LD36 — Ancient Technology

Revolution Wheel by kiguel182 2016-08-31T02:32:00

Fun jumping game. Needs work on design, the caveman world shouldn't look that digital with the straight pixel lines and black background.

Rat-tato Power by Jelinib 2016-08-31T07:53:00

Love how the background menu slowly pans out to introduce the game, it is a small detail but I like it!

Pyramid Dissemble by luquio 2016-08-31T11:16:00

Love the art and soundtrack. The game is a bit repetitive in general though. It's a bit hard to know if you're about to touch the pyramid when behind it

Artifact of the Ancients by Omiya Games 2016-08-31T08:20:00

I love the flipping mechanic. It opens so much room for interesting puzzles and you made good use of it, especially with the spikes. Nice reference of today's cloud usage!

Miky the Inuit by publicidadeba 2016-08-31T19:59:00

Excellent sprites and moody music, it gives you the sense of danger. The presentation is slick and love how clean it all is.

Agent 3310 by TomBuston 2016-08-31T18:55:00

Nice stylized emulator! I love the fact that the textures are pictures from the internet! Reminds me of those days... (2000s? wasn't so long ago)

Atlantis Builder by CyberStarLight 2016-09-02T20:12:00

I'm sure this took lots of hard work, lots of content to play with! Love the catchy soundtrack, art is amazing.

Kramchay Dig by Kramchay Dig 2016-09-03T05:21:00

So hard haha! Main animation and sounds are great!

Helepolis : Make It To the Siege by olkeencole 2016-08-31T01:52:00

Thanks! We've uploaded our entry on indiexpo.net

Storm O.S. by kapricornmedia 2016-08-31T16:55:00

Hi everyone, thank you all for your comments. @Steven Miller Thank you so much, we noted the issue and it has been fixed. The bar no longer flickers! @Geruhn, we added Pong merely as an easter egg :), it has no effect on the ending chat. @Nylonica Thank you so much <3 @Damdoshi Thank you, and yeah you can burn every program! @juaxix Hi! This would spoil it but... (check the engraving code!)

Storm O.S. by kapricornmedia 2016-09-01T15:37:00

We're extremely happy to be receiving this much feedback! Thank you all for playing our game and commenting.

@beatriz: Thank you! :)
@urielgamedev We're glad you found something new in this game that you like. If you want to see more, just keep an eye out for Kapricorn Media in the future!
@2011petia Thank you!
@Geruhn Yep, the upload/chat is the ending of the game. Thanks for playing! If you want to see more, keep an eye out for Kapricorn Media in the future ;)
@Four Quarters Thanks for pointing that out, we'll have to check it out.
@MewSoul Thank you! :)
@Culturebosh_games Thank you, thank you! It's alright, there's a bit of an unusual puzzle anyways, but we're glad you enjoyed the experience.
@fabsy Haha, we're flattered to see you call it "weird stuff" (seriously)
@nicso Thanks! This is the programmer typing, so I can't give you a full response, but our artist really really likes Moebius, so there's definitely some influence.
@PanicTheFirst Thank you so much!
@A Little Red Panda Thanks! Yeah, it might a little weird to figure out, but it does have something to do with text files and the programs that are installed in the terminal.
@TomBuston Thank you! And you are right, it is part of the experience ;)
@ajayajayaj Thank you for playing and commenting!
@cubotrox_toni Thank you so much!

@runvs: Thank you!
@Sean: Thank you so much! We're glad you liked it! Shure, point and click might have worked better. We were not aware of that bug! We shall fix it as soon as we can :)

Storm O.S. by kapricornmedia 2016-09-06T20:49:00

@pixelpotions: Thank you so much!
@AnaGF: Thank you Ana. The computer is there for you to run a specific set of programs to create an ".exe" file. At first, you may begin by creating a textfile and write something on it. Then... your instinct shall guide you :)

Storm O.S. by kapricornmedia 2016-09-06T21:00:00

@hermetic: We're so glad you liked it! We talked about this and we are seriously considering making a fully developed game in this style.

@ikroth: Thank you!!

@CyberStarLight: Thank you! Select the ball first :)

Psychic Squid by Mottafier 2016-09-03T04:12:00

The puzzle mechanics in this game are super fun, I particularly like the one were you control like 60 blocks at the same time. The caveman death farts :)

Cybodestructor Bizarre Galactic Laser Grandpa by timonerosHolandeses 2016-09-01T21:56:00

Yes! RetroWave!!! Nice graphics but controls are a bit stiff. Soundtrack is perfect!

Debug Quest by ikroth 2016-09-01T21:38:00

One of my favorites so far. It is digital, spooky and old. I think you really nailed the feel when the player enters Eden Corp. It is simple yet interesting, it's like a cyberpunk Mario Land for GameBoy. I would say the jumping is a bit excessive. But nice game overall!

Stoneheart by raspofabs 2016-09-01T21:45:00

The perfect pixel art and jarring soundtrack make this one of my favorites! Elegant, simple.

Reflexum: The Path of Light by ALeal_Dev 2016-09-01T21:51:00

Fun game! d

Reflexum: The Path of Light by ALeal_Dev 2016-09-01T21:52:00

*different interesting mechanics. A bit confusing at first. Nice intro and soundtrack!

Ubuq by cubotrox_toni 2016-08-31T19:32:00

Love the art in this game! The glowing details on the rock engravings, the pyramids, the trees!

Robot Forest by Thrainsa 2016-09-04T18:10:00

Nice graphics!!! Love the bow sprite and the robotic companion. Getting hit is super easy though, maybe having a health bar? Amazing work! Music is super catchy

You Invented Fire by thauber 2016-08-31T19:03:00

"you proteted man's first invention for 12 segs."I love this! love the moody high contrasted tones. Congrats

An Historic Defense by hermetic 2016-09-03T05:10:00

Nice premise! Made it to round 4

The Last Machine Before the World Ends by urielgamedev 2016-08-31T18:41:00

Fun and hard game(especially without a mouse). Great mechanics! I love the sprites and the accumulator's gas animation

Grampy Katz in: The Big Date by MeowzaGames 2016-09-01T21:26:00

A work of art, beautiful.

