The game fits the theme very well. Artstyle is basic, but I like that fireball cast animation and those small details, like eyes blinking.
A bit short, but I was pleasantly surprised to see a shop in there.
Controls are ok. Jumping could be more useful, currently it is unneeded.
Unfortunately, after passing the shop, attacking enemy throws an error
To the moment I've reached - The game is enjoyable, sounds and graphics are cool. Good job!

@zubspace Appreciate the the feedback! I opted for a more basic artstyle partly because I ended up spending a bit too much time on the enemy AI. I think jumping lost some value at one point when I did some balance tweaks, earlier in development it was almost crucial in order to not die; because casting bolts was too expensive and enemies would do it constantly... :sweat_smile:

@noobexception Damn, I will have to look into that! Was it when you attacked or the enemy?
@sodaro Weirdly, I can't recreate it now, I've passed the game. Maybe it was something with my computer, I don't know. I believe it happened on my attack, but not sure.

@noobexception Alright, thanks for trying to find it! I wasn't able to recreate it so hopefully it was a one time thing, might still try to add some fail-safes here and there just in case! :smiley:

Really fast, but intensive experience. Graphics is really eye-pleasant and audio is also good. The game for sure needs longer level. Anyway, good job!
That's cool but way too short, I was able to beat the game too fast, I was waiting for other monsters to shoot :) You had no time to add stuff in the level ?

@sebastien-bourgeois Nah sorry :smiley: I wanted to add more but I ended up spending too much time on the enemy AI, and I thought that just adding more of the same enemies without anything else would get too repetetive for the player haha
the game is very fair alive to win
It's a bit unbalanced, stab are difficult to land while shots clean enemies with little risk, but otherwise it's very well made.

Fun little game, it fits the theme well! Good job for the compo! Maybe the only thing that I found a little bit annoying is that the mages shoot you from outside the screen so you can not really dodge their shot. It was a little short too but... 48 hours is short too :D

@gozz Glad you enjoyed it! Yeah the other mages can sometimes remain outside of the screen when knocked out, but they should move back in if you move further to the left (though I can see why that is something that isn't really clear :smile:). My goal with the next Ludum Dare is to make something a bit simpler so I will hopefully have more time to make playable content! :smiley:

I really enjoyed playing this for some reason. There is a fun little game here and I could see this transforming into a fun smash-em-up with some TLC. Art style is minimalist but consistent and serves the job. I don't know why but the ending just made my day. :D

@jaywoody Thanks for all the kind words! I was kinda low on time when I started to make the ending so I sort of went with the first idea that popped into my head, glad that you liked it :smile:
