LD39 — Running out of Power

The Singularity Wars by dollarone 2017-08-02T20:41:05Z

I played against myself. There are some interesting mechanics. There is the classic chess choice of taking the center (i.e. taking control of neutral factories to gain an edge), vs counter-attack on the side (i.e rush to the adversary). I didn't managed to launch bombs with the annihilator. There is a Civilization feel to it, but with units that must work together. There is probably a way to make it a nice tactical-strategy game. It still needs a lot of work and play-through to adjust balance but there is potential. Probably adding more factories and bigger map can make the game even more fun.

Pipe Trek by quill18 2017-07-31T13:29:08Z

Quite confusing graphically even with the instructions (I didn't watch your stream). The "exit" button doesn't seem to work (web version). Once I grasped the concept it seemed interesting but the combat mechanics, as far as I understood, just resume to have all your lights green and fix the torpedo shuffling problems as fast as possible without mis-clicking (played on a trackpad) (it screws you a lot). The audio is very repetitive and adds to the ambient tension installed by the stressful beginning where all lights are off. I enjoyed the star-trek references. Overall OK, but far from your best games.

Last Job by ALeal_Dev 2017-08-08T11:13:01Z

Nice little game. There is a little inertia in the gnome which make it rather hard to control. I enjoyed the fact that it's not an insta-death but you can recover from it. Nice sound effect. Overall good.

Inefficient Plasma Weapon by schizoid2k 2017-08-10T10:36:36Z

Very cool game. Very interesting mechanic. It requires some planning, and thinking ahead. The constant beeping is not annoying for the player, but may disturb people in the same room. I'll probably train an AI on this when I'll have some spare time and cycles, just to see the strategic depth of this game when you got perfect movement control and anticipation. Simple yet effective. Well done!

Elemental Conflict by dankar 2017-08-04T22:27:49Z

Cool game. Reminded me of Pokemon. The user interface needs some smoothing as plenty of times you need 2 clicks to do an action. Could have used some sound effect. Overall OK.

Noane's walk by sebbernery 2017-08-19T08:59:38Z

The game crashed on my first go. I managed to die of thirst after 13km on my second go. The audio sound effect whistle/ little singing is so bad (interrupted by coughing :) ) it becomes good/funny. It's kind of the same as those Z-movies like Sharknado 6.

Avalon by chaoseed 2017-08-19T14:04:05Z

Unfinished. I didn't see what was your intended mechanic, nor the link with the theme. Try making a post-mortem so that next time you finish the game. The graphic and user interface are nice.

Fade by glimaleite 2017-08-06T13:54:38Z

Nice ambiance. Doesn't forgive mis-clicks, but that's OK because we don't have to restart from the start. Cool audio. Is there a story behind the story ? Well done.

A Developer's Nightmare by testudor 2017-08-02T19:55:18Z

I played the webgl version. Tried for 5 minutes but couldn't reach the second puzzle. I found it very hard to control the platform part. The same first puzzle adds a lot to frustration when you have to do it 15 times to try to do a jump just to get hit by a "glitch". I liked the pixel art, and animation for the chains though. You tried an innovative format (mixing platform and puzzle) but didn't solved it with playability in mind.

Grand Theft Battery by hnzlmnn 2017-08-03T16:45:39Z

Nice pixel art. Movement is too slow (I used Firefox). I stole a few batteries and got into a fight. Reminds me of old game-boy games.

Last survivor by Hadik 2017-08-08T10:57:48Z

Nice game. I played the web version, it seems to be buggy as I couldn't buy any updates. Even though I had the wood and stones, full health, full food, and full fire to buy them it still showed "locked". I played for 5 minutes, and it still stayed locked.

BUG SQUASHER 9000 by alwaysinbeta 2017-08-10T10:49:30Z

I was utterly disappointed when I realized the mechanic was not about squashing bugs but only shooting them. You probably should replace the gun by a sticky gun so you can roll over them nicely. Apart from that, the game is overall OK. I enjoyed the sound effect and graphic. Found the rotation control a little imprecise. Quite classic, correct execution. Congrats on your almost compo game.

