more of an interactive story than a game but still good :)
i wish there more games like this in the mainstream (I would buy this)
Programmer Art :)
A linux build please?
Simple maechanics, complex gameplay.
Awesome game all around.
The level design is 9/10 really good top down game.
Thank you so much for the Linux build!!! Great game too by the way
simply amazing
Not technically a weapon but it still works
pretty good
Verry laid back feel to it
linux build doesnt work
Pretty good, it really fit the theme, a great concept.(I too considered using a banana gun but i ended up with a banana/boomerang). But "the voice" scared the s#!^ out of me :) 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000/10 -IGN
WTF don't know what to do. seems cool and the graphics are neat tho. :)
I don't have time to start a server, multiplayer games are cool in ludum dare but it's hard to find players
Alright, not bad. Just a note tho, multiplayer is pretty rare on ludum dare and most people dont have time to host a server
Was unable to play (im a linux) ;(
So damn hard
pertty good;
Make a linux jar man!
Pretty good
Reminds me of a game boy game.
I usually hate rhythm games but this game is extremely fun!
Holy cow this is great. I once got an idea for something like this, never made it tho...... IGN/10
LINUX PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Amazing!
Linux please?
Controls where pretty bad but the graphics where nice game play was extremely fun. I loved finding ways to rack up massive combos.
Looks like a good game. Can't play because i'm on linux tho
:( if you want to appeal to linux and mac users try LOVE 2d
it's probably similar but i don't really know (Never used coolbasic). I'm going to rate and play this on my friends windows machine to see how good it is.
Whoa this is so zen. :0
MAKE A LINUX VERSION!!!!
Music is soo tactical! :) It complements the game really well. THe mechanics are rock solid too. 1000/10 IGN
can't play because i'm linux
A great concept, i jhave never seen anything like it.
Would make a good phone game.
The graphics whre superb and the gameplay was nice
Not amazing but not bad either 76/100
concept is OK but i ac't run it because i'm linux
Good for a ludum dare game;
I need a linux build.
OK....
A pretty dank game in my book but a wee bit slow on my ol' laptop
Could not play because of java 8 :/
Linux please?
Not bad......
Hacking feature is a novel idea.
WTF 10000000000000000000000/10 -IGN
Would buy this on steam.
not bad
@duck But is it fun? :)
@snade It was actually supposed to be a double jump, And aboot the menu.... I didn't have time sorry m8
Graphics fit in really well with the music and the gameplay is suprisingly fun
A great game all around. 1000/10 -IGN
Linux Bulid?
This is one of the best games i've seen been made in an LD jam the controlls are a bit combersome but otherwise it's a perfect game. :)
Pretty damn cool :) Great art, good concept. I'd play a more polished version if you continued working on it.
Not bad , just needs a little bit of tweaking and it would have been even better than it already was. But still nice.
79/10 - IGN
Linux please?
Simple and fun, like flappy bird with less difficulty.
Soo relaxing :)
Linux please :/
The art was phenomenal and had great style, more of and experience than a game though
Bapto-bismol! Prepare to play with power! 40/50 -IGN
MUAHAH DESTROY DESTROY!!!!! >:)
A linux build please? :(
Suprisingly good.
Very clever, could play this for hours.
A fellow JAVA programmer :)
Um...
Graphics are vey easy on the eyes, a great first entry.
A linux build please?
pretty cool, the music really set up the tone and the game mechanics where very solid and enjoyable!10/10
Chores have never been this epic :)
Neat, good concept but got an exeption.
The art is great, really refreshing and clean with just a touch of sketchiness. Controls are a little wonky but still a great game.
Interesting...... I WILL DO THIS IN REAL LIFE !! :)
A little confusing but once you get the hang of it it's a great game.
I need a linux build!
So catchy, my foot was tapping to the beat of the weapon :)
A wee bit to non-linear needs some direction, otherwise a superb game!
It's not bad to say the least.
I am amuse!
Ha! I finally got my ps move to work and it was AWESOME!
Nice, simple and fun.
Really neat, good aesthetic.
Really good! The moving of the camera added to the challenge.
Really good visual style.
Great game play and mood. The music complimented both.
