Damn, would love to play it but I have no DX11 support :(

martiangames 2017-04-26 23:03

Great concept! Loved the style/aesthetics! Very exciting to see you collaborating with other devs now too! Keep it up! =OD>-]

ps.. can't wait to see your LD38 postmortem documentary! Love them!

avon 2017-04-26 23:09

Beautiful graphics, and lovely music, the atmosphere in this game is great.

The puzzle was fun to figure out, but the slow walking speed on smaller sizes did get a little annoying, and the game was a bit short. The mouse sensitivity was also very high for me.

Overall great entry, just wish it was longer :)

mde 2017-04-27 07:46

Nice little game! It's quite small, but that's just what A Small World describes. Best and most polished artwork and music I have seen so far for LD38.

(Also I agree with @avon that the sensitivity is very high)

philstrahl 2017-04-28 03:14

Thanks for playing and your feedback already!

@avon @mde I just added a link to version 1.01 which introduces a simple way to adjust mouse sensitivity and has some minor performance and visual improvements, gameplay (and glitches) are untouched ;)

historymaker118 2017-04-28 23:21

Absolutely stunning to look at, those textures are incredible. Music also fits really well and was a pleasure to listen to. I'm pleased to not be seeing yet another space/planet game, I know you've said that you normally 'hate the theme' but well done for coming up with a novel concept that went beyond the obvious in how you used it.

Thankfully I have an adjustable mouse and was able to turn down the sensitivity to play without too many problems, though I was very confused as to what it was I was trying to achieve at first. I soon figured out the growing and shrinking and managed to find the key, though I somehow managed to lose it by dropping it through one of the portals in an attempt to shrink it down and was forced to restart the game.

The art and music really reminds of the old Titanic point and click adventure game for PC, it has the same atmosphere. The surreal feeling of scale changing was also very reminiscent of Alice in Wonderland, I half expected to see a white rabbit in there somewhere.

I found this from following your youtube channel which I discovered a few days before the jam started while looking for inspiration and helpful advice from those who had done this before. I'm really looking forward to seeing your documentary postmortem on how you made this.

jk5000 2017-04-30 18:39

Both the graphics and the music is really good. The game idea is okay, but I would really have liked some more thing to do. But overall well done.

gurbx 2017-05-01 07:16

The audio and graphics are amazing but the actual game felt somewhat tedious, especially when you were really small and moved slowly. The general idea was good but I felt the puzzle was a little bit too simple and there could have been something more done with the concept. Still very pretty and enjoyable nonetheless.

jk5000 2017-05-01 09:11

I have now also rated your game.

tommyflower 2017-05-01 11:32

Great graphics and music, made me go back to Alone in the dark times. Mouse sensitivity needed some improvement, but you already did it in the second release. Nice!

spinaljack 2017-05-01 14:58

I watched the video and came here. Really impressive graphics. I found a bug where the key fell through the floor/carpet though and the collision are a bit funky.

pixelformedstudios 2017-05-01 15:52

Everything about this is amazing. Loved the concept, soundtrack and the graphics were unbelievable for the amount of time you guys had to make it. Very well done.

headmade 2017-05-01 17:06

The music and visuals are superb. Really impressive that you managed to do this in such a short amount of time. The game idea is neat but some aspects are as clearly communicated as could be. For example the difference in key size could be bigger, so it's easier to tell if it has the right size to fit in the lock.

I encountered a bug, where the key fell through the floor and I had to restart the game.

I'm looking forward to the documentary :)

samusoidal 2017-05-01 18:38

Excellent game! Though I would have liked to see more gameplay, the art, music, and mood were fantastic, and shrinking a growing the key as well as yourself was a neat mechanic. Overall, 4/5, good job!

rayne 2017-05-01 19:40

God, I loved the visuals. Everything is tidy but odd. Gives you that "Layers of fear" feel but without the horror. Buggy, but I expect great things from you. I'll follow you on other media!

Keep making games, you're doing great. 4/5

rwoeltjes 2017-05-02 18:24

My god, I'm bad at playing LD games... First round of playing I tried to get under the carpet because there is a little part where I thougt the key lay. Got really annoyed by the lack of speed when getting smaller and smaller. More liitle bug were seen at a smaller size. Had myself a little rage quit. Because you got me pumped up for LD with your brilliant postmortem videos I decided to give it another try. Solved it to quickly the second time! Great visuals and music. Can't wait for your postmortem!

aviv871 2017-05-03 18:44

Amazing graphics and idea! Great LD game.

I left you a rating. Good luck!

ilikescifi 2017-05-03 19:43

5 stars in nearly all categorys! Love this masterpiece! And everything created in one weekend! Amazing!

