Hi. Happy to see a Linux version here as I can't run any of these windows submissions. Are there any requirements that I need to run it as it keeps throwing an error: could not load embed Thanks.
Very well done! I think the concept of causing chaos through a house is very fun. It took me a few tries to fully understand that I didn't have to blow up each electronic item before getting to the purple box but once I did I had fun trying for different electronics or exploring the room a little bit. The graphics and music were very well done, thank you for the light warnings as well! I hope you had a fun game jam.
@malcolm use go 1.16+, go from repos is outdated
This is a good entry. There are a couple of critiques I would offer: - I understand what you're trying to go for with the shaking of the ball as you move, but it gave a feeling that I didn't have control over it. - The score system isn't really a fun thing for me personally, I'd be interested to see a game like this that forces you to hit all the appliances. I found myself just going straight to the end every level and ignoring the other objectives. - Consider using a different set of keys for controlling the menus, I found that when I lost I would inadvertently skip a menu because my movement keys are the same keys that advance the menus
A good arcade feel, although I wasn't really sure whether there was an incentive to destroying items. Also, those later levels are a bit unforgiving.
I like pixelarts.
@firebelley
1 this is intentional. unstable!
2 you have to find a balance between score and lifetime. it's like real life...
3 yeah, i agree. but i thought initially that using another key just for switching screens is kinda overengineering. as a side effect you can retry if you're dead very fast.
@c4ris you can, but your score will be lower
I love the theme and the idea! It feels like the ball of lightning is fighting with you as you try to control it but it makes sense and goes with the theme. It would be interesting to see how hard it is to control if it gets faster and more jittery each level.
Hey cool game, I love the intensity and vibe! :laughing:
I played until I died a few times, it was nicely executed and I liked having green borders around walls for readability. My suggestion for the next one would be to take the "out of control" theme even further and make the lightning ball bounce around almost uncontrollably, so the gameplay is not simply to go and find the purple thing, but to actually hit it once you've find it (maybe making levels more open so you don't need to be precise).
As it is, it was nice to play this, I just felt that the gameplay didn't quite match the energy level of the game presentation! :zap:
Very cool game. I really liked the graphical style and the background music.
@fre, this is a very cool idea. We will definitely discuss it with the team if and when we get back from our daily business to developing this game :D thanks for the review
Really cool game. I wasn't really sure what I needed to do first but after that I really enjoyed playing it ! I liked the music also :)
The music in this game really pops, gave you a 5 star on audio, good job!
I felt like I was struggling to control the ball every step of the way. Not exactly what I think of when it comes to "lightning." Mostly I aimed straight for the exits on every level without trying to break the electronics unless they were in my path, because I felt like I wouldn't have enough time to struggle back to the goal if I went out of my way to hunt them down. Not really fun to play.
Also, I don't know if this is a deliberate glitch, but not all of the walls have highlights. I tried passing through a spot that turned out to be a wall and died nearly instantly. :(
@underdog Thank you. :)
@ryusui those invisible walls are level boundaries. your goal is to beat the game with maximum possible score. yeah, kinda unfunny remembering that last level is very hard (at least in builds, i forgot to rebuild binaries after commiting code)
Good game! i like it, can be a big game with more development, i like retro top view
What a cool arcade style! It also made me think-what if pinball??
From reading other comments, I learned that we would trade score for completing the level in time. I guess this didn't come through to me so easily, as I missed the point of hitting the electronics (even if it was fun). It would make sense if they gave you more charge (life), but then I wouldn't run out of time!
It's a nice idea, and I had fun playing it! The graphics and audio were definitely in the right style for arcade. Thanks!
The music goes very well with the theme and the kind of gameplay! I gotta agree with some of the other comments though that the gameplay feels kind of off when trying to control the ball. Other than that great job!
Feels a bit luck-based in the later levels, as the camera is too zoomed in to know where the goal is, so you just have to pick a direction and pray. The pumpin soundtrack with the filtered synth made it worth it though.
very good job on making the pixel art
