The mood is nice with the lighting and textures, and some spooky music would make it go even further. I found it difficult to tell what was going on a lot of the time. There were many cases where I thought I had escaped or I was just standing in the middle of the room and suddenly I was dead.
@duckwings At the start of some wave a saw spawn on the middle of the map to prevent the player from remaining in the middle
EDIT: I put the review for the wrong game here initially (hah). Here's the review for this one: A very interesting game! Great application of theme. The lighting and vibe are spooky. Gameplay is interesting. Great work
@arnenia go in the settings and on the top right you can see sound, you will be able to hear them
Cool concept, once I understood what was happening it was a lot of fun jumping around and swinging frantically, searching for the next opening. Props for the extensive settings menu, though all of my audio sliders did start at 0. If you were to put a mouse sensitivity slider into this game, that would make me so happy. I am used to super low sensitivity for fps games, so while I think your default value will work for the majority of people, it left me unable to truly control things the way I wanted to. And I really want to have that precise control because the game is quite fun!
Great work adding a leaderboard as well, I've done a number of those myself but never managed to present it as beautifully as you did here with the flickering light and the clipboard and all that. Awesome game!
Took me couple tries to understand whats going on.
Once I figured it out, I managed to get to level 3 I think :D
As @noniGirl said, the game is very unforgiving and that is a good word for this game. Your movement has to be very precise and as the walls are moving, it can get really frustrating.
Maybe a solution would be to not shring the "hole" in the wall, so it's easier to walk through it? I think I died too many times that the wall just hit me while I was walking through.
Anyway, the first time I smashed the hole and walked through and there were already next walls coming right at me, that was pretty cool! Fits the theme very well I think.
Love me some menacing drone ambience!
I second the comments regarding the difficulty and hole shrinking problem - too many times did I die because I hit the edges of the hole I just made. A quick hack would be to give the player temporary invincibility to dying from the wall (maybe 1 second) when they break a hole through it. For the other objects that can kill you like the spinning blade in the middle, the iframes/invincibility wouldn't apply.
Alternatively, make the walls individual entities but ID their orientation (North, East, South, West) and the player only dies to walls if they are touching two opposite walls at the same time. Because at the moment, touching the walls kills you too before they can even squish you
Pretty hard to understand what is happening and really unforgiving but nice job!
You really took the theme and went all out on it, awesome! The entire idea of the game clicked almost instantly (took 2 confusing but quick deaths), and I really like what you managed to do with it. Having to sometimes jump through the wall adds variety, and the evolution of the level is really nice. I only managed to get through one wall after the checkerboard floor so I don't know how much more there is, but I can imagine you could easily turn this into a longer, more polished game that people can grind at for hours (Devil Daggers comes to mind!).
Despite all the problems other comments already pointed out, I really enjoyed encountering this game just for the unique idea, never seen anything quite like it!
Great work guys, excited to see what you'll come up with next.
Would've been great if I could tell if my reach is enough. What made it harder, is that the opening in the wall basically moves in two directions: towards you and sideways. You may have created an opening, but the wall is moving sideways, so you're dead. But still I think there's potential.
Instakill-walls are doo-doo(
Spooky game! We ended up dying a lot for unknown reasons? I think the darkness when u first get through is a bit unfair as you can just run into stuff without seeing it maybe. This game was pretty addictive and we had a nice amount of polish. Well done!
Really good way of playing around the theme. Does the name has reference to WarHammer ?XD I loved it
I played it and was surprised by how challenging it is! The dynamics of the wall moving really puts you under pressure. I loved the dark design and sound effects, although it was a little confusing at first. I think a little tutorial or tip could help. Still, very well done and creative! Oh, and the Warhammer reference was a nice touch!
The idea is fun. The game is really difficult and pretty unforgiven. But I still had fun trying the game. Overall an okay little jam game.
Yo, Interesting game! I found it pretty difficult but boy you put effort into the main menu and setting. Very nice
love the idea and the mood, the death screen is a nice touch. the instakill walls are pretty brutal though, and the doorway getting thinner - although maybe feels tense - is just asking to frustrate people, since you can be too thick to fit through and youre essentially already dead. but you can see the effort and it was good fun.
Haha, awesome entry! Difficult, but fun to play! Good work.
I liked the implementation of the limited space theme in this game. The mechanics are simple but exciting. Sound and light effects create a gloomy atmosphere. Great job!
