LD53 — Delivery

Parcel Pursuit by bloodyaugust 2023-05-02T19:12:29Z

Absolutely gorgeous to look at, a genuine treat. Sometines a bit hard to tell where hitboxes/colliders are, but other than that, a fun little game!

Virus Load by soundgnome 2023-05-02T19:06:31Z

Really nice work! The styling and visuals are very on point, and it was really quick to get to grips with. I do think some more indication on how to avoid the immune system would help though.

Papi's Delivery Ops: Cardbark Infiltration by nox282 2023-05-01T14:38:41Z

Well done! It was cute, and I enjoyed the artwork and the style. I'd say the stealth mechanics weren't quite as tight as I'd like from a game like this - if it was longer, I think I'd have gotten frustrated.

Delivering Parcelman by ZwodahS 2023-05-01T13:38:01Z

Love the style, and love the puzzle involved. It feels really tightly made, and well focused. I can see where there would be room to really take this concept further. I think if there is a change I'd make, it'd be to make it clearer what is actually changing when a player goes up/down the gears, as while I can read the rules/numbers, there isn't much visual feedback on the difference it makes.

Thirty Minutes Or Less by Spice Cabinet 2023-05-02T18:59:46Z

Looks amazing, sounds amazing, really nailed the theme as well, well done! I found the gameplay a little repetitive, but the car/fps switch was a really nice touch.

Drone Delivery Service by jclardy 2023-05-01T14:29:09Z

Quite like this, well done! The mechanic reminds me of an older game I love called Hammerfight - worth checking out!

Pizza Xpress by PerfectSquare 2023-05-01T14:44:45Z

I actually really, really enjoyed this. The way the car handles feels a little janky at first, but what I like is that the game incentivises learning the street names, as well as getting used to the feel of the car, encouraging you to keep your foot down and get used to navigating the streets. The style is excellent, and it really hits getting into that flow state. Well done!

Only niggle is that I think left/right are going the wrong way when reversing - but I also don't want to reverse because it's slower, so it really is just a niggle.

Crystallium by MikoziQ 2023-05-01T14:48:16Z

Looks really, really good as other commenters have said!

BURNOUT by Wouter52 2023-05-06T10:19:30Z

Beautiful little game!

BURNOUT by Wouter52 2023-05-06T17:56:58Z

@wouter52 Of course! I would say that the dialog and pager felt a little bit clunky - it might be a deliberate choice though, as it does add to the feeling of frustration. The visuals are great, but it can be a little hard to pick out the distinctive attributes of the children/parents. I really like the way it's animated, and the whole thing feels smooth aside from the text UI - as others have said, the solution for entering the rooms is really novel and clever!

Dragon Dance Express by Astropower 2023-05-01T13:38:44Z

Also got a 404

Midnight Muffin Delivery Service by Tyler M 2023-05-06T11:27:08Z

This is genuinely brilliant, especially for a solo effort! The graphics are gorgeous, the game plays really well, it has a nice feeling of skill and learning to it! About the only thing I could think to try would to be give more indication of how powerful the shot is going to be (ie. a parabola), but I think that'd ultimately go against the feel of the game.

Fantastic!

Starhook Express by zSharpFire 2023-05-06T10:02:52Z

Always love mechanics that play with gravity, this was a lot of fun to play with! I might have spaced the planets out a little more and made it more around slingshotting around, but the core mechanic is great!

Couriers' Route by Roroto Sic 2023-05-07T18:27:41Z

I bounced off of this a little, I found I couldn't quite tell when I was clicking things or stamping things. It's also a little unclear what is going to happen when I interact. That said... I love the style of it, how it looks, and the feeling it has. It feels like a fantastic starting point that just needs a little bit of polish to make it more approachable.

Catnip Caper by ShatteredMindofBob 2023-05-01T14:20:43Z

I couldn't find the catnip, but I did find the cute easter egg about dumpster diving! Well done for finishing!

Rock Paper Scissors Inc. by Weston Goggins 2023-05-06T09:45:36Z

Really love that intro tutorial level! The whole game and mechanics are quite neat, the music was nice, and it looks great too!

COLD CHEDDAR by deadjolly 2023-05-06T11:35:49Z

Really strong classic GTA vibes from the look and feel! I really enjoyed the mechanics of the car once I got used to it, and the sounds were ace. I think the only things it could do with would be some more risk/pressure (maybe a time limit? Punishment for pizza going cold?), and I'd maybe have made it clearer the destinction between a pickup item and a delivery item.

The core mechanics are great though and this is a great skeleton you could build a whole game around!