Archetype - Running Out of Power by cakemonitor 2017-08-01T23:05:34Z

Couldn't move in webgl, almost gave up but then saw your comment above and then I could move (I had successfully activated the copper sphere before but then tried to use the the game pad instead of WASD). Played solo but the fun is probably in coop. Interesting mechanic. Nice audio.

The Phototroph by foolmoron 2017-08-05T15:10:22Z

Visually pleasing. The audio is nice. This isn't really a game. Made me feel really nauseous (Too much spinning).

Power Stationed by ReboundGames 2017-07-31T13:45:55Z

Good work. Fun little game to train multitasking. Animation is fluid even the transition to new power sources.

VIS by Hackingroelz 2017-08-04T18:48:00Z

I won. Yet I didn't found a self sustaining solution (Is there really one ?) because of the (random) explosions of the solem collectors which as far as I understood are required to produce energy, and I had to build some more to reach the endgame. The hex grid doesn't fill to have a significant impact strategy wise. Decent strategy game specially for a first try. I like the music.

Circlebots Share by belser 2017-08-03T17:06:42Z

Nice introduction to programming. Not quite sure that aiming for maximum complexity is something to thrive for though :) Instead you should facilitate usage of symmetry and modularity (like rotating a sequence).

Battery Box by mrnannings 2017-08-04T22:39:13Z

I really liked the way the roomba moves. It feels robotic and smooth. Well done! Quite repetitive. Nice music, but could have used additional sound effects. Overall good.

Star Power by Simon Millard 2017-08-04T19:14:38Z

Nice concept. Initially I though it would be a comet busters look-alike but was agreeably surprised. Really fun. Strategically interesting. It seems it damps energy and slows down (My plan was to shoot ahead and fly forward shooting my way through but the damn ship was stopped after 4 turn, crushing my strategy :( ). There is a lot of randomness, and I'm not sure it's balanced enough to give the player a chance. You probably should add a discard card option at a reduce cost because when you have 2 or 3 10-cost repair cards you are not well engaged. It's a little to slow to play (I would probably allow to chose card for the next turn while simulation is running and have the simulation always on) and be funny for a long time. Good work, but there is still a lot of potential.

Defend Home: Mars by sgt3v 2017-08-01T23:16:51Z

Please capture the mouse inside the control, otherwise it is not playable in Webgl. Impressive graphically and audio for 48h. It even have explosions :) . Nice work. Simple but effective. It would probably be fun in multiplayer mode defending the base with friends.

Flying Aces - Going the distance! by jotson 2017-08-05T15:19:09Z

Visually OK. simpler than flappy bird. Probably adding altitude (and ground) and some storms in those dark cloud could have make the game much more interesting. Overall Well done.

Robit Needs Love by domrein 2017-07-31T07:43:16Z

Doesn't work on Firefox : "TypeError: Pxl.Beacon is not a constructor". Works with Chrome. This game is not very fun but surprisingly addictive. I could only clear the lower 20% of the screen but it was enough to keep going to 500 points. It would be better if there was an incentive (maybe speed booster on the raising-lowering of the neck) to go higher because that's where your main mechanic reside. The audio really feels like a coin machine. Overall well done.

No Sorcerer's Sky by TheFlyingKeyboard 2017-08-02T20:15:21Z

The UI seems broken. After a few unwanted restart due to not understanding you have to press escape to get out of build mode. The z-order of the catching of clicks is wrong (when I try to stop an asteroid it opens the build interface. You probably should always show what your current resources are. And highlight possible acquisitions. Nice graphics and audio. Sadly the poor UI got in the way of a promising story. Overall OK.

GN49 by Abdullah Sulayfani 2017-08-19T12:47:59Z

The web-link works for me. The game gave me nausea. Probably because of the unusual camera positioning and movement control. Nice graphic, and audio effects. Well done for 72h.

