LD42 — Running out of space

Clot! by Ghoster 2018-08-18T08:14:25Z

Had a really nice visual feel, I like how consistent it was throughout playing the game. The animations looked really clean as well.

Had the same issues that others mentioned as my game pad was plugged in and it started shooting constantly, once I unplugged that and just used the keyboard it was better. I found the pacing wasn't great as the enemies would spawn at really irregular intervals leaving my little blob sat there looking bored, and when the enemies did spawn I'd usually get killed within a few seconds if there were more than one of them. I failed to score anything as I never collected enough gems or managed to push them together.

Overall the game had a really nice feel to it, just a shame the pacing and my inability to push blobs around the screen meant I never scored! Really good work for 72 hours!

LD46 — Keep it alive

Lost Goblins by pndaa 2020-04-21T12:52:49Z

Nice idea, and neat little puzzles. Loved the graphics and art style! Controls weren't that obvious to pick up (I got through the first level using the lever to move not realising "Next turn" was what I should have been pressing, I managed to die at the same time as that dialogue came up so I missed it!

pedALIVE (Pedal to keep it alive) by siryakko 2020-04-20T22:15:29Z

Amazing art/animation style and the different music was cool! Wasn't sure what the end goal was as it felt like I was just going forever though? Amazing entry though, very unique

Its Alive! by automatonvx 2020-04-20T19:49:10Z

Really loved this! Controls felt good, loved the puzzle designs, genuinely challenging too. Music and art design was great and felt consistent. Amazing effort in 48 hours

A Cold Walk Home by Stefanie Leitch 2020-04-20T19:16:34Z

Very slick game, love the combination of moving around, and text-based/clicker.

Olympus Rise - Greek it alive by RAC-Games 2020-04-21T08:03:46Z

This is incredible, art style was great and consistent, loved the different platforms to interact with, felt like a fully fledged game rather than something made in a game jam, amazing effort!

Loco Locomotive by freso 2020-04-22T19:59:56Z

Nice idea, tried a couple of different combos, to see what worked, was definitely a challenge! Nice work

Plant Baby by theArtifacts 2020-04-20T18:09:10Z

Really nice calming game, I did have some issues where either the plant wouldn't grow or the water level wouldn't go down, but managed to make a little jungle anyway. Really like the concept, the art style, the audio, all felt like it had a consistent aesthetic. Great effort!

Until it blooms by Eryph 2020-04-21T17:12:36Z

Fantastic entry, loved the art style, the music, sound design, concept was great and just challenging enough.

Metagame by itsonrandom 2020-04-20T17:31:37Z

@theartifacts definitely a bug! You should only be able to place it on the green border around the edge, so thanks for letting me know - will see if I can get that fixed in the next few hours!

Metagame by itsonrandom 2020-04-20T18:24:32Z

@theartifacts found the bug, it actually affected all levels so was pretty catastrophic! Have fixed now, thanks again for raising it!

Metagame by itsonrandom 2020-04-20T19:49:39Z

@SuperGamersGames my apologies!

Metagame by itsonrandom 2020-04-27T16:14:34Z

@duke main thing I learned this jam was level design is not my strong point! Love the idea of letting the player see the level in advance, it's a nice take on it. Appreciate the thorough feedback, thank you!

Northern Pirates by NorthernDevGuy 2020-04-22T20:08:26Z

Particularly liked the water graphics, but general art style was nice! Good entry

Hospital Ride by The1 2020-04-20T17:06:15Z

Really fun game, liked the tutorial, the artwork, music! Controls felt very slippery, and using w/up to move to the right threw me far more than I'd like to admit, but great fun all round!

Only issue I had was if I started colliding with a wall with momentum it's basically an instakill if you can't get off the wall, but I probably shouldn't have crashed into the wall in the first place

Pull The Levers! by jaoel 2020-04-20T21:33:36Z

Really enjoyed this, felt very smooth to play, made me think it would work really well in VR! Had "keep talking and nobody explodes"/"please don't touch anything" vibes, like the little messages on the screen on the left, but as mentioned above could have done with a bit more tutorial, as with so many intractable objects the panic was real when the error was going off, but no real idea of where I was going. That said, I loved it!

