Well i just played this game . the gameplay is ok (for me ), but making such type of game is really difficult that too in 48 hours . I gave my brother which is 7 years old to play this game he really enjoyed this game . I was wandering what if thi game is made in VR . this would be good for childrens. Also the game menu is simple WOW !!!!! tHANKS FOR MAKING THIS SOURCECODE PUBLIC , I REALLY LEARN A LOT :)
The game is awesome and the fact that you made it in 48 hours is pretty insane. The mechanics are fairly simple but it makes the gameplay very fun and addictive, graphics look great I loved the effects of the planet and asteroids blowing up, I know you said you struggled with the soundtrack but it came out very atmospheric and it really matches the action on the screen and the overall theme, hands down 5/5 game!

Hi, I love the peaceful atmosphere of this game. The difficulty is well managed, but for me it is hard to see if the turtle will hit the asteroids or not. Same thing for the power ups that should be bigger I think. Overall I enjoyed trying to beat my high score, a good experience for me.
Hello! I saw your struggle on YT. The problem I had was that the up/down controls felt inverted (but it made the game more difficult so maybe that's a feature :)), and the entire game didn't fit on my screen, which has a 1366x768 resolution, so next time you should include a full-screen option.

Great game! and thanks for making the source code available on github. i'm sure i will learn a lot from that.
I quite like the general feel of the game, it is sorta relaxing. Nice music by the way :) I only wish there would be a way to remap the control (I am used to a reverse up and down and that made it very confusing for me) or even better, control it with the mouse for smooth movements around the rocks. Impressive work for one person in 48h! Wish I had time to put some leaderboard in my entry as well, I have to rewatch your video on the subject ^^
Fun to play. Really relaxing atmosphere until the screen is filled with meteors and there's nowhere to go! Great job in 48h.

The calming atmosphere of this game is extremely cool. As @alexisgea already mentioned, a mouse controll would maybe be a bit better. Sometimes I found the score multipliers a bit hard to see and collect. But overall a great game as always ;)

Feel free to leave some feedback.
Pretty great little game, I really like the graphics. But for me the up/down controlls seem inverted (probably because of airplane controlls in gta) so that made it way more difficul for me.
Oh and by the way, in my game (hunting frog) there actually is a way to control the jump distance (WS while in air) My fault tho to not include that in the description.

Nice idea. Music is chilled and protecting a planet gave me some initial immersion. If you get the time check out mine -https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/island-attack
Music and graphics create an interesting mood and overall experience with the game, and I think it's awesome. Well done!
Simple and nice mechanics with very responsive controls
The game was felt relaxing with the music. It has some good atmosphere. It's a simple but good idea. It gets pretty challenging too if you go after high scores.
It would have been nice to be able to control the turtle with a mouse. Can't really find more complaints as this was a simple but pretty well executed game.
Also, it's nice to see that my distant relatives have some important work to do.
The gameplay is simple but very solid and responsive. The music fits well with the game and make a relaxing experience. I think the yellow multipliers should be a little bigger, had some difficulties finding them sometimes.
Great game!

Very relaxing experience. Feels solid and finished. Graphics is very nice, I like animations and explosions. In terms of playability, let's face it - it's one time experience, there is nothing around the corner, you saw everything after few seconds of the game. But the hell, this is compo, and it's more than enough, I like it very much.
PS. You should create modified version where you use planet as a weapon ]:->
Very smooth and relaxing. The simple leaderboard is an awesome idea that encourages repeat play. Nice work Sebastian!
I subscribed to you on YouTube during the Jam as I was reminded of your high scores tutorial (I suggested the website to my brother and we used it for out game this time! and I also used the tutorial in the past for a solo effort). I also followed your platformer tutorial series and am very much looking forward to the lecture on pushing blocks ;)
I am really impressed with what you did in 48 hours, despite the hurdles!
I am the artist/animator on our team and I really love what you've done here. The turtle has a simple beauty and the animation works great on both him and the globe. I like how the multiplier tokens appear hazy in the distance and then sharpen up.
Gameplay wise I'm also impressed. The controls are very responsive yet don't feel too snappy for such a soothing/slightly eerie game. Depth perception was a slight problem, for the asteroids but mainly the multipliers, is was hard to tell where I was in relation to them. Maybe this could be remedied by giving the turtle and the multipliers a glow and having the boulders near o them be illuminated by it (just a point light really). It would also look quite pretty!
It also felt as if I was having to fly underneath the multipliers in order to catch them? I definitely ended up aiming to fly below them and that seemed to help my success rate.
When you move up and down the globe momentarily blocks your view. I guess some might say this adds an element of challenge because you're responsible for keeping your own camera clear, but I felt it messed with my sense of space too much to find it a fun challenge. Maybe make it transparent as it flies in front of your camera?
Music was very fitting, you were probably better off using the music generator by the looks of the feedback you've got!
Fantastic work! I'm inspired as a coding newbie to go and check out some of your other tutorials now!

