Very intense, I like the Concept, I now kinda now what it feels like to be a world leader:)
Woohoo I'm tailing the log file on my server, and watching people connect! It's Awesome! @Saithir you're my first recorded player! (not forgetting about December Dogs though)
I think I failed. But the population was through the roof so I guess someone wins anyway ;) Was very intense but kinda confusing. :)
Great concept! As I'm not a native English speaker, it is quite difficult to be fast enough but I also think I'm not a good leader for the world :)
Neat little game here. There's a lot of depth here for 48 hours!
Woohoo these are so Cool to read! Thank you, I'm going to update the instructions and give some play guidance.

Interesting concept, but I feel like it could be explained better and I just ended up researched a bunch of stuff then losing :(
Kept me engaged though!
Excellent work here. I got the 'universe dies of entropy' ending about 10 times, and honestly after the first few I was tempted to go rogue and try to wipe out humanity in a timeline. If you intended to make humanity come across as incessant, you certainly achieved that. After my winning run, I actually did try to wipe out humanity, but I couldn't figure out how. The 'defeat entropy' run is hard enough as it is. Though there are many paths through the research tree, it seems that most of them are dead ends. I tried reading the Asimov story for hints, and when that failed I looked at the source code. Except I somehow messed that up and ended up hitting the 'universe dies of entropy' ending one research away from victory twice in a row. I won't spoil the route for other people here, but I will note that there really isn't much room for error. Well done, and all hail Steve.
Very interesting game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 39 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8AUyAsiiWQQ
Thank you @Jupiter_Hadley , It was very cool to watch the play when I got back from work! totally made my afternoon :)
Holy cow! So many buttons! I think i eventually figured out what to do, and it seemed like a nice premise if you like to read all of the text.
Wow, this is somewhere between FermiGame, my LD38 game "No Borders, No Nations", and uses some lingo reminiscent of Europa Universalis. Sweet!
Like: - haven't played ANY game like this - web tech is beyond me, so I tip my hat - game is really complex and lots of choices - I love how researching religion is a bad idea - the graph shows your situation really well - so many choices that seem to build on each other.
Try differently: - the feed in the left column is super spammy, I was feeling very overwhelmed - the objective is very vague. even after two turns of explanation. :)
Overall: - I researched fucking ROCK STARS! My work here is done! (sadly, I caused a bunch of wars and a huge population decline afterwards, but I guess you can't win em all) - a very noteworthy entry!
Saw your post, I don't want you to feel bad like after LD 38 so I came to rate! :)
This was the first game I've seen specifically made to be played in a browser so it stands out. I kept being prompted to research flawed science and I honestly don't understand why. I assumed it was a pseudo-science type thing and wanted to avoid it as much as possible. People create enough of their own weird ideas without official research i think. Even the CIA was asking for it, so eventually I relented assuming I must not understand the meaning properly. Sadly, with no artwork or sound there's a lot missing from a traditional game recipe. Hopefully others enjoy it like I did.
Really interesting, deep game! As an incremental fan, I really appreciated the complexity of this. I didn't quite grasp the significance of the choices on the left. Sadly I accidentally left it open for a while and ended with "Humanity is in revolt, you have become a dictator to them, a maniac machine." :robot:
A really interesing, great concept with a great implementation.
A few things you maybe could have enhanced: - **When clicking a button,** it sometimes happened that I wanted to click the button, but in this moment, a new question "came in" and I answered something I didn't want to answer in a way I didn't want. - **Maybe, making it a bit easier at the beginning** would have helped (like this, I got thrown into the game and had to study the UI while already getting thousands of questions)
After getting into it it was much fun playing, although unfortunately I didn't have the time to complete the game (I'm looking forward to trying it again with more time)
**All in All:**
One of the most complex games I've seen so far, which means I pretty much like it however good or bad the game is
**Jokes aside: A great concept and a great game !**
Kept me playing for almost half an hour, what a fun game! It feels very finished.
This is definitely a unique entry. Very complex and lots to keep up with, maybe a bit too much stuff since it's starts to feel very spammy at times with the left panel.
I didn't really feel like I got any indications on the gravity of my choices on research. I just kinda tried first to avoid researching anything that didn't sound useful, then after being prompted for "flawed science" (which I expected to be a bad thing) and the like multiple times I researched everything I could. Graphics could go a long way giving you a better sense of what's actually going on.
In any case, I very much liked it. Very well done!
It felt a lot like an office job. It was effective at simulating the too much to do, not enough time. It was interesting to see such a range of decision making, and it all fell on me. The only criticism is that the same questions came up multiple times.
Oh hey you made a game based on my favourite Asimov story! I really enjoyed playing through this a few times (although I can't seem to save humanity :/ ) and I can really see how lucky we are google isn't sentient ;D
Maybe give a couple more hints on what to research? Also, I had trouble following what impact answering the questions had. Overall a great idea for a game, and a very creative adaptation of a short story!
Aww It's so COOL reading your feedback :)
I think if I was to do anything more with this, I would link it to Twitter (never got that far), and have it so the players could post questions that would appear in the left side! make it a bit more interesting. (Would have to actively vet the questions though :-/)
@widdershinscrustacean (wow what a name) I'm happy to find someone else who likes the book! And, are you sure Googles not Sentient? ;)
@badly-drawn-rod (lol, nice name). I think that overloaded office job was the feeling I was going for, you're meant to be answering all of humanities questions :) so yea :) Awesome!
@Devastus Yea, feedback could be better.. research I think I left fairly mysterious. If you read the short story, you will see the theme behind the game, and maybe you'll see more of the research you should do, But otherwise I think it's all about trial and error. (There is a way to win - I'll post it up after the judging)
@alejandrodlsp - Awesome :) that's pretty good going, half an hour is a fair bit of time.
@pklaschka - Yea, that button jumping away and clicking another, that was annoying, I think CSS animations would have been good - but I'm a pretty naff designer. It's something for me to work on :) Otherwise I'm glad you liked it :)
@deathray - You Dictator! What did you do to your poor people? haha :) I hope you found the message funny :) It happens when you make them unhappy, and not answering their questions, it makes them unhappy :P :)
@Thygrrr - Go Rockstar! :)
@red-fan-games - There is a lot of text :) I kinda ran out of ideas for things humanity could ask the machine, not a creative writer myself :) Glad it got a couple of plays though :)
@piscythe - Dude You are Awesome! I'm so glad you dived in there and had a look behind the curtain! You'll have seen there is an ending for "Kill all humans" :) I love that you found more than just the death by entropy ending :) - Regarding research, I think you have 3~5 researches you can get wrong, but some bugs in there can trip stuff out (people telling you to research something you have already researched.) Thank you SO much for playing :) I'm stunned someone played it so many times :)
@ - Everyone Else :) - Thank you for playing as well! You're all awesome and I feel really overwhelmed! Thank you!