Keeper of the Flame by Elbapotsnugg 2020-04-20T21:53:25Z

Nice concept, the movement felt a little slow and there was no feedback on whether I had picked up an item other than the UI (which I totally missed the first few times). Enjoyed the music and thought it fit the general mood well.

Don't Blow It by Teun de Vries 2020-04-20T17:11:35Z

Really clever idea - fun trying to play with the physics to move the balloon although I could quite master it. Liked the little touches of using a popped balloon on the upper obstacles to show the consequences! Extra spoopy.

Keep Clive Alive by SoupornoGhosh 2020-04-20T16:59:40Z

Interesting concept but it felt like it laboured the point (got it after the first few iterations and didn't seem to go anywhere from there, I feel kinda sad now).

A few more different mechanics other than clicking on the screen could have been nice. Some visual/audio feedback of whether you had clicked the correct place (like in the resevoir) would have helped too.

Unlucky Day by landsykes 2020-04-20T21:39:42Z

Think the music fits with the moody, dark art style. Smooth gameplay too and really like the idea! A few more trap ideas/some sense of endgame would have been nice touches but generally a really great entry!

Mumei by Abid 2020-04-21T21:32:15Z

Nice platformer. Art and music go really well with the theme and good level design to boot. Nice job!

Area 64 by AdamWatters 2020-04-20T17:20:21Z

Only because you asked, spotted a typo on the first screen: * **First frame:** There are six different music tracks in the game so `ake` sure to have your sound on!

Really liked the game though! I hugged the monster, it did take me back to a different dialogue and the monster vanished which I suppose was a good thing!

Keep her alive! by Rirdeg 2020-04-20T17:26:49Z

Nice little platformer - I spent far too long platforming and so didn't really get a sense of why - I think I found a shop at some point but for some reason I instantly came out of it and seemed to go back to the title screen, so I think I lost a lot of the context of what was going on!

The Race Against Death by Salmonmeagar 2020-04-21T08:13:35Z

Neat concept, like how the environment changes as you get older. Did death speed up/become a better driver as you get older, or did I just get worse? Was a nice touch if so! Controls were good, I found the car seemed to drift a bit which made steering a bit harder, but otherwise really enjoyed it! Great entry

Project Kepler by LucaVazz 2020-04-21T12:19:28Z

Similar feedback to the others, other than the audio feedback was hard to know what would affect what, a quicker feedback loop of things affecting the ship stats (happiness etc.) would have helped a bit I think. Very ambitious project to take on during a game jam!

Rescue Mission: Amateur Hour by jsladovic 2020-04-21T11:10:27Z

Liked the moodiness of it! Given how big the level was it initially felt slow but when there were a lot of lights to avoid it worked well. Nice job!

Tom Braider by Nick Barrash 2020-04-20T19:30:41Z

Really nice concept, and the controls were good, felt smooth. Kept standing in the fire, so as others have mentioned, would be a bit more satisfying if there was some way of knowing about the fires before standing in them, maybe just a delay before taking damage? Was good fun though!

Caterpillar Quest by TurtleFlyte 2020-04-20T17:29:47Z

Really cool idea, liked the early warning before the enemies came in, felt pretty consistent to control, and the bckground music was very cute too!

Hosted by pulkit garg 2020-04-20T19:25:37Z

Good fun game, nice first entry too! Hope you had fun making it!

Turtle Team by welby 2020-04-24T21:33:58Z

Took me a while to realise that the food pieces were sitting in spaces on the back of the turtle, so making that pop a bit more from the rest of the colours may have helped a bit? Cool idea for a jam, and well done for animating water during a game jam!

Virtual Fish Tank by Jay Berlin 2020-04-20T19:40:22Z

Nice concept, as mentioned above, could have done with the ability to speed up time a little bit, but a nice calming game!