Artifact Dive by AdroitConceptions 2017-08-04T18:19:43Z

Nice little game. You made me jump when the bad guy suddenly jump on me. Cool audio. A little repetitive. For international users please use arrows instead of / in addition to AWSD. Good work.

ROOP (Running Out Of Power) by Spetsdod 2017-07-31T21:38:15Z

It reminded me of comet busters. But your version has star-ships which tracks you. I played the web version, and I found it quite hard to control (maybe that's the known issue you refer). I found strange the behaviour of aliens not to follow you through the edge of the world. Overall quite fun. Well done!

Downpour by LuckyFeathers 2017-08-19T08:17:19Z

This game is beautiful visually. The audio is great too. Nice mood and atmosphere.

Plug Me by hav24 2017-08-09T12:58:43Z

Nice platform game. Interesting take on timing. Got to level 7 pretty easily but couldn't manage to get past it. It seems to miss double jump (or I didn't succeed in doing them reliably). It was pretty addictive till I got stuck then it turned to frustration (amplified by the looped audio and initial movement causing insta-death) and rage quit to never touch your game again. Not very fun but addictive. It has some potential for mobile. Though you must absolutely make sure people don't get stuck for more than 10 times. And absolutely make sure it's not a control issue. For a better flow, you probably should put the end platform just after the progress bar (not above) so you don't have to jump to it but can run to it. Maybe you can also add a mana bar with some special effects (like time slowing).

Mech by widdershinscrustacean 2017-08-04T23:08:42Z

Nice text adventure game. I'm not a fan of the genre so it was quite refreshing to me. I enjoyed the mechanic. I won but the story seemed pretty linear though.

Long Live The Pig by CTTFOW 2017-08-09T13:32:42Z

Reminded me of democracy. Unfortunately you don't compare favourably. It took me my first whole campaign to understand how to raise money. (You need to do nothing else on this day). It's explained in the help. But nobody reads help section nowadays. Then I insta-lost for fund-raising 2 times in a row. The 7 days campaign are way to short for any long term strategy. It has some potential but still needs a lot of work. Nice graphic. Nice sound-effect.

Ultimate Fusion by Thirrash 2017-08-03T16:17:36Z

I didn't figure out how to use the building to have a noticeable effect and building keeps disappearing. Probably you need to confine them to produce fusion but as I have set number of atoms to the max, I already had plenty of fusion happening. Nice audio and animations. Not very fun to play but audio make it pleasant to watch.

Get Rich Efficiently by CobaltRisen 2017-08-18T17:42:26Z

Nice game. It needs some time to get into it though (I had to read your tutorial). A factorio variant. There is also a lot of waiting at the start (Specially when switching tab stop the clock :( ). Overall OK. You have the basis to build upon. Keep building :)

Get Rich Efficiently by CobaltRisen 2017-08-18T18:28:24Z

Commenting again after more play. The game runs slower and consume 100% cpu as your base get bigger. This shouldn't happen. There is no excuse for a game this small to be CPU-bounded (unless ugly code). It would be great if we could select which factories we power at night.

Get Rich Efficiently by CobaltRisen 2017-08-18T23:06:55Z

SPOILER Warning. The more I play the richer I find the game. Nice balance. I won (All gold mines always producing, gold always sold, stable coal, no solar panel used). The trick is that some efficiency is lost due to a "bug" when temperature is > 100C then you need 5 burners instead of 4 to get the next steam engine to produce. Which means that all steam engines should be disconnected from one another. It could really help if there was a display of whether or not a factory is connected to electricity and producing. The game is quite rich conceptually. It has some non linear behaviour when you run out of coal (which is great to illustrate complex systems failures), because then all burners shut down and it don't know how to reboot any steam engine because it keep the water at 80C everywhere rather than having one at 100C. I encountered a bug, when I lost all my coal, it also lost all my accumulated gold. You should consider not rerendering the whole frame at every tick because it makes the game slow (reducing window size speeds the game by a factor 10).