What is the challenge? You just move around and eat stuff.
Nice mechanic.
5/5 in every respect, this was awesome! Seeing what people would say was just so interesting!
Amazing style and graphics flying mechanic is cool as well.
Really fit the theme, but i'm sorry to say the music was a tad annoying.
Really good idea, but keeping them together was a pain(a minor one albeit).
How do i find out the controls, I mashed some buttons and figured out 3 buttons.
How do I run? I am on linux.
I failed:D , But the font was godlike, was it a divine gift from beyond the starts? I'd like to see more!
Good style, nice game.
Really nice syncing of the music and bullets!
Really good take on the theme!
Awesome! Impressive visuals, and amusing sound effects.
The physics where odd, the graphics where nice. Pretty good!
Hello darkness my old friend...
Music was kind of repetitive, graphics where really good, an innovative concept. Was the twitch thing an afterthought, or did you plan that from the start?
Sorry, I use chromium and Linux, and don't have an Xbox controller so i cant really play. :(
Overall really great, the concept is beautiful, worth expanding upon.
Good for your first game.
Great concept, music was nice.
Pretty neat!
Neat concept. Decent graphics. Pretty very alright.
The audio really fit this game. Really nice!
Thanks for the Linux implementation!
Nice game btw.
Little confusing at first , but when you get the hang of it it's awesome.
Really fun to play, graphics impressive as well! The art style is cohesive throughout the experience.
Great! I loved it. What did you use to create a game boy game?
Really great twist on asteroids! Really good "feel" too it.
So, wanna play destiny?
Its all about that A E S T H E T I C.
Decent graphics, great music. The bullets where huge.
Could use some instructions.
Art style is weird, but consistent. A for effort! :)
Bit tricky, your linux build is broken btw, you need the data folder. Windows build ran fine though.
Really interesting concept, I really felt bad for Isosceles, but I needed some dough. :/
Bummer, Dude!
Nice styling, unique concept, love it!
Astounding visuals, loved it.
Really good mechanic. Solid and polished.
Physics where a tad wonky, a good start and moderately decent graphics.
Good idea, music was weird, yet fitting.
Nice art.
Really interesting take on the theme.
Holy cow, this was made in love2d, you have some serious skill!
Really solid.
Cool idea.
Nice music, controlls a little funny though.
Very well built, simple though.
Umm.. That was quite the game. :) Good Job.
Really good for a first try!
Cool idea!
Looks nice, sprites are very simple looking.
Good puzzles and implementation.
Really nice puzzle plat former. Well done.
Good concept, but strange implementation. Good nonetheless.
Really cool entry, looking a bit blurry though.
Good platformer, sometimes I would get stuck though.
Looks like issac.Plays like a charm. :)
Very well done, but needs instructions.
Cool concept, innovative.
Pretty decent for a first entry on limited time.
Good graphics and gameplay!
Nice job.
Good idea and fun, but the controls are, wonky to say the least ...
Lol, it was hard to figure out but otherwise pretty good.
Some of the best art in the jam.
Be carefoul!
I really like the sense of scale
Really good idea and nice graphics
Really good on the models and textures. Liked the setting and mood.
Awesome Title
Real fun and simple
@Karatorian Try using the Debian build. And getting the libraries sudo apt-get install libsdl2-2.0-0 libopenal1 libbulletcollision2.82 libbulletdynamics2.82 libbulletsoftbody2.82 libglew1.10 liblua5.1-0
Really good graphics love the style and mood.
Kind of strange but still enjoyable.
These graphics are incredible!I fell in love with this aesthetic and really ant to see more of it. Game play was solid and concise as a metroidvania should be. Reminds me of my forgotten project: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04j8nxyjqxY I would be down to collaborate with you on a project sometime.
Decent graphics, not really my style, but objectively good. Well designed, but it's not exactly pushing any boundaries. Really nice overall.
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: com/chaseplays/game/SmallWorld : Unsupported major.minor version 52.0
running on linux java v 1.7
Thanks, works as intended now.
Dude, this mustuve taken some skill to pull off an online multiplayer ludum dare game. Serious props to you for going the extra mile. I bet it would be trivial to cheat and I cannot wait for someone to find an exploit, but for the time being it is well executed.