Pyramid by metalhaze 2016-08-31T00:50:00

Very fun and challenging! I like the blending of 3D with 2D sprites. The music is catchy and it adds to the genre.

Tomb Of The Ancients by TombOfTheAncients 2016-08-31T08:38:00

Fun game and amazing work on the 3D modeling and texturing. Congrats on the hard and ambitious work!

Sorter of Antiques by alfadur 2016-08-31T01:17:00

Interesting idea! I think it deserves more content!

Bricks for Anubis by jscottmiller 2016-08-31T08:50:00

I love how progression feels bigger with each zoom. Nice game overall

anachroma by zillix 2016-09-02T18:39:00

Mechanics are amazing. Moving is super sensitive though!

Gear Kitty by Raiyumi 2016-08-31T11:31:00

Amazing. Beautiful and straightforward. Very polished and interesting cog mechanic btw

Raiders of the Ancient Technology by runvs 2016-08-31T20:05:00

Amazing work! I love how the enemies attack you, its simple, yet efficient.

Earthling Exhibits by Lacaranian 2016-08-31T07:47:00

Bold graphic style, its unique, and it adds so well to the music and the jarring tone of the game.

Dungeon by Phaix 2016-09-03T06:22:00

Love the concept of this game! Main player reminds me a bit of Harry Potter! I think damage donde to the player should be more instant though, so you know why you're getting the hearts. Maybe a healthbar?

Dungeon by Phaix 2016-09-03T06:23:00

done*

An Ancient Mistery by thiagofr 2016-09-02T17:57:00

Interesting game, very challenging puzzle! I like the mystery / crime-case aesthetic. As Allthebees mentioned, the player could only move in one direction (pressing W and D doesn't move the player diagonally), which felt odd.

However, I was really intent on solving the puzzle. I got that I had to decrypt the word on the paper using a Caesar cipher, but I didn't know by how many letters you had to shift the code. I tried 9 for 9 letters in "Cleopatra", or 7 for "Cleopatra VII Philophator", but neither gave me a sensible word.

Kungo by kingpirux 2016-08-31T01:08:00

Very nice premise! Love the caveman character. The game itself is very confusing though... There are so many things o screen I cant focus on what needs to be done.

Obsolete by adsilcott 2016-08-31T02:26:00

This is so good! The Ego life bar is so clever! and the detail: Life of the Party haha! It criticizes today's obsession with iphones and makes the gameboy look really old. Good drawings! Shame its a bit broken in the 3D parts of the game

DYSCOVR by Sean 2016-08-31T08:44:00

Love the design of it. I like the precise, terminal-like look of the left side, then the trippy on the right side of the screen

The Machine by jeremyfa 2016-08-31T07:27:00

Great work! interesting simple solution to a mysterious futuristic story

Aliens vs Ancient Indians by paruthidotexe 2016-08-31T18:28:00

Very fun shooting game! Nice soundtrack.

The Language of the Gods by ladybenko 2016-08-31T11:27:00

Amazing premise! Shame it ended so soon. I love the pixel art and the artifact sprite, it reminded me of HAL from 2001

Yggdrasil by AnaGF 2016-08-31T19:16:00

So much good stuff in here. The cloning mechanic is so good, the jumping though is a bit unresponsive while moving

Ancient Drone by komilll 2016-09-02T20:08:00

Awesome entry, animations are great. Character sprites are super nice too

Blunderbuss by Steven Miller 2016-08-31T18:51:00

Im waiting to get my hands on a Windows to play this. Looks amazing!

AnSynth Technology by xclementx 2016-09-01T21:23:00

I freaking love this.

NEONAUT by pixelpotions 2016-09-02T20:20:00

I want to go further in this so bad, but it is broken for me. Amazing pixel art and music. Love the retrowavey soundtrack when the game opens, also: "Potion OS" haha awesome.

LD39 — Running out of Power

Batterycorp by Aurel300 2017-08-03T20:38:21Z

Absolutely loved this game! Using the OS UI-type environment to navigate the world was so original, and the puzzles were well designed for such a short amount of time. You managed to explore many different puzzle mechanics, and some of them made me actually laugh, like the nodding your head one! :)

This game takes it all in innovation. The soundtrack was cool, and the graphics went well with everything, but it's clear where you devoted most of your time. Loved the game, great job!

Haven't managed to get the good ending, not sure what to do in my office or in the 4th floor with the shadow. Maybe I'll keep trying.

Saturnalia by graebor 2017-08-03T19:12:40Z

In terms of ambience and aesthetics, this game is wonderful. You get immersed in this mysterious world from the get go, with all its mysterious objects and particles flying around and very intense, glowing light and reflections. The audio also complements this really well. It's clear that you focused your attention on getting the graphics, mood, and audio just right. I also love the animation of the credits in the corner, it's a nice touch.

In terms of gameplay, it took me a while to understand how the puzzles worked. Though I couldn't figure out a strategy better than guess and check, in some way this complemented the mysterious vibe of the game. However, it wasn't clear how the theme fit in to the game.

This is one of the most polished entries I've played so far. Great job!

Superbman by coomzy 2017-08-03T22:50:32Z

Very simple gameplay, but it was surprisingly fun once I realized there were two different jump types (should've read the controls first I suppose). It was very hard, and I would appreciate some checkpoints (or maybe there were some, and I just wasn't good enough to get there haha). The sounds were really funny too. Good job!

LittleBots by Joe Cowman 2017-08-02T00:49:10Z

Funniest game I've played so far. I was very confused at first, but then figured out the OP strat of hopping under the trail of little bots, seeing just how fast I can point and spam right click, and then walking through the hoops. At one point, I managed to break the physics engine and all the little bots started fluttering about and pulled me straight down. It was hilarious.

Soporific: A Bedtime Story by paracatgames 2017-08-02T00:05:14Z

This was adorable. The kid's reactions were just so genuine and funny in a truly childlike way, I guess that's what happens when the game is inspired by a real kid :)

Like amras0000, I tried picking all the strange options and it was really funny to hear G shut me down. Loved the artwork. Repusv pointed out the audio was a little buggy. I was also having trouble with it. But the visuals made up for it! Great job.