The Last Question by xaedes 2017-08-19T08:48:16Z

42 :) I know the answer for I've read the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy. Nice mood, nice audio. Not a game.

Baby Space Saucer by Drew1888 2017-08-02T19:29:52Z

I liked the audio effects. You probably could hide the commands order after a few seconds to make it a nice memory game. Quite easy to understand. Overall OK.

Battery Low by Freedom Is Slavery 2017-08-01T23:32:15Z

Reminded me of real life :) Cool game.

A dark time by eduardogrdev 2017-08-19T14:26:33Z

There seems to be a lot of randomness involved. Nice audio effects and music. Ok graphic. I played a few times but find it hard to find items and run away from the zombies (The golden rule with Zombies is numerous but slow and stupid). The web version seems sluggish. Adding obstacles/useful items could transform it into a fun survival game. In the style of Zombieland movie. I didn't even had to double tap.

Broken Shuttle by Nyri0 2017-08-01T22:41:15Z

Nice graphics. Don't know if it's intended but on a track-pad, we can't click left and right simultaneously and have both engines up at the same time to go straight. I think the game would be fun even without the power restriction if you add more planets, sort of a gravitational maze.

Peak Oil by frostdragonliz 2017-07-31T14:47:37Z

Promising game. It has a few graphics bug (un-clickable controls for wells in siberia, bad z-ordering on a few things, special events not showing). The game should have probably a leaderboard to give some sense of whether or not you have done well.

City Power by ChrissiQ 2017-07-31T21:17:45Z

Nice audio. The frame rate seems to be dropping the bigger the circle gets.

Scale of Life by ilya_kozlov 2017-08-09T13:13:04Z

Nice uplifting mood. Nice graphics. It's a very relaxing game. I really don't understand why you limited it to twelve rounds. Well done.

Power Cores by Ray 2017-08-02T20:54:44Z

An original variation on a classic game, correct execution, sound worked in the webgl.

Enter the dark tunnel by Mvdvelden 2017-07-31T21:55:24Z

Nice zombie sounds. Nice pixel art but I didn't understand what each upgrade does, and what all the icons represents. Overall OK.

電源 (dengen) by hndmrsh 2017-08-19T11:48:58Z

Nice strategy game. I Played against myself. It would be interesting to know using an AI, it there are any trivial winning strategies.

The Book Of Dawn by SophistiCat Games 2017-08-03T16:31:51Z

As more and more messages arrives, new good messages will stay invisible. Nice golden book. I enjoyed the music.

Crazy-Power-Rush by Zachary Shah 2017-08-01T22:13:52Z

Cool game ! A classic, but fun none the less. Impressive for a 12 years old. Some little things to improve : two digits for seconds (ex : 0:05 instead of 0:5). Usually game in this genre make sure there is no regular clicking which can get you through the game eyes closed. Then add sound and a little variety and speed, and you get a classic addictive game. You already have the automatic restart which is good to keep the player in the game. But you can be more effective in getting the player hooked by adding a 3 - 2 - 1 timer before restarting, it breaks the rhythm, and increase frustration a lot if the player crash rapidly. Keep experimenting, learn a little marketing and have fun.

Clickity by Ellis Spice 2017-08-02T22:29:59Z

Very funny. Well balanced. I enjoyed the transition from the manual to automatic when the player understood how to use more productive cycles. There is also the nice exponential growth when you successfully build your little system. Yet the equilibrium remains unstable and the whole system can crash in an instant if you don't understand how and where to click. Giving the rules is necessary to understand because images, although nice, are not sufficient. Well done.

Her Final Words by Eliana 2017-08-19T13:53:37Z

Nice mood though sad. Not a game (not enough interaction). Rather a well timed animated dialogue. Music would probably add a lot.

