LD38 — A Small World

Tub of War by quill18 2017-05-03T22:05:42Z

This is probably the best game I've seen this year in Ludum Dare. It's absolutely phenomenal: Gorgeous graphics, solid sounds, hilarious humor, a hard but fair gameplay with low entry level but high skill ceiling. I can't praise it enough.

The Aliens by Nnnnneeeedddd 2017-05-02T22:42:54Z

Also on OSX, I had a crash killing an enemy at some point.

Other than that, this game was really enjoyable. The upgrades kept me motivated and the rocket felt quite nice to handle. The gameplay is certainly the strong point of this entry. But it could get a little boring waiting for new enemies to arrive.

The graphics were really appropriate for the gameplay, as was the sound. But both of them didn't really stand out to me.

I suppose the theme wasn't tackled that explicitly, which is a bit of a weak point for this game.

But overall, I'd say that you did a very good job on it. It's an enjoyable way to spend 15-20 minutes.

Flight Club by dj_pale 2017-05-03T21:36:59Z

Solid entry. I had fun directing flights for quite a while (I got to over 100 successful planes). At first, I thought that the game was unfair with its close deadlines, but when you start getting the hang of it, it's actually quite fair.

The graphics were not very remarkable, but the sound was really nice. The gameplay was certainly interesting and I could see how this idea could be expanded and polished.

A Small War by hadesfury 2017-05-02T21:48:53Z

A nice little game. The gameplay is of course quite simple, but I think it works really well. Perhaps the game is a little bit too easy, though.

The graphics work really, really well in this context and the idea of walking down four sides of a little planet is brilliant.

The sounds are rather basic, but I think this is not a bad thing at all. The music in the background sets a good tone for the battle.

Overall, I enjoyed this entry.

Commander's Log by smbe19 2017-05-03T18:46:42Z

@thendash I'm one of the developers and yes, you're absolutely right that you should see your daily +/- balance for each resource. That was the plan, but we unfortunately didn't have time to implement it.

Regarding the plants: We discussed for a while if we should allow the plant modules to be turned off. In the end, we decided to not give the player that option. So it is not a bug, but of course we don't know if it was a good design decision.

D4RK and the Small Worlds by abhimonk 2017-05-03T21:19:11Z

The game was really fun, but I honestly got too frustrated with it during the Saturn battle. Everything about that was just downright mean for the player. The planet's hit box seemed to be much smaller than its graphic. I generally like hard games, but I never even got it down to half HP, so I gave up.

Other than that, I loved the game. The music was fantastic, the graphics were excellent and the humor came through really well. Your take on the theme was quite funny.

Colorfly by Zelos 2017-05-02T21:40:59Z

The music is absolutely outstanding, it made the experience very memorable.

The graphics also fit the overall mood of the game very well. Though the turning of the wing sometimes looks a bit odd.

The gameplay itself wasn't that revolutionary, but it was solid enough to create a very beautiful atmosphere. Great entry!

Membrum by Rongo Matane 2017-05-02T23:01:26Z

Really fun idea. It was kind of confusing and it felt like things were moving too fast at first, but I got the hang of it eventually.

The graphics do their job, but I wouldn't call them outstanding. The same goes for the sounds.

The game concept was really innovative and fun, though, so I think you can be proud of what you have managed to create.

My little planet by mindtricks 2017-05-03T21:54:19Z

The game was really nice to play. It was definitely something very new and refreshing. The humor really carried it.

Obviously the game wasn't that visually appealing and the sounds are quite basic, but the amount of detail you put into each message was great. I actually laughed when the game thought I was strange for breaking the weapons and then starting a war.

The different civilizations were a nice touch. Though I would have loved a boiling pot based civilization.

Overall, I thought this was a really good effort and is definitely worth playing.

Amoebros by Spinaljack 2017-05-02T22:25:54Z

This was very fascinating to me. At first, I was quite confused as to what was going on, but it became clearer quite quickly.

