good overall game but the music hurts, I know it just might be like that for the memes but at the same time maybe add like a volume or something.

nice game but music somwhat hurts
I like how big and chunky the visuals are.
Congrats on finishing your first Ludum Dare! Here's a few things I noticed: - The instructions don't mention that the spacebar is the jump button- or the fact that you can double jump. I wouldn't have figured out either of those things if it weren't for the fact that the first image shows the player character standing on a raised platform. Since the instructions mention using WASD to move, I expected W to be jump. - Whenever the character changes direction, the camera quickly jumps to the right or left. This can be very disorienting. - It would be nice if there was an element of risk to the game, such as taking damage when you run into the blobs.
@birdwards Thanks for the feedback and will indeed take these into consideration while making my next game..Thanks
Shooting mechanic works great!
I like this game. The music is fitting, but it's so dissonant, that it actually hurts my ears. And there's no risk. Just a few ideas.
Loved ittt
I played with headphones on, Jesus Christ my ears. Would also be nice if there was a bit more polish (perhaps smoother animations).
Also didn't know space was jump and you could double jump, atleast not immediately.
Other than that however, its a good game with a solid core. Hope it gets expanded upon.
The music is slightly obnoxiuose, but it fits the theme and the arwork is qiute simple.Overall for 48h its not that bad
@rhou and @darylsteak Thanks for the feedback. The music was rushed because of the time limit.. And also I suck at making music. I will focus more on Sound and animations while making my next project.
Cool nice job hope to see you at the nex LD game jam
Nice game. Good job!
This is really cool! I really like the artwork, although the music is a bit annoying. The game is quite responsive but I wish the walk and jump was faster.
I didn't mind the music, and I thought the sprites looked great! Congrats on your first Ludum Dare!
Thanks @pukami and @digitallimestone. I dit not have enough time to balance the game(character speed, Enemy speed, Jump force ect..) Thanks for the feedback..
Congrats on your first Ludum Dare! I have attended few time Ld, but usually don't get time to make soundtrack. It's very nice you have done all things in the first time!
Thanks @sanyingli
A cute game. But I feel dizzy when I turn left or turn right.
@mantou If I had time I would have made the camera movement smooth but … time is limited.. Thanks for the feedback.
A very fun little game. I would have liked many more enemies to spawn, so there could have a been many more sacrifice. The graphics was good, but the music could have been better. Overall a good first LD game. Well done.
Thanks @jk5000 the spawning mechanics was not quite good as if there are too many enemies they would get stuck at one place. And the time intervals between which they spawn is random(from 5 to 15 sec)
The music hurts , The shooting feels cool. For camera movement i suggest that you take a look at Unity's Cine-machine i used it this time and wow! so much customization with almost 0 effort. A nice video about Cinemachine i watched : https://youtu.be/2jTY11Am0Ig As jk5000 maybe more enemies would feel cooler.
@behzad-robot Thanks for the suggestion but the problem was not the lack of knowledge but the lack of time. Thanks again for the feedback
Congrats for finishing your first compo!!
Like everyone said I feel like enemies should hurt you and the camera makes you a little bit dizzy. Overall, cool game!
Hi!
First of all congratulations for finish your first compo. The game it's really nice but here are some suggestions, from another person that it's his first ludum.
The music is a little bit annoying, try to put something more calmed. When I started playing I had to get off my headphones because i had the sound in the max volume.
Also the camera is a quit strange, I've seen that other users said the same so I recommend to follow their instructions. Although the camera it wasn't a problem to keep playing.
I've played some games and I like it, you should be proud of your result!
Not sure why people hated the music, it perfectly captures my memory of 8-bit synthesizers and dodgy speakers. I did have some issues with the controls. The jump button is in the wrong place for me and the jump mechanic was a little weird.
@david-hunter Thanks..
This is also my very first Ludum Dare, so I understand what you've been going through x) I really enjoyed playing this game! Yet, it felt like the game concept was a bit (too) simple (there wasn't any "twist"). Also the music sounded a bit bad in my opinion. Anyway, you've done a great job finishing this in only 24h! :D
Nice game but the camera is painful and you forget to mention space is to jump
I would say that it is a good basis to start something, but there are some "little details" that need to be fixed first (most importantly the camera).
I liked the visual !
Picture is too comfortable
I like the artwork, it's a good submission for a first entry. My only complaint really is the camera transitions. Lerping the positions would easily solve that problem.
Thanks Everyone for the feedbacks and suggestion. For the camera I did not have time to complete so I just parented the camera to the player>>Easy but Painful for the eye. :)
Very nice game! Super funny colorfull wiath a intense gameplay! Congratulations!
Lovely game, Super cool gameplay, well done
Nice visuals but there isnt much to do.
The music is a little bit to repetitive, Instead of parenting the camera to the player make a simple script with an offset to the camera from the player as to avoid the weird camera movement.
The music makes me feel like I'm in the depths of hell. Love it.
Nice Work! Here's a few things that might help next time around.
- Avoid just making the camera a child of the player and setup a simple camera move script (There are plenty of tutorials if you struggle with smooth movement) - Add a volume setting or at least a mute button. The music got really loud and obnoxious
Otherwise nice job.
Congrats on your first LD! You have taken your first steps into a bigger world! Look forward to what you make in future. I think all the crits have already been made by everyone else, so welcome aboard!
Good job!
With the camera being zoomed in and the world shifting over a little bit when you turn around, the game is kind of disorienting, since you can't make much sense of the world around you. Also, and I've seen this with a lot of games this ludum dare, the jump is pretty floaty, which makes jumping more of a hassle than a fun mechanic, since it doesn't feel as much like a springy fun power, it feels more like an uncontrollable gravity change. I think if you decide to add a jump to your game, making it feel good is crucial. Also, whenever you kill a blob, it doesn't feel like you have done much; it's not a very visceral experience. It kind of just feels like you have deleted an entity from the game. I think you could make it feel more real with a sound effect, some particles, and maybe a little bit of screen shake.
Sorry to be so critical, but I think if you added some of these things into your game, it would add a lot to the experience. Since the main point is to "sacrificate" blobs, I think the feel of that mechanic is the most important thing to fix. You've got a nice idea though, and nice job for doing it in two days!
Nice job hitting all the bases on your first LD entry! You had some art with a style, nice crunchy sound effects, an original song, multiple weapons with weapon-switching, the title screen, score screen, UI timer, it's really a lot of stuff that covers all the aspects of the game. No small feat for a first LD entry!!
I think you've had some good advice above, so I won't go too much into repeating. I was okay with the music, personally. But I will repeat the camera thing, just cuz that's like a huge deal. You went for a more advanced "offset" camera that isn't exactly centered on the character, and that's great, but if you can't do it smoothly you shouldn't do it at all, because a centered camera is much easier and allllmost as good. You can just child the camera to the player and set the transform position to 0,0,0 and boom. Then you only come back and try the fancier camera if you have time to get it done smooth.
So like the first thirty seconds I was brainscrambled by the camera, but after that I got used to it (it probably feels completely fine to you since you experienced it so much). And then it didn't matter anymore.
The triple-jump was an odd choice but I kind of liked it. I certainly USED it a lot, to get up to higher platforms. I think if you have a cool feature like that, you can lean into it and make it a bigger part. Maybe flying slimes?
I don't mean to suggest more scope - you have a LOT of scope and it's impressive. Well done. I'll look forward to seeing what you come up with in future LDs.
