the sound effects to the next level, you almost have to start treating them like tracks in your songs. Definitely good stuff overall though, and the sound effects in the cutscenes really helped sell the story.
Gameplay wise, I'll first give you props that it mostly worked smoothly with very few noticeable bugs. That's always worth a shout out in jams. Well done! That said, I do think there are some potential areas for improvements. For starters, I think the sharks look great, but could be made more interesting - I wasn't sure how they were intended to behave, but I kinda just swam past most of them without issue. When one did start chasing me, it was always super easy to escape them because of how slow they are. If I had to hide from a shark patrolling the opening to the next area, or lure a shark out of a tiny hole I need to get through, that kind of interaction could make the sharks much more interesting. I think you were going for some of that, but in the current state they just aren't threatening enough to quite fill that role.
Beyond the sharks, I felt like the game could've done with more work being put into progressing through areas. Right now it's basically a maze solving game, which works well and is a fun type of game, but I think with this structure you could push it further by requiring players to explore around to find items needed to progress further in the game. This would help players have a better understanding of their goal and a better feeling of making progress as they find items.
Another way to spice up the gameplay could be to hide secret collectables or power ups. Hiding some things around the map that reward players for their exploration is fairly easy from a development side, and has big rewards. Something like a 20% speed upgrade, or a shield that will absorb some damage, something like that. Adding these kinds of things would make players take their time and explore around instead of just trying to run straight to the exit.
The game ran great on my pc, and I appreciated the inclusion of a volume slider. That stuff is always great to see in jam games. Overall a solid entry from an impressively sized team! Good work, hope to see you guys making more stuff in the next jam!
Great game, good music, good gameplay, tuned nicely. Impressive work for sure, my only request now is for a leaderboard - that would really take this to the next level! Great job to the 3 of you.
This game was spooky as hell lol great shader work, I especially liked the caustics on the sea floor! It was a bit hard to see and navigate, I think you could stand to brighten things up just a touch, but obviously not too much so you can preserve the spooky vibes.
Impressive amount of progression and content in this one. I was a bit confused at first as to where to buy upgrades but once I figured it out things went smoothly! Love the controls, and the preview path for your launches was nice and accurate. Good work on this one, its the type of game that would benefit massively from a leaderboard :D
Lmfao this game is insane. Loved the absurd progression of things. Poor guy had to watch all the human centipiede movies, that's fuckin brutal man.... lol good work, I had a lot of fun with this. The suspects face is hilarious.
This is super cool, super innovative concept and great presentation! I would have loved for a fullscreen option so I could really enjoy the visuals. Awesome blur effect, those can be tricky to get as clean as you have it here.
Cool game, fun idea, worked really well! Appreciate the inclusion of a leaderboard, that's always worth the effort for a jam game, they're great fun. Good work, solid entry!
This is an impressive game for sure. Lots of art, good loop, an upgrade system, and ending.. it's got it all! If I had one complaint, it would be that the movement speed is too slow - I felt like a fat slug who was glued to the ground lol. I think increasing both the player and the enemy speed would instantly make this game more fun. Perhaps adding another bucket/pulley on the other side of the hole as well (maybe on you have to pay to unlock?) could introduce some more movement and decision making into the loop as well.
Either way, great work on this one, congrats on a successful jam!
Wow, absolutely beautiful. The art is incredible, the use of color in particular is top notch. The music is also fantastic, perfect vibes for every moment. I also highly appreciated that I could restart a room if I died in it :P why didn't that one guy want to hug me though :( I wanted a hug :(
Lol I don't have any notes, this was just solid from start to finish, great work, I'd be super proud of this one!
Had fun spamming dash all over the place lol :duck:
This is a really neat game. I won't go on about the UX/UI experience regarding swapping to a new dude as I see other commenters have touched on that. What I will say is that once I figured it out, I was instantly impressed and had a ton of fun! Game looks really cool too, something about it works. Just the right amount of detail.
Honestly my only complaint with this is that it ended quickly :( which makes sense, it's incredibly difficult to design puzzles, so kudos to you for the ambition on display. Cool game, great work!
This game is awesome, fantastic visuals and audio, and a fun gameplay loop of having to balance steering with managing the whole water situation. Fairly challenging, but that's obviously not a bad thing! Great work, would love to see more work from you in this style, it's really quite good.
Wow, what a serious game. It was so serious, and also it did not have any bugs or crashes. (But FR I didn't have any bugs or crashes lol) My cats name is momo so I just kinda instantly clicked on this, I was pleasantly surprised with a great game!
This is an impressive amount of work for a solo entry, I was surprised at how varied my runs were. I also enjoyed the sound effects for the mining, very satisfying when I was really cranking out blocks. Awesome work, congrats on making a super serious game!
Cool art, and a good game idea. Hand drawn animations are wildly impressive. I struggled a bit with getting the character to fall off edges, but other than that I'm impressed, good work!
Nice work for such a short amount of time, the sonar effect is really cool. I couldn't get past 120 meters but it was fun trying to find the next way down! Cool level design, and it looked good in game too, nice and spooky. All around a really impressive entry for how little time you had to work on it, great job!
Awesome game, has a cat so that's an instant win. Really neat characters, and a super solid gameplay loop! I could see this game really blossoming with continued work and expansion. Great work, especially seeing that this is the first jam for some of you! Congrats, I'm excited to see what you make next :D
Woah a python game, very cool. Worked flawlessly and was fun to play. I would've loved some visual feedback on when my bullets hit enemies, and some acceleration/deceleration time to the movement, but overall a solid entry, good work!
