LD36 — Ancient Technology

SynthMatch by snake5 2016-08-29T21:03:00

Interesting idea, really challenging though I got stuck at level 4. A hint button or something would be really helpful, I'd like to know more about this but don't have a background in audio.

SOS Snake by Pyrofoux 2016-08-30T22:01:00

This is haaaaaard, but awesome, love the aesthetic and the challenge. Great work, good blending of elements.

Pre-ARC by Geruhn 2016-09-01T19:40:00

Doesn't play nice with phones, gets stuck, consider baking the controls into the client rather than using this system.

Agent 3310 by TomBuston 2016-09-01T19:31:00

Cool puzzle and a great use of the theme for Ancient Technology. Brought back waves of nostalgia.

Old N' Fashioned? by tomer_cool 2016-08-29T21:08:00

Space bar was a bad choice for web distribution, had to keep scrolling back up to the game. Not a lot to say in terms of feedback, it's a platformer with a lot of jumps that aren't easy to see. I'm not totally sure what the intent was.

Tech Race by AwesomeDannyRay 2016-08-29T20:34:00

Neat aesthetic but really lacking in gameplay. It feels like it's always a coinflip that happens to make bars go up or down, I need some feedback to determine whether something is worth the risk or not.

Punch Card Panic by Quicklyer 2016-08-30T01:10:00

Fun, very old school Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Couldn't figure out how to sort the cards but the art really sold the mood. Great work.

Age of Garbage by Anudin 2016-09-01T20:09:00

Cute art, neat concept, controls were a little unwieldy spent a lot of time with my arms spinning around. Could also use some simple sound effects.

The Fireworker's Apprentice by pressxtoskip 2016-08-29T20:26:00

Fun, I feel like it could really use some sound, weird to be lighting off fireworks without sfx. I would also recommend changing the movement controls to normal directions rather than tank controls.
Overall thought it was fun and a neat idea, definitely had to research elements again.

How the pyramids were built by stonek89 2016-09-01T20:22:00

Fun idea (if a little messed up) although the physics seemed fairly inconsistent which can be frustrating with a game requiring this much precision. The weight of everything felt really good though, the sounds really made the bricks feel huge.
Great work!

Log Driver by leuus 2016-08-29T23:33:00

Fun, simple. Really wish the game could detect when you missed a log or failed the level, it's not clear. Really wished I was able to swim upstream to get something I missed. Graphics are cool, nice work.

RAM by Evilperson77 2016-08-29T20:44:00

Very fun, reminded me a lot of a Smash TV type of game. Took me a few tries to get how useful the charge is in getting around some of the enemies.
Couple suggestions, 1: enemies you push into the spikes should count towards your total, 2: I had a couple cheap deaths from charging into swordsman mid-swing, seems like there should be more leeway on those.
Great job!

Ball Shui by teamBallShui 2016-08-30T21:56:00

Very cool and relaxing, got a nice sort of lemmings physic puzzle vibe. And yeah you need to get the right embed link so it'll play on the LD website.

I am the Destroyer by BMacIntosh 2016-08-29T19:07:00

Very fun, trippy. Took me a moment to get the whole mechanic of setting up events in the past to affect the future, reminded me of the puzzles in Day of the Tentacle. Could maybe better direct attention to the time machine in the beginning.

Hand Cranky by tedajax 2016-08-30T01:29:00

Fun, very hectic. Interesting take on the endless runner. Liked the little sprite guys. SFX were a little on the loud side, not sure what the red status bar was for.

Catapult by g_o 2016-08-29T22:27:00

Interesting, like the laidback feel for a castle-defense game. Wasn't clear how you're supposed to move the catapult along the wall.
Could use some more feedback on the damage on the big knight, never felt I had a chance against him.

The Huckster by MrBrenan 2016-08-30T00:21:00

Very cool, nice and moody. Really liked the puzzle work, seemed like you had a really deep story in mind. The movement sound effects were a little irritating after a while, should consider turning them down.

