Very nice, I like visual and peaceful mood I would just suggest to move away a bit the camera and to add an autoforward
Absolutely loved the feel of this game, so relaxing and cute! I'm surprised with the amount of polish on this one. The physics felt just right if you want that cozy sit on your couch and zone out to the sound of wind gusting away! Great programming too with full keyboard+controller support.
Flying ships! I never clicked on a game icon that fast) Just outstanding that you were able to pull that much off.
Islands, sound design and music - my deep respect, everything feels great. Ship model is just fantastic. And I loved the way you can control sails separately from engines, just the right balance between sim-ish and casual hold-W-to-fly mechanic. Ship travel feels a bit slow, even in the wind. I'm not sure if later upgrades will help with that but alas. I am but a weak average LD participant, I have an attention span of 10 minutes. Maybe I'll get back to this game once I rate enough projects and get some rest.
Lovely aesthetic, very detailed sound design (ship creeks, wind howls, great soundtrack). Very much a cozy game with a lot of potential. Looking up to see all the islands creates a sense of awe and wonder that's rare to find in a Jam game (Reminds me of Grow Home).
Gameplay, I wish there was a bit more, faster. I flew to a few different islands, just because that's where the wind took me. I suppose the upgrades can help speed things up and break away from the wind, but I lost interest after a few islands and feeling like I had no agency in where to go in good time.
I could fall in love with the right pacing and upgrades. Great job!
very cool concept. the wood creaking sound effect is chefs kiss.
I love steampunk and flying ships. Your style is great. Good job!
Really cool to see more Godot Devs here! I liked the 3d visuals a lot. Very well done. Also the air was nice made. The music was also very nice! I just wish the ship would be a bit faster so it dont take so long to fly around! Great Effort and Entry!
I loved the music and the nice calm atmosphere! The wind effects were excellent. The only complaint I have is that the UI did not scale and I found it very small and a little bit difficult to read on my 4k screen.
Absolutely stunned by the graphics, but also the game mechanics and the music was very very good and fitting. Very relaxing gameplay, keep up the great work :)
It is extraordinary how good the graphics, the mechanics and above all the music, are. I was stunningly playing the game feeling part of its world. And even though the mechanics are not simple they are well implemented and the game learns them to the player. In general I think it was a very solid interpretation of the theme with a lot of imagination. The only problem I had is that, because initially I tried to play it from my old laptop (Intel Core i5 8th Generation with no extra GPU) it was very laggy, almost unplayable. Then, because it looked very gorgeous, I played it on my PC (that has RTX 3060) and I faced absolutely no problems. One last thing, I believe it would be very nice to have some extra interaction with the world instead of just moving from place to place. You have the air flows that help with these, but I think in general if you had some kind of dynamic weather conditions that help your trip or making it more difficult, or something like this. Anyway, congratulations for the result one of the best games that I played on the jam!!!
I'm shocked this doesn't have more ratings - an amazing amount of polish for a jam game! The mechanics are solid, the world is really relaxing, and I could see myself playing this for a while. My only suggestions would be to try to simplify the control scheme a bit - it was good, but a lot of buttons - and maybe make wind currents easier to distinguish.
Brilliant work by all!
amazing graphics and music! (sad that the music diddnt loop though). admitedly the gameplay felt a bit lacking, but obviously this being a jam game, thats expected sometimes. Still had a blast and enjoyed the scenery!
A joy to experience. The wonderful feeling of freedom in the air as a result of excellent music and atmospheric sounds is a feat on its own. The visuals are also charming as all hell and I love the idea of this game expanding into something greater with a deep, touching narrative. Great work by the whole team!
What a cool little world. Despite the relative simplicity of the mechanics and everything, the world was just so darn cool to fly around. If anything, I think more easter eggs on the islands would be fun! I felt the wind was a really interesting mechanic, more of an obstacle than a help most of the time. I really wanted a map of it, I tried to keep mind of where wind was but over the rather large map it's difficult. As well, I think the wind zones' width is a bit large, for sailing through them - but if you want to keep them an obstacle this is a good thing! Really good job overall.
Please publish a web build!
