Hahaha this was a great little burst of nostalgia!
Very clever idea and I liked the execution. Being able to use multiple apps was cool.

I'm feeling stupid though in that I can't quite figure out what to do. *spoilers for anybody who hasn't played yet* Got the numbers from snake, put in that code in the calculator, it says "ok" and seems to spit out a musical tone, which I'm assuming you have to play the same tone in the ringtone composer to trigger the next event. However I'm having difficulty trying to recreate the exact musical tone.

My inability to solve it aside, I enjoyed it and thought the game was a clever take on the "ancient technology" theme

@BentMyWookiee

Thank you very much for your feedbacks ! We really appreciate it :). We're glad you enjoyed the game. Sorry that we made this a little bit too difficult tho. We added a solution guide in the description (http://hpics.li/578d29b ). If you ever want to keep going :) ! Thanks mate !

Nice stylized emulator! I love the fact that the textures are pictures from the internet! Reminds me of those days... (2000s? wasn't so long ago)

I really liked the game! It is awesome! Great idea, great graphics, also the sound. :D I liked the mood in the game. Thrilling.

Great concept; love this. I was too stupid to figure out everything for myself haha. But still, awesome and really unique.

anaguilefdez 2016-08-31 19:30

Impressive! I felt a lot of nostalgia. I think you used the theme in a very clever way, it was really funny and immersive. I can't believe I spent like 5 minutes playing Snake xDD Great work.

Your game remind me the time when i was young and i had Nokia 3310. Good phone :D and also good and interesting game :)

A nice puzzle game which was well thought through and brought back some memories. Good use of the theme!

mato26 2016-08-31 20:24

I'm typing this as an owner of 3310 (still alive and still probably with battery). I am going to find that old phone and start using it. It's awesome! I miss that beep sound so much. That i'm probably going to play that game more often.

pyokoanarogue 2016-08-31 20:24

This game is an excellent way to tap into the collective history of cellphone owners and a nice twist on the theme. quite nice production values. and the puzzle made a fool of myself .

Nice! One thing I didn't like was using some menus with arrow keys and some with keypad, I'm certain that you did everything with arrows and menu button on the original device. Also, I did the third step but there was no music, so I had to look next step from the walkthrough. Although I played the snake game immediately after starting the game, maybe I broke some script triggers or something?

cushycode 2016-08-31 20:48

So sweet prototype!
I like the idea of a realistic Nokia's simulator.
The implementation is also quit neat.
Good job!

@kyyninen
Thank you for your feedback, we had no nokia 3310 device available to check if it was accurate, so we had to do with memories to emulate the phone. I know for sure thing that the composer didn't work this way, but it was too difficult to rememberhow it worked exactly ^^'.
If you played the snake game at first, you may have missed some messages, but it shouldn't have prevented you to finish the game.
Anyway thank you for your feedback :)

Remember me old souvenirs ^^.
What a good reconstitution of this device!
More, you find a good story.
Congratulation, it is a great work!

This was a clever puzzle game, though I had to refer to the solution guide to get through it.

joemagiv 2016-09-01 19:31

Cool puzzle and a great use of the theme for Ancient Technology. Brought back waves of nostalgia.

nardelli 2016-09-01 23:08

Nostalgia. Very cool! But I couldn't listen the calculator sound. What did I do wrong? :/
I liked your idea to show how mobiles was in some old decades

Congratulations!

Really nice game, tried to solve it, didn't make it quite through but it was fun, those phones where puzzly to work with. Good use of photografy, that's not often seen. I think maybe the snake ingame would have been nice to control with arrows or such too, i imagine you didn't have to go far with that to solve the riddle but i wanted to play some more anyways haha. Well done!

fixedgerald 2016-09-02 02:18

You can play a game in a game. 10/10

justinooncx 2016-09-02 17:06

A pretty short but interesting puzzle game. I finished it in the end, but a lot of times, sending messages seemed to be broken. I'd send the same message a few times, knowing it's the right answer, but it doesn't proc the next stage. After a bit of resetting, got it in the end.

Fantastic idea. I was right about to give up when I finally realized that it wasn't the arrow symbols but the numbers used to toggle between SEND and INBOX. It makes no sense since the arrow buttons are used for proximate things, but I guess that is how it was. I would recommend though that you'd add the ability to navigate that menu with the arrow buttons too. Impressive too that you managed to have time to add all the detail to the experience such as calculator, composer and snake! So very cool entry. I would make the game hide the mouse cursor though because sometimes it was confusing (felt like I was pressing a button but the game thought I was above it). It also breaks the feeling of being the hand in the game too. Still, very cool idea!

rockhoppergames 2016-09-03 17:01

Very good use of the theme! I did run into some trouble though, even after checking the guide. When I entered the code into the calculator, it didn't do anything (though thankfully I could skip that step by entering the musical code from your guide into the composer), and I didn't get any response when I sent the code to either person. I made a mistake the first time I sent it (including spaces) so maybe that caused the bug?

Also, I'm pretty sure I remember my old nokia having the left/right buttons work as up/down in almost any circumstance. I can understand if this didn't get put in because of time constraints, but pushing left and right to move up and down menus, or even turn the snake left and right would have fitted well with how I remember them!

Regardless of these issues, I had a good time with this game, and I definitely think this is one of the most inspired uses of the theme I've seen thus far!

plasmaernst 2016-09-05 13:46

Nice puzzler and cool take on the theme! I couldn't solve it, but played some rounds of snake :)