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Reroute Reboot by OddballDave 2017-12-22T01:02:43Z

Very fun game. Interface is overloaded particularly the vertical bars which connect town to corresponding port. The AI strategy is not very good (but it's kind of good otherwise it would crush any human rapidly). The text is unreadable on the switch. This is a simulation quite useful to understand influence in the context of networks. It reminded me of dns cache poisoning. What is fun is to watch your clueless opponents getting slowly overcome by an unstoppable wave of reinforcements once you grabbed a few main frames.

To turn it into a business, it can be adapted to model accurately how you can change the opinion of people by turning a few key influencers via their friends on the social graph with ads or specially bot crafted ideas, then once converted they will convince their sheep audience. Then you show your technology to a few lobbyist/brand and show how it can help them at reduced cost achieve their agenda/improve branding.

Virus Eater Peter by Nathan 2017-12-07T21:14:35Z

Kind of an asteroid game, where you gain some power over time. It ramps up nicely. Audio and graphics are good. Nice work.

Snowmans Dilemma by JCMonkey 2017-12-04T21:15:01Z

Fun little game. Could use some power ups and place to pause. After playing 9 levels I found it a little repetitive and it would gain from additional mechanic. Sometimes levels can't be beaten unless you have seen them at least once before. Overall good game. Difficulty is not to hard and not too easy (Well done). Ok audio.

Kritter Keeper by Archimagus 2017-12-07T21:02:56Z

They are really cute. Well done. Reminded me of the tamagochis. The game is rather slow but ramps up. You should add interactions between the kritters.

Not candy crush by eptwalabha 2017-12-07T21:20:12Z

Did you know about the parable of the polygons? Nice version of it as a puzzle.

EPIC Racing by MrChippy 2017-12-04T23:55:16Z

Nice explosion effect (art and sound). I liked the fact that the audio stops for one second when you pick-up a disk. The game looks promising but there are still a lot of bugs in the collision detection (or is it a 3d-pseudo perspective effect) with the moving obstacles. Also the car is too small to see properly where it's going even more with flashy background colors. Controls have too much inertia. I don't understand your take of the theme, is it just making it more and more unbearable as you pick up some disc? Sorry for being harsh.

ICE RINK RALLY by japes 2017-12-20T18:31:53Z

Fun. Keyboard controls are not great. You should add an online multiplayer game. You probably should have some skaters go the opposite directions. And add a little IA for their movements as most were not moving a lot.

Samurai Shaver by DDRKirbyISQ 2017-12-20T18:23:32Z

Nice art and audio. Quite repetitive. I didn't see the increase of difficulty between levels. The hard part is getting the first cut right. Far easier than DDR. Overall OK.

Dodge X by cogcomp 2017-12-06T21:48:35Z

Nice graphic and music though I had to run it on my GTX1080ti computer where I got 60fps no problem, maybe fullscreen would have give it some troubles. Controls and gameplay aren't very funny. Kudos for distance field rendering, this is cool (I played with them too). I didn't know about webstorm (using vscode) will check-it out as I'm a resharper fan.

Asteroids Attack by Kutase 2017-12-06T22:17:52Z

When I'll drive a space ship in a few years time, this game will help me remember not to overload it because then piloting it is impossible :) Quite funny.

.SWARM by Hegemege 2017-12-04T20:48:55Z

Nice original game. It's fun to see the ants wandering around just to get zapped by laser. But with only a few pointers you can really help them. I couldn't reset the level when I realized the path (first laser level) I sent them towards was hopeless, after a few minutes a few of them succeeded but not enough to overcome the growing boredom and I then quit. Maybe you can add moving predators, so we can see some flocking behaviours. There is some potential but you should probably limit the number of ants to give the player some challenge.