Absolutely outstanding work! I have been playing this for the past hour. I do feel the speed of the game (both the base and max speeds) are a little slow to the point you start wondering why you are still playing between islands. Getting to destinations a little quicker (not too quick) would definitely help with that. The controls for adjusting the sail are a little awkward and I wonder is there is an easier control scheme that doesn't have you reaching for ctrl.
The biggest issue I had with the game is that I use a 1366x768p screen so the UI didn't exactly work for me.Screenshot from 2023-05-06 17-09-11.png
Some things I would like to see are some form of speedometer. It took me a bit too long to realize that even with the sail up going against the wind was slower. It wasn't clear in the game (possibly due to my screen size) and isn't listed on this page that you could press I to open your inventory and change your destination.
It was also a little too easy to buy all upgrades after which there isn't really much of a point to keep playing the game other than that it is relaxing. It would be nice if there were more things to buy or perhaps maybe you could buy infinite speed upgrades but each upgrade has less and less effect. Maybe there could be cosmetic upgrades or different directions branching directions you could build your ship. Something that makes you feel you are working towards something other than the inevitable end of the game.
I also think the cargo upgrades are way too broken. After even just one the rest of your upgrades are far too easy to get.
One area I think the graphics could be improved is the shadows. Idk what it is but it stood out to me as particularly unimmersive. I think it would look really cool if the farther away the shadows were the fuzzier the edges were or something like that. Maybe if they could somehow shift with the waves? Idk how you would even do that but just SOMETHING about the shadows doesn't feel right.
Hope this isn't too much feedback but I REALLY like this game!
Good to see another Godot dev putting out a 3D game (though your project is *way* more ambitious than mine XD)
The amount of *world* here is impressive, but I have to say the game feels like it's missing some basic quality-of-life features - a speedometer and distance indicator for tracked cargo would've been much appreciated. I also don't like how the ship doesn't pitch up/down as you climb/descend. I know that maybe *technically* an airship *shouldn't* but I'm too used to flying mounts in Final Fantasy XIV; the lack of the additional direction signifier is jarring.
It also feels like the actual gameplay loop is slightly broken - the game was telling me I'd won before I ever ascended past the first three islands, though I still got a "Make final delivery" objective (never figured out what that meant), and even though I made it to Vaguely Island at the top, nothing special happened - in fact, it threw up a dock screen for "Sweetfish Isle" first, only giving me "Vaguely Island" after I closed it. So...given how much time the player needs to invest to make it that far, maybe make sure these kinds of things are working and not broken on release next time?
Speaking of broken, I think docking is too fiddly - feels like the hitbox for when the docking prompt shows up is too small and doesn't always line up sensibly with the actual dock. I don't think anyone would miss the actual docking animation, either, which just looks bad most of the time - skipping straight from pressing the button to the dock screen would be an improvement.
As an aside, I found the wind system equal parts frustrating and fascinating - it was annoying having to struggle against the currents to get where I wanted to go (maybe a minimap showing wind currents would've helped them feel less frequently like *obstacles?*), but it was neat how there was a system for tacking into them, and the particle effect itself was impressive. I'd love to know how to do something like that myself.
ayyy rhoka, heres vod for u team. One of my ideas was speed boost AF from winds moreso than it is now, but then I was also thinking like yo what about if you can activate wings like how you can put your sails up and down so then you get kinda like glider controls and then you can shift your wings around. The downside would be that you lose momentum quickly while moving upwards, so you still need to rely on your balloon ballasts to move to higher islands, but makes lower islands a *breeze*. Im thinking controls kinda like the Mario 64 flying hat but not as fast and not as tight on turns

This game is so atmospheric!~ I had so much fun just drifting around exploring all of the different locations. What's in the Jam entry is already super impressive, and as I was playing I was just wistfully thinking about how much fun I'd have if the islands were more fleshed out and you could walk around them. Definitely no shade for not implementing that though, what you have in the timeframe is already crazy. Catching the wind was super fun, although it took me a bit to realize I didn't need to angle the sail in the direction that I was going, but the direction that the wind was. When I was far away from any landmarks, it was a bit hard to tell if I was moving and how much, maybe some sort of radar map with a movement vector on it could be cool for that, or a wind trail behind the airship. Either way, this game was great, congratulations on putting something so cool together in such a short time! :)