EDIT Just one thing: Give me a RUN key pleeeeeeaaase!!! :)

xavier-indie-gamedev 2017-05-04 13:43

Can't play it because I'm on my Mac, but I look forward to the documentary :) Huge fan!

silkworm-sweatshop 2017-05-04 17:46

Nice visuals and audio. Puzzle was great too, short but satisfying.

tylerraz 2017-05-04 21:59

Nearly perfect, just too slow movement. I loved the ending!

hjalte 2017-05-04 22:04

Daaaamn, youre gonna get a damn good rating in graphics. Anyway I had a bug, where the key just disappeared when I dropped it, but other than that it went smooth. It was a beautiful game! Simple idea, yet really interesting and the ending was pretty cool too. I kinda hoped I'd have to go back and make the key big enough to open a door the size of mountains, but oh well :). Did I say the game was pretty? Cant wait for the post mortem on this one! Good fucking job guys!

sagarpatel25700 2017-05-06 17:53

- wow you got some epic graphics in your game with awesome sound effect. - game was simple and small as per the theme - over all i enjoyed

listonos 2017-05-06 20:01

Everything was a little too shiny but stunning graphics indeed. I dropped the key near the "portal" in hope to make it smaller and I couldn't pick it up because of I would go through portal if I got any closer. As others have mentioned the walking speed when slow was annoying and the fact that you couldn't climb the carpet when small enough also bothered me. All of that might have sounded too harsh so don't get me wrong it's a great little game and the atmosphere was great.

martenscedric 2017-05-06 20:33

Hey I had to try your game Phil! I'm absolutely amazed on how the game looks! It really is a 5 out of 5 graphics :astonished: Gameplay wise I wasn't sure what to do until I realized I was getting smaller and smaller each time I went throught a speicific door, the concept is interesting, but I wish I could run . Because I was really moving slowly with that key in my hand. I had a few collision glitches, like the first time I went throught a door. I thought I had to left click the door with the key when I was big, the key disappeared and I don't know if something happened. Anyways good game! I'm awaiting the leg shaving!

spacedoubt 2017-05-06 21:39

Very solid! I loved the shrinking/growing mechanic and I especially loved the surreal feeling of opening the door to the outside only to reveal another, much larger door! Reminded me a bit of Myst, which is one of my favourites. Nice work!

madmaw 2017-05-07 04:37

Moar! Moar! Beautiful game and the ending is perfect. I feel like there's so many more things that could have been done with this

turncoda 2017-05-07 09:58

I love this kind of submission. It's a very unique game and has so much character. I would have been happy just looking at the paintings.

I loved that moment when I knew what I had to do, and I was just executing on the solution, excited to see what would happen when I solved the puzzle. When I did, I felt very happy with my reward. I was pretty entertained by the ending, so I would definitely have rated this 5 stars in Humor, if that was an option.

eddynardo 2017-05-07 23:32

Hey guys, really good game. Very nice graphics, music and a unique mechanic. This could be a great escape the room game if you added some more puzzles. Only thing that needs adjustment is the speed when you get smaller. If you ever make this a full game, consider making it third person, it would be a bit more difficult but seeing your character getting smaller and bigger would help with immersion. Great work, keep it up!!!

zaibakk 2017-05-08 09:14

Wow, very good entry here! Loved the mood and the graphics! Also the music fits very well! The puzzle mechanic is very cool! Good job guys! :)

bunnery 2017-05-08 14:41

Wow - this looks stunning! I love the Pre-Raphaelite paintings :-)Had a spot of bother trying to pick up things at first until I realised about the size thing! Very clever. Would LOVE to see lots more rooms!

xxdoombox 2017-05-08 19:29

hey really interesting game! first of all the graphics were incredible, i think that is the strongest point to the game. i appreciate that it didnt spell out the game mechanics and objectives and everything, it gave respect to the player by trusting them to explore and figure out what is going on. that is very important to me when it comes to video games. the mouse sensitivity was way too high, i didnt see that you added keys to adjust that until after i had finished the game ha but still thanks for implementing that. i think that a crouch key would have useful as well, but i can understand how that might take away from the size mechanic of the game. the music fit really well, in fact the overall mood while playing the game was good and quite immersive. i also really like the direction you went with the theme, i like to see non-obvious, creative interpretations. well done!!!

gamechoy 2017-05-08 19:47

Graphics and music were impressive. A little to be desired in the gameplay department, but everything else made up for it. Nice entry, keep up the good work!

pragmascript 2017-05-08 22:35

Very detailled modelling and materials for such a short amount of time. Looks really good. Nice gameplay idea that fits well with the theme. Wouldnt mind a few more puzzles :) Really nice work!

dejvo 2017-05-10 18:24

Wow! I am really impressed! It was really good. especially the graphics. but it was kindof freaky and eary, which, I suppose, was an inension. one small thing tough. there was a light but no apparent light source. give it a lamp

mezzuk 2017-05-13 06:54

Great little game. The graphics and audio are superb. Some more puzzles would be great if you are planning to extend the project as it seems like an interesting idea. Looking forward to seeing your post mortem video. Cheers.

xoidberg 2017-05-18 13:22

That's really awesome for this short period of development time! I like the pictures that hang in the room.