Life & Debt: A Real Life Simulator by Krassenstein 2017-12-06T22:33:51Z

My banker is rich :) But I've plenty of useless things to play with :)

... by exezin 2017-12-12T01:17:54Z

The game is OK but not very playable. Graphics looks nice. Fast to load. Controls are not good. Text rendering not very readable. I looked at your engine source, +1 for effort, C and webgl is sooooooooooooooo verbose. Kudos for getting text and shader to work, I don't even know how you can debug such thing through the layers of emscripten compilation. The mere fact of getting your engine to work is quite an achievement. Well done !

Slightly annoying traffic by JOrbits 2017-12-12T00:43:38Z

Very fun game. Cars are a bit too small to click when not in fullscreen. Well done.

Tomb Robber by ronin748 2017-12-05T17:06:43Z

Nice little dungeon crawler. The movement felt sluggish as if underwater and coupled with the time remaining gauge, it felt like I was exploring some ships wreckage (But I'm not sure it's intended as the spider don't live underwater :) ) Also I encountered a focus grab issue : every time I attacked by pressing space-bar the scroll-bar scrolled down half a page. Nice pixel art. Thanks for the lara croft remainder. Overall well done.

Unnatural Occurrences by Plasmonic 2017-12-22T01:27:53Z

Nice incremental game. Ambiance well set (reminded me of Irenicus dungeon). The game seems rather pointless as I don't get to feel all the awesome things I can achieve with my newly crafted spells. Overall I enjoyed the experience. Well done.

Make Ludum Dare Great Again by ultimategrinder 2017-12-20T18:01:52Z

I won. Nice animations. Ok audio. Hitboxes should be reworked to include head. A little repetitive. Overall a nice little game. Well done.

Life is money by vfabien21 2017-12-06T22:08:18Z

Nice graphics and audio, though a little repetitive but I guess it's the point of the game isn't it? Make me think of the sci-fi "vicious cycle" short film ( ?v=9k5RKDxs2RA )

Social Status Simulator 2017 by sgstair 2017-12-04T17:05:42Z

Didn't play the Game (Linux here). I looked at your code. It looks promising for future simulations. Though I'm not sure it will be easy to debug and expand. You probably should look into the Immutable concept, or do a JS version, either with React/Redux or Vue.js . You may even use some sqlite3 for persistence.

Social Status Simulator 2017 by sgstair 2017-12-04T22:26:25Z

@sgstair Immutability allows you to save an history quite cheaply to replay when looking for bugs. It's very useful for unit-testing. You can get by with transactions only if they are fully deterministic (save the random seed). If you can make transactions reversible (by storing additional data), you can build AI which explores the simulation and eventually backtracks. Or sample some montecarlo trajectories to get some probability estimations for your actions. I enjoy C# with Resharper a lot, but when it comes to diffusing your code js wins hands down, and you also got UI for free. But I concede that if you need to scale it up C# will be better. Also sooner or later you'll probably want to serialize your actions (and there you'll hit a wall).

Social Status Simulator 2017 by sgstair 2017-12-04T23:20:37Z

@sgstair Yep I didn't notice but the point about serialization is deeper than just storing an id. Because the id is linked to your build version (if you modify any of your action (when bug fixing) it will mess up with your database replay ability).

Nano Life by primitive-concept 2017-12-05T10:14:01Z

Quite complex but very original. Nice game

Mini Mod by Riker Greenslade 2017-12-05T12:42:30Z

Beautiful art and audio. Very nice mood. Motion feels incredible. Best game I've seen so far. Really impressive. Only negative points is the boss which is not targeting you and you sometimes lose track of how many hit points you still have. Well done.

Spin Attack by ditzel 2017-12-04T21:39:37Z

Really Nice physics engine. The puzzles are quite funny. The music is OK though it becomes repetitive. There are plenty of different way to solve a level. I did 10 levels and there maybe not enough diversity. Though I enjoyed the Jump level a lot. Probably adding more of those levels and less stack the cubes. Overall good original game.