Feed the machine by Vivoubos 2017-08-03T20:53:33Z

Great game! The sounds are hilarious, loved that you had controller support. The last part was way too difficult, and it also wasn't that clear by the end that I could feed the machine anything in order to get some power back, so it was impossible for a few couple runs. It was fun to play though, very intense and fast paced once the missiles and boss attacks started coming in.

Good job :)

Plasma Arena by red-fan-games 2017-08-02T22:03:53Z

This is great! Love the Doom-Quake feel!

UFO Abduction by dreadloaf 2017-08-02T21:41:06Z

Haha!! Poor humans! Simple mechanics but fun overall! There should be more progression to it! Maybe humans getting stronger?

Defend Home: Mars by sgt3v 2017-08-03T22:42:28Z

Loved this!! Nice models and textures. A little repetitive after a while, but nicely done for a 48 hour entry!

Heal The Dark Lord! by Coauctor 2017-08-02T22:42:25Z

Gorgeous art and animations! The Dark Lord and the little minions are perfect! Took me a while to understand the mechanics though!

Spacy adventure by egordorichev 2017-08-03T22:38:45Z

Amazing! Very well polished and good game feel. The visual effects are cool, though sometimes they can be a bit cluttering and confusing. Enjoyed playing a couple run throughs. Great job! Impressive game for a compo.

Towers of Power by terryg 2017-08-02T21:17:14Z

That was fun! Loved the menu! Takes a while to understand the mechanics though!

Devil's Curse by herniewise 2017-08-02T23:17:07Z

This was so much fun! Solid AI and animations. Also love the music and quirky sounds!

Burnup Blade by DragonZBW 2017-08-02T01:36:48Z

Love to see a LD game that feels well polished! The animations look great, and the visuals and audio combination is quite immersive. Those ball enemies are really OP, though! Felt like it was hard to aim in the vertical direction. Maybe it would be better if the sword hits had a larger vertical hitbox? Also the balls chain hitting you was very unforgiving.

Overall, great game, great graphics, love the sword swinging animation details. Good job!

Alienation by Robber 2017-08-02T13:47:54Z

This game had some amazing atmosphere and immersion factors. Great use of (I'm assuming) Unity's particle system, really takes effects to the next level.

Have to agree with most people that it was too easy. Could've racked up more fun points if it was more challenging or if something changed along the way. Overall, good, immersive game! Managed to turn on all generators.

Escape Velocity by Klowner 2017-08-02T21:29:46Z

THAT WAS FUN!! Loved the background and the ship. I imagine this being a prototype for a possible bigger game! Also, great moment when the ship starts crashing!

Mad Trax by boats 2017-08-03T22:47:37Z

Simple premise but finely conceptualized! Loved the retrowave reference in this, fits perfectly!

DOHMIERE by Jesus Fermin Villar 2017-08-02T23:04:09Z

Great entry! The art and mechanic serve the plot really well. Quick suggestion: You could make a small animation for the buttons when you click them, or show them somewhere. That way you'll know when you're actually typing!

SolarPower by jesusnoseq 2017-08-03T22:58:12Z

Great, simple compo entry! Love the glowyness of everything, makes it feel star-like and spacey. I think the use of solar power as the theme was great. It was hard to get used to controlling the ship, but it was fun once I did. Good job :)

The Shutdown by Silas Reinagel 2017-08-02T22:46:35Z

The amount of assets in this game is unbelievable. Good job!

Also, the rendering of the old man in the menu is awesome

Lantern by Kaban 2017-08-01T23:32:46Z

Really loved the atmosphere created in this game. I felt the mechanics were too simple, and in essence it's a plain old shooter, but the art style really comes through and gets your nerves going. Really had fun trying to beat high scores, though I probably didn't do all that great.

Potential Energy by Carsen D. 2017-08-02T22:16:19Z

Interesting! The fact that you talk to boxes under spotlights adds to the dreamy, broken reality atmosphere.

Unfueled by spudboy 2017-08-04T02:50:49Z

This was really fun! Very creative take on the mechanics. The UFO sucked so much I always tried to avoid it. It was a lot of fun learning and getting the hang of it. It's a pretty hard game though, only managed to get slightly over 1k.

The music makes it so much more intense, the graphics nice and simple, and most importantly the game is fun :)

The Box of Power by PNghasemi 2017-08-02T00:33:35Z

The game might be unfinished, but the visuals look like a finished game :) The last level was tricky. I was very confused by the moving mechanics at first in general, but the last level's small "aha" moment convinced me. Would have loved to see more levels. Maybe try to spread out your working time more evenly next time between visuals, mechanics, etc?

Also, I think WASD/arrow movement would work well here.

Anyhow, great game, even if unfinished!

Adrift by Brendan Engelman 2017-08-02T21:06:00Z

Nice music! Loved the hearing through doors mechanic! One suggestion: Placing the gui elements in one place can help you read what´s happening on the screen easier!

Delivery To The Underpass by Bocodillo 2017-08-04T03:24:50Z

NUUUU as soon as you made me walk for such a long time at the end I knew something was coming up. Really liked the game, great job with the polished feel and the music. I liked how the music volume decreased with power (that's a thing, right?). Also, the bloom level was nice on the light posts, but you might have overdone it with the mines, hehe.

Great job overall!

The Light City of Karola by davidcollado 2017-08-04T03:05:27Z

This game feels very polished and complete, great job! Big props for using a custom engine too, I'm getting too used to seeing the "Made by Unity" splash screen around here. I loved the feel of this game, the aesthetics, and the sound. Using a sparkling circle around the character as a power indicator works so well as opposed to a bar on the side of the screen or something, because your attention is always there.

I loved some of the level design, especially the last part of the last level where you had to drop down instead of continuing on straight. Also the running out of power mechanic felt very tied up with the game style; it was a nice touch that you didn't actually die from falling, you just kept falling and eventually ran out of power.

Don't really have any complaints about the game, other than it's not particularly innovative. Of course, it could be longer, but this is amazing given the time constraints. Great job!