Impatience Coffee Roasters by jacobwinters 2023-05-01T14:32:28Z

Love the humour and the theme. Not sure I could progress past 15-20 cups of coffee, but that initial hard ramp of diffculty mixed with the humour was super on point!

Have You Got a Moment? by Alex Knowles 2023-05-02T07:23:47Z

@theartifacts @emily-ttg @payaosito @swordfish @harmless-hawk @nox282

Thank you all so much for your feedback! I think the pacing is a off because we came into the jam with the intent of making a cozy, relaxing game - and it feels like we could have done one of two things:

- Added some extra mechanics: Some of the ideas we had were things like: a conversation/dialog tree with the tenants, some sort of decoration shop to allow you to decorate the office, varying and increasing numbers of people. Essentially, stuff to let the player "waste" time between tenants/deliveries. - Abandoned the cozy: As I think you've all pointed out, if it was a bit more frantic, it would be a decent more "traditional" game - maybe add a score and some sort of failure condition if, say, too many packages piled up for a given tenant.

Overall I'm happy with what we produced, but I think I've come away from this jam feeling like I/We left a little bit on the table - I think we're more used to 48 hour jams, and I know I personally was just *done* on the third day.

Parcel Control by Vitaslayer 2023-05-04T20:59:54Z

Really strong papers please vibes! I liked it, the art style was especially strong!

Micromanager by ZombieWalrus 2023-05-06T10:46:19Z

Love the little references to the jam life, especially the hearts. I found the drone a little hard to control - I seemed to sometimes be able to hold arrows down to quickly duck down alleys, and sometimes it wouldn't work. I also think the elements were a little too small for my taste. That said, it looks really nice, it played well, and I liked the upgrade system - the UI especially looked great!

LD54 — Limited Space

Zombies In The Hall by recursor 2023-10-03T20:46:51Z

Really enjoyed this, I feel like that song is going to be in my head for a while! My only frustrations were that it felt like zombies got a little too "stuck" on the uncloging the pipe level, and honestly that it ended too soon! I'd be interested in seeing more levels that combined more of the mechanics together!

Towersprawl by 5Mixer 2023-10-03T11:44:43Z

Really nice set of systems, the way everything just clicks together is highly satisfying and it doesn't take long to figure out what it's doing. I sort of agree with the above comment that the theme is missed slightly for me, beyond that it's hard to initially make sure you've got enough space - with more systems involved it could feel cramped quickly though. Looks really nice though!

Tunnel Tiler by cogcomp 2023-10-03T20:40:17Z

Found it a bit hard to figure out what was going on to start with - I'd probably have gone for a cleaner visual style, but very evocative of that 90's screensaver aesthetic! Felt nice once I figured it out though, my main wish was for a "speedup" button to let me get ahead of competitors!

Trash Truck Hero by Nikolaj 2023-10-03T07:58:49Z

This was a really neat little concept! I definitely smashed into half the cars and was sending trashcans everywhere, so an accurate representation of my local waste services.

If I were to change anything I'd probably actually have made the roads a little bit more organic/twisty, but then that's more where the concept would go than where it is!

MemGuard Tower Defence by Zaphire 2023-10-09T14:21:13Z

I found that because it took quite a while to get enough resources to power more than one turret, I was really struggling with keeping my base from being hit, which then compounded the problem. I also felt like the turrets missed more than they hit!

The visuals and audio were great though, and it feels like with a bit more tuning of the mechanics this would be a really solid little tower defense game with a fun gimmick!

Dozer Dash by IDidGame 2023-10-07T09:07:21Z

Very cute little game, I really enjoyed the audio. I found the hitboxes between the dozer and the boxes a little frustrating - I struggled to get higher than mid-80's (I think my top was 86). But well placed and fits the theme well!

Negative Space by Baturinsky 2023-10-03T08:11:56Z

Nicely abstract puzzler, I enjoyed the pieces that caused real problems by not having all squares filled. I agree it might be slightly too easy as I felt I didn't have to think "too" hard about how I stacked my items.

The Dude with a Wolf, a Goat and a Cabbage ~ A modern interpretation by CaptainDreamcast 2023-10-03T20:52:57Z

Massive props for the voiceover on all of this, made it really quite fun to just go through and hear the jokes!

textures_failed_to_load by Yorsh 2023-10-06T19:27:50Z

Brilliant little game and an absolutely fab take on the theme. Felt challenging without being unfair and the whole thing was nicely cute. The one-hit kill could be a little brutal at points and I think if it were a bigger game it could get annoying, but at the same time it also felt like a good fit to the theme, so I really feel like I'm reaching for a criticism!

Rush Hour by benskca 2023-10-04T20:34:54Z

I loved this. Really on point with the theme, it looked great, played really well, and felt really nice, and just a nice bit of humour!