Quantum's Rick by cortexdeveloper 2017-12-07T15:26:58Z

R&M is too smart for me. Well done! Interesting concept. Screw up a few things and it takes exponentially longer to put things back into place. Negative point is I'm just too slow.

Asteroid Crasher by erebus 2017-12-05T10:50:09Z

Well done. Nice art and audio. Cool original mechanic. Maybe a little too much randomness. Sometimes upon a retry the level is just too easy. Also it would be good to know how far the space gate is so we can adjust strategy. I enjoyed the "small" gate a lot.

Stand your ground by GistNoesis 2017-12-04T17:51:13Z

@grostonton I have my real life tower defense : (check my "Linn photobooth" tracking video) :) . But more to the point, I use Ludum Dare as an exploratory week-end to try ideas I can't test during work. So this was the opportunity to use Three.js. And currently I'm experiencing a paradigm shift towards "system's thinking" with emerging behaviour resulting from simple interactions. So I tried to add this bit (did you notice you can get fire to propagate across grass balls :) ? ). The theme was quite uninspiring to me so it forced me to reflect upon it, and after a few iterations I chose this game philosophy : "You throw some balls some hit, some don't but they come back, you set your own pace but you'll have to manage". Add a little too much Tetris when I was kid, and you get this game.

Stand your ground by GistNoesis 2017-12-05T09:35:30Z

@thetophatnoob : Glad you got the Johnny Cash reference :)

@almost-panda-studio : Thanks for the feedback. The rule is you lose when one enemy (Big sphere touch your half-space (i.e. y < 0 ). But you are right that I should have repositioned the camera to better show the player where the line was crossed.

Stand your ground by GistNoesis 2017-12-05T21:20:14Z

@dumivid thanks for the feedback. Yes I should probably have add an easy mode without the air element. The ball are constantly accelerating towards you (it's meant to add some pressure like they are coming to get you), which makes them harder to feel where they are going because these are not trajectories we as humans are used to. But with a little practice you can get used to it.

@georgebgreen The controls were meant to feel like a 3d version of "Tetris", the aiming is quite natural once you get used to it but I concede that it feels unusual at first (see above). Glad you like my music. The controls are meant to induce fast repetitive key-presses in rhythm with the fast paced music.

@dimesto52 There is a mechanism in place to make people tilt : If they restart the game immediately without taking a few seconds to breathe, they will have extra balls at the start (allowing them to grow their score back faster). Also the pace of the game is mainly determined by how many bullets you shoot.

@hilvon thanks for the feedback.

@alottabit The controls are intended Tetris like, sorry you didn't like them but you're not the only one :) I'll do my best to make the controls more user friendly in my next Ludum Dare.

@Pixelome laser pointer wouldn't do it because of gravity but @eptwalabha suggested 3d dashed lines to me.

@zinkler glad you enjoyed the music. Look at the source search for "mp3", and grab the file you liked (There are 2 distinct audio clips of unequal quality which I randomly AB test :) ).

Stand your ground by GistNoesis 2017-12-13T01:14:02Z

@zinkler This is a single self-contained html page. You open it in your browser and then you do a "view source" (depending on your browser it may be inside the "developer tools" menu). Or you can use your text editor and open the URL.

@m-1 thanks. I didn't know about triplanar texture mapping.

Cosmiring by Dumivid 2017-12-05T11:25:48Z

Nice first ludum dare entry. Controls had a little inertia for my taste. Nice audio effects. There are some interesting mechanics (balancing spark) which could get pushed further. I don't like having to press a button to collect the letters. A global map would help. Overall good game but missing local objective and incentives. Well done.

Paint all the Colors by Thomas Molby 2017-12-04T21:01:57Z

Nice game, though it doesn't check for content like google quick draw does. Fun to try to paint an object without its usual color. Quite puzzling to use more colors than what's needed and still have a nice picture. This is a nice painting application but only as funny as the painter willingness to play. Ok audio. Overall OK.