Seems cool, a novel idea, dont see much of this nowadays.
A devil daggers clone.
Small glitches here and there, but a solid retro style nonetheless.
Creative mini game design, really fit the mood. I feel like I have seen this concept in a movie or you-tube video somewhere but I can't quit place it. Overall well done, but with some creepy graphics.
Huh, Interesting. Doesn't really fit with the theme, but that isn't a big deal. The theme is just a suggestion, not a rule. Graphics are strange, but bearable. I'm not really a fan of this low-poly aesthetic too many devs use, it is often done wrong. But for a compo game, i understand you had to cut corners. The game isn't the best, but not broken so props for that. Overall a pretty ok game.
Props on developing for linux! I have experiance porting to windows as i did it for my game. I can do the porting to windows for you if you would give my game a shout out in your description.
Nice aesthetic and animations. Felt well designed with lots of things to fill the void. Hard to distinguish background from foreground, but this is not too noticeable. Overall very good, aside from minor problems I had with the controls. Just a tad bit stiff.
Woo!
@iseeicy Try running in compatibility mode for windows 7. The terminal output was just the audio lodaing infromation, nothing to wory about. Did it return any other errors?
@ilseroth Use the 32 bit version on windows 10 and enable compability mode for windows 7.
@ace17 Thanks, patched this into the game. I'm using the i915 drivers.
@burgee Hey, I uploaded a crucial fix. Remember to trye 32 bit and 64 bit versions.
@candlesan Uploaded a small fix for your problem. Could you give it another try?
@mmkalll Uploaded a fix for the problem.
@chaseplays Fixed the problem.
@jushiip Fixed your problem.
@eveningwayward Fixed the problem.
@ilseroth @xxdoombox @epiplon @smooth
Fixed a large problem in the game, could you give it another try?
@automatonvx I fixed your provlem with my game, give it anither go?
@gfm Added a source code download. To build, first try running `lua build.lua` in the command line. Then type `f` into the prompt and press enter. Than type `b` into the prompt and press enter. Than type in uppercase `Q` and hit enter. If this does not work, run the command `rm $(find -name *.o)` then run `make`. To run the finished build run `bin/bin`.
@sgstair Thank you so much man! I highly appreciate you taking the time to navigate the mess that is my code to find the one place where I screwed up. Also thanks for taking the time to attempt to run my game. I implemented your patch, so it sould hopefully work. You can change mouse sensitivity in `en1/config.lua`. Try getting the 64 bit version now and see if it's any better. Once again, thanks for the help, you have my utmost gratitude.
@fouralex @masterkrepta @occultone @xxdoombox
Guys, the 64 bit version is confirmed to work. It has been confirmed to be fixed now, give it another shot if you wish.
@geckoo1337 Hey, I fixed the issue with my game. Give it another try?
Mildly confusing, lacking in core gameplay. But a really nice concept, Make a postjam version!.
Great pixel work and aesthetic. The simple graphics mesh well with each other. RTS is not a common genre in the ludum dare scene hope to see more!
Not the most original game in the world, not the funnest either. But you have definitely made a working functioning game with some mild enjoyment to be reaped. I have to give you props for making a decent game.
Very well made/ solid entry! Everything had a cohesiveness not often present in a compo game. The graphics where not blowing my mind, but still decent to look at. My brother and I had a go at it and found it too be fun, but lacking in depth. I believe you would find merit in working with the LOVE2D framework. It is simple to learn and based upon lua, so you should have no trouble picking it up. It would also allow for easy cross platform development. https://love2d.org/
Nice job with the cell shading.
Beutiful art. I would love to see more in this style. Please continue this concept or make another game.
Ah, buttery smooth controls paired with appealing animations. A treat indeed. Asteroid spawning timer was spot on. A solid game overall.
If you want more ratings **YOU NEED TO RATE MORE GAMES**. You have only rated 7, you probably need to rate 25+ games if you want a rating.
Seemed a little glitchy with the collision. A decent platformer, really nailing the humor.
Wow! Great idea, I have never seen anything like this before. It was extremely fast paced and a fun struggle to keep up with more than one guy on the screen. Well done!
