Is there a web build coming to itch too?
@mrs-wheelsx yes asap, just have to make it function first lol
i really love the artstyle and his sad little stare. was fun exploring the rooms and throwing him around :p
I really appreciate this being point-and-click. It's a grossly underrated genre. That signature art style really shines, too.
Took a second to figure out I could move the guy by clicking and dragging him.
Round of applause for participating!!
@emsea Thanks! In future updates I'll have it so theres some indication of what you can click on, I just figured everyone would try clicking the old man eventually lmfao.
The game is stable now if you want to try for the endings rather than just flinging around an old fart.. We'll be streaming game ratings in around 5 hours, I'll wait until you're around to play yours but after the masterpiece poppet was I can hardly contain my excitement
Excited to try this once the HTML version is up!
Defs wanna play the HTML version!
It's a fun game and shows competence in game development! You did really good!
Wow this was actually a really good submission. Thank you!
I liked the drawing and movement, but I didn't figure out how to complete the game at all except to fall asleep on the couch.
Best ending.png
I think we all know it is the best ending.
I LOVEEEE the art. It's so well done. The pick up and drop animations are also unexpected and superbly made. The voice fits well and the ambience is also well put together. All that is to say, the production quality is awesome! There is a gem here, hidden somewhere under all that dirt and trash in his apartment. I look forward to more updates! :D

You can now play Grandpet in browser on itch! https://deadroach.itch.io/grandpet
It's finally the webgame it always should have been, thanks for all the support
Drag and drop adventure game, something different! Cool art style and I liked the voice over and the general mood and humour of it too, nice work!
Absolutely love the throwback to old flash games. I felt like I was back on kongregate playing some random little adventure someone made. I really like the art and consistent style you have. Your voice acting is great too. I really wanted to find all the endings but I just couldn't seem to. I found the couch as that seems to be the easiest. Then I found the basement after turning all the lights on with the creepy mass of bulbs hanging and skeletons but couldn't seem to interact with anything in the room to trigger and ending screen. At one point I went back to your pre-patch version and somehow randomly opened the trunk in the basement but could not repeat it so I have no idea how to actually open it. And finally I assume there is a code for the door somewhere but could not for the life of me sus out what it might be. Maybe I'm just dumb but nothing seemed to indicated a password number what I could see and I clicked ALL over all the rooms. Like I said I really wanted to find the endings so if you have any hints I'd love to try and finish it. Besides that I didn't figure out I could drag him around for a while but I'm not sure it was even relevant to the game play. The only need for it seemed to be to enter the left and right rooms but then I could drop him down holes but didn't need to carry him to upper floors so it just felt a bit inconsistent in terms of how I needed to get around this house. Also if I dragged him against the keypad door I would teleport to the bathroom. Loved the variety of voice lines. I think my favorite was the cat poster "I'm tryin little man". I know it can be hard to cram in everything you want in a jam so overall great job on what's here!! And again maybe I'm just dumb and need some hints for the other endings.
@rhoka Thanks for playing and for pointing out the exit door glitch, future updates will allow you to drag him up the ceiling hatches I just couldnt get the collisions consistent enough before it was due. A few people have said the thing about not knowing to drag him around I'll add that to the game description and eventually indicate it better in game, I just figured everyone would try clicking the old man lol. A couple of the endings don't have cutaway screens and just leave you with no further option which seemed like a fine enough alternative at the time but clearly in a point and click that isnt really reasonable lmao, we'll make it clearer in later updates. The lightroom is one of the endings. You definitely aren't dumb the puzzle isnt made obvious at all lmao. Your hint is [redacted]. Thanks so much for all the feedback, it's seriously appreciated!
Fun game! Like the animation dragging the old man around. But seems hard for me to find all the endings. Found the sleeping end and the all lights on end. Working on the password but still confused. It seems the keypad monitor 6 numbers. Is it about the handwriting of HANG since the 4 is like H, N is like 2, and G is like 6?
I didn’t find all the endings — and probably never will — but this is one of the best games I’ve played from this jam. Finally, a game that’s not about tunnels, pits, or canyons. I really love how you interpreted the theme Depth — it felt fresh and meaningful. The voice acting and art are top-notch, really reminded me of old Flash games. Combined with the game’s theme, it genuinely hit me with a wave of sadness.