Cool idea, it was indeed fun to bounce the scythe around. Very funny concept as well, loved filling the earth with oil :P I did run into an issue where if the scythe bounces back and forth between rocks for a few seconds, it glitches entirely out of existence lol it was pretty funny but figured I'd mention it. All around a solid entry with great art!
Awesome game, had a lot of fun watchin my dudes run back and forth. I did get the feeling that the lift upgrade was way more impactful than the speed upgrade but I don't actually know and I got a bunch of both anyways for maximum number go up lol great work, solid entry!
lmao. Did some dude just shout "carl sagan" at me?? This game is gold, absolutely loved every moment. Perfect difficulty, great humor, voice acting... a powerful combination. Great work on this one, the extra bit of context and character the bars scenes add around the "endless runner" style gameplay really makes this one feel unique and worth experiencing. Gonna get super stoned and try it again to really see how deep I can go....
Multiple endings for a jam game is craaazy ambitious, great work pulling it off! cool vibes, wild visuals, and short but satisfying puzzles. Something about this game just works for me and I can't even really nail down what it is, it just feels cool lol great work!
Cool game, really interesting tech involved for the line drawing and digging stuff. Super neat. I had a good timing getting all the way to the bottom. The vibes were captivating, and the little blurbs about each item were really well written.
Really the only critique I could give is that there wasn't much in the way of challenge, it was just kinda going through the motions until I reached the bottom. With the mechanics you have in place here, you could definitely implement some interesting puzzles/branching paths, or something like that. Either way, cool entry, good work!
Very creative opening, love that you have to turn the flashlight on manually to start the game. The concept of having to go down all the stairs is a strong one, and it plays on the theme well. I also give you big props for including a narrative element in your game, that is fairly rare for jam games and the effort is definitely appreciated!
That said, the first jump scare noise that plays as you reach the second note was SO loud. I had the game largely turned down in the main menu but that sound still made my speakers shake my room... If I hadn't turned the game down in the main menu, it could've easily damage my speakers. I had to turn the game off there for the sake of my own hearing. It did scare the shit out of me though so props on that :P
As an aside, I would've loved a wider FOV. As is, the camera is extremely zoomed in.
Hey! Congrats on your first jam, you got a game out, and it works too! No easy feat. I liked the game and enjoyed the structure. The art was very appealing and the vibes were awesome. Good choice in music too - even if you didn't make it, you still had to pick something fitting, and you did!
For my tastes, the character controller felt a bit floaty. It was a bit difficult to precisely control where I was going. I felt kinda like a clunky robot... perhaps it was intentional :P
Beyond that, I think the timers on the ships were a bit too aggressive. If the camera was zoomed out and I could see what each ship wanted at all times, the timers would probably work well, but as is I have to be just about perfect to go see what a ship needs and return with it.
One last note since this is your first jam - if you're wondering why you only have 2 comments and 3 ratings received, it's because you yourself have only rated 2 games! The way the algorithm works is that it will push the games of people who leave feedback/ratings out to others for review. I apologize if you already know this, but I just wanted to make sure you weren't wondering where all the reviews are!
Anyways, good work, this is a great entry, especially for your first time. I'd be super proud of this.
Lol that one spike is a huge troll. Idk why I kept forgetting about it. Well designed level, smart approach, and it looked great! I'm not entirely sure how to use the web, but the visuals of it were neat, I'm curious how you accomplished that!
Good entry overall, keep it up!
@livelypersimmon Oh cool, thanks for the info! That's a smart way of going about it. I also wanted to come back and comment again because I forgot to mention how cute the little spider isssss they're adorable and yes I think you're right about the colors, they were picked well!
Cute ass fish lol. Why are the other fish so mean :( Good entry though, I found it decently challenging, couldn't just run through the levels but had to be patient and manipulate the enemies to get around them. Great work, beautiful presentation, and a stable experience free of bugs. Keep it up!
Cool game, a bit tricky to figure out what to do but in a good way. It's not tricky because you don't communicate it anywhere, it's tricky because I had to pay attention to my ship and figure how it works, which was good fun! Looked great, impressively consistent art style, and it ran great too. Good work on this, fantastic entry!
Cool game, I really like the red squid dudes attacking you. Wasn't at all prepared for a boss fight but that's an awesome and ambitious way to end it. I also really liked the art, all of the creatures were cool and that boss was SUPER cool. Great work on this one!
If I had one request, it would be to let me aim with the mouse - from what I gathered, you shoot in the direction you are moving, but there are times when I would've liked to be shooting one direction and moving the other. Ultimately though that's fairly minor, and I was able to play the game just fine as it is!
Highly impressive for a solo jam, especially given it's in a custom engine. I imagine you're learning all sorts of fun ways that different computers might not like your engine :P Any game with a cat gets bonus points from me. The controls were a little janky, but that also added some enjoyable humor so not the end of the world.
Cool game, loved absolutely loved the art. The mechanics worked well too, it was satisfying to yoink stuff out of the way. I'm jealous of your UI, it fits so well with the rest of the game, which is presented beautifully. I grew attached to the little frog homies. Very impressive stuff, I hope to see you guys making more stuff at the next jam!
Cool game, impressive operating system recreation and puzzling! I regularly went through the cycle of "where the hell do I find this information" to "oh wait could this be related?" all the way to "AHHH that's definitely it". Great work!
Solid entry, plays great! This game caused me great pain but then great joy when I finally got it lol great work, solid entry!
This is awesome, hilarious concept and great execution. Everything worked smoothly. Great song choice too, one of my favorites :) good work, smart game and suits the jam format perfectly!