I had difficulty completing the objective, but the graphics and music where stellar.
Created 1/15/2015. Seems suspicious. And why roblox, you would benefit from making a game in a framework like LOVE2D, it uses lua so you might be familiar with it. There are tutorials for it on youtube and it is simple to understand.
I have never really gotten my hands on some low level stuff before. Really inovative.
This looks awesome, please make a linux build!
Camera is disorienting.
simple and fun. The graphics are not impressive, but they get the job done. A high skill ceiling and the grappling hook made for a wonderful experience.
More interactive experience than game, but still cool and fresh. Expanding upon it would be really cool!
A novel concept, I have not seen much like this before. Fun to play in a special way.
@jushiip Hey! Nice game, really solid and cohesive aesthetic with appealing visuals. I noteced you had trouble running my game and I uploaded a fix, be sure to download the 64 bit version and possibly use compatibility mode for windows 7. https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/ids-journey
Really fun to play! I liked the rhythm of picking up a gun upgrade and just firing away. The sound was solid, nothing special or new but it gets the job done. Graphics are good for the genre, easy to identify meteors and other objects without any trouble, but once again not really anything special. Still a really nice entry with fun gameplay.

Please make a windows build. I can help you make one if you provide the source code.
Very solid, kind of hard to conceptualize in my mind, but still managed to make it past a few levels.
This has nothing to do with the theme, this isn't necessarily a bad thing however. A decent game in it's own right, albeit extremely confusing to figure out what you are supposed to do.
Nice job, this makes a good "comedy physics game" where most of the game consists of gawping at the ludicrous physics simulation. :) Nice job man.
I fixed the issue you had with my game.https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/plasma-arena
Tried the game out on a windows machine. Definitely worth the weight! It plays beautifully and seems to have that "Just right" feeling that your inspiration had. Shots are satisfying and loud making the game a joy to play.
P.S I made a windows version for my game so you can play it.
Really nice "feel" with the gravity based physics! The controls seemed a tad odd for this type of game, mouse controls would complement the mechanics better. Sometimes it was hard to tell the direction the ship was facing and the enemy AI was dumb as a rock, but overall solid entry!
P.S Thanks for playing my game! Sorry to waste an hour of your life. If you like my game you will probably like another game called "Devil Daggers", you should check it out!
@oxysoft
change mouse sensitivity in the config file see description for difficulty.
@jason-kennedy Install libsdl2 from your distribution's package manager.
@sarrixx There is audio ...
@azsteak change mouse sensitivity in the config file see description for details.
@willdata
Change the mouse sensitivity in the config file. See the description for details.
I fixed the problem you had with my game: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/plasma-arena
Really clever use of the theme, when i think "power" I don't really think about nature, but the concept works really well! Graphics where not the best in my opinion, but there was a definite sense of style put into the environment.
Fixed the problem you had with my game: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/plasma-arena
Really lives up to it's source material in a good way. Art was fantastic, but maybe only because I like pixel art when done well(this was on of those cases). It's really nice to see a fellow linux developer! I feel your pain when it comes to static linking on windows. :/
Holy cow! So many buttons! I think i eventually figured out what to do, and it seemed like a nice premise if you like to read all of the text.
I really liked the multi-layered mechanics (Get Ice Power -> Freeze seal -> Get Jet Power -> Repeat). The effect when you die and go flying at the screen is visually appealing. The movement seemed decent and complemented the game play well. The sprites where not terrible, but not great.
Cannot rate due to lack of flash. Just so you know, FLASH IS DEAD. Chrome works because it is built in with flash. Personally I use an open source browser with no proprietary garbage in it and I wont even consider installing flash. Maybe it is a great game, but I will probably never be able to play it. :(
Hard! Graphics where minimal, but had style to them. It was a real challenge to balance upgrading the turrets vs upgrading the generator. An addition of "batteries" that can store generated energy would be nice if you continue with this idea.
Really good graphics, but there seemed to be a glitch where picking up power orbs slowed you down. :/
Not technically or mechanically impressive, but it's something. Although, the flappy bird minigame was near impossible for me it took me 4 rounds of the game to get to the lightbulb.
