We might be able to deliver a macOS build in the coming days.

jcmonkey 2022-04-05 04:20

interesting game. took me a bit to figure out to turn the objects properly. i was just not good enough at turning and placing to beat the robots

mateu 2022-04-05 04:22

This was a great game! The concept was super unique and I thought the "puzzle solving" was a great addition. The addition of new pieces was also great, and felt pretty good, until you added four in one round. Then it got way too difficult. If I had time to learn what each piece did, then it would have been fine with all 8 pieces. One little issue I had was seeing the slots. Sometimes it was difficult to tell different slots apart. Also, I felt like the shifts were too long. For a game jam game, it is a bit of an ask to have somebody play a game for a very long time like yours requires. Other than that, great entry!

wasteofammo 2022-04-05 05:17

Smooth movement, outstanding graphics, appropriate sounds. Was very hard to figure it out at first... how to get the parts to fit was hard to figure out. Learned it after playing a few games. It is really hard to see what the slots on the back of the assembly looks like... Maybe raise the camera angle some? Or allow the chasis to rotate 180 degrees?

This is a great game to play after you have played it several times and gotten past the frustration of trying to figure out how to get the parts to fit. Tweak the issue of seeing the slots on the far side and it will be even better.

simpathey 2022-04-05 05:23

The only thing I would change is color codeing the connectors - it was a struggle for me. But dang the game came out polished! Great Entry!

honest-dan 2022-04-05 10:12

Love that I am credited for the 1 audio clip :D

ludevum 2022-04-05 15:00

Looks very good and works well. I like the rotating parts to be able to place it, if you memorized the correct orientation its faster than just guessing each rotation. I laughed when suddenly the amount of parts doubled, really trying to delay the inevitable then things get much harder.

I feel it was a little too hard at the beginning, and shifts felt a bit long when you need to do multiple for the game. I wish we could see the robot making parts too, that would be a funny contrast to how slow you are.

Overall pretty enjoyable.

gdesecrate 2022-04-05 23:20

Please support GLES 2!

jitspoe 2022-04-06 03:05

Two hundred and fifty-nine hundred cents. I'm not as fast as a machine, that's for sure. Interesting take on the theme! Great graphics.

jungle 2022-04-06 03:06

Came from jitspoe twitch stream. Pretty complex and challenging game. I like it.

mika314 2022-04-06 07:41

My brain is melting. Why I should compete with machine? :joy:

marcmagus 2022-04-06 14:52

Thanks for bringing your game by my stream for feedback! If you’d like to revisit the play and commentary you can view the highlight at https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1447203085

I enjoyed the concept. I found I struggled a lot to find the matching shapes between the bottoms of the parts and the circuit boards. Half the times when I thought I had the right part I didn't at all, and I ultimately found "I know which way is up, grab a random part and spin it through the upright orientations until I can mash something in like a dumb monkey" to be the most effective approach.

It's not *bad*, it's just not obvious *enough*. Or at least for me the difficulty of shape-matching scaled way too quickly, getting to what I would want for an "I'm an expert give me everything" difficulty around Round 3. Next time I'll just put everything in the Square Hole.

settings 2022-04-06 17:49

Good looking game, and overall it feels very polished. I had a bit of a hard time figuring out which piece to use :'(

leiv-erik 2022-04-06 18:04

Nice game! it did feel inevitable that i would be replaced by the robot! it was kinda hard to see some of the further away holes, would be nice if the perspective was shifter a bit more, but i guess that would mean we dont see the robot!

Anyway! Great job! <3

niklas-zhaga 2022-04-06 20:21

Just saw it on twitch stream :D This is not a game, this is a truly IQ test! :sunglasses:

Parts are recognizable, but complicated enough to think fast, where you should put it, good trainig for spatial thinking, I really enjoyed playing your game, mate.

steve7411 2022-04-06 21:11

I really like the puzzle mechanic. Pretty challenging at first, and you learn as you go, which makes for a nice progression when you replay.

jvdwijk 2022-04-06 23:33

This was a great entry! very very stressful but had a ton of fun in it! (and what, im in 2nd place!?)

outfrost 2022-04-07 01:47

We've pushed a build with a few minor bugfixes:

* The robot sounds were a little bit too loud; turned them down * Changed text colour to make the game over screen a bit more obvious * Fixed menu music not coming back on * Fixed robot model accidentally spawning on 1st shift on 2nd playthrough

Nothing about the gameplay has changed. The balance is still exactly the same.

Also, apologies, but we're **unable** to provide a macOS build, because I cannot install the FMOD Engine libraries and copy them to the project without a macOS device, which I don't have.

okamit 2022-04-07 17:15

Great concept and well executed, graphics are really nice. A bit hard to see at first which part goes where, due to the style, perhaps the slots could be made a bit clearer so it's easier to make fast decisions, but fun overall.

