Looks like you have not opted in to a few voting categories you may be eligible for. Huge file size may be a hinderance to people trying out your game.
I like the low-res and dithering look to the game, really gets you in the mindset of a goblin. Working settings screen is always nice in a jam game. The camera controls feel really weird, almost like it is not rotating around the player point offset from the player.
Once you jump down its quite a trip, goofy audio alongside this ragdoll goblin got me laughing, great entry, made it to ~400 depth
It is pretty funny to ragdoll around, trying to hit the obstacles for that extra burst of speed. It reminds me of those 2D cannon games where you try to go as far as you can, now with more depth. With the same level layout it was possible to learn the best path to reach the bottom, of about 830 with all of the gold. The actual lowest I got was clipping out of the tunnel and free falling for a while. For that instance I am thankful the game let me restart from the menu quickly.
It is a pretty good joke that you can move around as a goblin initially on the ground, just to flail about for the actual game. I believe moving the camera around let me ragdoll in specific directions better, as that was how I got to the end. The visual component aids the feels of the game as well. Good job!
What a fun little game! The aesthetic is really good and kept me wanting to play more and more!
Amazing game, had a blast (no pun intended) loved it (wish i could vote!) best of luck on the results and i hope to see a finished product!
Such a smart twist on a classic concept! The controls feel tight, and the difficulty curve is spot-on. Even in this short time, it’s polished and addictive. Fantastic work!
The Graphics and soundtrack are really great. Good job!
Haha, it was really fun to play! Poor goblin, even though I felt sorry for him, I had to keep trying
Really fun game that actually made me play more and more. I appreciate the adaptive music and that the sound font matches the graphics :)
Wasn't sure at first if my WASD movements really did anything once dropped, but I guess they do a little. Glitched through the floor occasionally, but that's okay. Great game overall!
Hilarious game, funniest one I've played so far in LD57. You have a high rating from me!
once told me a great philosopher of our time "Great minds think alike" so i came here and found gold! Love the game and idea, the level looks organic too, ragdoll is fun, great design!
The pixelated view and music really make it feel very un-serious, and really sets the mood for a game where you jump down a hole and try to ragdoll to the end. The controls are underpowered, just a hair more influence would have done well
Cool visuals and an interesting take on the theme. I ran into a small bug — ended up speedrunning the game because of it.

@wheelsx Yeah the controls are something that we tweaked a lot trying to find the sweet spot where the game is still difficult, but fun. Glad you enjoyed though!
@flinge Yeah, thanks for pointing this out. We faced a ton of issues with physics. Turns out when you accelerate a physics body really fast and then throw it at a wall things tend to break lol. Unfortunately this wasn't something we were able to fully resolve by the deadline.
goofy little goblin we have here. falling and ragdolling are always just so fun to watch and play!
Falling is genuinely fun, and it’s great to see this made in UE. The music is quirky, and the visuals with that shader are pretty nice. But there’s an issue with collisions — I often fell out of the map. Honestly, I wanted to fall into the gold veins, but couldn’t manage it. I ended up finishing the game using a collision bug.
@aveezavr Thanks for the comment! Yeah I really wish we could have fixed all the collision bugs. The calculations are tied to framerate so at lower frames the game has a harder time detecting collisions.
Fun game! But I kept falling through the floor every time I played.
I really like sound and visual design, physics of goblin and this problem looks like part of silly gameplay) 22wV1nQ1sKg.jpg
P.S.Do you turn on CCD in goblin skeletal mesh? If not try it, it may solve falling through wall problem
P.P.S. Please, on itch.io add a link to your jam page in edit game settings
@neeck-kola Thanks for your feedback, yeah I did turn CCD on for the goblin mesh. I increased the size of the physics object capsules and a few other things which helped a lot, but I haven't been able to kick the problem entirely. It seems when you launch a ragdoll mach 1 into a wall it still has trouble calculating collision . The issue is a lot more common at lower frames due to less calculations as well.
