LD38 — A Small World

There is clearly a lot of work here! I like the idea, and I can certainly see the relationship with the theme. Your game was a little bit too complicated for me. I think having instructions on the screen that one can choose to look at might have been a good idea, rather than forcing your player to go through a tutorial at the beginning. Also, you could try introducing the player to mechanics in stages whilst the player is playing, rather than all at once in the tutorial. I wasn't sure exactly what I was doing unfortunately.

Love this. Had a blast playing the game. I particularly like how it is just like real life and the controls were well polished. Innovative idea too. Maybe it could be made harder by having items on the shopping list like "A treat for Mary".

Highly enjoyable. The sound and graphics reflect the gameplay progress very well. The game is calm and enjoyable. I like the camera movement during the sidescrolling sections - very smooth and highlights the tress nicely. I also appreciate the recursive trees.

This is a cool game and has a really nice approach to the theme. The ending was really unexpected, but worth experiencing. I also enjoyed the game narrative and the mix of 2d/3d graphics. I also liked the way that the game taught you how to play very quickly. I found the main character a bit hard to move at first and thought the controls could be made a little bit more intuitive.

Nice idea. A novel approach to the theme and great to see a 2-player game on here. The art style is gorgeous (especially the smoke and the run cycle) and being chased by a massive fist is really funny/scary. The controls are quite difficult on a keyboard, though they are much easier on a gamepad. It is tricky to concentrate on moving the fist and moving the player, but I quite like this cognitive overload as it adds to the madness of the giant fist.

Thanks for the reviews. I agree with points raised. I definitely could improve the particle effects and background planets in the ways suggested and I did wonder about the control scheme when I asked a friend to playtest and they wanted to hit something else to shoot. Strong critique and useful feedback - thanks!