Edison Lamp by Ariandor 2017-08-02T22:55:31Z

The art is great! I love the flies and the detail in the bulb itself! Maybe add more gameplay?

Saito's Transgression by Kapricorn Media 2017-08-02T02:22:09Z

@richard-bunn @amarcu Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it.

@dragonzbw Thank you so much! Really appreciate your comment. We're aware some things might not be immediately obvious. For that part, the wizard is clearly too old and weak to cross those spikes. But who isn't? Think back to what you've interacted with so far ;) Let us know how it goes!

Scale of Life by ilya_kozlov 2017-08-03T23:12:25Z

Very cute happy game! The graphics are awesome and it has a very jucy feel! A bit more of progression would be awesome though! Good job.

The Last Question by Terribly Awesome Games 2017-08-02T22:21:02Z

This is actually one of my favorite short stories from Asimov! Nice tribute and gameplay overall!

Wayside : A world awaits you by TheCodeFactory 2017-08-02T00:22:50Z

Fun game! I really appreciate the clean art style, it makes everything very clear and straightforward. Props for that. I did find the charged jump mechanic to be a little annoying at times, though. A lot of the challenge right now is in knowing how far the jump will take you, which is hard to predict. I think it would be better if this was more intuitive, and the challenge was more on traversing the level itself.

Great job, had fun playing it :)

Last Train Out by amarcu 2017-08-01T23:17:02Z

AAAHH! I FELL OFF THE TRAIN! This was a lot of fun to play, and very intense once the boulders start hitting. Visuals and audio come together very well to set a fast-paced mood. Managing all the wheels WHILE also remembering to jump past the train's platforms was the most challenging part. Also very direct implementation of the theme. Fun game overall! :)

With Extra Steps by ArticNet 2017-08-02T21:45:56Z

Wish I had an android! This sure looks amazing!

Super Power Frenzy by AlexanderTeaH 2017-08-03T02:07:22Z

This is great! I had sooo much fun, definitely a 5/5 in the Fun category. It takes some time to get used to moving around and actually saving your power to pick up the pink power ups. I think it would be better if the weapon powerups weren't random (I think they were random? at some point it downgraded to my starting weapon). I expected the weapon to upgrade, not just to change around randomly. It's also interesting that way I suppose, since you're constantly trying to dodge the white boxes if you get something OP. Or maybe it's an OP / power balance? Very interesting regardless!

Loved the graphics, very clean and to the point, though sometimes it was hard to see the enemy ships. The soundtrack is awesome, though since you opted out of audio I'm guessing you didn't make it. All in all great game!

The Dictater by Don Fouts 2017-08-02T17:36:57Z

Love the art direction! Specially how the map is laid out! Very good pacing and smoothness overall!

Lost Soul by daviddiagonza 2017-08-03T21:01:45Z

Nice game! It's funny because our game at some point uses a similar switch-control-between-units mechanic, and it's something we've been exploring a lot. It was surprising to see somebody else do a similar thing. The graphics were great, the mood and atmosphere were immersive and well polished.

Overall great game, though with that level of graphics and audio I would have enjoyed if it wasn't that much about replaying every few seconds and more about fewer, longer playthroughs, if that makes sense.

Defender of the Energy! by BesSlaaneshi 2017-08-02T21:57:15Z

The music is perfect, very retro-wavey. Thank you for taking the time to actually explain the story! Nice art and slick attacking animation

The Breach by Vlad Chechyotkin 2017-08-03T23:03:19Z

Great mechanic, solid pixel art. Makes you think of what you´re doing after dying 30 times

There's No Place Like Home by Remzo 2017-08-02T00:18:07Z

I loved it! This gets surprisingly stressful and intense once you've almost charged up your spaceship. I liked the vibrant, in-your-face coloring. I see you mentioned the TV was put there as a joke, that's great. If it actually displayed something it would've been great, though. While I was playing, I was just confused by it.

Simple game that, I think, is very effective. I wouldn't say it's too difficult. It's difficult enough to keep you on your toes, which is always the ideal difficulty!

Maze Charger by Veak 2017-08-03T23:07:43Z

Great job for your first game and LD entry! Though I could see some of the stuff you used was directly pulled from Unity (hehe), I absolutely loved the lighting choice. You could've used a typical flashlight light, but with those square patches it made everything seem much more strange and mysterious. The music also provided a very eerie mood to the game, which I enjoyed.

Just a sidenote, I had a hard time reading the energy percentage text when the labyrinth was well powered and brighter. Maybe you should change the font color as the labyrinth gets brighter, so it always contrasts with the background?

Anyhow, good job :)

The Crossing by Crabman 2017-08-02T22:36:24Z

Nice background art and music!

LD49 — Unstable

Trailer Trials by thomz12 2021-10-06T03:55:35Z

Amazing! Love the simple graphics and good job at teaching the mechanics to the player. Super hard to reverse but feel accomplished when succeeding at it.

Puzzled Love by Yaroslav Kravtsov 2021-10-09T10:04:24Z

Sad story, amazing concept of putting an unstable relationship together piece by piece. Art was very unique and music as well. Great entry!

Bullet Hellements by Fiote 2021-10-06T06:10:17Z

This is actually pretty fun once you get used to the mechanics. Letting yourself get hit enough so you can get back up and shoot back. Really appreciate the nice pixel art graphics and good job tutorializing the first part.

Meltdown: The Complete Guide to Reactor Maintenance. by triggthediscovery 2021-10-06T03:22:45Z

Interesting concept. The 90s looking 3d graphics and jarring music add to the gritty chernobyl-esque atmosphere. On the other hand I felt like it was asking too much from me at the beginning, removing a bit of the fun aspect of it.

Stack Droid Saves The Party by Shawn Beck 2021-10-09T02:43:00Z

What an amazing masterclass in aesthetics! Loved the intro screen, the text and in general the graphics. For some reason mouse sensitivity was almost unusable, but other than that it was pretty fun.

