This game is AWESOME! The concept is cool enough (there's a real motivation of trying to figure out what everything actually looks like) and the gameplay feels so good. The player animations are so cute! Also, I won't spoil the ending, but I was like "there's no way this actually works" and uh... yeah you actually did that. Wonderful job.
My only real complaint is that some levels are a bit long to be restarting from the beginning- actually just the one with the combo lock. I realize this is kind of a skill issue but I noticed after using the ram for the level what I needed to do, and decided that restarting the entire level would be worse than just brute forcing the lock, haha. But maybe this is just a personal issue.
Really great job!

@lettas Ahah I'm glad you reached the end! Yes I agree with you, you should be able to retry a puzzle quickly. That's kind of a golden rule, I should keep it in mind while making levels. Thanks for playing!

Astonishing game. Runned through it in the single breath. The gameplay is catchy and simple to understand. The most difficult thing was get an idea of how to use RAM modules. But somewhere at the 4-th level I got it.
BTW, waiting for the Disk 2.

@brainles-etertainment Thanks for playing! Oh and, maybe the disk 2 already exists somewhere...

This is absolutely impressive ✨
The core gameplay is simple and satysfying, with a level design of very high quality for a compo game. Then the "missing textures" gameplay comes and adds a lot! At first it's just fun to discover more of the art and animations, and the more you progress the more it becomes important for the cool little puzzles.
Absolutely loved the disk2 ending, this makes the game go from a 5/5 to a 5.5/5 💾
Great job and thanks, I loved it!
Nice concept! Reminds me a bit of a game called Evoland, which had a similar "the game improves as you go" mechanic. The visuals - once I could see them - were neat! And that Mega Drive music was _funky._

Fun concept, great execution, great level design, simple, very much in theme, this is a straight perfect score from me! Well done!
So innovative, awesome job! I reached the end and still had one ram stick which makes me think I missed a texture somewhere, but nonetheless a very exciting and somewhat challenging game with clever use of sound to start it all off.

@john-gabriel Ah yes it has a little something of evoland in a way. Thanks for playing!
@stmate03 Thanks, I'm glad you liked it!
@checkyourgages Maybe the menu on the top right ? Thanks for the feedback!

The amount of work you put in the game is impressive. What's impress me even more is how "complete" are your skills. The level design is good, the visuals and audio are good. A real one man army! And cherry on the cake: a final twist. One thing I would suggest is to add a black outline to the text because at the beginning it can be white on white and you can't read it.

Awesome game, cool idea. I had a great time playing it
Genius interpretation of the theme. The untextured states were well done; the switch block's 0 and 1 states were distinct enough that I could still use them before I got their textures, but the enemies looked similar enough that I didn't know which blobs were going to shoot at me and which ones were only dangerous up close. Every texture load managed to be delightfully jarring; "oh *that's* what that thing looks like, I was imagining something completely different".
nice idea, nice graphics. An excellent metagame, perhaps in terms of gameplay it's not innovative but in two days you did an excellent job of finishing it!

@owlycode Thanks a lot! Actually I'm currently working on improving my audio skills. Yes I definitely should have done this, and it takes like 20sec so no excuses.
@sabasa I'm glad you did, thanks for playing!
@jacobwinters I'm glad you liked the concept. That's what I aimed to do with this so I'm happy to hear that it works as intended :)
@dhavavamba Yes, I went for a classic shooter gameplay as a simple way to explore the texture mechanic. I also considered doing a very simple platformer instead at the beginning. With more time, I would definitely add more ways for the texture mechanic to affect the shooter gameplay. Thanks for the feedback!
I love incremental games where we unlock parts of the game over time, and the final puzzle was cool, not enough games make us think outside the box! :D
Music and sounds are obviously the downside, but for a compo game it's already nice to have some!

Really good idea and well executed! I especially liked the part where I needed to actually load the textures of the menu, which was a twist I was not expecting
Overall a very good entry that takes the theme and interprets it like some other games I played also did, but made it actually a mechanic to enable not only the gameplay but also makes for some interesting puzzle elements!
Great stuff! I was a bit to trigger happy to get the code legit but otherwise it went fine . Polished graphics and audio and fun take on the theme. Nice ending too!

At first, the screen is completely white, and then the mysteries gradually unlock. What a challenging title! I like it. It's very interesting that even the options are completely white.
I was so happy when I reached disk2! Thank you for the wonderful game :)
So sick! If you don't mind me asking how does the whole "texture loading" mechanic work in code? This is one of the games I think I've had the most fun with. I like how we both had the idea of a computer running out of space, and yet went completely different directions with actually implementing it.

Pretty cool! One hit point seems a bit harsh, but at least the levels aren't too long.

