Hi, nice game and congratulations ! Simple mechanics that still offered a decent amount of challenge. We're realizing a video with several games of the Ludum Dare #36. We made the same thing at the previous jam.

Can you add your game on indiexpo.net ? (it's free)
So we can include also your game in the video ;)
p.s. write #LDJAM in the game's description. (you can already find several games from the jam there)

Interesting idea.
Keep working on it!

thenanox 2016-08-30 20:47

i like the mechanic, is a little bit hard at the beggining but its challenging!

seththefirst 2016-08-31 00:05

Nice game man...

2016-08-31 00:43

Great game! Love the concept, it's a nice mix of action/evade and button smashing :D
Really hope to see more work over it :)
'Precharging' 1 or 2 chords the weapon maybe could give it more dynamism.
PD: You can skip this comment as I know it's a rush work in so little time, but to say something 'constructive' (I hope), consider closing the border of the map! And maybe adding some level finished/restart/menu if you clear everything! :D

Cool game overall, i can see this becoming easily a full title.

volcanicgiraffe 2016-08-31 18:30

Game's quite hard, but fun to play. I like the idea of combining movement and rhythm-building the attack a lot. Art and music are very nice too.

teamfireman 2016-08-31 18:45

The game is challenging and fun! I love the art style, and the attacking mechanism is very neat! Love the music concept also.

This game can easily become a real game, keep working on it! Nice job!

ianb96 2016-08-31 18:52

Nice game with an innovative mechanic!
It could use some balancing, regenerating health, or different types of attacks with different styles of button sequences.
But still, very impressive!

digitaldude555 2016-08-31 18:52

Great art, I love the trees especially, character design is cool. I like the music. The gameplay is pretty interesting way to attack but with the number of enemies the game is very hard and feels unfair sometimes, especially because ever hit cancels your attack. I think it's harder to use keyboard than controller. I also don't understand what coins do.

I would recommend each time you successfully press a button the rhythm gets faster, and also maybe make a the margin of error bigger at the beginning of the attack and make it less after you land more attacks.

alexandermerk 2016-08-31 19:00

Intresting idea, do your have group in social media?)

culturebosh_games 2016-08-31 19:26

Hey! That was a fun game - nice work syncing the sounds / attack / music pretty seamlessly. The art style was nice but I spent too much time concentrating on the buttons to really appreciate it. Fun game though - blood explosions always good.

cubotrox_toni 2016-08-31 19:30

Thanks to everyone for comments.
@Digitaldude555, hahaha, coins are the same than real life: they are useless ;)
@AlexanderMerk, what do you mean? We are in facebook.com/cubotrox and twitter.com/cubotrox

kapricornmedia 2016-08-31 19:32

Love the art in this game! The glowing details on the rock engravings, the pyramids, the trees!

tangooscarmike 2016-08-31 19:40

Really cool idea. I found the learning curve pretty steep but it was still fun nevertheless!

mato26 2016-08-31 20:31

So basically i killed hundreds of black people with lion masks and i loved it!. The mechanic of Quick time events and that catchy music is amazing :D

alexandermerk 2016-08-31 20:42

@cubotrox_toni tnks :)

allthebees 2016-08-31 20:43

Really impressed, this feels really polished! Really cool concept, great music, sound and art to back it up too!

ccglp 2016-08-31 21:36

I like the concept and the art and music feels good, but the gameplay is hard as hell xD. Also not a fan of the quick time events, but is a very well thought game!

purplepanda 2016-09-01 11:45

It's a cool idea, and it looks really nice.

But the gameplay is pretty badly thought out; the enemies are shooting at me, rather quickly, but each time I want to shoot at them I have do a quick time event, while trying to move out of the way of the bullets. And it never actually shot, it just made a power up noise :/

cubotrox_toni 2016-09-01 12:37

@alittleredpanda thanks for the feedback. You're right. We would like have got more time to polish the gameplay mechanic. The characters and bullets are too big, so it's very hard to avoid them. About the shots, the main character does not shot anything. Each time you match right a button, all enemies inside the effect area are damaged. The longer you match the button string, the more damage is accumulted.

glokon 2016-09-01 14:13

Interesting idea very unique, it was hard at first with the attacking but loved the music and art keep up with it.

facelesstheone 2016-09-01 14:48

Very nice combination of gameplay mechanics! Pretty much unique experience. Of course it needs some polish and some kind of tutorial, but yeah, it's gamejam, we don't have time for it. Great job!

bogden 2016-09-01 19:05

I really really really like where you're going with this. The mechanic is super interesting, and could totally lend itself well to an RPG type game. You could totally make a full final fantasy or zelda style RPG based around this mechanic, and it would be awesome. Reminds me a lot of Seqeuence or Before the Echo.

Would be really interesting to have some sort of spellbook as well. Could maybe select an ability somehow, and then play the correct musical sequence to activate it. Or maybe you just start playing, where each of the buttons is a note, and different musical sequences create different effects.

Just spitballing, but you guys are onto something really unique and interesting here.

txotxopue 2016-09-02 21:30

Loved the attack mechanic and the backgrounds!

iwa 2016-09-03 14:36

The battle system is very interesting.
There is a lack of visual feedback when the player attack.
More sounds and animation could make it really cool. Great job though.

thrainsa 2016-09-03 14:40

I really like the mechanics but it's too hard for the beginning.
I liked also the art and audio.
Well done ;)

chaoslab 2016-09-03 20:35

Good graphics and animation.

Found the attack system a bit confusing but fun over all.

Well done! :-)

indieyp 2016-09-04 09:36

Great setting, my congratulations !

adrianes21 2016-09-10 10:13

Wow, this have a lot of future. Nice concept.

xesenix 2016-09-19 22:20

I have tried to play it on keyboard i managed to move one enemy into tree so he couldn't shoot me and then i had to clik space few times to see some keys that i press to kill that one enemy.
Unfortunately those keys don't appear every time i press space sometimes that appear to imidiatley disappear i suppose they move around but i dont know what and when to press you probably should check more keyboard controls.
Saying that i couldnt go to far so i only saw begging. graphics look good but music is very repetitive i feel like those loop drum series makes that.