Cryptoglyphics by Bogden 2016-08-29T20:16:00

Neat idea, I wonder if autofilling all the spaces that use the same glyph takes some of the challenge out of it. There's also no feedback for when you've entered something incorrectly, could make you more careful when entering letters.
Overall a cool idea and interesting twist on a classic word puzzle.

Fort Deep Search by Wevel 2016-08-30T00:59:00

Neat idea, although similar to the others I keep losing workers. Also I noticed my guys get stuck a few times. The art was solid and it definitely felt alive.

Babel by johnbjuice 2016-08-30T00:36:00

Super fun! Typing of the Endless Jumper!

I was really surprised when I saw that mechanic, really blew me away. Very tense, had a lot of close calls.

Best score 492

Catapult Whack-A-Mole by Absor 2016-09-01T20:16:00

Works well enough, needs some player feedback though, points, damage, something. Just sitting here letting the dots come at me and nothing's happening.

Kungo by kingpirux 2016-08-30T21:48:00

Yeah not totally sure what's going on, the art is decent and I get the whole rock mechanic but I destroyed the ships and there's nothing left for me to do. Could use some more player direction and some sounds.

Touch the Monolith by silkworm_sweatshop 2016-09-01T20:04:00

Fun piece, definitely nailed the "warioware of mankind" concept. Just wish there was something more in terms of gameplay or challenge, maybe even a simple timer and a "you failed to evolve".

DYSCOVR by Sean 2016-09-01T19:17:00

Very neat and cerebral, and yes basically all the gampeplay of No Man's Sky. Would be nice if there was some directed goal but a neat experiment regardless.
Aesthetics and music is really cool. I would tune the distortion on the screen down a touch, it's a little distracting.

Sentinel by Ilseroth 2016-08-29T22:08:00

Verrry cool. Shadow of the Colossus meets The Iron Giant. Lotta fun, interesting swapping between the two perspectives, great aesthetics. Great work.

The Switch - Worker by Ghen 2016-08-29T22:03:00

Very fun, feel like the difficulty could be ramped up faster. It's also not super clear why you're losing hearts. Beyond that though really unique.

Rolling Gears by ferfer957 2016-08-29T20:54:00

Yeah would be great if the gears lined up better. Also noticed that the music stops when it does the reversal. An interesting take on the infinite runner. Seems like it could be a decent mobile game with a bit more polish.

Homecoming by adaFish 2016-08-30T23:38:00

Very cool and atmospheric, nice little story, like a mini-Gone Home.

No Man Has Gone Before by KevKevOnFire 2016-08-30T00:30:00

Neat idea and looked really fun. Felt like there weren't enough decisions though, 1/4 and it never really felt like there was consequence despite the reports.
The game also doesn't clean up after failure well, you just get stuck in a loop that has the final day (kinda terrifying when you think about it). Great work though, felt really cool.

Temple Plunder by Fidrik 2016-08-29T23:39:00

Felt really hard in a good way. Think it could just most broadly be better lit, struggling with the movement and the flashlight was frustrating. Also feel like it would be better if you dropped the bag on death rather than damage. Other than that good work.

Rush of Tapes by atcolombini 2016-08-30T22:52:00

Neat little game, could use some funky tunes like some vaporwave to really sell the concept. Also could use some sort of timer to keep the pressure on, I wasn't feeling a big push.

Reinvent the Wheel by ratly 2016-08-29T22:33:00

Love the music, adds a great touch. Took a while to understand that jumping was required.
A very unique runner, although after playing through the straight forward early levels I didn't want to play through effectively the tutorial portion again. Would be great if there was a button that starts it at the harder random map.

Da Vinci vs Ancient Creators by kawzar 2016-09-01T19:55:00

This needs some serious juicing up, everything is too static and floating, an extra frame of animation here and there would do wonders. The score didn't add up. As was mentioned you need to complete the game loop for people to try again. Cute idea needs more execution.

The Crush by joemag 2016-08-30T06:32:00

@johnbjuice fixed the download should be working now. And it is a Jam entry not a compo entry.

LDCode by rudinskiz 2016-08-30T00:49:00

Looks like it took a lot of work but I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing here.