That sound design was wonderful! Everything had real wight to it, the ambient sound, light noise and voice lines all seemed heavy and even a little scary! It was in desperate need of something interesting to look at, maybe an underwater cave or actually seeing the octomutants, but still great job.
P.S I saw you had audio problems with my game, want to give it another try? I have fixed them! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/plasma-arena
Fixed the white dot problem on my game: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/plasma-arena
Linux version fails to run.
Extremely hard, not the platforming, that was well balanced. The shooting was just plain weird for me. Pressing a to go left and having the arrow keys not be related to directional shooting really threw me off. Still really good overall.
Extremely atmospheric.
Dear god I hate Caillou.
Nice idea, this is the kind of game that could only really "Work" on mobile.
Really good art! Some of the best I have seen this jam. Game play is simplistic, but fun for a few minutes. Doesnt really fit with the theme, but that is not necessarily a problem.
Awesome conect and art direction! Loved the potato puns and artistic coherence!
Odd idea, but you did make some strange decisions. Stick men are smaller than the slimes making attacking a very cautious process.
Not really a game in my book, this is a story through and through. I still really enjoyed it though. There was genuine tension when the harpy discovered the carnival's true nature.
Really nice feeling of cathing a hat after you throw it, polished to a sheen.
Pretty as sin. My only complaint is that the enviroment feels static, like I'm walking through a play set. The sound was a tad sparse, but I think it was servicable. Keep making games man, I like this style!
@sarrixx Try downloading this: https://www.openal.org/downloads/oalinst.zip and running oalinst.exe
@jasperarmstrong
The engine is written to be portable and I can port it to windows from linux because I have a windows machine. I do not have a mac to compile on so I cannot make a mac build.
More of a story than a game. I still found it enjoyable. I reccomend using a tool like this to make your game more acessable: https://www.codeproject.com/articles/25069/jsbasic-a-basic-to-javascript-compiler
The ship controlls like a messup up science experiment to allow a cheetah to be controlled via atari 2600 joystick. I really liked the reflection effect on the water. Is this a custom engine?
Looks weird, plays wierd. Overall just a hella weird game. It was definitely an intresting experience, I've never played anything like it.
Is this the special needs olypics? No joke though, nice game. A step up from the usual button mashing running simulator. It definitely isnt hard to obtain 1st place after a couple tries, but it wasnt dead easy.
Please upload your game to google drive/dropbox and submit the link.
I'll admit I do kind of hate "Find random shit while monsters chase you" games. But I still reaped some enjoyment from your entry. I relate on your art struggles, I usually end up using some stuff poorly cobbled together in blender and gimp, or just stuff ripped from other games.
Really great art-direction and mood. The decals on the walls where nicely placed. It probably would have been more fun with a sensible controll scheme, (Arrow keys,z for fireball, and x for gun maybe?). I have no clue what games you play, but i'm sure none of them have this wacky of a controll scheme.
I got to the part where you click on me.
I think the real fun to be had in this game is just discovering what will happen when you click the right thing. The whole mood of it just felt "right" in some strange sense. I think some sort of "ramp-up" to the confusion would be good to help those who can not intuit things well(like a quick assortment to clicks to introduce the "mechanics" if you can call them that). Many people who rate your game will not be very intelegent/able to figure things out/work through problems. Many others will figure things out very quickly and will become uninterested if you do not challenge them. The best ludum dare games design for both of these crowds in mind when designing their game. I have not mastered this myself, but I think this is what one should strive for.
Overall, definitely weird and unlike any other game I have ever played. For better or for worse.
Those sublte specular higlights on the bricks are sick man! I consider this entry a masterclass in the lighting aspect. How did you do it, with 3d lighting on 2d sprites? I remeber reading about spritelamp doing something like that. Or did you create a "light hull" model for the world, light that in realtime. And then apply the light calculated on that hull to the sprites?
Is that rugburn when he walks on grass?
@Rayne How the hell did you play my entire game so fast? It takes me at least a good 5 minutes to beat my game, but you had a reply in 5 seconds. Just out of curiosity did the audio work on windows?
@Thygrrr Linux build should be fixed!
@frostByte4k You can change the mouse sensitivity in the config file.
