Cool game. Not enough enemies (From what I played, too few at the starting area, made the game feel slow). Since the player movement is locked to a pixel grid and the camera follows it exactly, it causes the camera to feel jittery and it actually started to hurt my eyes in fullscreen.
(If you've never used Unity, try switching. Godot is cool but Unity is still better, even for beginners)
I'm sorry to say this, but I only get a black screen
@cornettheory Which platform are you using?
windows 10 x64
The game loads, and the interaction all works, music / sfx, but the screen does not refresh after the godot logo, and is black.
Hey! I had a lot of fun with this one and have rated it pretty darn high across the board. I do have thoughts if you want them: - the tutorial screen confused me and i had to quit out my first game and go back to read it again. (just changing the font etc in places would help this) - the game started to slow down frame rate when more things spawned - when i first spawned i had no idea what to do, once i found some of the infection though i started to have fun, but it took me a minute of wondering what was happening - having such a large map was awesome - not sure what the difficulty is supposed to be like, but my character was never in danger - only the cities - really fun cool game
@cornettheory I wonder if it might be something to do with OpenGL 3 over OpenGL 2. Unfortunately, im such a noob with Godot that I have no real idea. Sorry, but thank you for taking a look! I wish I knew what to do to help!
@happysnake Thanks a lot, that's some really great feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
@soupstoregames Thank you for responding, if I think of something I'll let you know. good luck!
I do not agree with @n0ught234, I did my first game with godot this jam and it was so much easier to understand than Unity. The lack of tutorials is a problem sometimes but you can always figure out how to do the things in the end. I like the game, I don't understand how it follows the theme, maybe "Start with no knowledge of where the blob are". The lag is a problem and I don't think creeps should be able to move over water.
@gustav-andersson Originally, it was going to be a race between you and the blob to build up and army but I ran out of time. The blob starts with nothing and reproduces though! The lag is a pain, definitely lack of knowledge of how to optimize Godot there. Thanks for playing!
@gustav-andersson Fair. I just don't recommend using Godot over Unity for many reasons. Biggest being the massive amount of support and recognition the engine gets. You want a solution? Someone probably posted about it on the unity forums. Plus, most of the best game development youtubers (Quill18) use Unity so I highly recommend Unity for that reason. But sure, use any engine you want if you feel more comfortable with it :)
Do you think more infection sites, coupled with a slower rate of spread, would work better?
Nice graphics and menu design there
I like the interpretation that instead of you starting with nothing, an enemy starts with nothing, and you have to bring it back down to nothing. Pretty good game overall! Good job on your first Ludum Dare! :)
Theme seemed a bit backwards, being you start with a full score. ;p Played (and lost horribly) after seeing your game on elysia's stream. Good job.
@oxrock Oh most definitely :D Thanks for playing!
This was good...looking forward to more of this. Loved the neatness and plus also for a 3d spin off in some time future? Overall great work. Let me know if you find c++ modules for a suitable upgrade of this game. Excited! :P
@karanveer Thanks for the kind words, I have a lot of ideas about how to take this idea forward!
keep us posted!
Great game! I liked your take on the theme, where the enemy starts with nothing instead of you. It was nice going through each infection in order, and have each one bigger than the last because of the time wasted on the previous one, and how both you and the enemy used the same resource. Well done!
Very innovative idea for a game, absolutely amazing. It is fun to play and the audio adds a lot to the experience. For the first time of using Godot, well done.
Thank you @frogman and @yonman, very kind words. You made me smile :)
Thanks for submitting your game for me to play on my livestream!