Thank you for this game. 💙
Super cool illustrations! I love the atmosphere and the voice of the oldman. I searched all the rooms but I could hardly find anything I could interact with. I found only sleeping ending. Except of this I had a lot of fun trying to figure it out :) Well done!
Wow, fantastic art on this one. In a kind of horrifying, "please don't make me look at that" way lmao, great work. I fear this game may be my future.... I do agree with the couch being the good ending as well. Very realistic.
Dragging the dude around was good fun, I like how he just kinda accepted it. I hope he is able to keep hanging in there :( bro also wtf is up with his toilet???? My god, is he a gamer or something? That is the bathroom of a gamer. Don't ask me how I know.
Super creative entry, good work on this one! All my little criticisms have already been mentioned above so I'll just leave my praise here :D congrats on a successful jam!
Nice art and sound + voice. And I like to drag this guy. But maybe it will be more impressive if you add more object to interact like a photo and open more LOR of this old dude
Really loved the art, voice lines, and that signature Flash vibe. Dragging the old guy around was oddly fun 😂 Still missing a couple endings, but I’m hooked. Great work!
I like the art and the bleak atmosphere you were able to create. I was a bit frustrated that I couldn't find any endings other than the couch. It didn't seem like there was that much stuff to interact with, yet there's 4 endings I haven't found? This is just a skill issue I suppose. Good job with the original take on the theme.
Wow, I tried and tried, but could only find 2 endings. I really wanted to escape, I really did. But, so too have I wilted.
Awesome art and throwback! It brings me down in the good sense, and makes me want to bring this guy out of his depression. Good voice acting and reactions!
Got the light and couch ending on the download version, but the lights ending wasn't seeming to work on the web build, idk if I bugged something out or that's just how it is. Been trying for a while to find the door code, and can't figure it out. I saw there was something to do with colors, but I can't find anything that gives a sort of order to it. Maybe something in the picture? Eh I'll figure it out eventually. I have to believe that the clock means something as it is the only numbers in the game that I can find, but I did notice that it always starts at a random time from what I can tell. Someone @ me if you figure it out!
(So the clock always starts at 3 something, maybe that's something?)
This was a wonderfully miserable experience in the best possible way. Your signature style is really great, utterly cartoonish and yet manages still to capture a total dissonance in tone with that photo and reflection. I'm dreadful at it, but I liked being bale to grab the grandpet and drag him around, whilst also acknowledging that it seems to be a meta thing, tied to his feeling of agency (or lack thereof). I have only found two endings (indeed, I'm wondering and worrying if he had something to do with the fact that his family is all dead). I believe I'm getting closer to figuring out the code but I'm not there yet. My current theory is the bookshelf and cups in the living room's colours all contribute to the code, and that the order of the code is denoted by the button order on the tv remote - that's surely not a coincidence. But it seems like the code is 6 digits and there are only 5 colours. I wondered if each shelf is a digit, plus the ones in the living room, to make 6, but then I have 6 digits for each colour, so that's not right. There's something else I'm missing but i'll have to come back to it.
For now, loved the entry, it was miserable, and I love that even the fake oven is sad.
The style is super cool! The art is stunning, everything is consistent in one style — top-notch quality! I really loved the solution with dragging the character and their animation when falling))) The sounds are great too)))
Did this one over again on stream. Love the new improvements. Sad I only got 3 of the 5 endings :(

I loved this game! Found 4 endings. "He'll be back!" Fantastic game!
EDIT: I found all 5 endings and holy shit, that was hard. Good game. 5/5
Got 3 endings (fish, lightbulbs and good one).
Couldn't figure out how to get the code. The theory was that it's either the family picture or colors on the remote + cans in the basement, but neither helped.
Well done!
Lots of kudos for the animation, and the voice acting is solid.
Found the three easy endings easily enough... found the door code by chance, then went back to figure out the right way to do it, and it really feels like there's a clue missing -- how were you SUPPOSED to figure out the 7th button? And then I found the last ending... which was easy enough, but it took me three tries before I did it without making any mistakes.
Gotta say, that wasn't good for my thanatophobia. >.> But that's just a me thing.
