Nice idea! Gameplay is simple but I really enjoyed the introduction and the pixel art. Unfortunately for me, I have a very bad aim lol

Straight forward, not over thought, well designed, good story, nice difficulty progression. Well done.
I guess I won't make it this winter ahah. I loved your retro style graphics, remind me of those old consoles I played with my uncle, was it a super NES? I just don't know :')
Great looking game! It was fun, even though I'm bad at it.
That was a pretty decent game! Very good for a first game Jam!
I really liked the JRPG like font, and the graphics in general. I think that instead of a timer, you could just end the game after the player missed "X" apples, so that the player is not forced to continue playing a doomed game.
Sometimes it feels like clicks that should have picked apples did not register. Maybe make the collision box of the apples a bit larger?
My best score was 80, after about 4 tries.
Thank you for the game!
@simsax Thank you! I love pixel art :3 but it was the first time I made some so it took a while
@scilly-guy tysm ^^ yeah I wanted to keep it simple for my first jam since I figured if I went for sth complicated I might not be able to finish it
@horda Aww xd I tried to make it winnable but not too easy to beat. I was able to win like half the time myself. But I also have a pretty good mouse...
With the graphics I tried my best to mimic the style of the NES ^^ along with all its limitations, that's why there are simple obv repeating textures with a simple palette.
@greynovembergames Glad you enjoyed!
@caranha Ooh thanks a lot for the feedback! How many apples are left is random, but yeah I agree there should be a way to at least reset the game if you know you're not doing well. I was thinking of increasing the size of the collider, and would probably have done that if there was more time. I would have needed to add a separate collider for that, though, because the current one was also used for collisions between apples on the ground.
It is surprising that people are finding the game rather difficult. I suspect the difficulty might still vary between diff computers somehow, despite the hotfix. Dunno why that would be though.
@mihkelroomet Well, after participating ludum dare several times, one thing that I learned is that "the game is always more difficult than I think it is".
Probably because we play the game maaaaany times while developing it, while people giving comments will be playing it for the first time, and probably only playing the game 3-4 times before moving to the next one.
(On the other hand, there is also often SOMEBODY who will be maniac about your game and say it is too easy :-P)
@simsax @horda @greynovembergames @caranha Ahh you guys were right, it WAS too hard - game parameters were not being reset and so it was only possible to win on the first try. I pushed another quick fix.
So dw you're not bad hahah I just forgot to write a couple of important lines.
@caranha But I do believe what you said about the difficulty. Guess you should always make it a little too easy for yourself.
Nice intro, and straightforward game. I guess you don't care for baked apples? ;) I actually enjoyed the challenge and stressful pace
Tried 5 times. Couldn't beat the game. Reminded me that I have a gamer mouse that I almost never used. It worked! LOL
That was a very good introduction, it defined the challenge and explain the goal of the game in a straightforward way pretty quickly, nice game overall.
As others have already pointed out, the clean pixel art and quick game-play make for a compelling experience. I was also horrible at catching the apples, but enjoyed the frantic clicking :)
Love the graphics, reminds me of old pokemon games. The game mechanic is pretty straight forward, a bit challenging, I failed 2 times.
@fnelix haha thank you, glad it was your type of game xd
@kenneth-dd oh wow, so it worked and you made it :D good job, I think you're the first one to report having beat it
@xdefault thank uuuu, yeah most of my time was spent on the intro, like 85% lol
@noobman64 hahah, thanks so much!
@passbykamenrider <3 yesss glad you liked the pixels, I love them too. I'll make an easier game next time xd
I tried to play but unfortunately it wasn't working well on my 32:9 display. The text box was always just empty so I didn't understand what was going on. I did click on some falling apples but without knowing what was going on, I don't think I can give it a fair rating. I did enjoy the NES-style art though.
This reminds me of some aim trainers I've played!
I like the text advance noise and the fire animation. Overall it felt good to play. When I finished, the game restarted before I could make a mental note of my score :slight_frown: I'm sure it was low. Maybe that's okay :sweat_smile:
Capture.PNG Finally beat it... only by switching over do my drawing screen, which is cheating I know. I would never have beaten this otherwise (Even Osu is easier for me) That said, this was satisfying after practicing about a dozen or so times haha xD
Cool concept. I'm not getting any close to beating it (keep failing at around 5500) but it was pretty fun!
The orchard on fire really sold me that I should play this game. So play it i did. xD I felt like it was a ... um... what's that game called. ... heroband or gitar hero or rockband or somethign or other. That kind of game. :-) It was neat. I was woefully inept at completing your wonderfully coded game, but great work!
@bentglasstube 32:9 😅 I'd like to think I wasn't the only one caught out by that among games you reviewed. Yup, it definitely doesn't scale to all resolutions. Maybe next time I'll have more time left over so I can work on it.
@googlypoo Glad to hear you liked it 😄 I also felt like it would have been nice to be told your score after the time runs out, that would have likely been the next thing I'd have added.
@pazzi Ayy great job 🥳 Hmm, maybe it would actually work better as a drawing screen game
@matank Tysm for playing!
@commanderstitch Aww that so nice to hear <3