If you have any other ideas please let me know!
The music perfectly matches the vibe . Was fun to experiment with different starting strategies - I got to about 445 or so but smashed into a level geometry border that was slightly offset from the ground. One way to extend the gameplay (clearly outside the scope of a jam game) would be if there were item pickups you could grab and use that would offer a boost or a one-time grapple hook or something to help recover from lost momentum. They wouldn't have to offer TOO much control because the whole point of being a hapless goblin miner ragdolling down a tunnel is already well executed.
Nicely done!
This is pretty fire.
LOL alright that was fun and funny.
Brother, I'm so sorry I noticed your game so LATE This is awesome! I mean, we had a similar idea, but you're is so much funnier. I wanted to try and do some ragdolling too, but I never tried it and didn't have time. The design (sound-design included) and music is really cool and its so much fun, that I repeated it over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over nand vero dna ervoo dan ova
So overall, supa cool
@jona-scheidig DUCKDEPF in the chat?? Your game is popping off dude! So glad you liked our game! I'm lowkey jealous of how much more attention your game is getting
@braeden Man, you should get the praise really! Not only do you have a really appealing artstyle in combination with a good shader, but you also have lotsa fun evenvironmental additions to the gameplay. I totally feel that btw. that you're jealous  , cuz I'd be too, haha. Again your game is great! And only because I got "more" reviews doesn't mean mine is better by any means. You'll see, you'll prolly beat me in my categories ^^
Keep it up brother!
The idea fits perfectly with the jam and the mechanics are very fan-driven. I want more control over the character, but overall, it's a great job!!!
Cool game, really impressive style! I liked how much control I had over my character - just enough to have influence, but not enough to prevent hilarious things from happening. The one issue I had was the camera clipping through the ground, causing me to lose sight of my character, but other than that it was a smooth experience!
One thing I'm not quite clear on - did you guys make the music for this? I see you credit a song you're using in the description, but I also see you're opted into the audio category so I'm just not sure what's up there.
Either way, great entry, solid work!
BTW: if you want to get more exposure, you have to get your karma level up! DUCKDEPF has a crazy ~170 karma score which will directly translate to more exposure.
@erafion Thanks for the feedback! We were going for a more chaotic approach to the controls creating more funny moments where the goblin smacks into walls and ragdolls around. Will take this into account though, we thought about adding upgrades which would let the player level up control and bounciness etc...
@floppynub Hey thanks for the feedback! Yeah the camera clipping is really annoying. We have the camera on a springarm before but it also didn't play well as it hitting walls often pushed the camera into the character mesh. Same issue, different outcome. I hope to find a different solution the issue.
As for the karma, guess I have to spend more time reviewing games, I thought I was doing okay but 170 is crazy! Guess I'm slacking
fun game!
Wow this looks gorgeous. Very good job on the whole visual style and the goofy music and sfx to go along with the gameplay. Maybe the UI feels slightly out of place though, it's too sharp compared to the rest of the game.
The game play was really fun, for a while I just tried to go deeper and get higher scores. There are some obstacles which are really annoying which I always got stuck on, like that stupid rock at half way. Bit of a skill issue, but having such a hard obstacle half way (which is already pretty hard to get to) really breaks the flow of the game for me. This is also a bit of a skill issue for me though. I also fell through the floor once I finally got to the end, so I didn't get a high score :(
@oxnh Thanks for the feedback, I know exactly what rock you're talking about . That one always gets me too. Did you play on the patch version or the jam version btw? wondering if we still have more work to do on the clipping issues.
@braeden I'm pretty sure it was the patch version.
gggg.png cool graphics
Played the patched version. Great PS1 vibe and finely selected music!
At first I thought I was in for some 3rd person platforming, but was pleasantly surprised to be mistaken once I took the plunge.
I hope the goblin is alright though. Just because every damn brave hero in the valley tries to whack you for some experience points and silly quest milestone doesn't means you have to take your own life! Get better Mr. Goblin!