@coda-highland Look in the bottom right corner lol it's just kinda tough to see, I'm guessing if you found the door code by chance you're running the bugged original jam version? I can't imagine you guessed the door code organically since that's a 1/46656 chance, I'm going to assume you reverse engineered a bug to find the endings which I consider not only super interesting but totally valid so good job lmao.
Fear of death is an unfortunate one to have but also very normal! Not everyone's fear is inevitable but in a sense I think that probably makes it easier to cast it from your mind, being that it's the one thing we all do. You've not existed for far longer than you've existed and you weren't panicked last time you didn't exist - so not only are you stressing an occasion you won't be around to experience, but also the very thing you're afraid of will relieve you of that stress. Consider the possibility that the unborn do fear life. We're both here and living, blissfully unaware of such fear and any worrying about us being born would have been wasted energy. We don't know that at the time of course, which is why I think your true fear is the uncertain circumstances of death - and once again that fear will one day be relieved by the root cause. My grandparents on my dad's side are nearing their time and have been hiding from the world holed up in a small house 2 hours away from anything since the beginning of covid. They have lived out what is sure to be their last years miserably. If you spend your whole life running from death you may very well forget to live. Now ask yourself which of those outcomes is truly scarier. Don't know why I felt compelled to type all that out but I hope it's helpful in some way.
> I’m guessing if you found the door code by chance you’re running the bugged original jam version?
No, 0.1.2. You're right that I didn't guess it organically; I ran `strings` on the data package to see what assets might be hiding out in the game that I hadn't discovered and that was the only 6-digit numeric-only sequence I found. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
> If you spend your whole life running from death you may very well forget to live. Now ask yourself which of those outcomes is truly scarier.
Oh, I know. But I'll be turning 43 in a few days. By the statistics, I'm most likely past my halfway point. I have a wife and a son. If something happens to me, who will take care of them? My wife has had a lifelong struggle with depression... If something happens to _her_, who will support _me?_
It's an uncomfortable reality, but I try to let it drive me toward making my little part of the world a better place.
I took me a while to figure out I'm supposed to drag the old man around even tough it's right there in the description, but for the only ending I found I didn't even have to do that :D Anyway, a great looking game and funny voices.
Thanks for playing my game on stream! I have tried for some time now, but could only find 2 endings...
I really love the point-and-click idea and I want to make one for the next LD. The voice acting is very good and adds a lot to the experience. Really a great entry.
I really like the flash inspired art style and animations, but the game is a bit confusing. There is hardly anything you can interact with and the dragging mechanic is only used for movement (or at least that's all I've managed to figure out). Only managed to get the bed ending. Tried doing the "all lights" one someone talked about in the comments, but after turning on all the lights nothing happened. Not sure if I have to do something more or not. It's not really clear what to do and I really don't like the "click on everything until something happens" approach
One thing I liked was the audio and the atmosphere. Dialogue is clear, sound effects are good and even though they are used sparingly, I think they are just enough
I also noticed some layering glitches when dragging the grandpet and there was that one time where going down to the basement would automatically teleport me back to the kitchen. Also, fullscreen on the web version is weird, had to decrease the page size to view the whole game
Overall, I liked the game, but I wish it wasn't so random in what you are supposed to do.
Loved the classic Lucas point and clicks like Monkey Island, so this is a neat throwback. Lots of art with a classic almost adult swim style. Little touches like the clock working and the voice acting help bring it to life
I miss old flash games. Point and Clicks are really underrated. I remember how much fun I had with MACHINARIUM many years ago.
Your game is very interesting and sad at the same time. I died on a dofa and got stuck in a room full of lamps. I couldn't find anything else.
Your art is very beautiful and detailed and the lack of music was really the cherry on the cake, giving the feeling of emptiness in Grandpet's life.
A sad end to a well-made game.
I await updates!
Congratulations!
Wow, that was interesting! I spent a lot of time trying to figure out the code, but didn't manage to get after all. Could you give some hints how to solve it?
Impressive game! Fish painting started singing was awesome! And dragging old man is hillarious. I'll need to replay standalone version, because I'm stuck in web not fitting fullsscreen, you must have a relly big monitor! Good luck
