addicting, good use of achievements
This was a neat concept but needs some work. It would had been nice if the player and enemies were animated at least to some extent. But I really enjoyed the title theme you made for the game! The achievements were a nice touch to the game as well. Overall nice work!
Simple but effective game, seems pretty feature complete with plenty of content!
Really cool! It's amazing that you even have achievements in the game. I played a couple of times, didn't unlock everything. The sound/music was a bit repetitive.
Almost killed the phoenix! Nice achievements, got 300 steps one
I had fun playing this. It took me a while to figure out that the different weapons were for different speeds/power levels, so if that were in the instructions that would've been helpful. I would like to have more feedback when I hit an enemy/get hit, or at least a health bar for the enemy and something other than small text in the top left that's telling me how much life I have left, since I found myself focusing on the enemies and hoping that I had enough health to make it past the wave. But this is a really solid concept.
The achievements were cool, something I haven't seen yet. The concept fit the theme and the game was fun enough for me to play a few times. It would have been cool if there was an animation, sound effect or particle effect when a creature was hit.
Fun game! Nice job on adding achievements, and the aging effect was noticeable, even though I spent more time with my eyes on the bad guys. I never read the hints but I'm guessing the different weapons had an inverse relationship between speed & strength. At first I thought I had to shoot monsters with a different colour than their own.
A neat thing you could add (and maybe it's there but I never survived long enough to see) would be small barriers that appear in the level you can hide behind but get destroyed after being hit by enough shots from the player and/or the enemies.
Fun game! The achievements were a nice touch that I definitely wasn't expecting for a jam game. I think the biggest thing missing is some kind of feedback when you get hit. Overall great job!
@claytonrumley Yea, I completely forgot to mention what weapons do. The only effect they have is their speed and strength, meaning that the sniper one ends up being best in most cases. That said, when going for all achievements you'll probably use all 3 weapons at some point.
Thanks for the game
Nice game! It's a nice interpretation of the theme and the game is fun to play. You even included achievements!!
If I were to say something to improve, some kind of feedback on hit would be nice. To be honest, I spent most of my time with my eyes on the enemies and I wasn't fully aware when I was getting hit.
Although it's an enjoyable spin on a somewhat generic concept, I think you spent a bit too much time focusing on the menu and such as opposed to the actual game itself. Personally I found the core gameplay to be a bit too simplistic for my taste, lacking good game feel like visual feedback/hit indicators and sound effects. That said it's a compo game so I suppose the shortcomings are still somewhat acceptable :D
As I mentioned earlier though, I did enjoy playing it, and think that with a bit of polish and some content expansions it could be a really fun game. Good job!
@bar0net @arihan10 I agree, I totally forgot to add hit effects on enemies and on the player. The menu was mostly afterthoughts, but I did focus more on it since my last game was mostly lacking in UI. Guess I overcompensated. The achivements are also really the main mechanic, I spent most of the time on them and there are a fair bit to collect. Has anyone managed to get them all yet?
Wow, you implemented a ton of achievements. It was pretty cool to see the different types of monsters. My score was 134, wave 13, 155.5 seconds. The second time I played I couldn't see my score because I clicked it away before I saw it :(. Still it was a lot of fun. I wish I had more weapons and upgrades so I could wreak more havoc. Still, really cute characters and art. Thank you for the game.
Nice idea with a thoughtful achievement list. More player UI and feedback I think was needed for the main game though. Good submission.
Didn't get all the achievements, but I got close! It was fun and the achievements gave me a reason to keep playing as long as I did. A few suggestions would be make where the big guys spawn look different so I can get a pre-emptive shot in and some feedback when getting hit would be good too.
No idea what the last ones were, but I think I was one short of getting the final clue. Best score was wave 19, ~197 seconds.
@raphiell one was for wave 20 lol, that's a really good score though
The music is a bit of a grind and the graphics don't mesh very well with each other. Great game though! I had a lot of fun and that's the important thing. I love the green gun. I think it would be great to be able to balance more the power of the weapons. Nice game, seriously!
Really cool and complete game for a compo entry! Good job! :)
Nice submission overall! The graphics seemed a bit basic and the sound got a bit repetitive, but it was an engaging game and I didn't notice any bugs. I also liked the acheivement system!
@milq what balance issues did you find? all weapons seem viable, though when your aim is good the green one is sorta useless.
@dkmk100, yep, the green one. That is, the green is unbalanced but not the rest. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding!
