I think this plays really well! The physics are just controllable enough that it feels right, without being too rigid. I like how bumping into tress cuts them down! The sound effects are great and really immersive

Your score: -130
It's fun. The whirring sound in the background was kind of jarring as it would cut in and out as you started and stopped moving. I liked the concept though and other then the one issue the audio was great.
@ackbad thanks! the whirring sound is a different idle i got from another clip.. i guess i should have stuck with the audio i recorded in my car (the main driving sound)!
Driving a garbage truck is hard! I eventually figured it out but sometimes the cans would slip out of my claw anyway. It's an interesting challenge though, and a good theme for a game! I found the camera flipping when backing up pretty disorienting - I usually wanted to just reposition slightly, so a consistent camera would be helpful.
@rose thanks for the feedback! There is a mouselook option that lets you have control over the camera. I couldn't decide between auto-adjusting the camera and having the person figure out how to use the mouse..
This was a really neat little concept! I definitely smashed into half the cars and was sending trashcans everywhere, so an accurate representation of my local waste services.
If I were to change anything I'd probably actually have made the roads a little bit more organic/twisty, but then that's more where the concept would go than where it is!
The driving felt very smooth and I really like the idea. With more polish, proper graphics and different levels this could turn into a really fun game!
I really liked the way the garbage collection worked. It took quite some time to get anything at first but I gradually got a lot better at it. Great fun! Well done!
It's fun playing around with the grabber physics, thanks for making. Not sure I'll recover from this one though:

-200.lol
I will start with the positive: there is some car I didn't touch ^^.
I got 214 points the second run.
This is a very fun game, graphisms are pretty cute, that's crazy what it's possible to do with cubes ! The polishing in the game is good, fixed camera view work pretty well (I forgot to activate the mouse lock before my 3rd run, but I took too much confidence so I made a terrible score) and I liked the detail of the trash lid that show if you have already empty the can. I got some minor bugs in scoring count but it didn't bother me during the play.
And I forgot, you handled AZERTY keyboard that's cool :).
I think you should put the sound in opt-out instead of opt-in, at first I belived there was a bug and people could think there is no sound.
Congratulations for the entry !
-80 points, there was limited space, fun little game! I like the sound effects/music and wonky physics. I prefered the mouse-look camera. Great entry!
Made it with no mistakes on my 3rd try! Applause on the complex trash pickup physics interaction, it actually worked!
I saw your progress gifs several times during the Jam, I bet you were having a lot of fun! I managed to get 40 points, it's hard to believe driving a garbage truck could be so tricky! I love your use of physics in the game! Good Job!
Great game idea. It would have been super cool to steer the pickup arm myself. Great game.
I couldn't resist and ran over everything I saw in front of me.
Cool game! :stars: BTW how did you get Godot to run in HTML? Mine just refuses to work (Godot 4 that is)...
i like this mechanism
I picked up all the waste, but at what cost.. Noone will be able to drive to work tommorow.
Really nice game, the grabber is well implemented and It's a fun little game - I can imagine this would work well with procedual streets and some time pressure
Interesting idea. Too bad you didnt have the time for better graphics. I often got negative points while lifting the trash cans for no obvious reason while not getting positive points for emptying them, seems thats a little bugged. There is potential for the idea though!
Never knew collecting trashes was that hard! It's a fun game. Graphics is simple, but works.
I like the camera and controls. Simple but nice game.
GarbageTruck.png Help me step bro, i'm stuck !
Quite fun game, but I think i'm better at crushing cars than collecting garbage tho
The game was very fun because for some reason I was doing dumb things with my garbage vehicle. I believe no matter what game you are playing, when you are driving it instantly becomes GTA. Not to mention that my best score was something like -350 ! Nice try! Keep up!
I like when bin lid flips up :3 The automatic camera angles was an interesting idea but it seemed a bit temperamental, I would have preferred to just control the camera so it's good you added that option.
As we say in french: "j'ai mi la cabane sur le chien". Very fun to play! It's normal to finish with a negative score?
I love the look you achieved just using Godot graphic primitives. The physics are well acomplished as well. Really fun. I now understand why garbage containers in my city are so messed around
Got -90 lol. The game controls are simple and smooth. I hope it doesn't turn the viewpoint too often when backing up, or give a setting that doesn't turn the viewpoint. Sorry, I'm a bit dizzy for 3D. https://ldj.am/$374960! Try this if you like puzzle gameđź’—:)
I do not think I am cut out to be a garbage truck driver, at least I do not think so after playing this game. A fun little entry, well done!