@paul-maxime Congrats on figuring the end out! Yeah I'm working on improving my audio skills, also I did rush the sfx a bit cause I made too many of them probably (there are like 15 different or something). Should have focused on fewer, better ones I think. Thanks for the feedback!
@bumble I'm glad you liked it, thanks for playing!
@silkworm-sweatshop This level is lacking in level design, so it can becomes easier to just brute force it. Congrats on figuring the ending out!
@zundou Thanks for playing, I'm glad you got to the ending!
@masterofcheese Oh I've got to try your game out then. So for the texture loading, it's mostly shaders. All the shaders have 3 states: Full White (no alpha), Glowing purple-ish, and colored. Then I assign to every object a group (FX, Level, Player, Enemy0 etc.). When unlocking a texture, it triggers an event so all objects of this group update their material to the correct shader state. If you want more details, you can check the source code in Assets/Scripts/Game/RAMManger & RAMInteractable and Assets/Materials/SpriteRAM.shader.
@mao Yeah except the one with all the digits, where I added enemies everywhere for some reasons ahah. Thanks for the feedback!
Really cool concept, Good audio and nice feel for controls. I felt though that once hp was little too punishing.
Excellent game! I had a great time playing! A very creative spin on the concept, and I love it! Keep it up!
@yorsh That's awesome dude! I forgot that the source code is public lol.
one of my favourite games so far! of course, i liked puzzle level the most, but i also enjoyed the shooting part (and didn't even mind dying that much). awesome concept, awesome execution. [here's me playing it](https://tube.tchncs.de/w/hkGynPzBhUuUhD8LNwPYbi?start=17m39s)
This game is cool :sunglasses: The gameplay is tight and the choice over what gets revealed when you pick up the RAM wasn't something I'd seen before.
I got stuck on the puzzle level because I accidentally killed the friendly robot, because I had revealed something else already.

Great idea! A very unusual and original interpretation of the theme!
Fun and interesting take on the theme. Kind of weird to hide the artwork because it's really cute. I needed your tips to finish because some of the puzzles are somewhat abstract. Still, very fun play through, great job!
so coollll

The graphics, the music, the sound-effects, moving and shooting, everything feels polished already. Using items to step by step uncover the world (and UI) is a very cool and clever game mechanic. Had plenty of fun playing through the 8 levels. The final puzzle was a great idea! I take my hat off to you! 💜
Brilliant little game and an absolutely fab take on the theme. Felt challenging without being unfair and the whole thing was nicely cute. The one-hit kill could be a little brutal at points and I think if it were a bigger game it could get annoying, but at the same time it also felt like a good fit to the theme, so I really feel like I'm reaching for a criticism!

Awesome! I got to the 'true ending' but I wonder if there are any little secrets I've missed. I think the mechanic to obscure some textures has a lot of potential for hiding secret levels and secret characters. And you've used it very well!
I hit a friend once accidentally when clicking around in the settings (because when you click on checkboxes, shooting happens anyway), but other than that, the game feels very polished, I didn't encounter any issues.
I love the game! Great job!

@ismael-rodriguez I should probably have spent less time on pixel art and more time on playtesting, that would have made more sense ahah. Thanks for the feedback!
@zitronmommy @lee-martin-77 @noya Glad you liked it, thanks for playing!
@woona I had some secrets planned but it was the first things to get cut when time went short. For some reasons at the time of the jam I couldn't think of any easy way to disable shooting when clicking menues, although it's very easy...Congrats on reaching the end!
I've played "graphics upgrade" games before, but none had this puzzle element! The game is also a nice shooter, though I think the enemies come up very suddenly with the action zoomed in as it is. I accidentally killed the NPC at the end. I do think it's a pity you don't get to see all the sprites even after completing the game.
5⭐️ in Innovation & Theme. This is by far the most out of the box interpretation of the theme which I've played, thought in a true developer's way. The music was great as well with the ups and downs.
For the minor negatives, the camera could be made a bit faster since as soon as I entered a room, I was shot dead by some bots, so it takes little memorisation. Glad I don't have to restart the game every-time tho xD

@loveapplegames I could have added a little bit of a museum thing at the end with the different sprites. Well, with a little bit more time, but it's a neat idea. Thanks for the feedback!
@agrmayank I struggled a little bit with the camera in the end but ran out of time to make it better. Glad you liked my take on the theme. I figured a game jam would be the best time to go for something more developer oriented, as it's going to be played almost only by devs ahah. Thanks for playing!
A really fun little entry, loved the innovation in collecting the missing RAM and then using that as a resource to bring back the graphics and functionality. It gave me the feeling of a top down Doom, the gun felt punchy. Great jam!

Heh, it's a simple top down shooter at the base, but that idea with missing RAM and the ending on the disk 2 made it one of the best entries I've seen so far :D
This is a really clever idea! I like how you could sometimes die and respawn to make sense of what different objects were, had almost a clever puzzle element. Sound and music are good and graphics are cute, I like the main character and robot designs.
Agree that restarting from the beginning after getting hit once felt a little brutal on some levels. This is a super minor nitpick, but I wish there had been a key to press to restart rather than having to click a button (you can press R to die, but you still have to click `try_again()` -- I would have liked to be able to press space or something.)
Overall I really liked it and I played through to the end. :)