Ludumium by blaster391 2021-10-09T09:44:08Z

WOAH! Amazing idea, so addicting. Gameplay makes a lot of sense, chemistry is literally hard to handle. The simple graphic design is to the point, and the idea of introducing volatile elements that float up with the Bunsen burner is genius! Congratulations! Favorite entry so far.

From World 1, With Love by Kapricorn Media 2021-10-06T13:19:02Z

Thank you all for the kind comments! Definitely agree that we needed to introduce & tutorialize the core gameplay a bit better. We would have liked to include a few more levels to improve the pacing/learning curve, but we ran out of time. The last level (with the tower) has a bit too many new ideas to take in, though we're glad to see some people actually got through it :)

@pauljohnprogramming you **can** save the bird, actually! It just requires a bit of a dirty trick. You can save everybody in the game.

Catastrophy by Fis 2021-10-09T00:20:45Z

noooooooo I couldn't save them all :sob: :sob: very cute game! As some people pointed out, the controls are a bit unforgiving sometimes and hard to use consistently, though I think if I spent a bit more time figuring out the best exact jump spots, I could have won. Nice work on the graphics & audio side of things, though!

Monster Lab by candycat93 2021-10-08T04:06:30Z

Cool idea, I can definitely see you put a lot of work and thought into the system behind it, like generating all the descriptions for the creatures. I wasn't able to understand what each lab really meant and how it affected the generated creature - with some more work on the presentation of the tasks and the labs, this seems like something that would be fun to play around with. But it was still funny to see all the weird generated creatures!

Sire Sleipnir by Klosterliv 2021-10-07T01:41:40Z

LMAO IT IS TIME TO UNSTABLE

this was amazing. was not expecting all that red... stomp stomp. splat. wow.

🕷💩Poopy Parker💩🕷 by TheJunt 2021-10-21T00:02:59Z

Amazing entry, spent most of the time laughing at the sounds. Really appreciate the small details like the intro screen and the animations. Its a bit hard to get used to the physics of it, that could use a bit of tweaking. Found that spamming both clicks made Poopy Parker shoot turds like a machine gun. Accidental or not, that mechanic was so entertaining to do on its own. Great job!!

Portal Problems! by LadyMistLeaf 2021-10-07T01:32:10Z

Pretty neat game! I think I'm gonna start calling wrenches "twist assists" now :) Just to throw some improvement idea - I had to go back and read the text instructions to figure out that the middle text was the "hint". Maybe you could have put the hint by the PC/drop box instead to make that clearer visually in-game. Good work on the voice acting! And well done overall

Reactor by Birdwards 2021-10-09T00:32:15Z

Super creative game! I like how there are two different gameplay "modes" for growing and shrinking, and each feels risky and rewarding in its own way. The controls were a bit hard to get used to, though that's not necessarily a bad thing. Also, it's a nice touch that the shapes and colors of the elements add up to their compounds/combined elements. Very cool overall! And nice soundtrack :)

Unfairly Unstable Unfun Game by Alexthehuman2 2021-10-08T23:23:16Z

Unfairly [x]

Unstable [x]

Unfun [ ] I felt afraid as I approached that continue sign... that falling platform there might be the most plain-looking and silent jump scare I've ever experienced, hahaha. So it was not Unfun, but rather quite an emotional journey!

Good job with this. If you were going for rage-inducing gameplay, you clearly got it right. The main menu animations were a nice touch :)

Uranium-236 by XeduR 2021-10-08T18:42:33Z

9.3 billion kWh!! That one felt like a good run. I really like playing original ideas like these and trying to figure out what's going on, so this was quite fun. The game fits the theme very well - a few times the core was about to explode, camera shaking like crazy, the area is full of "hot" particles, and I just had to spam click around the code and pray that particles would cancel out and let the cold ones reach the middle. Very hectic, unstable vibe for sure!

Spook It Up by ToonLinck 2021-10-06T03:09:28Z

Loving the Halloween theme! Music and assets are good.

Drillbit Junker by nanobuilder 2021-10-09T03:01:31Z

Love the aesthetic. Had to restart a few times since i couldn't figure out what to do, but once i found the prompts it was golden. Would have loved some music, but all in all it was super fun to play!

Unstable cars by StefGrizzly 2021-10-09T09:13:28Z

This was such a fun game! Feels really solid on the controls and the art looks really nice as well. It gets hard really quickly from level 1 to 2 which is fun but kind of overwhelming at first. Aside from that really great entry. I suggest putting some images in the description to get more playthroughs.

Snake Using Windows by Benjamin Halko 2021-10-09T00:38:07Z

Hahahaha, this is amazing. Very creative way to re-implement a classic, and it actually feels surprisingly smooth considering what it is. Great twist to the theme.

Witches Brew by wertyyytrew 2021-10-06T03:39:17Z

Love the music! Fun concept!

Beff Jezos: Time Shift Manager by Sine Nomine 2021-10-07T04:35:22Z

Amazing work on the puzzles! Voiceover is super funny, but came in a bit unexpectedly and got mixed with the music, making it a bit confusing what he was saying. The idea and concept are very well thought out.

Lightning Ball Rampage by neputevshina 2021-10-09T02:37:14Z

The music goes very well with the theme and the kind of gameplay! I gotta agree with some of the other comments though that the gameplay feels kind of off when trying to control the ball. Other than that great job!

Unstable: Incendiary Cargo by LucasGlass 2021-10-05T22:25:00Z

This was so fun but so hard!! To be fair, I was making it hard for myself by trying to go full speed, even though I know the real timer is just the gas bar. It was fun trying to figure out what the fastest bump-free/bump-cancelling path was. Also highlight of my play time was one time where I floored the gas and did a crazy jump on the hill after the 1st checkpoint and almost got to the valley of the 3rd checkpoint. Obviously exploded on impact, lol...

Well done overall ! It might be nice if it was more obvious where the bumps are visually. The terrain graphically all blended together so it was hard to pick up on height cues. Maybe that's intentional though - definitely added some suspense.

also made me laugh at "your kids might tolerate this kind of driving, but these bombs won't" haha

In Balance by OlayColay 2021-10-06T06:15:53Z

Amazing! Really enjoyed reading the second entries when interacting with objects. Beating the monsters is really hard, but I appreciate the care to introduce the world at the very beginning.

Babysitting Simulator by LeXian 2021-10-08T04:35:37Z

I did it!!! Am I ready to be a parent now?

Haha, great game, I loved the Super Mom character :) The controls were a bit confusing at first as people have pointed out, but really all I needed clarified was how to kill monsters. The rest I was able to pick up on after a few tries (and after knowing that I was supposed to use the mouse). I really liked the concept though, I think the message of the game was very clear and well delivered. I also think it's pretty well tuned after understanding the controls - I was never breezing through or feeling like it was too unfair. Good job !

Fractured Space by JesusOnWheels 2021-10-08T03:55:46Z

This game will probably feel too absurd/abstract for most people but I loved it! I like how you can become a floating pile of junk with a will of its own, floating through space. I can definitely imagine a much higher production value version of this - kinda reminds me of the ending of the game Inside. The mood of this game was great. What are those color blobs? And the colorful creatures chasing you? So much mystery... you really built the vibe very well. The camera did act kinda weird sometimes, but otherwise I think I understood and appreciated what you were going for.

the cards we're dealt by rainedoe 2021-10-06T04:23:23Z

Great entry. The art and music really set the mood for a game about life. Most of my outcomes where feeling manic or angry, reminds me how hard is to feel good when you are in a low emotional state. Great job!

Paper Route by OllieOA 2021-10-06T05:45:29Z

That was so much fun to play. It can get tricky at parts but when you get used to the mechanics it gets more and more rewarding. Great work on the art and physics engine.

HexFall by GAME_RS 2021-10-06T13:38:22Z

Very cool, well-crafted puzzle game! The ideas are well presented and build nicely on top of each other. It was pretty rewarding to figure it all out and plan out your moves. However [[ SPOILER-ish ALERT GO PLAY FIRST ]]: I think I was able to jump farther than I was supposed to, 2 tiles, which didn't seem intentional (?) and maybe made it easier than it should have been at the end.

Great job overall though :)

Marble Sky by Zathnic 2025-10-12T15:23:24Z

I played this much longer than I thought, haha. Great job on the music and sound effects, I think that was my favorite part. It felt nice to speed up the marble with that scratchy rolling sound effect, kinda made me wish the levels were more designed around going fast somehow!

GreedyDude by Nnnnneeeedddd 2025-10-10T18:11:29Z

I think what I liked the most were the controls. It's such a joy to control IMO and the idea is also really funny. I found really annoying that the tips at the beginning weren't things you could toggle off, but you had to walk away from./ Idk if that makes sense, but overall super fun!

GreedyDude by Nnnnneeeedddd 2025-10-10T18:32:55Z

@nnnnneeeedddd exactly! Either way it's a really minor thing. Overall I had a blast haha

Fragmentation by Flatgub 2025-10-11T17:23:38Z

Awesome game, I had a lot of fun! Although though some parts required finer movement than I felt the game really allowed. Maybe I would have separated made the "climb to ledge" button different from the wall-kick, because I found myself accidentally doing one instead of the other a lot. The timing of jumping and the momentum of the character could also be a bit unforgiving at times.

I thought the game progression was very well designed, and even though the art assets are relatively simple, you put them into a coherent aesthetic, which is a great move! Loved the brutalist building style, and it really fits the parkour vibe. Also, great job with the audio :)

STAVROS by designernap 2025-10-10T18:21:00Z

I CANNOT believe this game has a trailer HAHA how cool.

Gen0 by tomrijnbeek 2025-10-20T20:55:15Z

Quite challenging to play past some point as people said, but it was really funny and quite a unique idea! I really liked the blue-screen as the game over screen haha. I feel more empathetic with the OS cleaning up program memory now.

Recycling War by FiveCyclops 2025-10-10T18:04:09Z

I think the idea for the game works, but the controls are kinda clunky and maybe the physics for the recyclable things are sometimes too floaty. It did give me a chuckle, so I did enjoy it!

Trivia Hart in "The Case of the Porcelain Tricorn" by 100th_Coin 2025-10-10T18:07:49Z

LMAO I love the art and the voice acting. It's so much fun to see this much dedication put into an entry! Even things like the smoothness and attention to detail of the main menu is really pleasant to experience.

I also can't read sheet music ):

Nightfall by Rongo Matane 2025-10-15T05:12:28Z

Amazing experience, the game feels great and is responsive to everything you do, the intensity of the sound and music rising as the creatures approach, the ash particles floating in the air, the characters and their quaint little personalities. There's a mysterious story but somehow you understand. So cool!!

We're so sorry to the 3 reviewers who downloaded a buggy executable! The issue should be fixed now (: @antarktis @gat @faust-mi

King's Vision by Kapricorn Media 2025-10-10T18:51:14Z

@tunggd Yeah, I can understand how it's a bit convoluted! The journal entries give you clues as to how to advance or what to do next. Try feeding the crabs a lot of jellys

King's Vision by Kapricorn Media 2025-10-10T18:53:23Z

@dualithe Try grabbing the green jellies with 'E' and feeding them to the crabs! Or choose your favorite grab and give him all the jellies hehe something probably happens.

King's Vision by Kapricorn Media 2025-10-10T18:55:36Z

@alexandra-suprunovskaya Thank you! The crabs help you get into the other areas once they morph into something else. Try feeding them the jellies

King's Vision by Kapricorn Media 2025-10-10T18:55:53Z

@topteddy The king doesn't really do a lot up until the end hehe

King's Vision by Kapricorn Media 2025-10-10T19:10:58Z

@alexandra-suprunovskaya You gotta feed i think it's 4-5 to one single crab and then he'll transform. It can get a bit tough since they turn back you are right!

King's Vision by Kapricorn Media 2025-10-10T19:18:37Z

@someone glad you liked it and reached the end haha!

King's Vision by Kapricorn Media 2025-10-10T19:38:06Z

@atsh Woah, thanks for taking the time to give us feedback of such high quality! Tons of value here so we can tweak things a bit more.

King's Vision by Kapricorn Media 2025-10-10T21:13:00Z

We made small tweaks to the Journal text so people can get a bit farther into the game without having to come and read the comments.

@rionisse Just one other ending that you found! We're glad you loved it!

King's Vision by Kapricorn Media 2025-10-17T15:28:18Z

@felix-kern Thanks for playing! Glad you like the animations also, they're the pride and joy of our visuals guy - and you were so close to finishing it!

@xeridian Thanks! No plans for a web version, but we're in the talks of making this a full game maybe haha

@keys-presser We would absolutely love to continue working on this. There's just something about bestiaries that moves me haha, maybe it's playing FF12 early in my life.

@basmet I'm glad you enjoyed it! You actually got close to a secret ending hehe

@shaggy Thank you (:

@amande-dooce Glad to hear it's intuitive in some parts! One of our biggest challenges (and I think in general too) is to make the game not a complete esoteric mystery and have it be something that can be fun. Oh and that was the secret ending! haha glad you got it. I appreciate your comment, it really makes us want to continue developing the game.

@anima-animus049 thanks so much! (I'm the music guy)

King's Vision by Kapricorn Media 2025-10-19T15:25:43Z

@yibirabbit007 Thanks for the feedback! Agreed, there's a lot we need to clarify after breaking the stone. We'll be tweaking some of these things once ratings are over. Giving the amber to the king is actually an unintentional easter egg - you're just supposed to "re-hydrate" it in any of the pools above. We should def clarify that in the description.

The Haunting of Rebus Manor by Dan Davis 2025-10-15T03:39:42Z

Reaaaally love the environment and the 3d + Pixel art combo. However, for some reason I simply could not figure out the riddles. (Sorry!) Would be interesting to have the riddles be related to what's visually IN the room, so that roaming with friends and looking around is part of the mechanic.

Collect or Die by Jin9310 2025-10-15T04:22:14Z

The time limit is sooo punishing (for me). I love the art style and the colors, and it's very rewarding when you get far enough. I love that I am a moving monitor!

Spore Scout by Trusty 2025-10-13T23:58:55Z

Haha funny music and audio in general, and the player 3D model is super cute! Well done. I didn't stick around long enough to find all of them, but I found most.

I did notice that there's no penalty to pressing a wrong key in the mushroom picking sequence, which makes it quite easy to do by just spamming keys lol

IRIS by Frau Blut-Kranz 2025-10-12T22:15:34Z

Nice game with good audio! I was confused with the mechanics, didn't really understand the "UP DOWN LEFT RIGHT" message. By the end I was just trying to dodge all the mobs, but it was quite hard to get through.

Ghost Collector by Ausstein 2025-10-20T21:05:03Z

Great game, I had fun playing! Took me a while to understand how the vacuum worked (I was just trying to run over the powerups). But everything made sense after a few rounds. Great mood as well, though I'd turn up the brightness a bit and add something else to compensate to the spooky vibe without making it too hard to see what's going on.

IUTBADIAFWBIGTTT9SNICTATMIT by Furisubi 2025-10-10T18:40:03Z

The title of this game is HILARIOUS and very creative! I also really like the music and I think it really matches the whole idea that the game is set in the 90's.

The phased out pixel aesthetic also reaches into my heart. What a lovely experience.

Tax Collector Millenium Overdrive by elq 2025-10-10T18:59:05Z

This is BY FAR my favorite entry so far. Fixed camera gameplay always makes me smile and the whole vibe is immaculate. Love your artistic vision for this.

Galactic Data Collector by Gat 2025-10-14T05:00:52Z

Ok, Papers Please is one of my fav games so this is an instant 10/10 for me. Please release this on steam because I will buy it.

The Legend of the Mondrokko by ditam 2025-10-12T22:24:06Z

Nice game  I liked how you implemented the searching-under-the-trees vibe. It's a simple but convincing mechanic. I had the same issue as @ynnon where, after maybe the 4th or 5th round of picking mushrooms, the guy did not pay me for any of them ever again

Huge props for building your own game engine from scratch!! I'm the programmer for our team and partially went down that path (used raylib, which is probably a similar experience to HTML canvas). Definitely makes it more fun and challenging haha

Wizard of toilets by BadPiggy 2025-10-11T17:38:48Z

Awesome, feels great to play! Simple but very cohesive style, and the reload + flush mechanic adds a lot of interest to how you decide to clear different packs of goblins.

Quit Stalin by Eugenik 2025-10-12T00:28:35Z

What a great experience haha I think I always have the most fun when interfacing with weird and absurd ideas. The voice acting and recording weren't of the best quality and I think that hindered the enjoyment quite a bit. Also, I don't think this applied to the theme to well??

Mars Collector by Alopar 2025-10-14T05:05:33Z

Somehow reminds me of FTL but with better music! Loved the animation of the guy that gives you missions. Solid entry (:

Mosquito's feast by Gastoon 2025-10-10T18:43:11Z

The same thing that happened to @ryusui happened to me. The hand made me lol in a good way! I think overall it's a clever idea for a game.

Demon Army Soul Collector by D3kryption 2025-10-12T18:08:13Z

Great job with the voices! I also noticed some pathing issues like other people, the most common one was that Mancy and Grunt's pathfinding didn't seem to be aware of each other, so they would just run face to face haha. With some cleanup on the controls and pathing, this really felt like Chapter 1 of an epic adventure story, with a big battle where Mancy brings all the collected souls to life and fights or turns against Nima

The Collector by Kazuren 2025-10-10T19:09:10Z

What a great instant analogue horror classic! 5/5!!

The Collector by Kazuren 2025-10-10T19:09:24Z

Also, the song was really nice

Reapers' Toll by dualithe 2025-10-14T05:09:48Z

I appreciate the simple controls, but the game is super brutal haha. Gotta sit down and play it for a bit to figure it out. Glad to see some of the harder games on ludum.

To Serve Collectors🍽️ by Tan90 2025-10-14T04:58:37Z

I feel like the SFX are waaaay too loud. I had to keep lowering and raising the volume a bit - but that may be just a small pet peeve for me. The music itself was a bit discordant. I get it's supposed to be spooky, but I don't feel it fit that well.

Other than that I think the game is really charming! I love cooking games and the idea of figuring out recipes for customers is def a very fun one!

Wasteland Workshop by Ulziton 2025-10-12T00:44:46Z

Gotta commend you in implementing an options AND achievements menu haha not many entries have that. Small detail, but I found the environment noise still quite loud even when I lowered the bar.

At first I didn't really know what did what and how to interface with things (even with the tutorial), but once it clicked I had fun (:

Serial Cleaner by 6Knowledge 2025-10-17T22:46:50Z

Love the idea, but I was so lost most of the time haha Some feedback for the player for what's happening is def instrumental

Afterlife Debt Collector by jscommander 2025-10-10T19:04:12Z

Using your voice for SFX is a great idea! IMO in this case it really adds to the chill and fun atmosphere of the game. I loled out loud when i heard the pew for the first time HAHA

Spyder by MartianMangka 2025-10-15T03:46:22Z

Very unique idea, I liked it! It was quite hard to play though, I think the enemy AI is pretty ruthless especially in the first level and for a very original idea like this. There's clearly some potential to learn these mechanics and navigate the webs and deal with enemies more easily.

The Internet Collector by YibiRabbit007 2025-10-17T22:50:02Z

I chilled with the music on the winXP wallpaper for like 5 mins. What a vibe.

Bug Driver 3D by Reaktori 2025-10-10T22:12:37Z

Awesome game!! It's clear you put a lot of work into the vibe - the art style, funny voice-acted quotes, the intro cinematic - it's all very well executed, and quite impressive to pull off in such a short time. Like some others have said, driving from a top-down perspective can be confusing and I found it hard to get used to, but it was still quite fun :)

Random Walk by nuzcraft 2025-10-12T15:44:14Z

Wow, that was super confusing at first, not gonna lie! But that was a good thing I think - part of the game's spirit and unique mechanic. Honestly it took me a while to realize I could click the upgrade buttons, because I was so focused on figuring out the movement. This idea has a lot of potential though, I would probably add a bit more feedback and clarity around movement, like some visual cues that show "you tried to move this way". Right now it feels like you're just playing a slot machine and grinding, waiting for the points to go up.

Random interesting thought - it would be fun to play with "chance of success" probabilities of less than 25%, so that the player has to figure out that it's better to NOT move in the direction you want. I had some deep thoughts about this and eventually realized it's not THAT deep, but still interesting!!

Hoarder's Remorse by cartmouse 2025-10-10T18:15:30Z

I really like the weird vibe this game gives off haha. I appreciate that the soundtrack sounds like it was made by hand and it does not sound like some AI slop. Very enjoyable.

Beaver Bailiff by dr-braur 2025-10-15T04:09:42Z

Amazing! The graphic style is really coherent and fun. I liked how you solved the animation with a simple squish and squash. Even though the knocking mechanic is really simple you managed to hook me into saving the rest of the villagers from the eldritch tentacles. Making a debt collector look good is difficult but I think you pulled it off!

Collection Of Fragments by Narrathen 2025-10-15T04:07:10Z

Great mood and shiny graphics, the game has a very clear digital-trap vibe. The intro was quite nice too, it made for a cohesive story. The gameplay was quite basic by comparison, but of course you can't achieve everything in just 3 days. Great job!

LOSS by anima_animus049 2025-10-10T18:19:26Z

I would have LOVED to hear an RPG medieval soundtrack for this. It looks like the game is really daunting. I don't think it is quit my cup of tea, but the retro art style really gets me. I'll put a little bit more time into it to see how it fares.

Potion Mania by basmet 2025-10-15T04:39:11Z

Great job!! There's plenty of things to do and the game is easy to understand. It fits the theme very well, and the combat mechanics feel pretty smooth and rewarding even though they're simple.

The Secret of the Statue by Vadim Lyanka 2025-10-10T18:34:21Z

Press Q to blink HAHA damn. Horror games are usually not my cup of tea, but I think you really nailed down the atmosphere of SPOOK

Goblin Lord's Dream by Ira Baciu 2025-10-12T00:15:05Z

I love the idea of the tiresome achievement hunting! I think it's one of the best applications of the theme I've seen.

Starbearer by Zillo 2025-10-11T16:59:27Z

Great game, good job!! The beginning area was well-designed as it naturally made you buy the dash mechanic and understand how the game works. I was expecting more abilities and more puzzle-like situations later on in terms of picking abilities, but ofc there's only so little time to explore in an LDJam :) I really enjoyed the game and the art style and got to the end.

Some minor suggestions: the walls on the right could be higher contrast, I found myself running into a wall sometimes haha. Also I didn't quite understand the darkness and the slam-down mechanics, but maybe I missed something.

Trinket Trail by Allityle 2025-10-17T22:59:01Z

At first I didn't understand that the mushrooms were killing me since the respawn was delayed a little bit. What a strange feeling haha. Music and vibes are obviously great and the platforming aspect was pretty satisfactory.

Seize by nOuChi 2025-10-15T03:24:43Z

Nice job putting together stealth and inventory mechanics, it's definitely hard to build a fully cohesive game experience in 3 days. I was confused at the start with what to do and why I'm there, some tutorial or intro backstory would have been nice to make this more grounded and clear. I did figure out what to do eventually, but it was also visually unclear what objects I could interact with.

Space Rescue by Exia Sun 2025-10-15T04:14:30Z

SPIRAL by Shram 2025-10-10T18:48:29Z

What a great idea. I love feeling like a tiny little speck in a huge world. I would have loved that jumping didn't kill your momentum so much, but great job overall. Loved the atmosphere.

Great job with the characters and dialogue! Definitely didn't expect to be talking to bartender Marilyn Manson hahaha. I liked the drunken effect and how spooky and hard to navigate things got. As people pointed out, the collision of the stools and the environment was a bit frustrating, though maybe it just added to the drunk vibe at the end. It's clear there were many areas you could have polished and integrated better that you didn't have time for. The white 3D environment was quite a bold choice, though I feel you could have made it a bit more cohesive with the 2D characters.
