I liked the graphics and it fits theme. However, gameplay is kinda generic (for adventure game), and game lacks any sound. Good job for finishing, 3D art looks really good.

Like mentioned above, sounds would've been great. Even if they just acknowledged that you did something, like with a bleep or something for picking up stuff. I don't think I was told how to pick up stuff either. I tried quite a few buttons before I figured out that it's 'E' :D

I like the literal interpretation of the theme though, and the general mood. I just wish there was more :)

**The Good:** Game is straightforward and akin to generic fetch quest adventure games. Controls are simple and follow the general FPS control scheme. Graphics are pretty good for a 3D compo game made in UE4. Fits the theme as well.

**Needs Improvement:** Sound effects & ambient track or soundtrack are an absolute must for a game, especially a game like this when you have a dungeon and an outside area and considering how much effort you put into the atmosphere already.

I would have liked to have a small tutorial for the controls of the games, maybe even a splash screen that was like "push this to pick up". Thankfully it defaulted to E like a regular game so it wasn't over difficult. Sound would have been great, but taking on a 3D first person game for a jam is a feat in and of itself, so I commend you for the effort.

Really ambitious project, congrads! And the visual is very nice

The graphics are nice, are so is the atmosphere (although audio wouldv'e added a ton), I just couldn't figure out the controls, leading to me not being able to continue. I'd love to see a menu telling you what the controls were.

Thank you all for the comments. I don't know how could I forget to add the buttons info - right now it's on the website. I guess I was too busy to think about it during the compo!

Positives - Very smooth in-game camera controls - well done! Could possibly have sensitivity setting - Awesome torch visual effects - Clear instructions e.g. by the priest - Nice world and houses - Nice Dungeon idea but maybe the name is not representative? - Quite funny, at times with link to theme - Great change of sceneries and ideas for objectives

Improvements - When I fell too far in dungeon, it would be preferable to have had restarted automatically, right? There could be a menu option. - out-game camera controls a bit weird - Could have some sound and ambient music - Would have liked a more fluid jump - When the guy exclaimed that the wall looked different, it didn't look very different to me - Left-click didn't work on touch pad

Overall - Overall seems like a great attempt at an open-world game. Some more fluid dynamics, a little polishing and audio would help this game out a lot.

Great stuff, keep it up!

@zxinferno Thanks for the review, but I have a quick advice - when you "start" the game, there's a choice of 4 different pyramids. Each one represents a different level. You can restart that level, but now I see that it does take more steps than necessary. I will remember for next time to add such option :)

zxinferno 2018-12-29 22:49

@lilkrit Ahh, that's interesting. (That's useful knowledge, well, if I had a mouse haha). But, the mere fact that you do have 4 different types shows how much effort you've put in, and for that, I commend you. Nicely done :v:

Lot of content for a game made in such a short time. I feel like an improvement could be to spend some more time on general mechanics so that the game play itself feels more fun. Still I feel like you did a good job!

psychedelia 2018-12-29 23:24

The game has atmosphere despite the missing sounds. I liked the maze a lot. Didn't expect these kinds of twists. Well done!

While the game play was kind of simple, the graphics were pretty impressive for a jam game. A little bit of sound could have helped a lot too.

Ambitious entry and a nice idea. A very literal take on the theme, which is not wrong in any way. :) I liked the fact that you've managed to put together real quests in a 3D environment. Sounds would have made a huge impact on the game. A good accomplishment within tight time constraints. If you would have had one more day you would probably been able to create basic sound effects and some background ambience.

I love the game but I had to restart it because at one point I teleported under the map and the graphics and collisions started popping in and out of existence. However, once I had restarted it was a really fun game to play.