Good work!

stamestratagem 2022-04-07 20:17

very creative! and it gives space to getting better at it, you don't get bored. My only problem is that it's tyring to the eyes because of the dark + constant concentration

honest-dan 2022-04-07 21:18

Had a good time with this, despite being bad at it! I think if you could take a closer look at the board you need to assemble pieces on to, it would have helped. Maybe if you had infinite time to look at the pieces to learn them before a shift too, that could have been interesting!! really solid theme and mood, bit too plausible :D

badcop 2022-04-07 21:24

amazing game, trust me, as current reigning champ i would know 🫡

I love the robot and how it's concealed behind the wall. such a clever way to maximize impact while minimizing scope!

raptor851 2022-04-07 23:35

I love the game, fun-wise one of the best i've played so far this jam! Once you start to learn the patterns on the pieces it gets a lot easier. My only complaint is that even without putting any front pieces on sometimes it's impossible to see the pattern on squares in the back, and there will be 2-3 that could fit from what you can see. did 7 shifts, 34000 on first try!

teddyreid 2022-04-08 00:10

Absolutely brilliant, mate. Central mechanic is wonderful, graphics and audio also great.

$131,900 after 10 shifts! Pubbie world champ! 🤣

teddyreid 2022-04-08 00:21

This goes against some of the feedback you are getting, but if you take this idea further I don't think you should "de-obscure" the board. Looking at the board and figuring out which easier parts you can place without obscuring harder ones in the back rows is a nice extra layer of strategy.

It also adds a layer of risk vs reward to boards you complete whilst time-pressed. You can place the easier blocks and hit the button, or you can risk the money you'd earn by placing a couple of harder pieces then quickly placing the easy ones.

outfrost 2022-04-08 01:32

Thank you everyone for the feedback so far! We've been keeping the leaderboard updated, and you've all been fantastic :sparkling_heart: Loving your impressions and loving the fact that you've proven that the game is, in fact, _not_ too easy

If you come by my stream, I will be playing your games on Saturday and potentially Sunday. Others on the team might be planning something too.

Loved the game, placing the components feels so satisfying, the only extra feedback that I could give that I haven't seen already on other comments is this:

I wanted to post a screenshot of my score here (I don't remember how much I had, surely above 130000¢ but could've been ~160000¢), but when I started pressing the keys to take the screenshot the end screen closed, returning to the main menu. Maybe that screen should only be closed by clicking on "exit to menu" instead? Or if allowing to close it with the keyboard, restrict it to a few keys, like space, escape... (or at least allow the high score to be seen from the main menu)

(likewise, when I tried to pause for a bit on one of those "end of shift" screens, as I started to press alt-tab it closed it)

chrissx2 2022-04-09 15:06

Fantastic game and idea for it. It really trains your brain to quickly recognize the shapes. The robot arm animation is really cool as well! I almost got heart attack when the entire row of new items showed up :p. I didn't know there's a lose condition so i quite before the robot managed to beat me :<. Will play it again later on!. Great job guys! :)

wendel-scardua 2022-04-09 15:33

Managed to take a screenshot with Print Screen (which also closed the end screen):

**Score: 224800¢ in 12 shifts**

lumous 2022-04-09 17:23

Very cute idea, I like the setup. Couple things I would have liked to see. * Zoom in button- So I can highlight a slot and zoom into a top down view / mini-preview window that shows me the details inside. * A more linear progression curve, it starts out fine, and then suddenly u have to learn 4 new pieces. * A purpose to the device - Joysticks usually go near the front of a device, a monitor up at the top, etc. Or a car motor, a weapon, etc. Just some kind of familiarity with the device being built rather than just random.

Even without those though its really good! I like the idea a lot. Well done!

outfrost 2022-04-09 18:10

Well played @wendel-scardua! We've got a new top score :)

And noted about the keys. I've noticed that problem too.

cakts 2022-04-10 02:11

Fun game! My only suggestion is to move the camera higher or to a top down position, as it's quite difficult to see the components in the back row. Great stuff

osh-studio 2022-04-10 03:03

Played this game yesterday! Did you make the models yourself? They are so clean and nice, love this concept and it was really polished. Can't criticize this at all.

666savior 2022-04-10 03:37

@osh-studio yes we did! I made the attachments and their base blocks they attach to, along with the screens and their support beams. @cjgladback made the robot, conveyors, buckets and background, along with all the animations!

mnikn 2022-04-10 05:04

Go team Godot! And a 3D entry at that!

This was fun, innovative, and surprisingly satisfying! While the first 2 shifts were tough, I quickly got used to the pace and flow... then the bins doubled. That was a feels moment for sure.

Things I'd want if this was a fuller game: - A zoom feature. - A preview of the parts before shift, so I could just rotate them around and look at them off the clock. - Some 'human' workers to also compete against to make myself feel better. - An online leaderboard. We used Silentwolf.com over at Somnipathy, and it comes together pretty fast even at the cost of features other services have, and is free!