A Spark of Light by TurbulentWinds 2017-12-20T18:09:40Z

I became a supernova, only to realize that it meant that I lost :( . Nice mechanics. Nice art and audio, it set up the mood quite well.

Castle Diorama by Abuki 2017-12-20T17:50:46Z

Nice graphic and audio. I got stuck. Not my favourite type of games, but I enjoyed the experience. Well done.

Friends.OS by Rob White 2017-12-04T16:21:31Z

Nice satire of our current internet life. Fun but I'm not a fan of the genre. I found the audio rather annoying but it's probably intended. Btw, let's play Cluedo, who did you murder with the lava lamp?

Techno Fever by detectiveLosos 2017-12-05T10:31:08Z

The global mood is good, very techno. Art and audio is great. A little difficulty sometimes to understand where I am. Is it possible to lose ? Very fun experience.

Shit happens #LDJAM40 by Chetan pant 2017-12-05T00:07:54Z

Nice first Ludum dare entry. Very cool art and audio. Kind of a zombie like. Fun little game.

Smack`Em! by mess110 2017-12-20T17:55:29Z

Colorful art, Nice audio effects. A bit too fast to my taste. Reminded me of real world arcade games, thanks.

Power Play by lawzy93 2017-12-05T10:06:13Z

Unfinished game. I couldn't get any money. I didn't understand the point of the map. The art is childish but funny. Try picking up a less ambitious game next time. Ludum Dare is a good exercise to meet a deadline.

Mizu by sbarrio 2017-12-04T11:50:31Z

Congratulations for fitting the theme well. Nice electronic music. You even took care of the little details like adding some sonic shoes to your slow bucket. I enjoyed the waterfall you must pass quickly mechanic. Overall good game. Extra Kudos for writing the controls on the walls :)

The more you baby... by Tomáš Selmeci 2017-12-04T16:08:36Z

To be played by teenagers in school as a contraceptive tool :) Fun little game.

Don't get drunk by tulipekoni 2017-12-12T00:52:12Z

Made me nauseous really quickly.

Leaning Tower by Patrick D 2017-12-04T16:35:26Z

Rather unintuitive (I didn't understand the tower's behaviour), tower almost doesn't move until around 45 seconds where suddenly one more person makes it twist by 45 degrees in a second from which it can't be recovered, but it's fun until them. Nice audio, I'll have to get it out of my mind now :) . You can probably add bonus points for squashing people. Also if you could make the tower jump, I'd really have liked for it to be able to do some flips.

MAMMONITE LD40 by bigmetre 2017-12-04T11:39:44Z

I played the HTML5 version. Some goblins were sometimes stuck in the pillars. I find it rather hard to hit without being hit back. Fun when you survive more than 10 seconds. The graphics 3d art and animation are really nice. Audio loot effect adds to the fun. Overall good game.

Vacuum Invaders by deshipu 2017-12-04T17:18:29Z

Very cool project. Doing an old game, on the modern equivalent of the old computers but doing it with Python :) Well done getting it to work ! Embedded platform games coming to Ludum Dare LOLOLOL :)

Secret by WiseClock 2017-12-04T12:30:38Z

Nice concept. Played 3 times, the first one I didn't got how to break off and finished with negative 400. Then I tried again, understood the controls, and finished even worse at minus 520 :). I then strategized a little (wait before telling secret) for my third game and finished at 740. The mechanic is fun, and I enjoyed the lack of control. Although observing all the actions I sometime lost the focus of where I am. Quite realistic moving through the crowd effect when you try to stop a badmouth. Overall fun game but I would be very wary about getting/inducing any life revelations from such a simplistic simulation.

Secret by WiseClock 2017-12-04T13:19:44Z

@wiseclock your game reminds me of dark mood Nicky Case's games.

As The Crow Flies by BarDunBar 2017-12-04T20:32:28Z

I couldn't direct the crow. Nice terrain, and graphic. It would be nice if it was more lively. It looks a lot like civilizations games but without any civs. Well done.
