It's a good little arena game, many skills and power up, maybe little hard and repetitive, music is good, and pixel art is cute, that's simple and fun. I've played and retry many times but i have stop because i have an error on the web page : BUGSS.png
@robowarrior1982 Ah that sucks! The webGL version did not build correctly (and now wont build at all) so maybe that's causing some issue. Or maybe it's terrible coding? Thanks for playing!

I love the fast pace of the game and the skills you can aqquire. just needs some bug fixes and it could be even better :D hope you have the time to rate mine too
Well, I've got to say, this is a promising game. You have to sacrifice your items (like weapon) to save yourself, if idiom is correct. Gameplay is enjoyable and sticks up for the theme of the jam, I really liked it. Thanks for that great game!

Damn you cultists always being a step forward from me in terms of abilities! Nice work with graphics and game pacing, game always keeps you on your toes. I actually like that mechanic, but most keep/sacrifice combinations make the game impossible to play, i figured only a couple which would allow you to be alive for 6-7 levels. And also sometimes you die instantly while being in full health. Otherwise - a great entry!
The combat felt difficult to control and it would have been nice if sacrifices were compulsory. The difficulty curve seemed a bit steep after the first few levels and I felt I was being killed too quickly. That said I really enjoyed the music and visuals.
I like it, but it's very difficult.
@kemal-caglar-guler @a333 @abso Thanks for the kind words!

Nice idea and good game. Mostly, though, I felt that I did not have really much a choice and had to give up the newly acquired power because if I did not do it, the cultists would become too strong. It is also a pity that when I picked up a new weapon my old was removed from the offering options and I could not use it either. But otherwise it's a nice game, I especially like graphics and audio.

I like the concept a lot, it fits well with the theme and it's pretty neat. However, I think it was not that well executed. My main problem is that you can't hold more than 1 weapon, whilst you also don't know what's in the loot. I couldn't keep the battle axe even if I wanted to, for example (unless I track which items appear in which levels, but that's not particularly interesting. Combine that with the fact that the basic attack is not great, which means I don't want to sacrifice any weapon, going against the core mechanic. Allowing you to hold multiple weapons would be nice. I think the game might also benefit from having random loot/enemy buffs.
Overall a good entry, though. Super easy to understand and pick up, solid combat, nice graphics.
Loved the art style! Good pixel art and good concept
Good idea and it mostly worked well, but I didn't like that I could fall so far behind if I didn't give up everything. Perhaps allow you to keep and/or sacrifice old abilities even if you replace it with a new weapon/ability? Other than that, though, enjoyed playing this game.

Nice, I liked the art and the music. The gameplay was a little inaccurate, could've maybe used some tuning with the hitboxes (make them a little bit more fair to the player perhaps? :D) For some reason, my character sometimes got stuck moving in a single direction. I wished I could keep a few abilities and switch between them.. And then maybe choose which one to sacrifice.
Nice game! Cultists have always one step ahead. the music and the graphics is good.
Brilliant! This game is definitely on my top 3 games of LD43 right now. I love the subtle (and sometimes brutal) ability swaps. The rounds are simple, but very diverse from dynamic abilities. The Music is chill and the sound effects are freaking excellent. Really, phenomenal job with this :D

This game has a good mood and atmospehere, which I like. The art and the music is nice (even though slightly repetitive, which is understandable. I made the music for our game during the last day with no creativity left, so it became a very short loop :D).
The game could be a little bit easier on the player in the beginning. It was a little bit frustrating to get into the game.
Overall, nice job! Hope you had fun making it!
**The Good:** The atmosphere was very consistent - the artwork, music and sound effects worked well together. The gameplay was fun and mechanics were pretty straightforward to understand from the get-go.
**Needs Improvement:** Balancing different powerups might be something to consider, as well as adjusting the difficulty. I felt like the game got difficult fairly quickly and didn't work well with the way regular attacks worked (had to face the enemy to attack, which made it difficult to escape the large horde).

Not bad at all. Could you make the cultists attack a bit more telegraphed?

Really liked it! The gameplay forces you to mix things up as you try to get more powerups and stop the cultists from getting their own, making the player have to play tug-of-war to try to stay one step ahead of them. I wish all the powerups were randomized instead of being set for every room, I feel like if some of the powerups were more balanced out it would make for sum really fun combinations. The way its set up now it feels like the player has to get the powerup in every wave, then sacrifice it right after so the enemies don't become too powerful. Another thing that kind of annoyed me was that if I got a weapon powerup it would override my current weapon. Giving the player the ability to switch between weapons would be really cool. Also the enemy gets crazy in some of the later waves and end up cornering the player to the point where they can't move, and players probably don't like being stuck like that.
This was a lot of fun but incredibly difficult at the later levels, at least for me! 😅
For some reason it took me until they got the spirit orbs to realise it was *them* getting the blessings and not *me*, haha. Oops! Went a lot better after that. Still, I was never able to beat the game, if there is an end to it, because I was just so overwhelmed by enemies eventually no matter what I tried. But it was a lot of fun trying out different strategies. I ended up banking on those fireballs a lot.
Audio is minimal but does a good job at cluing me into what is going on. I could *swear* one of the sounds is young Link from the Nintendo 64 Zelda games, tho‽ Is it? 🤯
Controls well and graphics are nice! Good animations that make me feel the weight of what I'm holding.
Must've been fun coming up with all the different powerups too! Really nice work! c:
@ava-skoog Definitely the difficulty is too high - we've made a game that only we can play - oops! @Baleoce made all our sound, recording himself on his microphone I love the 'whomp' fireball sound effect he made, and how he walked in his bathroom to capture the footsteps.

@lilkrit I think that is a good point - I think this is probably my fault as I was learning animation for the first time when making the sprites for the game. I wouldve liked to do more complex animation and that couldve included a wind-up for them attacking, but I only managed to make something very simple that we had to use for all the attack types.
This is definitely the kind of thing my game was going for when I made Trials of K'zhak, but darker and slower paced. The different weapons make the game constantly interesting, which I wish I had time to implement in my game.
Great overall!

Solid game but I can't help but notice you can play through a game without having to make a sacrifice. One can get all the main power ups quite early on. The other aspects of the game are well done, and it was 100% functionnal for me!

With the combination of you don't see when you're getting a new attack and you can't sacrifice the old ones you replaced you can mostly only make correct choices for a level after you've played through it once. A really nice idea though and I loved music and art for the game.

@sevkron thanks for rating! thats interesting to hear - we've had feedback from people who sacrifice every time to win so its interesting to hear the opposite!
@neato theres been a lot of feedback about not seeing the pickup - part of our design was that its a bit like a puzzle and you learn by playing what the best sacrifices for you to make are etc - but interesting to hear how you felt!
The sound and the graphics were really well done, gave the game a nice atmosphere. Good job overall!

I made it to the **Nova**. This game does its atmospheric part very well - except the sound effects when being hurt sounded a bit too childish which was in contrast to the dark atmosphere of being trapped in a dungeon where endless monsters spawn that try to kill you. What I liked most about the game were the power-ups - I actually had fun exploring which new ones there will be available for me and they made sense. For instance when the enemies got faster I had to get faster too in order to not die. Well done
Thank you for making this and please more of this kind in the future!
PS: I like the graphics / art style. How did you draw that?

@mouthlessgames thank you for playing and for the kind feedback! Glad you enjoyed our entry :) The pixel stuff was made in Aseprite and the particle effects were made in Unity