The Dark Cave by Tom Stephenson 2020-04-21T21:53:08Z

Having limbo flashbacks and probably won't sleep tonight because of the spider, good work! Amazing game, love the minimal graphics, they work so well for the style. controls felt slick. The idea of moving sound and light is great too, haven't really come across that before.

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Dungeon Blast by Yword 2021-04-28T18:12:17Z

Really fun game, felt super smooth to control! The graphics and animations are great, thought the choice of colours for the bomb explosions in particular were good to really make them exciting! The addition of extra mechanics to open doors with the bombs was neat too, getting the most out of what you've already built! And it does teach the valuable life lessons that all problems can be solved by blowing things up!

Deeper & Deeper: Attorneys at Law by NvrSkipGameDay 2021-04-28T17:38:07Z

Ah love the use of the theme for this, graphics and audio are great too!

Falling apart by yetanother 2021-04-27T16:57:15Z

Really lovely idea and the art design is beautiful! It felt a bit like trying to play the piano navigating both the left and right sides but was a good challenge! Amazing work

Kickstart Minecart by Elemental Zeal Game Studios 2021-04-28T17:41:23Z

Super fun! Physics feels really smooth and make it fun to experiment with the grappling hook to see the best way to use it! Graphics and lighting also really help! Nice work!

Foundations by cottontshirtz 2021-04-27T12:34:43Z

Nice to see something totally different! The voice acting really adds to the atmosphere. I fell off the platform many times, it being the same colour as the background really threw me. Could do with slightly better pacing and a bit more variety of mechanics, but really original work!

Explovation by sadsmile 2021-04-27T09:12:52Z

Nice little game and a fun twist on digging down. The enemies are pretty tough! Music and graphics were good, love the use of lighting to set the mood too!

Voyager 3 by Captain Nakou 2021-04-27T12:29:04Z

Nice concept! Good sense of impending doom. Could have done with a bit more interactivity and pacing, and the main bulk of the content being in the top corner of the screen was a bit hard to read. But story was interesting, felt very interstellar inspired too!

Grave Fallers by Pavel Smejkal 2021-04-27T20:49:47Z

Enjoyed this! Appreciate that you used real instruments for the music and loved the SFX haha. Good fun game too!

Deep Jupiter by TevasLiutauras 2021-04-27T12:47:01Z

This was so good! Really well paced so you had time to learn the controls but the pressure was still on to manage everyting, the humour was on point too. Amazing work!

Deep trouble in the art gallery by Rob Parker 2021-04-27T08:56:26Z

Love the twist on the theme! This is an exceptional example of programmer art too, being set in a gallery feels very appropriate. MEOW

Deeper & Deeper Research Ltd. by itsonrandom 2021-04-27T12:08:11Z

@arya-s thanks for the suggestion! I definitely need to work on my physics! Glad you found your way through the door too, I'll add that to the known issues

Deeper & Deeper Research Ltd. by itsonrandom 2021-04-27T16:58:02Z

@hidjy The tiles were the first thing I did, wanted to come back and re-do them but just ran out of time! Thanks for playing

Deeper & Deeper Research Ltd. by itsonrandom 2021-04-28T17:34:23Z

@spyturtle thanks for playing! Sorry you hit so many bugs though, I definitely should have left more time to playtest and iron some of them out, but glad you enjoyed some other parts

Deeper & Deeper Research Ltd. by itsonrandom 2021-04-28T17:34:47Z

@sequoiadolce thanks for the feedback! Really glad you got to enjoy it all!

Deeper & Deeper Research Ltd. by itsonrandom 2021-04-29T08:44:10Z

@midamida oh that's a new one! I have no idea why that could have happened too, sorry you didn't get to finish the game, you were so close!

Deeper & Deeper Research Ltd. by itsonrandom 2021-04-30T20:17:53Z

@landosystems oh yeah that would make it hard, sorry about that! Thanks for playing

Time to grow down by Hidjy 2021-04-27T17:00:59Z

Nice idea with the mechanics, the growing towards the mouse is a bit too subtle and it's not obvious when it's working, but nice and relaxing to see everything grow, good job!

SUBTERRA by daniele 2021-04-27T08:49:58Z

Wow! This was great. I was terrible at it . The graphics, audio, and tutorials were so well done. I found the controls a bit tricky? My miners got stuck and I couldn't figure out how to get them back to the subterra as it wouldn't let me draw the path, there also seems to be an issue with trying to "play again" after I died. Otherwise though, amazing effort.

The Depths of Science by Trusty 2021-04-27T20:59:08Z

Did not realise this was a horror game at first so when the first enemy walked up behind me it was terrifying! Pink monster on the 2nd floor is glorious too. Good fun game!

Altum Altum by Maxwell3000 2021-04-27T17:16:39Z

Really loved this idea. Great idea to include the history on the right hand bar too, that helped a lot! Great work

The Mine to Sentience by spyturtle 2021-04-28T18:06:20Z

Super cute little game! I love the character design in particular. As others have said, it was a little hard to control at times, would have been good to see how much treasure/bits you had as well? But otherwise nice work!

A long way down by Trolog 2021-04-27T17:04:25Z

Nice game! I particularly like the use of lighting, and the animations as you fall/the grenades blow up! Really good effort

The Way to Survive by HerryFabien 2021-04-28T11:58:57Z

As others have said some animations for the workers and a progress bar would have helped manage everything a bit, I think I broke some pathfinding too as I couldn't move some workers! But there's a lot of mechanics in a game developed for a game jam so great effort

The last Ark by Thiradil 2021-04-27T12:18:46Z

Art looks good and moody! Music and sound is good too, although for some reason it was jumping a bit when I was playing. I found it a bit hard to see what's going on around the machine as there's not a lot of screen space, and not really obvious how to interact with the people working on it, but nice work!

Deep into the Forest by Collin Visser 2021-04-27T08:15:59Z

Cute little game! The animations were well done and I liked the art style. As someone else mentioned, having a bit of feedback when the enemies get hit would be good. I also kept missing the doors as they blend into the walls so much, and nearly finished the game half way through as I didn't realise I needed to go back somewhere! But otherwise great job!

Deep In Yourself by Poppy Entertainment 2021-05-13T20:41:18Z

Really enjoyed this! Had serious Hollow Knight vibes with spotting yourself on the hill top and general mechanics! The graphics and moodiness were great, and the sound effects were really creepy in a good way! A bit more feedback when you take damage would have helped and I did not realise I'd picked up a double jump until I just tried it out! But great effort!

Toad in the Hole by diabolical-sloth 2021-04-28T12:54:29Z

I really enjoyed this! Lovely atmosphere and the music and SFX really added to it. Super simple graphics but they were really effective too! Agreed the pacing of some of the dialogue was a too slow, maybe having shorter snippets between gameplay? But given it's mostly a narrative game it worked! Amazing effort for the two of you

Jawbreaker by arya-s 2021-04-27T12:14:14Z

Nice take on the theme! I struggled a bit reading the text as it's such low pixel count and like a few others misunderstood the controls at first, but great work especially for the compo!

Trash`n`Roll by WhiteCubeGames 2021-04-27T17:10:51Z

Nice concept!! As others have mentioned, a bit more visual feedback could be good to help figure out what's going on. I liked the low poly art style, the colours were a bit muted so maybe something more vibrant would have been good? Although it's a game about shovelling trash so maybe not  Nice work!

yeeeeeeeeez by plague 2021-04-27T09:05:34Z

Music and sound design is great and the art is really atmospheric for the theme! I found the controls pretty tricky, if there was a bit more warning about when the obstacles were going to come up it might have helped or the controls were just a bit snappier. But great stuff!

Caves of the Forgotten by CorbenG 2021-04-28T11:53:58Z

Nice game! Good to see something thought out from start to finish even if you did trap us in there at the end! Some nice references too! Loved the art style as well. Really impressive work for 48 hours!