The graphics are truly fantastic. They fit the game perfectly. I was very pleasantly surprised with the blur effect. It's feels like looking into an actual microscope. Awesome!

The sounds are not quite as impressive, but the sound effects do their job and the sound track is also beneficial to the mood (but it gets repetitive quite quickly).

Overall, I really liked this entry. It was a lot of fun to breed my own horde of super bacteria.

LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Policeman from Mukhosransk by BloodJohn 2018-12-04T21:41:40Z

This is an amazing entry. The different messages can be quite funny and it really is hard to get to all the locations in time. The mood of the cold city is really amazing and the lack of soundtrack actually contributes to that. I guess the only complaint I have is that I sometimes got stuck inside the snow, but I guess that's perfectly fine. The game is super impressive, well done!

Mission to Io by DeathBySnail 2018-12-10T22:37:52Z

The audio of this game was absolutely amazing and it really pulled me into the atmosphere. Amazing job!

Olympus is Falling by Charging-Llama 2018-12-04T21:08:46Z

Hey man, this is a solid entry, especially considering you haven't made games in a while!

I like the fact that you went in the direction of greek mythology.

QUELTRIS by fmdkdd 2018-12-08T23:59:14Z

That's a sweet idea. It requires some out of the box thinking to efiiciently rearrange your people. Congrats!

Of Gods And Rain by Zinkler 2018-12-07T11:09:13Z

An absolutely astonishing entry! The graphics are amazing. I love all the little subtleties of the animation. That makes me realize how much love went into this project. The audio is also absolutely amazing. These two things contribute to a truly excellent mood. The gameplay was very good, though the theme of sacrifice itself wasn't too relevant. I suck at these kinds of games, though, so I didn't manage to play it all the way through. All in all, it's one of the best entries I've seen this LD. Congratulations!

Offerlings by eldogg 2018-12-04T21:26:21Z

Very well made. The voice acting was really excellent. The offerlings are pretty cute and I liked the graphics overall.

Goblinz Demizess by Lodugh 2018-12-10T22:23:03Z

The art is fantastic, some depictions are quite gruesome. The game over all is quite fun, even if a little short. The mood of being on the run was amazing. Congratulations on the game!

Sven by Donitz 2018-12-04T12:21:44Z

The comic style was really sweet. I liked the sudden change in pace with the introduction of the space ship.

The fact that you were the one making the sacrifice to summon the evil monster was also quite nice. But the mechanics of the game itself didn't focus too much on the theme.

Great job, I had a lot of fun playing the game.

How Many Days Left? by kaiagan 2018-12-10T22:14:14Z

A haunting and super difficult game. It was a lot of fun, though. In the end I had way too much food from all the corpses, haha.

Congratulations!

Ring of Sacrifice by nul 2018-12-04T23:31:50Z

Sweet game! I like the sacrificing of your items.

Faster Than Wind by alhime 2018-12-04T23:20:17Z

That was a sweet game, and definitely a nice take on sacrificing. It was quite unclear where you can even move the pirates, but ulitmately I was able to beat the game. I enjoyed it quite a bit, I am a fan of resource management games. Good job, congratulations!

For The Greater Good by Eddie Li 2018-12-04T22:46:29Z

Oh my god, I just had to finish this game! That last level ate up every ounce of patience. But I made it! time 1906

I have to say this was super addictive and I loved the time stop mechanics.

Yahtzle! by 1257th or nothing 2018-12-04T22:00:53Z

I really liked your game. It took me a little while to figure out what was going on (especially that the A meant "any number, but both dice need to be the same value") and how exactly I should spend my dice, but after that it was super fun and actually required some strategy to get the last one before the time expired. It was a lot of fun. Congratulations!

PixelEyes by Aniol Folch 2018-12-04T22:09:39Z

The game concept was super sweet. It's not something I've seen before and it certainly puts a whole new twist on the sacrifice theme. The spinning log confused me, though, haha. Really enjoyed playing it, congratulations!