Overall this was a real pleasure to play, and totally worth the download!

pickyburrito49 2022-04-11 01:35

As Cyzaine said above: Go team Godot!

Well done to all of you. A pretty cleaver take on the theme with the assembly line and racing a robot. I was able to speed up a little bit as I got the feel for the part and what slots they fit in, although I never quite got the hang of the black angular one, yet stil felt tension once the robot appeared. I appreciate that while it looks like it is going quite fast, it is in fact not at first!

ksimaster 2022-04-11 12:31

Assembly line! Robots creating something! Cool! :) I liked it! :)

steamdeck-replacement-score2.jpg

New Steam Deck score! I'm surprised I got past 150k, but the stick + trackpad combo seems pretty effective.

And thank you all for **50 ratings** and all the wonderful comments! :sparkling_heart:

A few things we've been thinking about already: * Adding some slightly more obvious hints on the parts and connectors, especially the heatsink * Ability to rotate the assembly base - we had this in mind during the jam, but didn't have time * Ability to lean over / zoom in on the base * A short moment to familiarise yourself with the parts before shift timer starts * A brief pause between assemblies to check your stats and messages * A brief pause after timer runs out to allow your last assembly to fully roll out on the conveyor belt * Different difficulty curves in terms of available parts * One or two slower training shifts, before the actual challenge begins * Probably changing the "any key to skip the stats screen" thing * A better stats screen; I know that wall of text can be a little overwhelming to read

We'd like to do a post-jam polish pass. Let's see if we manage!

burchyn 2022-04-11 16:27

Second try on the stream and my first try I got on the leaderboard. I will give it another try and we will see if I can rank up ;) I love this game even if it rekt my brain! XD Thanks for submitting it!

I love this entry, it's a real brain breaker ! Love the mechanics, it's very polished and I enjoy playing it. Maybe, perhaps... somewhat??? Difficult :D But I would love to have a slightly better way to have depth perception, now I was pretty much spamclicking by round tree because my old boomer head couldn't wrap itself around the 3D-ness ^-^ Maybe adding a color or a way to "closer inspect " the configrations could be usefull. EITHER way, thank you for submitting this, I really enjoyed it !

burchyn 2022-04-11 20:32

I need to leave it here for now. See you another day maybe, if I get obsessive XD

Hello Outfrost,

Loved the puzzles super fun and really pulled me in. I think something to consider is having a more top down view of the panel to better understand and fit the parts. Great game :D

caudatecoder 2022-04-14 07:42

A really cool idea for the theme and great implementation! It's really fun to try to compete with a robot for as long as you can. Though once 5 new parts are introduced it's getting overwhelming quickly. Also the board looked a bit small on my screen and I couldn't easily distinguish which part should go where.

But those are minor issues, I really enjoyed playing your game! Thanks for bringing it to my stream! Here's a recording in case you'd like to refer to it https://youtu.be/P3HI-2edlag (your game starts at 2:42:42)

blurdeblah 2022-04-15 21:49

I only made it to the 4th shift xD great game! I found it a little difficult to remember the bottoms of each part but I'm sure that was the point. The robot arm in the background was a nice touch too

chris1919 2022-04-16 01:38

10 shifts, 147,000 cents on my second run. On the first run, the game crashed in between shifts unfortunately (that was the only bug I encountered though).

I really enjoyed this game. As someone who designs automation equipment like this for a living, you really nailed the vibe, down to putting the parts in totes. The mechanic for manipulating parts felt great. I'm very used to looking at 3D models all day though so maybe it came more naturally to me. My one complaint would be that sometimes the ports in the back row were obscured by the rest of the assembly just due to the angle and perspective. A little better visibility for the ports would be awesome.

Overall, awesome game!

lletzgogames 2022-04-18 17:04

Quite an interesting experience, I will surely play it again and try to really get the hang of it. A really nice representative of the life of a factory worker. Thanks for checking my game out during the lifestream!

outfrost 2022-04-20 01:58

Thank you all so much for your ratings, critiques and kind comments. This game has received the most LD ratings we've ever gotten, and we're really grateful for that! Best of luck to everyone at results announcement!

rhoka 2022-04-20 06:38

Very fun entry, you lot always make a good game! The robot opponent was fun to watch work while I scrambled putting them together. The voice lines were amazing. I appreciate you putting in my highscore with my weird joysticks only strat, it was fun trying to get as far as I could with minimal effort, but the boss found out eventually lol. As others have said it would be nice to be able to look at the board a little bit closer to be able to tell the notches apart better, perhaps color coding too? Anyway, great entry!

teddyreid 2022-04-22 15:17

This deserved a top 10. IMO, this was the best game I played in LD50.

I've continued to play this, and think about it, since the day I (temporarily) took the top non-developer score 😁

outfrost 2022-04-23 02:38

Happy to hear that @teddyreid

I think we are inclined to do some post-jam improvements, possibly.

teddyreid 2022-04-23 11:35

@outfrost That would be excellent. I've followed your itch account for notifications!