~Xp
@empyreans haha glad you enjoyed! Did you get your goblin to the gold at the end of the mine? I'm sure that would make him much happier!
@braeden Not yet. Dwarves are going around collecting taxes, we'll stay low for a while and then try again :smirk:
Didn't manage to get farther than this, but I really enjoyed the game! the vibes were great, and it was a great time!

@ty-victorson Glad you enjoyed! Yeah the back half is tough. Need to hit a really good launch or you quickly lose momentum.
Screenshot_1.png
I think I won :p I went so fast that I went through a wall I think, or maybe there was a hole somewhere, I'm not entirely sure
fun game anyway, love the graphics
Cute game! I like this gameplay!
@pandalk We had a lot of issues with the character clipping out of the map, we pushed a patch that greatly reduces how much this happens. Glad you liked the game regardless :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:
Got the high score, very happyUnrealGame-Win64-Shipping_QrDqogHea8.png
@jorgen A patch is available on the itch page that fixes this issue
This was a really fun play. think it took me 30 or so attempts finally make it down to the mines! awesome job
Fun game but my god what is wrong with unreal engine, 98% load on my 3080ti and 60% of my CPU. Cool concept with clean execution, I got stuck repeadetly at some point and wasn't feeling comfortable with my GPU heating up my room so I had to call it.
Can't really think of any improvements besides performance, really clean job guys :)
@kujoen Thanks for the feedback. Yeah I get about the same load on my 3090 and about 30% on my CPU. While performance wasn't our main concern during the 72 hours of the jam, the game should be relatively light weight. I'm not sure if the issues are mainly caused by the engine, but regardless I am doing a ton of optimization for the game to try and bring those numbers down.
Glad you enjoyed what you did play of the game though.
Also I love the profile picture.
This game is hilarious. I loved pretty much everything about it. It felt goofy and hard to control, and that added so much to the experience. My computer got a little loud while playing but it was worth it for Mine Goblin. Great Job!
hell yeah this is so gooooooood \o/ extra points for a fellow goblin type game >:) its so fun its the perfect jam game 5/5 ^^

I absolutely love this submission! The music is the first thing I noticed, of course. I opened the game and thought, "wow, this is genuine goblin music" Everything about this project is *chef's kiss*. My one critique is that I wish the camera had collision so I couldn't see the map through the wall. But otherwise, lots of fun! Got my friends to hop in to it and play!
I got obsessed , I love the little goblins pleads for agony
Great submission, fellow Unreal dev! I'm amazed with how much art your team pushed through in just 3 days, it all looks very polished. I think the best thing was the audio, it was a perfect fit for tumbling down the mines as a goblin, and the goblin cries were perfect too.
I like the low-rez filter you applied to everything, it has a certain retro charm to it. I think my only criticism art-wise is that there needs to be more design language applied to things that increase your speed vs. things that slow you down. It took me a while to figure out that the trampoline things actually bounce you up, because the low-rez filter made everything look like an obstacle, including regular barrels. (I know you give instructions in your game post, but I tend to just see the controls and jump right in)
I think the tunnel levels had interesting design and variation to them although there were some moments that were a bit crazy, especially the middle bit where you drop down and there's a barrel but lots of barriers around. That part kept stopping me over and over. I wish the air control was tuned up just a bit higher because it felt like I could barely steer the goblin. I think an interesting mechanic could have been to give us an extra jump if we smash into enough barrels, just so we don't end up to a complete dead stop if we make a mistake near the end, but was doing well the whole time.
Great entry, and thank you for the game!
@jag Thanks so much for the feedback! I am working on a full version of the game so all of this will be taken into account!
Cool and fun game, but unfortunately for me unreal engine moment, and the game runs 10-30 fps on my low end PC. Really liked the pixelated visuals.
It is a funny game, but very difficult to finish, the character is too difficult to control
