Okay the game is super short, and it could need some polish, but what is here is okay fun to play. The art style is pretty good, and the chosen music fits the game well. The animations is okay, but do not always fits the player characters movements. Overall a fine LD game.
Cute graphics, very nice music. You had some interesting mechanics here, like charging up the jump. I'd strongly recommend to use instant jump since everyone is used to it, but it could be interesting to have it as an alternative ability you'd need in certain situations.
Doesn't work for me at all unfortunately. I can hear the music, but there is no window, so I can't see anything :/
Using a Surface book, Windows 10 (64-bit)
First of all, thank all of you very much for playing and leaving feedback!
@hunttis, I'm sorry that happened. On some machines the game becomes windowless, but I couldn't figure out why yet. Thank you for letting me know what machine you're using!
This machine has two display adapters, so I'm almost certain it's because of that.
Evaluation...
1 - Mechanics and Learning: Could not speed up part of the opening screen (to skip intro). This screen saver was in the time chosen by the producer (I suggest a way to jump). The screen pass was slow (catching a lot). The first time I played I tried all the buttons normally used in keyboard and controller (none reacted, to which I had visual and sonorous feedback). I played twice, the first time I survived the first umbrella (I do not know how); the second time, the umbrella handle seems to have caught me first and I went to the credits screen. I suggest that you put in the intro the buttons that are used (the tooltip for the engine is also available, making it easier to create introductions and menus).
2 - Flow: By not being able to interact (or not noticing the interaction clearly), and because the game caught a lot, it ended up that the general feeling for the flow was the feeling of anguish.
3 - Narrative and Polishment: The narrative was presented through the page and through the chosen graphic elements. The music chosen does not fit perfectly (not to evoke about the theme of the game), but serves generally for the purpose of coating the game. Graphic art takes advantage of some characters and the idea of Uncle Scrooge (I do not know if it will translate correctly the name), the polishment could enter into some elements, like the cable of umbrella (if I understood certain of what it was). Here's the hint for the engine: if you have how to add pixel whitening to the edges of elements, it can be an interesting differential in terms of having light focuses in stages (even in pixel art).
4 - Culture: The question of putting a coin to have life is fun, could end up attracting a community of players; if the game is more developed and has the proper publicity (perhaps create a page) after polishment.
5 - Monetization: I did not fully understand the mechanics, so I'm not sure how it could sell. Maybe through advertisements between stages.
I'm sorry for your trouble, @gustavo-christino. The game did end up with a pretty huge image for the Mani character sprites, so that might have made the game slower for you.
Were you unable to move past your initial position? You can move using either arrow keys or WASD, and jump using the space bar. I'm sorry, I forgot to inform the controls, gonna edit the page here to list them now!
Thank you very much for playing and for giving feedback! :D
I'd love to give feedback, but the game won't run well enough to judge it on my machine (Windows 7, 64-bit). The instant it opens, it consumes nearly 2GB of my 4GB RAM; several sprites, especially Mani's, show up as white boxes; and the music seems to spent most of its time looping in 2-second chunks. When I die, the transition to the "game over" screen is quite rough and seems to happen multiple times; when attempting to restart, it gets stuck on an all-white screen in the middle of the transition, looping a 0.25-second clip of music until I manage to kill the process. I wish I could see this game in its full glory, but right now that doesn't look possible.
I'm sorry for that @ethproductions!
The white boxes problem has already happened before, but it was on a machine with a low-end onboard graphics proccessor. Is that your case as well?
I might investigate why the game is using so much memory, that was unexpected.
Thank you very much for playing and for leaving feedback!
No problem! I do have a fairly low-end graphics processor, in fact another entry I downloaded won't even open on account of not having enough graphics power. I suppose that's what I get for doing everything on an old laptop :P
The game doesn't work. It loads up, but then the program freezes and I can't display the program (remains minimised). Windows 10 (64 bits) couple year old decent laptop.
WOW..This Game Rocks/.
Interesting mechanic :D I liked the different morph states and having to fit into specific places in a specific form. It did feel quite clunky though :)
Nice graphics and mechanic. Saddly controls dont feel reliable :( Despite that, building this on your own engine is impressive :)
I thank all of you very much for playing Mani and leaving feedback! :D
@mika-la-grand, I had also seen that minimized problem, and it seems to be a similar problem to the one @hunttis had. Anyway, thank you for trying to run my game!
i love how the camera switches when you change size, very cool. very literal take on the theme, and i like the coindude he's very cute. god bless.
The idea of transformation when you pick up money bags is quite brilliant IMO. The controls felt kind of sluggish, but the art was nice.
The game crashes from time to time , but overrall a fun game to play.
Thank you all for playing!
I really like the mechanic of changing sizes and all the different versions of Mani are cute and creative. The platforming felt a little weird, especially with how jumping isn't immediate. There were a few places where I got stuck. It was also sometimes very hard to avoid getting hit with the cane, especially when you're small and the camera is close. Is there a way to restart the game? I died a lot and it was frustrating to have to quit and reopen the application. It seemed to all run perfectly for me.
Great job!
@dovakla, thank you for playing! Unfortunately we didn't have time to make a restart button.
Thank you for the feedback! :D
