Wow, my favorite game this far. Short but sad story. I love the low poly graphics and the mood was spot on.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD39 → a story about a cat

Couldn't make it work on Linux :( I think there is a problem with the zip.
That was a strange experience. The "a" key turned left as well as meowed, so I heard the meowing incessantly. It honestly took me a long while to find the box to birth a litter in. I want to say that the cat was cool looking and i like that it was animated. You even made sure to include the butt hole, so kudos for that.
I wish I could go on more adventures with the cat! Playing it for a couple of minutes and I still felt emotional for the characters. Annoying that the cats tail was taking up the entire screen and the meow sfx could have been better. Didn't really see how this was running out of power though.
Oh no, the poor cateen!
Very neat! I got a little confused at times, for example, when I missed the hole in the fence, but I really like how the goals do feel like the thoughts of the cat.
Ahhhh
This was great, excellent story telling and mood. Only thing is I think you accidentally bound the A key to play the meow sound effect as well as the X key
That ending... I liked the game. It took me a while to figure out where were the exits of each section. Although I'm not sure if you should make it easier. After all, you're a cat. Anyway, great job!
Best game 2017. 10 bowls of food / 10
That might be the first Ludum Dare game that's made me feel sad at the end. Loved the game, and the simple graphics really worked well.
:(
The tail in front of the camera is really irritating, as is the constant whining noise. Maybe that was the point. Very well done interactive storytelling, I really felt like my goals and feelings as a player lined up with the character's. However I did almost quit because of those two things.
Well done over all!
Really good game! Very sad, but it was still a lot of fun to play! Well done on all the modelling and animation!
That was unexpectedly sad. Really well put together thought and definitely the best sense of story in any of the games I've tried so far. Well done!
Man this game brought tears to my eyes. It really proves visuals are not everything and story has a huge effect in a game.
Couple things I'd like to mention If you consider further development of the game. - UI could be more descriptive so the player knows what the mission is. - Better cam angles could help player see the are better. Cam was too close to the cat and tail blocks the view. - Textures and models could be improved and standardized.
And thank you for the great game.
The linux zip is broken (form me) i get an error when trying to extract it tried downloading it twice
Great story-game. I love how the same area was reused so what was first unfamiliar became more and more like a home! By far the most story and moody game Ive played here
WHAT THE FUCK DID I JUST LIVE THROUGH? Wow... This broke my heart. Thank you.
I love the minimal UI, the low camera angle and some unrealistic goals near the end - it all adds to the experience of being a clueless cat.
Beautiful game. You did a great job with story telling and I thought that the controls and camera setup really added to the immersion.
@daepso @aterlamia linux build should be good now - for some reason it didn't finish uploading last night :)
(thanks for the comments everyone)
Probably best mood in a ludum dare game ever. Really liked the helpless feeling after being trapped. =)
Top notch storytelling and level design. It was fun to gain an understanding of the world, and as I was able to go more places I actually did feel more 'cat-like'. The fact that you can't tilt the camera is a really interesting and effective feature. Really well done.
I've just been staring at a cat's bumhole for *10 minutes*.
P.S. those poor kittens. :slight_frown: :crying_cat_face:
nice butthole! I don't know how many times I jumped off the top of the rock, gliding as a cat is fun for some reason. Your grass is fricken great man, and what happened to the lawn chairs????
Wow... that ending...
I really enjoyed the options for getting into the various yards. I didn't realize you could jump the wall by the fence to access the third yard, so I ended up crawling on the neighbours head and jump-hovering from there. Much more satisfying that way.
This game does a very nice job at explaining its goals and narrative with minimal text, and a bit of trial-and-error. It's unusual for a jam game to make me emotional, I can't help but give it 5 stars in Mood for the story.
Congratulations. You got me to look at a cat butt for about 5 minutes.
Try to not cry... cry a lot. I'm not gonna say you "congratulations" cause you broke my heart... :'( But "nice" game tho, I really like the atmosphere and the graphics, it's amazing how you've create a credible world place from nothing in... gosh, only 48 hours (I just see it's a compo and not a jam). And there is also some sound design to dress up the game a little bit. It's a 5 stars Graphics and Mood for me. Also it was really enjoyable to climb on stuff especially people's head, but the very first objective was hard to figure out. Not really a problem tho, it's cool to just search and explore, and adapted to a cat. So good job mate, but why did you have to broke my heart ?? I hope there is a secret good ending. :'(
My favourite part was when I managed to help my poor cateen jump on a man's head and escape from the world. It was definitely endearing in its own way. Good work!
I saw increpare and was excited for a game that would break my brain but instead I got a game that broke my heart :(
This is so sad. I should have something more constructive to say, but all I have is sadness...Thanks...
