I like where your going with this, and I like the progression. I would have liked to see the visuals be a little more your own, the unity standard objects really stood out to me, and any special cases like the stained glass at the beginning doesn't seem to serve a real purpose, and just stands out against everything else. I did like flying around the level once I got enough boosts and stength though.

Please make a windows build. I can help you make one if you provide the source code.

@red-fan-games It is a windows build. Also source code here: https://github.com/superMsp10/LD38

This was an interesting game. I'd like to see better controls on the character. Still, great work.

gulyasarni66 2017-05-02 04:40

Interesting concept. It was a bit hard for me to move around the planets, but the game overall wasn't bad. Nice work!

aurelien 2017-05-02 06:16

The graphics and the concept are really basic, but it works! Wish the environment were more detailed, because it would really be perfect for an exploration game were you discover some new stuff on each planet :p The music is also very repetitive, no music and sound effects would have been good :p

Still, nice entry! It's also really addictive to power up your character! Thanks for your game

mhgamework 2017-05-02 07:32

I like the idea, but i had some trouble knowing where to go.

tommyflower 2017-05-02 07:55

What a nice idea and environment! I always love seeing tips integrated into the gameplay. Moving on a platform was actually not so slippery, jumping was a bit difficult. The music probably need some change to make it more pleasant to hear for a long time. Well done!

kantieno 2017-05-02 09:47

Once I understood everything that was going on it became pretty interesting. I liked how different each generation of the world could be in terms of hints given and powerups offered. The jumping and boosting was definitely a bit difficult, the first time I got a boost powerup I just flew off the world because it launched me so far!

Its an interesting style, could use some new art but other than that, good job!

realitycheck 2017-05-02 10:45

Interesting idea for a game. I liked the potential of it. The graphics would have benefited from being a bit more unique (not using Unity primitives), and the controls for the player could be improved. Also, the random generation caused some problems. First time I tried the game there was not a single planet I could reach from my starting point. Sometimes planets would also generate inside one another.

Still, it was a fun idea.

palemachine 2017-05-02 14:56

The ideas in this game are really very interesting, but I advise anyone playing from getting boost strength power-ups. Once you get a couple of them it gets super hard not to launch yourself straight into a game over. :D Good job!

blaster391 2017-05-02 20:14

I enjoyed this little game, even if I did plummet to my death, many, many times. And the time I won was when I found the guy on the first planet I went to lol

Controls were good, except like other people have said, the boost power up was more of a negative that should be avoided. Maybe some way of controlling how much power you put in the jump would be cool (hold down mouse click?)

schizoid2k 2017-05-02 20:16

Good concept. Jumping takes a bit to get used to, but overall it's a nice idea. Good job.

2017-05-02 21:15

Great concept! I had a fun time playing this, but after I figured how the system worked, it got boring as I could find the thief every time in under 2 min. Although it would have been nice to know you had to right click them. Also, the art was ripped off from Unity's built in assets, so that could have been better, but the music was nice :)

wildmusketeer 2017-05-02 21:22

Interesting concept and take on the theme. I think it has a lot of potential. Instead of all the information dump in the beginning, I think there can be a better way to ease the player into the mechanic. I think the game could use some more polish, but the foundation is good.

zantamar 2017-05-02 21:23

I really like this idea, and it works well from the first person perspective in a 3D world. I wish the "persons" were more than just cubes to give a closer feel to actually looking instead of just clicking, but understandable with the time constraints. One other thing I found was that after one 3 or so boost power-ups, I could quickly collect a large number of them and go where I wished. Perhaps a slower ramp up in boost with each pickup would help extend this. Thanks for your game!

roberto-romao 2017-05-02 21:26

Nice concept, i really like this fast 3d games hahaha :D Good job

nedmakesgames 2017-05-02 21:39

Fun game! Was it randomly generated? Nice touch. Jumping is difficult to use and I actually tried to avoid speed boosts because it made it very hard to control. Liked the music but missed sound effects. Only other problem I had was I would get stuck on the sides of the teleporters, making it hard to use them! Good job.

kroltan 2017-05-02 21:53

This is the sort of game I initially thought about, but scrapped it as lack of ideas on how to implement. Very nice!

But I have to say, the movements are very annoying. It absolutely snags when you touch anything (wall, powerup, etc), and at the same time was very floaty (but that much is recognized ingame). A different skybox would allow the player to better orient their boost jumps.

The visuals are a bit too simplistic, however. I get, programmer art and whatnot, but even some silly hand-drawn sketches would be highly appreciated in that department. Throw in the standard Toon shader and you got a more believable mood (the mix of primitives with high-res textures is really quite jarring).

scornz 2017-05-03 10:41

Awesome game, love the 'hide and seek' aspect. Creative and innovative, definitely playing this one again!

tomdeal 2017-05-03 10:51

I like the idea, having to find something on another planet and jumping to others to find it. However, from the technical side, there are a few things which really made it hard to find the object. First, the controls were unresponsive and on teleporter planets, the player got stuck on all edges. The boost could use a bit more power, but thats finetuning. Second, the random placement of the planets was a bit of a problem, because on my first try, one planet spawned on the tutorial text, making it unreadable and I didn't know what to do.

2017-05-03 17:28

wow i always like sonic the hedgehog 10/10 your next game should be about a goku

vademetro 2017-05-03 17:32

Very nice idea! It just hard to control the boost when it's too powerfull! I think it will be a good idea to let the player interrupt the starting scene with the thief. When you die a lot it become anoying to wait until you can play!

cogcomp 2017-05-03 18:31

I had a hard time learning to boost properly, but I like the concept. With a more gradual difficulty build-up this would be really engaging.

occultone 2017-05-04 05:12

I Played this on Livestream a bit ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwY1-PtcDqs

I couldn't figure it out, the level design was kinda crazy, the boost system wasn't strong enough to do much more then fix the super slippery movements. I had some more design tips in the video.

adrian0901 2017-05-04 05:18

Game is pretty fun, but gfx are pretty bad. God, the standard Unity assets. Please. Also I wasn't impressed by the music. Overall, a mediocre game.

mordokay 2017-05-04 16:23

Game is lots of fun and very interesting. The idea behind it shows a lot of creativity and the progression is also very well defined and polished. Even if the graphics are not as good as you might have hoped the core gameplay is there and its one of those games where you keep playing until you find the thief. Great Job!

fueelin 2017-05-04 19:16

Awesome game! I really enjoyed playing it and getting a feel for the boost mechanic. As others have said, the "boost power" upgrade is dangerous. I liked treating them as downgrades and actively trying to avoid them while building up "boost number" upgrades. At 20 you can basically float around forever, which is awesome. Great work!

PS: One specific criticism is that I had no idea what the hint "the thief is on a normal planet" means, or however it's worded. What's a "non-normal" planet?

athomicus 2017-05-04 20:21

super game i win - found thief

toulou 2017-05-04 20:36

I really enjoyed this game, it's a interesting idea and a fun little game. I didn't managed to complete it but I had a great time playing, good job !

louspirit 2017-05-04 21:12

You came out with a original idea here ! I appreciated the way of moving that is quite new to me. The game would be better with differents design on your planete to look more like planets. The sound is a bit annoying after some time. Good job for only one person.

2017-06-07 17:05

Interesting concept! I included it in my Ludum Dare 38 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGAiipylkqo
