Link is broken, let me know know if you fix it and I'll give it a go!
Nice game, the result is super polished for 48h jam game. The bosses felt a bit repetitive at some point, but that's compensated by the vast amount of weapons available!
Really fun to play! I love the sound effects :wink:
@indigo and @linus-lindberg, I apologize! The page was set as a draft.
@albertnez Thanks for checking it out! Yes, that was my biggest obstacle, making the bosses interesting and I probably should have focused more time into that.
@owca Thanks for trying it!
Haha I loved the mouth sound effects. The different guns/upgrades were really cool as well as the different boss AI. I didn't know the blue things were experience points until much later. I thought they were actually dangerous cause they were the same color as the wizard boss's lightning strikes. Good job!
Great enemy and weapon variety. The combat and level up system was also satisfying. There is a bug where sometimes you can't pick your levelup for some reason. But still awesome work!
A very fun entry. I like the "boss rush" concept. I think the enemies should get more difficult each time they appear to increase the challenge. Impressive what you managed to shoehorn in there in only 48 hours. The leveling up and the gun selection add to the fun-factor. Well done.
I liked the gun selection, and the game gets much easier when you have the right weapon. It's possible to leave too much experience on the ground, and I could only play until my finger got sore from shooting. Good entry, and nice job on the boss and gun variety!
Just a solid game! I like the variety in the enemies and guns, each with different attacks and ways to defeat them. Sound effects were very fitting and the music is good. Really nice job!
Great game! Took me a while to realize I could pick a new gun every level beacause I didn't see the pop up in the corner. You might want to make it stand out more if you make a post-compo version. I really liked the art/animations and the sound design! well done :)
Quite simple and very fun! Solid entry, congrats!
Oh my god the sounds. I actually laughed out loud at one point. The pink and purple gun was my favorite. I got to level 10 and quit because I stopped seeing new bosses and guns. Fun game, great humor :smile: Very thematic too with the bosses spawning every 10 seconds.
Some awkwardness with the control scheme on gamepad; it's a twin-stick shooter but I had to take my thumb off the right stick to jump, would've preferred it on one of the shoulder buttons maybe?
@arkinrev, @bridgeonastick, @lex thanks for playing! :smiley:
@linus-lindberg I agree, the popup needs to have more contrast; thanks for playing! :smile:
@googlypoo The sounds were my best try! :smile: All of my previous LDs have had barely any audio - if any, and I decided this time around, there never be silence! Also, I personally completely agree with your jump button suggestion. The only reason I changed it from the left trigger is because I figured that A would be more intuitive to others. Thanks for playing and rating!
Great use of the theme! I was impressed with how many weapons and enemy types there were! well done! :clap:
Also, the big blue guy reminds me of the king slim in Terarria! :smile_cat:
Really great game! I also didn't notice the weapons I could choose after leveling up for a while, but once I noticed I had a lot of fun trying out all the weapons. The art and sound effects were also great!
Yeah, sound effects are cool here. I think this game needs a double jump and health bar to be also drawn above characters head.
What a fun little game! I like that all the weapons had their own personality, and I especially love that the sound effects appear to have been made with love :smiley:
I played for around 5 or 6 minutes. I'm surprised you got so many weapon types and enemies with different behaviors into a compo game in such a short time! I also appreciated that most of the sound effects were just short voice clips. I would have loved to see a few of the weapons be a little bit more viable in terms of damage output, where one or two weapons were able to kill most bosses in around 6 seconds, while some of them just took way too long.
Overall, very good game!
The improvised sound effects are a bit hilarious, but I have to say it kinda works for the mood of the game (and is way better than not having sound at all). I also love the large variety of weapon types you put into this as it was fun to enumerate them all and find out what they did (personally, I love the nuke-rockets). The game overall was quite entertaining, so great job!
LOVE the sound effects! Great job with the variety of weapons and bosses. At one point I got myself in trouble by switching to a gun that was too slow to keep up with the spawn rate, it would have been nice if the weapons felt a bit more equal despite being different.
Super fun, funny sound effects! I think I played for longer than I was supposed to, ran out of weapons to pick from ahaha
This was a pretty fun game! I was able to get to level 15 and kill 85 bosses. I love the variety of items available, as well as the sound effects. Also, the experience points are fun--it's fun to try to collect them all at once, which is actually also strategically useful for getting health back in a controlled fashion.
The bosses and items are not particularly balanced, I think. The rocket launcher does seem to be the best weapon, with the only caveat being the dangerous self-damage effect. But it is able to kill the wizard and the red thing in 4 hits, which makes them very easy to kill.
In terms of bosses, the slime is much harder than the other two. I was able to generally avoid the other two's attacks almost all of the time, while it was much harder to avoid the slime's attack. And, as discussed, the other two would die in four hits, while the slime took more.
Now I actually think this balance difference made the game more interesting. I tended to think of the slimes as the real challenge, and the bosses in between as a nice calm period for farming some free experience. And then I also started to try to have some health in reserve for when the next slimes would show up.
One small thing: the gun icons when you level up seem to be a little glitchy. Several times the game gave me a gun that was not the one I had pressed, and sometimes pressing them didn't seem to do anything. Of course, this ceased to be a problem once I had unlocked all of the guns.
Overall, I really had a blast with this one. Good job!
