Me thinks it is fun
The game is really basic, but it works fine! Some more feedback would improve it a lot, like a little animation or shake when you are hit and of course sound. You could opt out of the Audio category, since there seems to be no sound at all. For the gameplay, you have a solid basis there! It actually is fun to find a safe path to the next level. Better graphics would improve the game, but of course not everyone has access to an artist. Or time to spare for graphics. This game is obviously not a masterpiece, but a good and servicablefoundation, so well done for your first jam! Keep it up :)
In order to get your game some visibility where more people will see it and inevitably rate it, you need to play other games from the jam and rate them. This Karma system works really well, because if you rate 20+ games, you are more or less guaranteed to get 20 or so ratings in return. I found out about your game from the front page and noticed you were outright asking (or even begging) for ratings or views rather than using the Karma system.
I played your game. It's definitely not a game that I would normally pick to play and rate, so here goes...
Maybe I'll be polite and just say, congrats for entering the game jam. You have 'something', which is more than some people could say. Right?
On the other hand, being polite can often stand in the way of being helpful, which in my opinion 'being helpful' is more polite than merely nodding and agreeing.
I'll try to be a little more helpful then...
The game is not fun in any sense of the word. You play a character who can not visually turn side to side and has no animation whatsoever, who faces a bunch of gigantic guns, which can not rotate in the direction they are shooting but somehow manage to fire off continuous rounds directly towards the player even if there is no line of sight. The object of the game seems to be to find the exit, which is not difficult to do. With each passing level, it's basically the same environment except there are more guns shooting at you... and more barrels to hide behind. Until you die, which I never really died, I just got bored and quit.
You seem to be able to push the guns, for whatever reasons I couldn't figure out. I suppose, it could be unintentional. And there are some random barrels which can stop the bullets, although they cannot be pushed or manipulated in any way, as far as I could tell. I guess they serve as a sense of direction as you look around for the exit.
By the way, you spelled Ludum Dare wrong in the Splash screen of your game; "Ludum Dairy"
The art seemed to be the most interesting part of your game. Pixel art is always fun to look at. I have nothing negative to say about your art. I know how much time it takes to make it, so I'll give you a slightly higher score for that...
But, overall, the experience was relatively poor (for me). I hope you continue practicing, learning and submitting. It's only through experience that we pave the path to excellence. Best to you! :)
I think this game is off to a good start. In a way it was fun dodging the bullets and finding the exit. Audio would add a lot to this game (consider using something like Bfxr).
Is the thing you didn't finish the sound? Or the fact that there is no death for the player? I will say it is interesting and like other have mentioned, it is a good base to start from if you're trying to make an "avoider" style game. I've made plenty of those for an LD before. Congrats on submitting and good luck in the Jam.
thank you
thanks special to ( Almighty Games) (and everyone else ) everything is right for the splash screen got it of google. :) PS(i dont know if Almighty Games will see this but i wish he does).
Hey for your first game ever, you made it and you can play it and it ends which is more than some accomplish. That being said I think the major thing to take away from this is that adding a few small things can bump up a game a lot. Adding very simple audio (even if it's free stuff you didn't make, just opt out of that category) can give a huge boost. Hearing gunshots or hits or footsteps just adds to the world you're creating. The major thing was that the player didn't actually die, which makes the whole thing moot. There's no incentive to avoid anything; no challenge. You definitely have to make sure your core gameplay loop is there and works, then move onto other stuff.
Keep going though, keep making games and you'll get better.
Also KEEP RATING GAMES!!! If you want to be eligible for a score at the end you HAVE to go play and rate lots of others here. You've still got a little under two weeks to get there, but at this point it will take some work. Good luck!
The concept is intersting for a jam game, but i think the implementation lacked some spice.
For example i dont understand why you chose to spend more time detailing the barrels and the guns and left the player way simplier.
Besides that, the controls and game mechanics works fine, which led to a fun game session.
Good job!
Well, I found out clearly quickly the objective
You did not finish, so I hope next time you're able to make something within your scope of completion!
Though I must say, I ran out of health and still was able to proceed to the other level :stuck_out_tongue:
But keep at it! The art in some areas were more polished than others, but basic collision was accomplished, as well as a minimal objective. (I did try to run around to avoid the bullets)
thanks dude
Nice quick game, was a bit on the easy side, could easily dodge bullets. Controls work great, but i would have rather spent less time creating different guns and spend a bit more on animations. Eg, make the guns turn to the direction you are facing, or maybe detailing the player a bit more. But good effort :)
The Nothing army is armed to the teeth, huh? At least they don't have good aim :P
You shouldn't play with guns. Or fire. Or guns that spit fire. Don't try this at home kids.
Yeah, this game is far too easy. There's no chalange at all.
I think you have something here, just need to have the player die when their HP reaches 0 (I was able to keep going to the end of each level even when I deliberately ran into shots and should have died). Keep it up and keep practicing, you'll get further in the next jam!
so hi everyone i give-up on making the character die in the last hours of the jam when the jam ended i was taking a shower and the idea struck my brain that i need to make the character go to another scene but that was too late
I play online very often, it helps me to relax. Now I have little free time, I am studying in Boston to become a lawyer, and I get a huge amount of paperwork. A friend tells me to use this service https://www.bestessaytips.com/phd.php. What do you think? Who have you already helped with paperwork?
