I like it. Well done
I LOVE text games! Amazing experience. I was even surprised by the amount of option you had. Most text games on LD are more like "clickable short stories". Loved the music it really added a lot of atmosphere :)
This was an interesting experience. I survived the expedition, but I have so many questions  I'll have to come back and play this some more later. Good work!
A well done visual novel, with a couple of great twitst.
this game gave me the absolute CHILLS. This is a text game done correctly, even though your choices dont often have incredible impact on the storyline, the audio getting more and more twisted and dark was so incredibly imperilising. I got goosebumps all over from playing this. Just a question, i played it like 3 times but every time we all died, is there an actual good ending where u do manage to escape from the echoes and the zone?
Good story, it got pretty trippy. Nice choose your adventure type game. I enjoyed it.
@shootboots Yes, there are multiple good endings where some or all of you survive.
Cool to see text-adventures in a jam! Good work
This is a really cool, snappy visual novel with lots of great description. Nice work.
This was totally unexpected. I love the tenser and tenser music. Also the flashback change of style. I managed to escape and now I wonder if there's more to find, I'll try to play again. A good entry :)
That was deeply unsettling, really creepy tone, great writing and concept. Urgh I have chills, I gotta get back to the bridge. Where am I again?
Interesting story. I wish there was an option to adjust your music as it got disturbingly loud. My run took 10 minutes and with some UI and UX improvements I could see myself doing another run to solve the mystery.
Thanks for the game, good job!
That was a trip! I think I did well on my first run, not so one the others. I enjoyed this quite a lot, very intriguing!
The sudden change in the graphics was great at making it feel like the mood changed.
@coderaurus Apart from the volume, what UI/UX improvements would you like to see? (In a post-jam version.)
@zarkonnen Umm, well another thing would be your party information being more apparent. Could be just me, but I kinda missed/ignored them at first. Maybe isolate them visually? I would also drop the bullet points from your choices since you already distinguish them with color, and to me that seems enough.
Had me glued to the screen like an old Inkle game. Well done! :)
Well written. I have a theory that you and your party are not what you think you are.
Very cool. I love when it changes font and heads to a different scenario - very nice touch. Creepy and fun. Music is moody and appropriate.
Nice work on the story and the overall flow! I really liked the part on altering reality, memory losses, restarting your journey... The audio added a lot to the story, so I wish there were more sounds effect - and the music seemed too loud for me vs. the audio. The music fits well too to the mood and the story. In the end I got out of the second bridge but i was not sure whether i have left something to discover in the story. Alltogether great job and congratulations.
Very nice game, found it intriguing and cool. The music fit the game very well, got a little confused by the noises at first but got over it pretty fast. Would be nice to have some images of the areas and the characters, they aren't needed but would be a nice adition.
This is an amazingly well written game. I enjoyed every second of it. It really had me playing until I reached a good ending. Very well done!
I died. But hey! I felt how unstable everything was getting, so I guess that's a plus!
Really well made, played to the end. Story is well written also!
Your expedition survived! Some of them, anyway! Great game! Was pretty scared as I progresses... expected something to pop-out for a second there.
I've never been the biggest fan of text adventures, but this one really gripped me. I thought the story was really well written. The part about Clive recounting a memory that turned out not to be his was a really nice plot point. It got super tense at parts.
I've played it a few times and I *think* I've got all the endings. Not sure what I did though, but one time they all managed to get out in the car alive, the second time they all perished. Must have been the choice I made in the "dream".
Great entry! Loved it!
Very interesting story, gonna try to get a living ending :D I dont really play text games, so I dont have much experience with them, very nice either way :)
A fun "Choose your own adventure" type of game. So far I've discovered one good and one bad ending, but it got me hooked to try out more options. I like the narrative of exploring the unknown, with some hints of eldritch horror. The changed UI during the memory/vision was a nice idea, I think this could be a great way to expand on this concept.
Very fascinating writing. :bug: Unfortunately my expedition perishes all the time, but maybe I'm just too cautious in my decisions and need to take more risks.
@pavocado Yes! The choices you make in the flashback heavily affect your options for how to get out alive in the end.
@the-lame-brain You know that was not my intent at all, but headcanon accepted.
@zarkonnen You should totally add that as an ending! It turns out that your party are actually mimics, but as part of being mimics you also have mimic-memories from the original party.
Nice game, it seems to be very atmospheric, aspecially with this type of story. Also, I always liked the "Choose your own adventure" kind of games, but personnaly I never came even close to doing them RIGHT, like this one.
@the-lame-brain If I do a post jam version I will include some more hints in that direction and make sure there isn't anything in there to disprove that interpretation.
Loved the story, the scenario chosen (Tierra del fuego) and the mood. Very well done! I could totally imagine myself there while playing.
I tried to play it again more than once, but couldn't reach different results (as the other folks in the comments). It looked like most of the choices make no difference in the ending. Or was I just unlucky? Anyway, I'm looking forward to a post-jam version, would love to see how this story will evolve! Great game!
@mirianbr Try making different choices in the flashback, and doing either a lot of in-depth investigation (high stress, high knowledge) or very little (low stress, low knowledge).
This reminded me of old book games, where you had to go to specific page after certain action. I think it would be amazing to have some visuals, but scenario itself was interesting
Cool story and well delivered. For me it has associations with Stalker movie (magical zone), Naked Lunch (insects shaped like mechanical items), a bit of Solaris too.
Might be because I was feeling dizzy to begin with, but background music is mind altering, sometimes a disrupting sound would stop me from reading and I'd have to start the paragraph from the beginning, there were couple of pages where I spent minutes on, not really sure what I was thinking about.
Nice mood! Love the weirdness going on, the music and sounds are appropriately creepy. Would be nice to see some options and consequences of branching choices.
(also reviewing this since you have the same game name as I - tho you were first ;) - https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/49/the-unstable-zone-1)
