LD38 — A Small World

UFO in a box of bricks by maartene 2017-05-01T17:14:55Z

Nice little short game which fits the theme nicely. I got a highscore of 12488 points after a few runs.

Fallingbricks are sometimes difficult to avoid because they fly offscreen. As in your previous games I like the music your game has. The graphics are clean and simple too. Overall good job!

Tub of War by quill18 2017-05-01T17:40:30Z

You score good at the fun and humor departments.

Hope you receive an award for "Best Human Beatbox of LD38"!

Savannah by TheMadStrauss 2017-05-13T10:04:11Z

Sometimes I seem to be unable to outrun enemies, responsiveness of the game might be the problem (as previously mentioned). Great game though, the sound is very good and the graphics look very cool!

My world by Erkberg 2017-05-13T08:32:52Z

Nice story in such a small game. Would hav e loved a bit more variation in the enemies. The mood is quite right, now I have to make an appointment with my sister because I haven't seen her for a while! Well done!

Space Turtle by Sebastian Lague 2017-05-04T11:21:28Z

Very good entry! I like the music and the use of the theme. SFX are not great though. Implementing a highscore let me play it a few more times! You are a great teacher I love your youtube channel. I used your dreamlo tutorial for my own game this LD. I wanted to get a good ranking in your game, 4th place is good enough: Capture.PNG

A Small World Cup by rujo 2017-05-04T11:57:42Z

The lack of sound never bothered me. Best game I have played so far. Great twist on the theme and marvelous graphics style. Best of this game is not going for the ball, but for the opponent :-p I won myself a little worldcup, hope you win something too.

Aircraft Carrier Simulator by superchihuahua 2017-05-01T17:58:45Z

Did take me more time than nescesary to find out, that the planes need to go to the start of the dark grey lines. I manouvered them onto those rectangle shapes hopeng they would fly off. The chat messages where very funny, so you score with that! Landing on other planes or a physics glitch here and there also brought a smile on my face. As stated in other reviews it lacks a bit gameplay, but it was quite fun to play.

Ant Forts by rplnt 2017-05-13T16:52:51Z

After a while I also found out there isn't really a challenge, so that was unfortunate. You have a nice little game though. With a bit more balancing (and please add sounds) you might have a fun game.

Rock-E by endlesspeak 2017-05-12T12:02:00Z

Initial interaction frightened me a bit because oof the voice acting. After some time exploring the planet I got used to it and it fits the vibe of your game. Love all the movie references you put in your game, you score great on humor!

Path of the Rabbit by managore 2017-05-04T11:03:11Z

Nice twist on the theme. Game is as polished as usual with your entries. Game is a bit to difficult for me, but overall a great entry!

Small World Sim by pyokoanarogue 2017-05-12T11:37:09Z

Love the music, really fits the game! The learning curve is a bit steep, but you have done amazing work.

A small World à la No Man's sky by lavwa 2017-05-12T12:33:38Z

How is it possible people can make this in such a short time. Really, really good job!

World Tetris by mde 2017-05-12T12:24:57Z

If the blocks would drop from a higher distance and add some sound your game would be better. Like the idea you were going for.

Headroom by PhilStrahl 2017-05-02T18:24:33Z

My god, I'm bad at playing LD games... First round of playing I tried to get under the carpet because there is a little part where I thougt the key lay. Got really annoyed by the lack of speed when getting smaller and smaller. More liitle bug were seen at a smaller size. Had myself a little rage quit. Because you got me pumped up for LD with your brilliant postmortem videos I decided to give it another try. Solved it to quickly the second time! Great visuals and music. Can't wait for your postmortem!

S P A C E C H U N K by nonameghost 2017-05-12T12:31:07Z

Visually stunning game. Love the concept you were going after. Seems to me, you could really make a complete game out of this. Great work!

Jumpy Green by markusfisch 2017-05-12T11:32:56Z

Feels like there are a few bugs left. The purpose of the game is not clear from the beginning, but overall well done!

Shrinking Planet by Brackeys 2017-05-04T06:54:55Z

Very polished game!!! First time ever, that I drove a car around a shrinking tennisball. Took me a few tries to see that the craters disappear over time (because I didn't survive that long). Good luck with winning this year!

PixelWorld by Dom Harris 2017-05-12T11:49:00Z

Your game looks interesting, I had unfortunate spawns where there was almost no room to move. Don't know if it was intende, but when moving sideways you sometimes stick to a wall and you do'nt fall back to the floor. Seems you were quite ambitous for your game, maybe focussing on the essentials would have made the game better. Overall nicely done (had fun for a few runs)

Water Bear World by Aviland 2017-05-13T08:40:14Z

As you mentioned, the controls are difficult. I sometimes got the critter to move in directions I wanted, but the lack of purpose and not gaining points after a few minutes (no clear indication of what gives points). The sound effect in the Ice world (growing ice?) is a bit to chaotic for my taste. Game looks nice though and I will give it a rerun later, thanks!

Giant Steps by Lennart Jansson 2017-05-12T11:54:44Z

Insta favorite of mine. I got some Q-Bert vibes from your game. Really love how the controls get updated by rotating the world. Audio brings an extra layer to a game, but you opted out of that category and it didn't bother me at all that there was none. Very well done, hats off to you!

Starbob by Gato 2017-05-12T11:42:08Z

I really lik the concept of your game. It started out with me wondering why the controls of the ship felt awkward and why the floor was rotating. Zooming out made it a differnt game! Great entry and I wonder if you manage to get a great post-compo game out of this.

Grubs by Hardly Difficult 2017-05-04T11:32:11Z

Great work! Love that you created a multiplayer game. To bad there were no others connected when I played. Love the following camera of the bullets. Graphics are lacking polish, but it has its charm. Hope you receive the credit for your work!

Johi Farm by AVAVT 2017-05-12T11:29:27Z

Fun graphics and a nice game! My plant always dries out at the second level, don't know if there is another one after it.

Wandering Planet by jlet 2017-05-12T12:08:42Z

Your game reminded me of Slither.io The stars in the backround don't feel right. At some sizes there at looks like static on the screen. It is not always clear when you can "absorb" a larger sized planet. Als it wasn't always clear if I was hit by debris and thus losing parts of me.

The Final Earth by Florian van Strien 2017-05-13T16:44:14Z

26 days, 2 hours and 16 minutes, not bad at all. Very cute graphics and a entertaining game. Very good use of information in the minimal interface. Great job overall!

6-Sided Sojourn by Cosmic Adventure Squad 2017-05-04T12:21:18Z

Very nice graphics. Got bored after lever 31 though. When you figure out the way to attack an enemy there isn't much challenge. Overall very well done!

WHAT A SMALL WORLD! by ilikescifi 2017-05-05T18:37:38Z

Just when I thought how big is this small world going to get... Great ending!

Great idea, good music. Really impressive name of your game too.