The only feedback I can think to give is it was a little too easy - I think a few more "pinch" points and extra people/the ability to be misled by the crowd would probably do a lot, but as a jam game I can absolutely see the potential of the theme!

Crampy Kitchen by BisnessPirate 2023-10-03T08:06:44Z

I found it quite hard to drag ingredients around - I probably would have made the hitboxes a little more generous for moving stuff around (maybe even remove hitbox entirely while an object is "in hand"?) The art was cute though!

Limited Space Escape Rooms by AlbionBrown 2023-10-03T20:26:55Z

Really nice work for your first time with the engine - I found the controls a little clunky, but didn't seem to run into any game breaking bugs!

Limited Survival by LudumDareDevil 2023-10-06T22:46:31Z

Really really nice gameplay loop, and runs beautifully - I feel like I could have done with a better indicator of how much damage I was taking from enemies but I quite liked the minimal style, and the sound effects fit really well.

Space Way by MrSamafu 2023-10-03T21:02:47Z

Loved the graphics and the soothing music for this. I did find myself starting to cheese it a little after the "a new thing" stage and realsing I could just go back/forth a lot in order to fill up the tiles, but it still felt pretty slick!

Limited Space Rescue by SharpLoaded 2023-10-07T09:01:31Z

The audio, mood and styling were great, and I've always loved freefall/space movement mechanics, I really enjoyed this! It was a bit unclear why people were dying, and I think a little more could have been done within the theme (I'd assume you were thinking of a rescue ship with limited space at some point?), but this was really slick and well done!

PSI by goddzeproject 2023-10-03T11:55:34Z

I'd agree with the above about movement being a little awkward, however the aesthetic was nice, and it felt like there was scope to make something quite fun from this

Loss Of Signal by Lee Martin 77 2023-10-03T07:53:50Z

@nikolaj I was having terrible trouble with the parallax backgrounds, which is what this sounds like! Thanks for letting me know!

Loss Of Signal by Lee Martin 77 2023-10-03T21:05:09Z

@nardandas thanks so much for the feedback, and that's a good score! Initially I had planned to make it mobile-friendly, hence the screen ratio, but biffed it with the UI and knew trying to fix it would have broken everything, so I just rolled with it!

@stefan-b I'm almost certain the "optimum" path for some of the levels is to just ignore the filament and gun for the exit :joy:

Loss Of Signal by Lee Martin 77 2023-10-04T20:09:53Z

@quasilyte Wow, that's some great feedback! You're absolutely right across the board. I had thought about making some music, but I've never done it before, and if I'm honest I just bottled it when I was sat with LMMS open in front of me - next jam for sure! The whole weird aspect ratio is that my intent was to be "mobile first" but I realised too late that I'd properly messed up the way I'd implemented the UI, so just had to roll with a fixed aspect!

I'd say the overcomplicated UI was part of my intended aesthetic, but it could do with better explanations if I'm going that route. I'd initially thought about implementing a small tutorial but opted for going for content on this one!

@ttkayttis I definitely think there is some fun to be had with fine tuning the numbers under the hood to make it tighter/more satisfying, but I'm happy with where it landed!

TOBISHA by aerial 2023-10-06T19:41:20Z

Really nice effects and definitely really nice audio - gave me a very exopunks vibe! I kind of wish there was more to do with the money that you earn, but given this is a compo entry it's still impressive!

Cosmic Caster by Whysper 2023-10-09T14:34:35Z

Really cool idea for a game, and a very different take on the classic space shooter! The drawing of the spells was a listtle confusing as I was initially trying to make the shapes, rather than the letters - but I got there in the end! The sound and visuals were really neat.

Space Ltd. by mortusnegati 2023-10-03T11:50:01Z

Loved this, really enjoyed it all the way through. I liked how the mechanics were introduced and there was a nice feeling of progression. It ended a little abruptly but also that final level was the trickiest by far! Looked real nice too!

Kill Circles by Rehdev 2023-10-06T22:52:19Z

Really, really slick little game. I got to 1667 kills, at which point I was basically just a little catherine wheel spewing bullets!

There was this really nice point around half way through where it was just frantic enough you couldn't just shoot the next thing, but also your bullets didn't instapop bubbles - it felt like I had to pay attention to where bubbles were going to spawn and make sure I kept that area clear. I reckon if you were to dig into that feeling, you could make something really special with this.

And the sounds were deeply satisfying

CaveBots by quasilyte 2023-10-04T20:19:35Z

Really nice looking game, and it played pretty well! I found it a little hard to get my head around what I was doing at the start - it took me a little while to figure out I had to build a factory to then build the bots for example. But once I got the loop down, I found it quite simple to keep myself going!