Hey Sebastian, very nice and relaxing game but please...PLEASE for the love of God, put an "Invert controls" button in the menu, I wanna break the Highscore but I can't get my brain to press UP when I want to go up. That turtle is cute but it's evil too... always trying to hit a rock with it's little turtle head XD Overall I really enjoyed it, and I would love to spend some more time with it if you manage to get the invert controls in a build. Also I think I am going to install this in all the computers in the lab where I teach, because my students really need to relax a little :P BTW, thanks for quality content on youtube all these years :)
Cool game! It's a really neat idea, and I think you did a good job implementing it given the 48-hour time constraint. A few people have mentioned the need for an inverted controls option, and I agree. The turtle seems like he should control kind of like an airplane, which typically use up for down and down for up.
I sure hope the actual turtle towing us along isn't as terrible at avoiding rocks as I am :D Thanks for the invert controls option, once I found that I got into the groove it was really fun, the atmosphere worked nicely, and flying between the rocks when there were lots after about a 10x multiplier was intense but felt great.
A beautiful and relaxing little game. The feel of the space turtle was well executed, and the music was soothing.
I felt that it was a little hard to see the oncoming rocks at times, but maybe because I played during daytime and the sun was brightening the room... playing in the dark is probably recommended.
Overall, it's an impressive 48 hour effort - the physics seemed to work flawlessly. Great work!
You did a great job on creating a solid mood! Space Turtle is a well focused, tight game and feels like a nicely polished game for such a short time frame. Also good job on getting good working menu in. Not many games I played managed to do that and it does add to the overall completeness of the game.
Sebastian 3 things First of all thank you for taking the time and making the invert axis build. Second, check out my Highscore (I will get better I promise) Third, I saw that you couldn't play my game so I uploaded it on Newgrounds, take a look if you want.

The athmosphere was very nice (: and the smoothness of the world behind the turtle is nice as well. But where are the two elephants? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
Very good entry! I like the music and the use of the theme. SFX are not great though. Implementing a highscore let me play it a few more times! You are a great teacher I love your youtube channel. I used your dreamlo tutorial for my own game this LD. I wanted to get a good ranking in your game, 4th place is good enough: Capture.PNG

Really nice mood!
I love the fantasy of guiding a world flying through space. The game play was very nice and simple.
I don't really like the game over sfx & visual though. The sfx doesn't quite sound like a world or something breaking, it feels kind of disappointing. The visual could be a bit slower maybe one frame freeze or something to signify collision, right now it left question in my mind whether I really collided or not (because I'm looking at a 3D world through 2D monitor).
I would also love to be prompted to enter my username once when I start the game, so I don't end up submitting "anonymous" high score.
Overall quite a nice game with great mood, and the opening sequence was awesome, I loved it.

A new take on classical gameplay is always nice (the planet attached to the turtle makes for interesting movement strategies when trying to evade asteroids). Fun game!
Can you re-export the Linux build as a universal build instead of only at 32 bit build.
Nice mood and graphics it just feels like the gameplay is a bit a bit bare, adding some extra element would have gone a long way to improving the enjoyability of the game.

Awesome! Similar to previous comments, the gameplay needs a little more humph! Other than that, everything else feels great! Very unique indeed. Thanks! Been a fan of your videos for a very long time btw :D

Nice looking game, good atmosphere, was smooth and fun to play, but just a little hard to see. I'll echo other comments that the gameplay is pretty basic, but great job. Also, security is important, even for leaderboards :P
I played this on stream at https://www.twitch.tv/videos/141703264 - time 0:50:35
Cool game, looks good and it's pretty fun. I'd make it less obvious that you're inside a tube or something. Maybe take me out of that tube. Maybe no tube at all, just infinite procedural generation (I've learnt that from you and I have a script, I can give it to you)
Cool graphics, hilarious concept, pretty weird controls (I don't know, it was hard to get used to that turtle's movement).
